The food at Koto Hibachi is actually very good, which is why this review is disappointing to write. However, the customer service from the cashier needs serious improvement. This was my second time experiencing rudeness from the same tall, slim cashier. Over the phone, she repeatedly cut me off before I could finish my sentence and then hung up while I was still speaking. When I arrived to pick up my order, she was attempting to multitask and handed me the wrong order. Everyone can have a bad day, but after experiencing the same behavior twice, it seems to be a pattern rather than an isolated incident. I hope management addresses this and provides additional customer service training, because the quality of the food deserves customer service that matches it. read more

Although my son forgot to get his beverage out of the machine and they didn't give me my extra order of noodles that I paid for this place has some good food! I got the cooked sushi and also the chicken hibachi with noodles and the steak and shrimp hibachi. Everything was cooked to perfection. It's clean inside but we got ours to go . This is a young business with potential if it gets better at its ambience, its service and its flavor for its price. I listened to a radio ad for this place on WVON so I expected a sit down, waiter served and chef presented dining experience, as hidochu traditionally does. Nor the fast food you order and wait, while listening to bad music, experience I hot for $65. This establishment has tables and chairs but no table clothes, carpet or wait staff. If I wanted to see my meals' preparation I'd have to stand an watch like at a Subway fast food stare. The food was good (tasted like they buy lots of Laurie's Seasoning Salt and Sesame Seed Oil to make a little salty flavor, but that first bite was worth the potential reduced health risk). The food isn't bad it's just a fast food level and not the gourmet I was expecting. I want this place to thrive but in order to do that it needs to grow. Hopefully ownership can save its returns and grow this business out of its infancy (I ordered a chicken and combo hibachi and got two combos). I hope this place can get a hibachi table to serve one exclusive table at a time while still running it to-go volume, but it has to grow to do this. So I suggest you treat this as a nice to go Chinese food place l, as you won't get the hibachi experience. Then, hopefully management will save and grow the business organically. My sister wanted to try Koto, so we decided to order it one evening on a whim. The food was warm and packaged well upon delivery. It smelled good too, so we had high hopes that it would taste good. The rice was okay as well. We ordered both the chicken and steak. The meat seemed to be good quality and fresh. However, we enjoyed the chicken much more than the steak. We ordered a variety of sauces, much of which we didn't care for. I'm finicky, so I ate mine plain with soy sauce. My sister ate hers mostly with teriyaki sauce. I ordered mine with carrots and broccoli only, but next time I'll pay extra for just broccoli. I didn't care for the carrots. My biggest complaint is that the container is mostly rice. Only the top layer is chicken and veggies. I think half the container being rice and the other full half being chicken and veggies would be a better value. But I digress... The food was flavorful and decent. I'd probably order again at some point because it was decent, but it's not spectacular or anything. Koto has become a go to spot for Fast Food Hibachi for me. I discovered this place on Tik Tok and knew I had to try them out. I did place my order online and it told me that it would be ready in about 20-30 mins. When I walked in, I was greeted, and I walked to the counter and I let them know that I had placed an order online. They asked my name and my food was ready and waiting. I ordered Koto Combo with no vegetables side of Noodles and Garlic and Yum Yum Sauce. The Combo comes with Shrimp, Steak and Chicken all were seasoned very well. I enjoyed the sauces on the food as they gave it a little more flavor. I wasn't a fan of the noodles as they didn't give me that true Hibachi Noodles. Koto gives me the hibachi taste without the wait and the show (Nothing wrong with the show but when you seen one you've seen them all). Price rang is very affordable for what you get. I live in the neighborhood and often seen Koto, one day I went past and saw it was busy/popular so I decided to finally give it a try and see what the hype is about. I believe that Koto is a Black owned, local owned business which is always a plus. The concept of Koto is, a fast hibachi restaurant. So think of your favorite hibachi place, without the show and the chef but same quality and taste of food boxed up to go. Honestly, it is a brilliant idea. I ordered the Steak Hibachi with a side of the Yum Yum and Garlic sauce. I placed the order and it was prepared and ready in under 30 mins. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was still fresh and piping hot by the time I got home. I do not think the restaurant accommodates a large party eating in as there were only a few chairs and tables in the restaurant. I believe you are best taking it to go. The food portions were hefty, my plate had plenty of thick cubed steak, grilled veggies (bell peppers, onions, carrots, broccoli, and zucchini) on a bed of stir fried rice. I had enough for now, later, and the next day for lunch lol. I enjoyed not only the portions, the quality of food. Extremely fresh, well seasoned and overall enjoyable to eat. I ordered today chicken bowl online ! Bowl was horrible over cooked burnt chicken , burnt eggs in the rice and only 5 pieces of meat yes literally.. I referred this place to co workers before but only onsite don't no order online they'll send you anything and it's not black ppl cooking as to be blacked owned I shouldn't have to call the restaurant and tell them do not burn my meat or veggies. Been meaning to try this place. For some reason I thought it was a dine in restaurant. You can order your food and eat it there, but definitely a to go establishment. The atmosphere is comparable to any to go place with minimum seating. Service was average, nothing really did out. I had the combo hibachi, which comes with fried rice, veggies,chicken,shrimp, and steak. The portions are good. My steak was very tough to eat and it had a taste to it I wasn't fond of. It taste like ginger or teriyaki. It's extra for noodles and any sauces you want. You would think your meal would come with a complimentary sauce and pay extra for extra. I learned of this restaurant via a coworker and because I was informed that it is a black owned business, I really wanted to support. After entering the restaurant and reviewing the menu, my first encounter was with an african american lady, she is tall and slender in frame, her demeanor seemed a bit rude with her speech and directions on how to order at a kiosk. I allowed that to pass because maybe, I was overreacting. However two other patrons behind me were greeted differently and allowed to order at the counter. When the order was completed that same lady yelled and point to my bag, when I asked if she was referring to me and my order, she never replied verbally however her look of acknowledgment was rude and condescending. As I retrieved my order and proceeded to exit the establishment, I overheard the lady state to her two friends "I don't know what's wrong with him" which then spurred her two friends to related "have a good day" in a sarcastic and condescending manner. The employee of this establishment was very unprofessional and lack the humility to respect patrons without judgement. I questioned my coworker about her experience with ordering and she stated that she ordered from the counter, huh. After returning to work at least five of my coworkers asked the about restaurant, I shared my experienced and informed each of them to not patronized this establishment because of the behavior of the person I encountered. Wow. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! The place is always packed so put your order in advance. Okinawa Tempura roll was good. The "sushi sauce" is basically eel sauce, so it's a hint of sweetness. The pieces are big, so one roll is filling enough. Koto Combo was a perfect shareable amount and you get a little of everything. We added teriyaki sauce and the option to cook the food in it. There was a lot of flavor this way, but I'm sure without this option it's just as good. Koto is truly a hidden gem! Hibachi places can feel redundant and lack flavor but Koto stands out from the rest because of their food. Best fast causal restaurant around. We experienced fresh flavorful food served by attentive staff. We had chicken, steak, and shrimp with fried rice and vegetables. The sauces offered (especially the spicy yum yum sauce) were the icing on the cake. The restaurant was clean (the parts of the kitchen we could see, the seating area, and the bathroom) and our orders were prepared swiftly. We didn't feel like cooking within for like thinking about food, but we know we're hungry. So I was able to call the order in and young lady was very nice on the phone and let us try a variety of sauces. What we end up getting was the combo order which was the salmon and the chicken and the yum. Yum sauce I believe is called amazing tonight at 10:00. I'll definitely not cheap. My opinion in regards to Koto is slightly above average. Let's be honest, hibachi is a dime a dozen with basically no differentiating components between one or the other. There's pros here such as the "yum yum" sauce has a slight kick to it as well as it being a huge amount of food. The cons are probably the price simply because it's takeout, because of how it's plated the rice steams in the container leaving you with soggy rice by the time you get home & lastly they charge for noodles however if you went to a sit down hibachi said noodles would be included. I love the location & its proximity to my neighborhood, twas a 10 minute ride for me. I'd eat here again but only if I'm not in the mood to sit down at a real hibachi restaurant. read more

It's a nice small establishment, clean and has a nice vibe. While it's not hibachi cooked at your table the chefs are in view. Menu isn't extensive but I feel it has something for everyone. I love that they have sushi! Together my bae and I had the chicken hibachi (sans egg, sesame seeds, and zucchini), a side of noodles, and we also had the Toro sushi rolls. You get a container packed full of food. We got both the spicy koto sauce and garlic sauce and TBH I didn't taste much flavor in either. Me and my wife tried this place out the other day because we believe in supporting black owned businesses. We ordered online and it said that our food would be ready at 2:40pm. I ended up waiting inside the establishment until 3:22 for our food. That alone left a sour taste in my mouth. Then we get home and open our food she's missing half her order and my food was bland and greasy. We were both extremely upset and disappointed with our service, and the quality of food that was served to us.
