My spares don't work. OK, to be fair, only one completely doesn't work. One must have been cut too thick, because it barely squeezes into the lock and it takes a huge effort to get it to turn, but it will eventually open the door. The other key seems to have the opposite problem -- it fits into the lock but isn't thick/heavy enough to work, so that made for a fun morning being locked out of my building for 10 minutes before finally just buzzing an apartment to be let in (and let me tell you, people love being woken up at 7am to buzz you in). I realize I am in the minority here and my review may get flagged as everyone seems to love this place, but I will certainly never waste $5 here again. read more

Such a cute locksmith shop. Ok cute isn't normally an adjective that ties to locksmiths but this place definitely was. Even though it was no bigger than a closet, this place packed a punch. The walls were covered with keys, locks, keypads, security cables, hooks and screws - pretty much if it had anything to with a lock and key this place had it. The guy behind the counter promptly came out from his corner to greet us as soon as he heard us come through the front door. He was able to glance at our key, give us an estimate and have our new key cut and we were out the door in less than 5 minutes. All with a smile and a few jokes tossed in. And for $2.50 for a brand new key (that works perfectly!) it is such a steal I feel a bit guilty about it! Btw.. what an awesome name! read more

Our company has used monKEYS ever since we moved to this area. I cannot think of enough surperlatives to describe their work and service. They are friendly, quick, and provide great service. A trifecta!!! I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone needing a locksmith. read more

Cheap and fast service. Came here to get all my keys done since there was almost no line when I came and the guy did the keys quickly. But I must say that the customer service wasn't too stellar. The guy did get the job done but I always felt I was more of an inconvenience than a customer. Also, sometimes the spares he made didn't work and I had to come back to get them readjusted. This happened 1 out of 4 times I came here. . Overall, I like this place and would come back. read more

Rip off artists. Find another locksmith. Our coop management company called them to change the lock on my mailbox. I spoke to Jeff on the phone to schedule the appointment Thursday. He refused to quote me a price or give me any indication of cost but said he had a deal with the management company. We schedule an appointment for Monday 9:30 am. On Monday, I call at 9:56am and he clearly forgot about me. Then he says he'll have a guy over in 30 minutes. Around 10:30 the guy shows up, spends 4 minutes swapping out the lock and yesterday, I get a bill for $136. I call Jeff and tell him it's an unreasonable price and that it's sketchy he wouldn't quote me a price initially when I asked. He yells at me that he doesn't deal with customers and he doesn't care if I feel cheated by his business. If you decide to use him, good luck. Better off taking your business anywhere else. read more

Just wanted to add my 5-star rating for Monkey's Locksmith. A pleasure to deal with from the initial phone call to the actual on-site service. I needed a deadbolt installed in my new apartment. Got same-day service, really half-day service as I called in the morning and had a locksmith at my place a few hours later. Professional, courteous, quick and affordable. If you are looking for a locksmith, look no further. read more

This place was fantastic. I called to have someone come to our office and change a lock. They were here in 15 minutes, did the job in 3 minutes, and charged much less than what we were paying for the same job in the past. If only other businesses were this fast and reliable. Plus, the guy who came was super nice. Definitely calling them again in the future. read more

Cannot say enough about this company! Needed someone to look into some issues my daughter was having with a lock installed by a locksmith from another company. The person in the office and the locksmith who came were both incredibly helpful, professional, friendly. They took care of the situation quickly and efficiently. A key that I had broke IN HALF and luckily I had both pieces. I freaked out and immediately called this place because of their great rating. He said he'll see what he can do and a minute later fixed it and it was only 2 BUCKS! I wanted to tip him so badly but wouldn't accept. They key worked when I got home and just smiled. He had a great sense of humor and definitely knows what he's doing. I'd give him 10 STARS if I could! read more

I went almost every where during the covid 19 lockdown and could not find one place that would copy a motorcycle key for me. Went into MonKeys and got it done with NO problems even got a deal on a lock that retails for almost 200 dollars in other stores and wasn't charged extra for using credit instead of cash like other stores will do. The owner of the store is hands on and is a very easy going guy makes you feel like family we had a quick chat about cars and bikes not once did I feel rushed due to the fact that the store was closing. Thanks again for providing outstanding service ! read more

I had a great experience with monKeys, and it's clear why they've been in business for so long. Jeff and Joe were very helpful with setting up and confirming the details of my lock change, which I needed because I recently moved into my place. The price was very reasonable. They showed up on time and job was done right. I definitely would use them again. read more

This place is fantastic, 100% reliable. Walk in blind, ask for what you want, pay what's asked and then take the time to talk to Jeff - the man has stories to tell! (Unless you're getting something major done, don't be a douche, stop at an ATM and get cash!) I almost want to come in here and pay a few $ to listen to the man speak than keep lining Starbucks' pockets. You will walk away with your key/lock needs resolved, wondering how it didn't cost you more than it did, and how something like getting a set of keys made could turn into such a colorful and rewarding experience. read more

monKeys Locksmith - Want #keys? Don't mess. Come here. Watch in awe. Then take 10, ask Jeff to show you the pic of his truck and tell you his story. - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - New York, New York

Just called them to get a quote and the guy who picked up had an attitude when I asked the price. I was hung up on rather abruptly in the middle of me asking him how long it would take to cut them. When I called right back, he had the nerve to catch an attitude again when I asked him how long it would take. If this is the phone etiquette, I don't even want to give them my money. read more

After calling a few locksmiths around midtown, I tried monKeys and was relieved to hear that they could make a particular type of mul-T-lock key. The guy on the phone was very pleasant and assured me he could make the key immediately as soon as I arrived with my key card and quoted me the price which was less expensive than my locksmith downtown. Later when I arrived he was just as genial in person. He made the key and rang up my credit card in less than five minutes - a great experience. read more

These guys are great! We needed a new cylinder for our deadbolt installed at home. Monkeys has been handling the locks at my office for years and have always been reliable. I've lived a block away from monKeys for 4 years and went on yelp to find a place to have apt keys made and saw their great reviews. And I agree; AMAZING. Excellent friendly service, no need to go anywhere else, even if you don't live a block away. read more

Got a couple of sets of spares made months ago & one set didn't turn smoothly in the lock when I tested them back home. Brought them back just the other day - months later - and Jeff was making quick work of a line that was nearly out the door. Five minutes later I was at the counter and had the spares re-done for free in about 1 min... they work great. He's quick, to-the-point, & no-nonsense, but gets the job done and takes pride in his work. If you're searching Yelp for a key-maker, stop your search and just go here -- this is the kind of place you're looking for. read more

These guys are amazing!! I am always scared about locksmiths cause I have heard some crazy stories. I am so glad I found them through yelp trusted the reviews and went in for a spare set of keys. I was in and out in under 5 mins but I wish I. Oils have stayed longer and chatted with them cause they are hilarious. The guy even gave me a different color key for my front door!! Fantastic service. Easy and super fast. Great place to get a key copied.

When you need a key made, go to a real locksmith. Having had keys made the prior day which did not work, and upon inspection did not even resemble the original key, I stopped by this place having seen the sign. The locksmith made the new keys, which took another place almost 45 minutes to do incorrectly, correctly in under five minutes. read more

Excellent service!! I moved into my apt and there was this hole where a deadlock used to be. Being a single woman living on the first floor apt makes a hole on the door a little bit inconvenient. So I walked over to Monkeys and they came over in 20minutes to install the deadlock and a door chair. Thank you! My parents thank you, too. read more
