Surf & Turf special on Saturday
    Michelle R.

We used to go to this restaurant before it changed hands. It was a fave! We've tried Riverbend on a couple of visits!! The staff is friendly and attentive! Very helpful in recommending entrees. We recently came in Saturday evening. We sat outside and enjoyed the new sun sails covering the patio. It's beautiful out there. Our server recommended the Surf & Turf. She had ordered it that day and she said everyone who ordered it was very pleased. We tried it to share. It was very amazing! Great blue cheese sauce, delicious shrimp! I've yet to find a go-to drink. Hubs of course orders a beer. I like a great scratch margarita, or something citrusy. Still waiting to land that part. Overall, would recommend. Casual atmosphere. Lots of seating options. Family seating too.

    Mushrooms should have been composted

This is a new bar that soft opened not all that long ago. They kept with the decor of Half Lion so it's familiar if you've been. I popped in on Sunday morning and there was only one other person. Service was friendly and prompt. I went with a blueberry mojito, which was pretty damn good. For lunch I went with the mushroom mulligan flatbread. It was lukewarm, one note, bland, and the mushrooms really should have been tossed in the compost. You couldn't pay me to eat another one. My dinning partner when with the seafood chowder, which was "pretty good (with a shrug)" I noticed that the bread that came along with it was so hard that it was inedible. I know they're in soft open and there are kinks to work out, but I really don't see myself coming back.

We loved going here before it changed so didn't hesitate twice to trying the new place out. Inside, they didn't change much or anything at all. They do have daily specials and signature cocktails. Overall, if you're hungry and in the area, sure. But not a place I'd go out of my way to eat at. The food is basic, but decent. The calamari rings were half soggy, half crunchy with less than a handful portion. For $16, I'd pass. They do give you pretty generous sized fried jalapeños. My bf ordered a steak and chili. The steak and chili was good. Veggies still had some bite to it. Flavor was basic overall, nothing to rave much about. The mashed potatoes was his least favorite. Super dry and chunky.

We'd recommend this place to everyone! The venue is new, fresh, and spotless! There are plenty of large TVs everywhere, giving you a perfect view of any game from anywhere in the restaurant. The service has been excellent. Every visit, the staff is always friendly, helpful, and cheerful. The menu is impressive, and the food consistently tastes great. The only concern is that it doesn't seem to have a large following. We hope it's just because it's still new, but every time we visit--whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner--the place seems to have only a few patrons during our time there. Again, I'm hopeful this is just temporary because we'd love to see it become popular. We really enjoy this place and sincerely hope it succeeds.

After 7 nights of cruise food, we were ready to try something new and local. Sharp's was only 5 minutes from our hotel, and highly rated, so I figured we would give it a shot. We arrived at the restaurant to a full parking lot with people standing outside. However, when we went in, the wonderful hostess informed us there was no wait. The seater showed us to our table, and chatted with us about our day along the way. He also explained the 3 menus that he gave us, and informed us we were right in time for happy hour. Our server, Sam, greeted us promptly, and she was so incredibly welcoming to our family, answering questions about the menu items. It was so hard to decide what to order, so we ordered several small plates (Brisket nachos, Wings, Brisket tacos, fries, and mac and cheese, along with the complimentary cornbread). To our surprise, everything came out so quickly. This was probably the fastest service I've ever had at a restaurant. The servers who delivered our food were friendly and welcoming as well. Not only that, EVERYTHING we ate was phenomenal. The fries were flavorful and perfectly salted, the wings were fantastic, and the brisket nachos? Wow....the brisket was some of the best we've ever had, and the nacho chips even stood out. The biggest compliment is from our 15 year old who said that the mac and cheese is some of the best pasta she's ever had. Throughout the whole meal, Sam was so attentive and chatting with us about the restaurant and dessert options. I truly enjoyed everything about our experience. The food and service both were top notch. The only thing I didn't like about this restaurant is that I'll have to book another flight to Seattle from Michigan to eat there. I'll be recommending it to everyone I know though!

But if you want a solid,…read moredown-to-earth breakfast that actually hits the spot, you need to check out The Firestarter Bar in Kent. I've been in a few times and am impressed by the quality of the food. My hats off to the chef! Here's the breakdown of the meal: The Food Chicken Fried Steak: This wasn't one of those cheap frozen patties that's all breading. It was nice and thick with just the right amount of crunch. Sausage Gravy: The gravy can make or break this dish, and they nailed it. It was thick, savory, and had tons of flavor. Stuffed Hash Browns: I upgraded my regular hash browns to the stuffed version with bacon, and it was the best decision of the day. They were perfectly fried and crispy--exactly how hash browns should be. Over Easy Eggs: It's surprisingly hard to find a place that doesn't overcook these lately, but mine came out exactly as ordered. Pancakes: I swapped my toast for pancakes, and they were fluffy and light. They serve them with soft whipped butter and syrup, which makes a huge difference. The Service The real star of the morning was Debbie. She's essentially a one-woman show--running the bar, waiting tables, and serving everyone. She is absolutely awesome and keeps the place moving smoothly. It's rare to see that kind of hustle these days. The Verdict Don't let the "bar" label or the exterior scare you off. It's a friendly, welcoming spot with better food than most dedicated breakfast joints in the area. Give this place a chance--you won't regret it.

When I walked out, 45 mitinuetes later tables were still dirty. Perhaps staff could help each other out. Several times I observed staff leaning, or chatting with each other socially. Disappointed that the first impression was they aren't collectively trying to keep an appearance of excellence and attention .
