Chicken Empanada
michael a.

This is nice little off the main street area of Metuchen restaurant. I got there just as it opened since I had somewhere else to go to afterwards. I was seated quickly and my waitress arrived shortly after. It has very limited seating but it's charming I started off with the chicken empanadas and they were very good with just the right amount of spice and the dip they gives you seems like a mix of ketchup and mayo which compliments the empanadas perfectly. My main dish was the B.E.K.Y(Brioche hot dog bun toasted with house cheese, bacon, fluffy egg, and topped with our KEWPIE mayo and fresh chives). It was perfect combo of a omelette and bread. The breakfast potatoes was very good as well they were tasty and crispy which is how I like them. Overall I recommend the place although seating is pretty tightly packed together the food makes up for it

This is not a drill!!!! For Galentines Day, me and the bestie pulled up since it was the shortest wait time for spots in the area and thank our lucky starts! The menu alone will have your lite watering! I preferred a ube latte for the wait and both our table and my latte were ready at the same time! Cute spot, chill vibes and outstanding service! ..... Now for the food!!!!! The only downside was there was not more than two of us to try more of the dishes! E V E R Y T H I N G we had was finger licking delicious! Periodt

Do I want to gatekeep this place? Absolutely! Should I? I can't. Especially since the owner really wanted us to talk about it. The only knock I have against it is that it's not easy for me to get to living in Jersey city and with no car. Genuinely would rent a car once a month just to eat here. That's how good the place is. Service was pretty decent for a small place and it was popping. Owner was really nice always checking up on us and doing his best to keep us going. The waitress was also very accommodating with how big back and messy we were. Not a single crumb wasted. All the food was good. I kinda wish I had the option to trade waffle fries for the tots/home style potatoes because them thangs was exquisitely crunchy and soft at the same time. I love the additional runny egg yolk on any slider. Next time I'm coming for the chicken because my cousin ordered that and lemme tell you how much chicken excess there were. Messy eats means delicious in my book. I'm not normally a sweets person but that ube cream cheese or icing was so good I was actually about to be a sweets guy. Overall , this place is a 100/10. And it's halal. Makes it ever better.

Park Your Backside @ Parkside Eats What a fantastic new addition to Metuchen! This spot, serving LUNCH-BRUNCH-MUNCH, is all about American comfort food with a global twist, and it absolutely delivers. From the moment we walked in, the hands-on owner greeted us at the door, warmly explaining the menu and sharing the concept behind each dish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the whole experience even better. After the customers next to us finished eating the owner and staff wiped down the table and all the seats before they sat the next group. The Korean BBQ sliders were a flavorful, mouth-awakening start -- perfectly balanced and full of bold taste. The Krab BLT was light, fresh, and delicious. Then came the Ube Empanada, served fresh and piping hot with sweet ube oozing out -- a total treat! We paired everything with a refreshing mango iced tea and capped the meal off with an Ube Float that was simply perfect. The small indoor dining room has cozy, cool vibes, and the outdoor seating makes it a great spot for any time of day. I'll definitely be back to try more of their creative menu -- this place is a winner!

The first meal of a weekend getaway can really set the tone, and Parkside Eats in Metuchen didn't disappoint. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe and the service was excellent. And no worries, there's a parking lot across the street. I ordered the Brown Better Maple Chicken and Waffles, which were absolutely delicious, crispy, and flavorful. I have also tried the guava and cheese empanada that was just as tasty. Both my daughters loved their meals too. I already know I'll be coming back because the foodie that I am, couldn't stop eyeing the lobster truffle fries at the next table. Parkside Eats is definitely a spot worth visiting for brunch if you are in the area.

If you happen to be in the area, you need to go to Parkside Eats! We arrived at 9am for a birthday breakfast as a party of 8. We didnt make a reservation, but the staff was extremely willing to make space for everyone when we arrived. Its a small building, but you don't feel cramped. We tried a variety of different plates: the ropa vieja empanadas, grits, pancakes, waffles, steak bowl, the side chix, tostada egg enchilada, and the table favorite, fig empanadas(shout out to the owner for the recommendation)! Every dish was a 10/10! Everything tasted fresh and was perfectly seasoned. Make it a point to come here the next time you're looking for a great breakfast option.

Amazing experience. A top brunch spot in NJ. Food is so good, I only wish I had more room to eat. Had the spicy chicken sliders and Korean beef sliders as well as the ube French toast and WOW! The service was spot on and great ambience. I'd bring anyone here for a great brunch and will be back soon!

Guava and cheese Single Empanada

Came here for a weekend brunch and was happy to see the wide variety of options they had! The hardest challenge was deciding what to order since everything looked so good. Our waitress Jada was so helpful and made great recommendations! We got the A V O toast and the Frutopia French toast + a guava and cheese empanada to share. I recommend going one savory and one sweet item to experience the menu! Cute decor and inviting spot- will def be back!

Place need to be more clean such as table and seating . Also don't reuse the water that is served to another customer.. saw it in person . Pandan float is good but the Pandan waffle does not taste anything Pandan but look good. Steak is decent . And beef empanadas is normal . Service are slow Not recommend coming here especially what I saw . Pouring customer cup of water back into the severing water bottle .

Korean BBQ Chicken Slider and avocado toast with chili oil

My bf and I got brunch at Parkside Eats on a Saturday morning. We were initially a bit confused since there was a sign on the door that said something along the lines of "We apologize for the inconvenience, we are undergoing renovations." However, we realized the place was still open once we saw someone inside. When we got seated, there was only one other family of 4 in the restaurant. Despite the lack of other customers, it took a while to get the menu, for our orders to be taken, and for our food to come out. We ordered the avocado hot chili toast and Korean fried chicken sliders. The food looked nice and it tasted alright, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the hot chili on the avocado toast. The place began to fill up throughout the duration of our meal. Overall, our meals were fine, but we probably will not be returning to Parkside Eats.

My husband and I are on a roadtrip from miami and per yelp this place looked amazing so we stepped in to try some appetizers at a new spot . The location was supper cute , nicely decorated, the service was friendly , very attentive and quick . For food, we are so sad we were in a rush cause we were only able to order two things , wings and empanadas which were both so flavorful that I can only imagine how good the entrees would've been . Next time we go up we will be trying a lot more !

Take my money! This place is such a find. The reviews were on point and didn't lie. It's a small quaint restaurant with Latin fusion manual items. Everything that we've tried so far ( and we've been here three times so far) has not disappointed. The service staff is very attentive and friendly and I got to meet the owner/chef who you can immediately tell he's cooking from the heart. Reservations are recommended because this place gets packed...for good reason. This is my go to spot!

Fantastic spot. Everything was fantastic from service to food. Don't miss it! The guava cheese empanadas were

It's wrapped in a scallion pancake/parotta type bread. The yellowtail jalapeno was amazing!! Melt in your mouth and packed with flavor! For the price you can't beat it. The usuzukuri was also very good, lighter in flavor though. For rolls we ordered a ton: Out of Control Roll, Spicy Grill Roll, Flying Dragon Roll, Foxy Lady Roll, White Geisha Roll and the Tuna Amazing Roll. All of them were spectacular! We definitely could have eaten more (there were 5 adults). Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and you got a ton of fish in the rolls. Service was attentive, nothing over the top but also not overbearing. I definitely will be coming back here during my next visit.

We had a party of 6 and still had to wait about 25 minutes for a table as the place is pretty small. Right after we sat down we accidentally spilled a glass of water and it took so much effort to flag down a waiter to get some napkins. They didn't even help us clean it up, we could barely mop up what was on spilled on the table because they gave us very little napkins. Then when we asked for more napkins when the food came out the waitress counted it out and gave us exactly 6, one for each person. As for the food, a big disappointment. The tuna was not the bright pink color it normally is and instead had a dark red/purple hue to it, a little concerning. The yellowtail and squid were super chewy. The mackeral was very fishy, which I understand mackeral is on the fishy side for raw fish but I've had it in Japan where is was the exact opposite. Honestly, the only fresh tasting fish was the salmon. The food was slow to come out even though the wait staff was very attentive with grabbing our menu orders. Most likely will not be returning.
