This is the worst Sonic. The food is hit and miss all the time. I noticed today the prices on the ordering board are less than what is charged at the window. If you order a shake any flavor including vanilla you get charged extra. The parking lot seems dirty most of the time and the landscaping is mostly dead. Ordered my food. The girl with blue hair couldn't seem to get it correct. Was not hard! 2 Cheesy pretzel dogs with grilled onions, just like the menu board says. I made NO modifications. But she kept saying - without grilled onions. I kept telling her WITH grilled onions. So she's repeats it back a 4th and it's correct.... so I think! I get my food & mistakingly I go drive off to get on the freeway, then decide to look in my bag & my foods wrong & even worse cold. I was just there 15 seconds ago. A chance opportunity brought me to Sonic in Ripon today. I have always wanted to try Sonic since I have only seen their commercial about a thousand times. I ordered a double cheeseburger combo. The cheeseburger was quite tasty. The carhop who brought my order was very friendly. But here's my problem, the fries. To be exact, the twelve fries that came with my meal!! WTF? Where did they go? I thought some had dropped into the bottom of the bag, but they were nowhere to be found! Did someone in the kitchen eat them? Someone call the cops because I JUST GOT ROBBED!!!! I have another gripe. It's supposed to be a fast food joint right? How come it took them forever to get my order? On the good side they were very polite about correcting it and the associate that helped me was very friendly and if she is not already deserves to be running the place. This was our first time going to this Sonic's as my wife & I normally go to the one in Tracy. Seth took our order through the drive-thru & he was extremely considerate for the "long wait" (although it wasn't very long at all). After taking our order through the telecom, he once again apologized genuinely despite us only waiting about four minutes after taking our order. We customized our drinks & most often times many individuals get it wrong (all we ask for is light ice lol), however Seth managed to get it right while he was busy! Fantastic customer service! Service can be REALLY hit and miss at this particular Sonics, which sucks since it is directly off the freeway and a major trucking and rest stop for people off the 99. For the times that my family and I have stopped at sonics it has been early morning, lunch, dinner and even late night snacks in the summer time. The food tastes good and it's hot, it just took too long to get my food while waiting in 100 degree heat. I saw one person and the manager working. I am from this small town and it hasn't been too bad, but today during the late lunch rush, the 10 minute wait was too long in the drive thru. The prices of everything have been going up and it was $20 for a few pieces of food for my wife and I. All in all, I would say that there are plenty of other places to eat that are better priced and they get you through the line within a minute or two. read more

Got a jumbo popcorn chicken, more than half of the chicken is just the breaded part. No chicken. Gross. Got a corn dog as well and tasted like it was microwaved. We didn't experience a problem with service here. Both the girl who took the order and the guy who delivered it were friendly. The burger was just ok. The chicken bites with the sweet chili sauce was excellent! Chili cheese tots were hot and full of flavor Regular tots hot and crispy but bland. I'll keep it short and sweet. My girl and I love sonic milkshakes (who doesn't) we ordered two milkshakes and barely received one. I took these photos moments after our server handed this to us.. I asked our waitress if this is how they came to see if she could do anything for us (Knowing they didn't normally coming like this) The woman told us they come "liquidy enough to drink through a straw" which I then was left as she turns away and walks off. This truly is America's Drive-In, they sell just about every American staple comfort food that you could want, from mouth watering bacon cheeseburgers to foot long chili cheese coney style dogs. Their food is pretty good in comparison with other fast food chains, but their drink and dessert menu is definitely where your focus should veer towards when you visit here. They have an excellent happy hour menu daily with drinks and slushies priced at half their normal cost, so when it comes to getting the most out of your money, this is where you can stretch it. If I were you, I'd come here during this time and grab a Route 44 size drink and let your creative side drive as you can choose any common soda like Dr.Pepper or Sprite or whatever you like and mix wild flavors and add-ins to fully make it your own, there are no rules when it comes to flavor. read more

So after a long day at work, I decided to stop by sonic and get a banana shake, ended up getting ice cream with a banana in it, this is the second time this has happened. I guess it's too difficult for these person to blend ice cream with a banana. Pretty pathetic for a small establishment. Sure I get the ice cream but I'm paying 8 dollars for them to put two things in a blender and that's it, when I could go save mart and get a tube of ice cream for 8 dollars. All I wanted to do was get out of the car (some people don't like eating in the car) and eat with the family. There us no counter or window to order your food from, just some drivethru like panel that you talk to the person in the druve through to place your order for outside? When you have employees walking by you cant have them take your order? Or have a window? Or even fix your order machine where I can input my own order. We left and went somewhere else. This Sonic location has really gone downhill in recent months. The food is still pretty good although service seems much slower. Also, my kids and i get slushies fairly often at both this location and the Tracy location. The Ripon location has gotten very stingy with the syrup amount in their slushies and never mix them. Most of the time the slushie doesnt even have enough syrup to change the ice colors. Last time my daughter got a mango one and it clearly had very little syrup and was not mixed in. I took it back and asked them to fix it at which time the heavy set middle ages lady gave me attitude insisting it was right. I even pointed out that we get them often from the Tracy location and they are much different at which time she told me the other location was wrong and probably giving me an orange one and not a mango one (like my daughter cant tell the difference in flavors). The manager intervened and told her to fix it but its not the first time their slushies have very little syrup compared to other locations. The ladies attitude and customer service was definately terrible and probably reflects the reason a 45y/o woman is working a drive thru window in the first place. Hoping they fix this soon or I'll just go to the Tracy or Modesto locations instead. read more

the other day i came here after a very long day with a lot on my mind, i have never been so sad but sonic is the one place where i find happiness, i was welcomed with a smile and talked to like a genuine human being, i know workers have a script to follow but they made it so enjoyable, i dont think ive ever experienced that type of happiness before, ordered as i usually do, a number 2 no onions and a sweet tea an a little side of tots, i waited not long at all and they came out with my tray, my face lit up in joy i feel like if i was being animated i would've been sparkling like a little girl when they see their idol before they find out that its the villain of the story and breaks their heart. i see this beautiful girl with the cutest smile and the sweetest tone asking me if i found everything alright and how my day was, i swear it was love in first sight i wonder who she was, so extremely gorgeous and sweet i could've married her on the spot, i grabbed my drink and smiled as i told her about my day and took my food gently making sure i didnt mess up her pretty nails with cute little stars on them. i paid, i drove home and sat down, and the first bite into my burger felt like heaven, like it was from a 5 star restaurant created by gods angels themselves, sinking my teeth into the tots next was delightful, small crispy and still hot i couldnt have asked for anything better than this, a few bites and sips later from my cold iced tea and i was finished. full and felt fulfilled. 5 star experience. My wife and I went there 9-6-12 at 8:20 pm Placed our order at the park and wait. And we waited and waited and waited and waited. When we finally got out order tweny six minutes later,mine was completely wrong, and she forgot my fries she said ill be right back with those. Ten minutes go by no fries. I walked inside to correct it and she said "oh I forgot your fries" so I had to wait another five minutes. I waited inside, once I got my fries I waited in the car for my burger you guessed it another seven minutes. Needless to say I'll never eat there again. The Sonic app has brought me back! Love that you get 1/2 price drinks when ordering on your phone. Then I just pull in and my phone asks me which stall we are in. A couple minutes later they bring out our order. Current staff is friendly and our orders have been perfect. I also just found out you can buy ice by the bag there. It is frozen heaven!! read more

We come here every time we go on trips for the last 5 years at least 6-7 plus a year. Service has always been long waits for drive thru. We stopped to eat at the tables it's much better and not too long. But drive thru is pretty bad. I agree with most of the people who wrote reviews who said the servers are rude. They really are and I'm unsure if they are burnt out from how busy it can get or if that's just how they are. But it hasn't changed much. Rarely we will get a server. The guy that gave us our food DIDNT have a mask on! I seen one girl delivering food with a mask on so I assumed that all the employees would wear one. When the guy got to our window he had NO mask on and gave us our drinks. Luckily my boyfriend who was in the driver seat receiving the drinks had a mask on. But I'm guessing he's just choosing not to wear a mask and doesn't care about himself or others. I have to wear a mask at work for my 10 hour shifts so I understand they suck and nobody wants to wear them but we all need to participate and stop the spread so this can be OVER! Yesterday at 11:30 AM I ordered two floats. One van ahead in line. I waited 15-20 mins. and 5 more cars behind me. I finally couldn't take it anymore. I went inside and confronted the Mgr. She said they were busy and that she had been on a break. How about taking a break at a less busy time? I asked why NOT have the van park and a carhop deliver their order. Instead of apologizing she decided to give me attitude. YES, I was rude! But still, how about hiring a Mgr. with common sense. Unfortunately, similar situation happened about one year ago. Been through this Sonic 3-4 times now and damn, I cannot believe I went back after the 1st time. Service is incredibly slow and oddly passive-aggressive. My parents have been through here and had eerily similar experiences except for one of theirs ended up in an argument as to who ordered what with an employee! Their location is prime. Truck stops are generally great places to get food as the businesses are used to volume and due to the competition, offer pretty solid product. Sadly, not this Sonic. They are pathetically inefficient at handling orders. I do not blame staff (although I'm sure they are not helping), this is a piss-poor management problem. I will be reporting this location to Sonic's Corporate Office and if you like Sonic, you should too. This location, in my opinion, is not a Sonic.
