We were greeted as we sat down with the choice of lime, lemon, orange or cucumber for our water. Very refreshing. Our server was Angelica (pronounced a gel leeka) she was friendly at first. Almost felt like we were being rushed. We sat down literally sat down and were asked what appys we wanted. Uh. Need to look at the menu. Ok drinks. Same thing. She came back and took our order. We were with another couple. We both ordered. We had the demonico and the papa loca potato. It was all very good. The steak had a few pieces of silver meat but the flavor was quite good. The chim churri was delish. My only complaint was that my potato could have used 5 more minutes in the oven. It was just very slightly underdone. I love how they bring the steak out on a griddle that's hot and can cook the meat a little longer. Our cook was en point. As an appy we had the marrow bones. Delish. Again here only complaint would be a few more pieces of bread. We were given 3. It would have been nice to have minimum 8 so we could have all shared. Back to the server. They gave us a full bottle of water to pour for ourselves. As she dropped off our bill I asked for some more water "sure you bet" (spoiler I never saw any water) We were chatting with the other couple and she came back to ask for her pen back which I'm pretty sure was her way of asking for us to go. It was 8:30pm on Sunday. The place was half empty. Had it been packed and people waiting for a table I'd have cleared out long before we did. The food. Delmonico 4/5 Papa loca 4/5 Marrow bones 5/5 Service 3/5. Im one of those people that will go back to a 2 restaurant because tge service is good. We've come here a number of times now with family, friends, and work clients and it has always been very good. I heard it had been slipping and may be under new management, I don't know if that's true. Tonight four of us came for a good steak and a good drink on a summer Friday night. We decided to sit on the patio because it was sweltering hot inside the restaurant. We're about as easy going as it gets and patient, and rarely complain. Service was very slow, which is completely understandable when it's busy, but our server was completely ignoring the few people on the patio. Drinks went un-filled for 30 minutes at a time. When our food arrived, the steaks were lukewarm warm, vegetables cold. The stones the steaks came on had lost their heat, so we asked for two more, and those came semi-warm as well. The meat is incredible, but it's undercooked if it sits at the pass that long and can't finish on the stone as you eat it. We waited a bit longer to try and get a reheat, but about 30 minutes later the steaks was oxidizing in the air and we couldn't keep the flies off long enough to wait for our server to show up again. Two people in our party trained to share one of the replacement stones that was shot enough to cook a little bit, but the residual heat didn't last long enough, so they gave up. $600 after a $100 tip, which is usually more than worth it, but I don't think we'll be back unfortunately. read more

So far we've had two experiences at Sonora! Our first was wonderful! We sat in one of the rooms, it was nice and cool and the food was amazing. Today we went and we were sweating the entire time. My husband and the table next to us packed their food and preferred to eat at home. When we mentioned the heat to the waitress, after she asked why we were leaving, she said "I'm sorry you (felt) so hot" which felt a little bit invalidating considering the temp of the building was 85-90 degrees. It was cooler outside. We're all vary patient and low maintenance, but this was tough to ignore. Totally love the food but wouldn't recommend visiting in the summer if the temp outside is over 80 degrees. read more

Waiter had to be reminded of our order. The steak was overpriced and underwhelming. Ordered medium rare, steak was well done on arrival. Since I have never sent a steak back at a restaurant before, I had an internal debate on just eating it as is, but it was supposed to be Japanese A5 and priced accordingly and decided to send it back. The response from the manager left quite a bit to be desired. She then proceeded to double down when the re-fired steak arrived at our table. Steaks are served on an incredibly hot plate/rock/iron thing and will continue to cook after arrival, so plan ahead and order your steak rarer than you'd normally order and ask for an extra plate to account for the carryover cooking. read more

I was really excited to try this place and was trying to make the best of it but it was not good. The best thing were the free tostadas and salsa. It had a great crunch and flavor from the beans and cheese, and the salsa was fresh and spicy. We ordered the wagyu double burger and $90 rib eye steak. The steak was 50% fat. We've been to many steakhouses (including Asadero, Vue, Cuerno Bravo, etc.) and have not ever had one like this. It seemed like it was either drenched in oil or just an extremely fatty piece that should not have been served. We realized it the more we ate it. The burger was overcooked and bacon was extremely salty. I couldn't eat it or even take it to go. We ordered drinks as well. The beers were barely cold. I did enjoy the watermelon mojito. 3.5 Stars. Definitely the Zabuton, one of my main favorite cuts anywhere I go and it did not disappoint here. Medium Rare Plus is my temp and I ate it as slow as I could to enjoy it (as I always do when I really like something). Small gripe, the sea salt that came with it did not melt, and were like rocks in your mouth you had to break up. The Ora Salmon was delicious. The whole entree screamed healthy, green, and of course King with a nice crunch to it. Small gripe the baby broc was a bit bland. The Salmon was really nice though. El Ribeye was not bad, good, but nothing screaming. Between the El Ribeye $40 18oz, and the Zabuton $40 11oz its no question the Z for me! Of course if you want the extra meat then the Ribeye is your choice. I have no recollection what the creamy side we ordered was, but it was good! The Seasonal Vegetables I prefer a medley instead of a "pick one." Of course, when having steak you got to have mushrooms and for the most part was good but slightly slighty undercooked in the middle. Service was a bit impersonal, constant upselling every single trip to the table. A bit annoying but understood thats the way they are trained. I would suggest the upselling be toned down a bit, and the service was while with big smiles, it was a bit robotic. And the refilling of water was good, however it was spilling all over the table because she was so excited to see if we would re-up on drinks. I was a server, and it was a huge part of me learning so many valuable things in life, I'm sure she will hone the craft as time goes on. Cheesecake was good and a nice end to dinner. Had to wait 10+ minutes for the check though, and it was not tap to pay....I feel like no tap to pay to the table is a bit behind the times but I'm such a snob sigh. The space is nice, contemporary, airy. A manager maybe did come to make sure all was well at the end which was a nice touch. For sure should be in your rotation if you are nearby. Well, I wouldn't classify this place as the best steak house ever. The steak on the rock is cool, that's about all. Carne asada is solid but not the best I've had. Service is good but if I'm leaving 20% tip why do I have to poor my own water. Also we all left smelling like steak which is great in moment but two hours later we still smell like steak. I have been here a number of times and the food is amazing!! My most recent visit with my family wasn't about food quality but rather the hostess. We walked in when the open at 4:30 without a reservation knowing that half of the restaurant is reserved for walk-ins. The hostess made the rudest comment I've ever heard when she found out we didn't have a reservation. She made a noise with her mouth and tilted her head a said awww that sucks. Need more empathy from a hostess and less smart mouth. read more

It's so tender and flavorful and one of the most recommended! Atmosphere and environment was nice and clean. Service was one of the best we had. Ellie was such an amazing server and did a great job serving our party of 14. Will def be back because of her and made the experience very memorable. We had 3 kids with us and felt welcomed, they even have a kids menu that has good selections. They even have a menu for "kidtails" drinks. The only negative feedback I can give is that their rice was super duper salty. Not quite sure if that was normal or if the chef messed up. A hidden gem! We found this spot via social media. We came here on a Thursday night and we were shocked it was full by the time we left. When you enter you will notice the place is very well decorated and it's clean. Menu has lots of great options. The menu is not overwhelming like it tends to be in places like this. The food portions were perfect for us. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food we got. Food was delicious. Every bite was better than the last. Our waitress Meghan was very sweet and friendly. I've been here 2x now and came back because I could not get over the amazing steak I ate the last time I came, about a month ago! Parking is easy to find since it's located in a strip mall. service is always good and I enjoy the complimentar fruits or herbs to add to your water and the fried tostadas with beans and salsa. I really enjoy how the Vacío steak comes with a hot plate so I can cook it if needs to be cooked a little longer or just to have my meat hot during my meal. The Argentinian wagyu is soft and flavorful. You'll have to order sides since you only get the meat. So we got the baked potato which is huge and you can definitely share with another person. For dessert we ordered the rice pudding that was good too. Next time I go back I think I'll have to try the guacamole sine everyone's raving about It. read more

Certainly good food, and friendly service! You can see them making fresh salsa right as you enter. The salsa is super fresh and has the right amount of kick. You can also always ask for more salsa throughout your meal. We really like to put it on our steak as well. We've gotten multiple appetizers, steaks, loaded potatoes, and cocktails and it has always been awesome! Between my husband and I we always order an appetizer, a steak, and a carne asada loaded potatoes and we are always leaving full and with left overs. Only down side is that the restaurant is LOUD. The sound in the restaurant is not absorbed well and echos, so you have to talk quite loud to talk to people at your table. read more

Food: 5/5 - Vacio (medium-rare): I had the 14 oz American Wagyu Cross that's about 2-3 inches thick, very flavorful and lean, but also juicy and tender. One of the best steaks I've ever had. Though I prefer beef on the rarer side, I'll order a medium next time because even leaving the steak on the stone to cook took some time to reach desired texture.
