I would give 0 stars if I could. First, the wait was insanely long. Upwards of 40 minutes. That's fast food? Second, I ordered a double cheeseburger and added chili and jalapeños. What did I get? A single cheeseburger with only chili on it. My girlfriend orders a single cheeseburger and added chili. She got a single cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato's, no chili. Went on a Sunday night to get shakes and some ice cream cookies. Drove up to a stall and pressed the button. Waited like for a good 10 minutes before a person answered the intercom. Ordered and paid. Like in 5 minutes the screen said it was being delivered. Then the screen went back to normal. I quickly learned that you do not go to Sonic for food, you go to Sonic for drinks. No matter how the commercials entice you, no matter how good the pictures look, no matter how you think it's hard to mess up a tater tot...go for the drinks. Now that we've got that down, we can all enjoy ourselves, right? I'm partial to the Cream Pie shakes (chocolate or strawberry though family loves coconut or banana) but have enjoyed a Chocolate Malt and Chocolate Peanut Butter. I also like the fruit teas and fruit slushies but if I'm going to drink empty calories, I prefer to do it with shakes...yum! In case you decide to ignore first paragraph as I did when I visited this Sonic, the tater tots here were horrible...undercooked and underwhelming. I know better though. This might be my least favorite Sonic but hey, it's the one I drive by the most. Also, they always give peppermints with your check at Sonic. We pulled into the Sonic around 1:30pm on a Sunday, we have utilized the drive through before but never the Park&Order service. We pulled up and an available spot and ordered a strawberry shake and a mix-in which is like Sonic's version of a Dairy Queen Blend-In. Within about 6 minutes, a guy rolled out on skates, with our orders and a couple of mints. I thought it was so cool. I heard they roll out to your car on skates. But I'd never actually seen it. Our orders were correct, tasty and really reasonably priced as compared to the local ice cream places. We didn't order any food so unfortunately I cannot provide any insight into the food items on their menu. We didn't feel rushed or anxious as we sat in our spot for about 15/20 minutes while we enjoyed our tasty treats. It is in a great location on route one, that makes for an easy pull in and pull out. And it was great service for us, and great experience overall. And if somehow you can make it there after 8pm, they offer half-price shakes ! Seriously winning ! read more

Yes this is a chain and yes it is simple food, but for those of us who only get to come here when they visit home, it is a definite must. After years of watching Sonic commericals from the New York City Metro media market, it's nice to see a sonic open in the area. It's Sonic and pretty comparable to what you find at most of them. A fun experience and decent menu. So why three stars? I drive a Honda Civic. The person in my passenger seat can't read the menu because the menu is so high for those in SUVs. It's super annoying. I recommend getting rid of the ads on the back of each of the menus and putting another copy of the menu so we can order more. Also, there is nothing on the menu REMOTELY healthy. At least McDonalds and Burger King make attempts at healthy. The texas toast is smothered in butter and everything is fried. read more

I'm lazy so I love fast food drive-ins! The menu is okay.. while burgers and regular tots are a staple at Sonic, it's really about the drinks. They use real ingredients such as onions in their sweet crusted onion rings. I had the blazing loaded bbq burger and the ring leader loaded burger the other day. Both were good, never too greasy but the blazing loaded bbq burger was really really spicy...As for the drinks, I recommend their fruity shakes. They use REAL fruits - you can really taste them, try the strawberry one! That same day, I had the orange creamslush.. I wanted to love it but it tasted TOO artificial. Also, I did try the hot dogs a while back but didn't taste great because it took a while for the food to reach home from NJ. I'm so glad that a Sonic opened in Farmingdale even though the NJ one is still closer. PLEASE OPEN MORE!!! I would choose Sonic over McDonald's and Burger King any day. What a fun experience! This was my first time at Sonic. Basically, you pull up to your own "drive through" of a sort, but you park there, order, pay, and then someone brings out your food on roller blades! This would be great for kids. Then, you eat in your car or at some picnic tables. The food is pretty good. The chili cheese tater tots are delicious, and the cherry limeade is great as well. Watch out for coupons! read more

Scamming much? First, the shakes are ok. Super thick and you need a spoon for it, not a flimsy straw. I usually order the peanut butter fudge and it turns out fine, hitting the spot. However the last two times coming here have made me heated. Each time, there was always something wrong. They have a promotion for half off drinks, milkshakes or slushies after 8. I ordered my milkshake and my friend ordered a slushie. The guy ended up charging us full price for the slushie and half off the milkshakes. So we asked why, when the drink we ordered was literally on the ad in front of us for half off. He said that the slushie wasn't part of it. The next time I came here, which was about three days later at 11, I asked them if the slushes were half off. After hearing no, I ordered three small milkshakes but they charged full price. I asked the lady and she said no the promotion was over and to "come back next year, honey". Assuming that she meant the summer, which it still is right now. Not to mention, the damn ad was in front of us again. If you're going to scam your customers by choosing when to not have the promotion but still keep the ad up, at least be consistent. This place isn't worth the frustration when the food and drinks aren't that great. Customer service is a fail here. Oh and the peanut butter fudge milkshake had no fudge whatsoever last time. Since my first experience in Florida, I am a huge Sonic fan and this location doesn't dissapoint. The sides, drinks and dessert are the real stars of the show, but the burgers and dogs are pretty good too. My biggest problem is choosing between a fruit slushie or a caramel shake... the trick is NOT choosing. My boyfriend got horrible food poisoning right after eating the coney island foot long. The chili looked like it was just the sauce from the bottom of the pot and the whole thing had clearly been microwaved because it was melted all over the place. He vomited and had diarrhea for two days nonstop. If you look in the window at the drive thru it looks dirty in there and people weren't wearing masks except the guy at the window. Don't eat here. First time in years since we stopped in at had Sonics. Make sure you tell the cashier ketchup or mustard when the combo is offering those options. They never asked me , and they filled my burger up with Mustard, and no ketchup. I asked for "no"onions, and sure enough they put onions on my burger. We got the chili and cheese tots and French Fries, they were bonded together like they were sitting under a warmer for a while, you can actually pick up the whole tots with a fork , they barely had any chili and cheese on them, and they were mushy. Weird, mushy but you can pick up the whole basket of Tots up together.. Let me know how did your come out? Fries should be crispy and fresh. To go out in these times, the food should be almost perfect, and double check your orders before leaving. We had to ask for forks, and napkins and I had a mustard burger with onions. Sorry about the review, but my wife who never complains , couldn't believe how bad the food came out. For the amount we spent for only 3 people, it should of been a lot better. Unfortunately, my family won't be returning back for food of they prepare their food like this. My son did say his grill cheese, and his milk shake was good. read more
