    Hawaiian Poke Bowl
    Felicia M.

Food and service. I was pleasantly greeted upon arrival. My first time here, I didn't know what to expect. It was late afternoon and the is place is quiet and comfortable. I ordered the Hawaiian Poke bowl with tuna and salmon, crispy onions, cucumbers, carrots and rice. I took a look at it before leaving in case I needed sauce and glad I did. It didn't have sauce on it but he added the soy and spicy mayo right there on the spot. The bowl is huge! I couldn't finish it all at once. Great value! I will definitely be back! So great to have sushi in Little Village. Thank you!!! Next time, i will add a photo. I went back! I promised a photo, so here it is!

We went tonight and it was delicious! I had the monster bowl and it was 100%!! We left talking about adding it to our restaurant roster while supporting the neighborhood!!

10/10! Delicious food. I love the blend of Latin and Asian cuisine with many selections to choose from. Many vegetarian and vegan options to choose from also. Food fresh, prepared to order, and presented beautifully. The customer service is top tier. Very patient explaining the menu and tailoring rolls to your taste. I tried the Mexican roll, which consists of white tuna, cilantro, avocado, jalapeño topped with lime spicy mayo, and Sriracha. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the spicy crunchy shrimp as well. My date ordered the vegetarian rolls and finished them before I could take a photo. No worries, we look forward to trying more menu items on our next visit.

Came in for lunch during the week and overall had a great experience. We got there right when it opened and we're quickly attended by the owner and chef. We saw a lot of people picking up to go orders and seems like the restaurant stays pretty busy. Our food was really fresh and we found the portions generous for the price. Given it's LV we appreciated the fusion and Mexican ingredients their incorporate into their food. Would love to come back and try the sushi burritos for sure

Mexican Miso Soup, Godzilla Roll, El Volcano Fried Sushi, Mexican Roll, and Poke Tostada

I was super happy to find a great sushi place by Pilsen! I wish I had found this place sooner. I ordered the Mexican roll, Godzilla, and el volcano for the sushi. All 3 were very delicious, especially the Mexican roll. I love the Latin spin some of the options have. I also had the Mexican miso and the poke tostada. The miso was so delicious! I do wish the tostada was a couple bite sized tostadas instead of one large tostada, but it was great regardless. Definitely visit and support this local business!

Was excited to see a sushi place In the little village area! Ordered the sushi bowl with spicy shrimp and tuna. While the flavor was decent , the heat level was a bit high for my liking!

Mine was a highball which really tasted like Tokyo, I was taken back on the first sip. We ordered the little gems, miso cod, edamame, duck yakisoba, hamachi sashimi, and chicken kaarage. I think you can go up there to get a drink and enjoy the views just the same, we went outside briefly for pix but recommend eating inside due to the windy conditions.

The best wait staff in the City of Chicago. I recommend the Tokyo Breakfast and a glass of Dom Perignon for starters. For those more interested in a traditional Midwestern breakfast they have plenty of eggs and always perfectly prepared to your liking. The best seating for cocktails is actually their rooftop lounge that is literally on top of the Chicago River and again looking at Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. now *this* is great okonomiyaki…read more coming from seattle and very recently having a disastrous experience at the only okonomiyaki spot in our area (you can read my past reviews for that), my two friends, my partner, and i were looking forward to having great okonomiyaki. thankfully, gaijin delivered! we came by on a friday night, and it was fairly busy. we wouldn't have been surprised if we were turned away since we didn't have a reservation. they ended up making space for us thankfully and we didn't even have to wait long at all. the inside of the place isn't that big, but it's not so tiny that it's cramped. when you sit down, if you are in a large enough party, you sit down in front of a flat stovetop to keep your okonomiyaki warm when the waiter brings it out to you. we started with some drinks. they were all very good - next time i'm trying that espresso goma-tini! i did get a lychee martini though, and it was a little strong of a pour but i still really enjoyed it. onto the okonomiyaki. we all ordered different ones so we could try them. every single one of them were delicious. i got the tofu osaka-style, my partner got the beef osaka-style, one of my friends got the fried shrimp osaka-style, and my other friend got the traditional hiroshima-style. each okonomiyaki is prepared perfectly, not too thick and not overly saucy (so it doesn't get soggy). the flavours are quite rich but also really nicely umami. sometimes, too rich of a sauce kind of overwhelms me, but the ratios are well-balanced. overall, truly recommend this place. probably some of the best okonomiyaki i've had. next time i'm in chicago, i'd love to go again. there's so many options to choose from and i want to try them all!

It's really cool in here because you can watch them make the Okonomiyaki in front of you! They had like a set meal going on which included soup and okonomiyaki and dessert, which was mochi donuts. The soup was pretty good, standard. The Okonomiyaki was such a big portion. I loved the little tempura bits on top and they were generous with the amount of shrimp. It's like a yummy savory pancake. I will say I didn't really enjoy the mochi donuts but I was so full I couldn't eat them until later so it may have been because they weren't as fresh and got hard. If you've been wanting to try Okonomiyaki you should check this place out!

The express lunch deal is so good! You get to choose 3 items from a nice list of options for $21!…read moreIt's really nice if you want to try multiple things or are indecisive. I got the salmon bowl, the salmon avocado maki, and tuna crispy rice. The salmon bowl was definitely my favorite. The salmon was cooked very nicely so that it wasn't dry, and I loved the miso glaze that they put on top. It added a very nice sweetness to the salmon and created a very nice char. It was pretty small portion size though. The salmon avocado maki was solid too. It was the most filling! You get 5 pieces :) The tuna crispy rice was just alright. The rice part was good, but there was a bit too much mayo in the tuna. The miso soup that came complimentary with it was good too! I like how generous they were with the seaweed. Such a nice vibe inside! It's definitely a nicer spot, but still casual enough for lunch. I wanna come back for dinner! Service was quick and server was kind.

genuinely one of the worst service experiences i've had in chicago…read more my friends and i were seeing each other for the first time in almost a year, so we came in excited and talkative. somehow, this was interpreted as us being excessively intoxicated. we weren't. the alcohol itself was NEVER the issue. restaurants should refuse service when someone is visibly intoxicated. the issue was an assumption about our table becoming a game of telephone among the staff. there appeared to be a staff or shift change, and whatever concern existed about our supposed "intoxication" was passed along rather than independently assessed. we were told we needed to get "food in us" before ordering drinks. we ate, asked again, and ultimately had to ask at least THREE times before being served. even then, our server made a pointed comment about how we finally had "food in us." i've eaten at sushi-san before and ordered drinks before food without ANY issue, so the contrast was jarring. then, when my friend finally received her drink, she was specifically told, "it wasn't you." if it wasn't her, who exactly at our table had been designated the problem, and based on what? apparently there was plenty of communication ABOUT us, just none WITH us. meanwhile, patrons who appeared FAR more intoxicated continued to be served normally. i also experienced an explicitly racist interaction with another patron in the bathroom who appeared considerably more intoxicated than anyone at our table. obviously sushi-san cannot control another customer's behavior, but the contrast was hard to ignore. they eventually brought us a sake bomb to make amends, but it was delivered with such visible reluctance that the gesture felt almost insulting. by that point, we ordered considerably less than planned because we wanted to leave. if someone is genuinely too intoxicated to serve, address them directly and respectfully. don't pass assumptions between employees, make a table repeatedly ask for drinks after meeting your "food in us" requirement, and tell one person "it wasn't you" while leaving everyone else to wonder who had been singled out. we came in excited to see each other after almost a year apart and left early because of the service. for a restaurant at this price point, the way this was handled was embarrassingly unprofessional.
