Overall: 2.6/5 [dine in]…read more The place is nice, but smaller than expected. They had bubble guns too, which was a fun surprise. We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

Our first time we went to alchemy, the service and drinks were great. We even got a couple apps for happy hour. The pics are from that visiti. Our second time we went to archive, which has a more traditional feel. And quite a bit later, and probably a better conversation area. How drinks have some classic? But there's definitely some unique ones. We tried a hot dog water, which is not for everybody. And probably not for us but love that they are getting adventurous. We also had a recommendation from the server for a drink that tasted like pozole... I would have never picked that, but it was delicious. Highly recommend for drinks.

Service was excellent, food and drinks were EXCELLENT, and the vibe/atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. A little dark and moody, and intimate. The space now has two distinct sides: Archive and Alchemy. Archive is a bit larger (occupying the old Rye space), while Alchemy is where the magic is at and that's the side we were at. lol The soft-serve margarita was sooo good - it literally tastes like Dole Whip! Highly recommend checking it out! And make sure you have reservations!

The Bowen House I…read moreabsolutely loved the historic feel of The Bowen House. It's not a very large bar, but I think the intimate size adds to its warmth and charm. The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

My husband is vegetarian and had plenty to choose from. He ordered veggie rolls, edamame hummus, grilled eggplant, and vegetable tempura, and really enjoyed everything. I had the spicy tuna on crispy rice, torched salmon roll, and soft shell crab roll. Everything was fresh, delicious, and a little more elevated than your typical sushi dishes. The cocktails were fantastic too. I had a tequila espresso martini, while my husband had a reposado Old Fashioned. Our bartender also recommended a half bottle of sparkling sake that I absolutely loved. Great food, beautiful setting, and excellent drinks. I've also heard their happy hour is epic, so we'll definitely be back to check that out!

We opted to sit at the sushi bar so we were able to see all of the action! First, our servers were amazing and made us feel welcomed from when we first entered and left for the night. My only complaint is our sushi chef, who took our orders, wasn't friendly at all. There were a few times I was nervous to ask for more sushi, etc. Other than that, we didn't let it deter our evening. We started out with drinks (cocktails were half off) and I ordered the PurPearl and I didn't care for this drink. I ended up drinking wine for the rest of the night. For food, we ordered a variety of items - softshell crab, yellowtail serrano, spicy tuna roll, wagyu miso roll, aburi trio, and a few nigiri pieces. All of the food was delicious and fresh! We ended with their white chocolate dessert and that was tasty as well. Overall, this is a great spot to check out for happy hour!

We were huge fans of Meddlesome Moth(which had closed a few months prior). The beer list didn't excite me(I'm a beer snob) but the bar vibe and the great staff quickly made me forget about that. We eat there twice a month now and when we don't get in on a regular schedule, we really miss it. I'm a huge fan of the steak frites and my wife loves the weekly pasta dishes which never disappoint. The cocktails are great and they're made by the friendliest barkeeps in town(Matt, Christine) Christopher keeps the place flowing and Brittani(owner) is great and always welcoming. The overall vibe is comfy and totally unpretentious. Goldies is a hidden gem but has quickly become a popular spot. Great spots like this don't stay hidden very long. Highly recommended! Carter L

We arrived around 6:00pm to a…read morenearly-empty restaurant to take advantage of a drink and burger deal that they were promoting, and were promptly told that they didn't have any seating for three people. We asked if we could pull up a chair to one of the tables on the patio (which was fully empty), and they begrugedly agreed. We sat down and waited. And waited some more. And then some more... After about 10 minutes my brother went up to the bar and asked if a server would be coming to take our order, and was told that they were busy (they did not look busy at all) but would get to us ASAP. Another 10 minutes went by and, as no one had still come to see us, we elected just to leave. They said nothing as we walked out of the restaurant. Aside from pulling up a chair on the (again, totally empty) patio, I have no idea what we did that could have made them so upset at us. The whole experience was really odd and super off-putting, particularly so as there was no communication at all from the wait staff.

A Happy Hour Hidden Gem in Dallas!…read more We took a day trip to Dallas to see the circus and decided to pop into a nearby bar for drinks and small bites. Parking was a challenge, but we opted for valet and, at only $10, it was totally worth it! We originally planned to check out Bar Eden for happy hour but accidentally walked into Paradiso, which is connected. Bar Eden is a little smaller and has more of an intimate, speakeasy vibe, while Paradiso has a gorgeous, lively atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the happy hour specials were perfect for afternoon drinks--cocktails under $10! The margarita was delicious, and the other cocktails were just as pretty as they were tasty. One thing to know: it seems there's only one restroom, so the wait can be lengthy. BUT once you get inside, you'll understand why...because it's basically a girl's dream photo booth! Definitely plan a little extra time for the bathroom selfies. We didn't try the food this time, but the ambiance and music were on point. The outdoor seating is beautiful and elegant, although it was way too hot for daytime lounging during our visit. Overall, I'd absolutely come back--especially for happy hour! Great drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.
