The bartender was pleasant and conversational. I really enjoyed my drink. I am not one to normally get a mixed drink and if I do, it is usually in the margarita family. This was tasty and the dehydrated lime on top a nice touch. It was a mild evening so we sat outside at the bar. We sipped our beverages and watched the world go by for a bit.

As if that isn't fun enough, they have a rubber ducky scavenger hunt - which was so much fun! If you're reading this, and are not sure if it's doable - it is, we completed it, and won a 6 pack. The beers are really good, you order at the bar, then have a seat wherever you like. The bartenders are super nice, and may confirm a duck or two if you are debating about the colors of one/what you are seeing. While there isn't good here, you can bring food in - we ordered from the Mexican place next door this time, and it was delicious. Highly recommend stopping in, and enjoying a beer and the festive decor, before they close!

My partner and I chose a picnic table outside, since we had our dog with us, and we were quite comfortable. The interior seating looked great, as well, but we didn't want to intrude with our dog. We ordered a beer each (both of which were great) and some food. I am knocking off a star simply because the food really was not great. The little pizzas were (and I say this with almost complete certainty) the little pizzas you get at Costco. The burrito tasted really stale, and I watched as the woman took it out of a drawer and stuck it into a microwave. I imagine it had been there all day and was made maybe the day before/that morning. It is clear that the food is not fresh, and it is very basic. I would not come here for food, but I am excited to come back for drinks! It seems very local, which is just the way I like it.

Oh, and my sando was delicious and the service was excellent. 20MAR2018 A quiet Tuesday afternoon. Enjoyed a delicious Hogshead ale. 26DEC2015 Still crowded. Still has delicious pizza. Still has a terrific beer selection. Still has friendly staff. I am still happy. 05DEC2014 It was crowded. This is why no one goes here anymore. Walked in at 1415 and it was packed. Enjoyed great beers (3rd beer free!) and a 9/10 Reuben. Superb mango gazpacho. Drew and his crew make the best food. Great service as usual. Two kids (along with Mom and Dad) sitting at the bar. I hope they drank some beer. Still only 2 blocks from my house. 27FEB2012 What is with the Yelpers voting Hops & Pie as "not good for kids"? 1. All kids like pizza. 2. Some kids like beer. 3. Some kids like soda. I think Hops & Pie is great for kids and I see lots of them there whenever I visit. 08JAN2012 Why isn't it named "Hops and Mac"? As in Macaroni and Cheese and bacon, ham hocks, peas, IPA. Went on a Sunday afternoon (will I be happy when the Donkeys are no longer on TV) to drink beers and eat. Decided to "step outside the box" and ordered "Mac & Cheese" instead of pizza. This is the best M&C I have ever eaten in a restaurant and it will also make me step up my efforts at home. 18DEC2011 I arrive at 1347 which is 13 minutes before they open on a beautiful warm Sunday afternoon in Denver. There are people (shall we refer to them as "alcoholics"?) who are also waiting. When the door is unlocked (3 minutes early), 14 people rush in. At 1406, it is standing room only. What makes this place so popular? Could it be the Avery Brewing tasting flight? Rumpkin beer. Could it be the slice of the day: Cheeseburger? Could it be the excellent bartender service? I remember when Bookbar occupied this space many moons ago. I used to like that place a lot. Well, I'm also beginning to like the new life My Boy Tony has brought here. It caters to a younger crowd, whether you're bar hopping on Tennyson with a group or looking for a spot to take a hot date. For better and worse, it's a neighborhood bar at its core. The most shocking thing is how they transformed the space from the previous tenants. It has a beautiful open layout with nice furniture and design. The bartenders are generally friendly and prices are in line with similar cocktail bars in Denver. The few times I've been here I've been in a cocktail mood. Negronis and Old Fashioneds are made well and are slow sippers I enjoy. They do have a nice selection of wines that I'll have to try when it tickles my fancy. The only hiccups here for me are some really long wait times for drinks. They usually have two bartenders and sometimes it gets really backed up. No one is running the floor when I've been there bussing and wiping down tables. Though I understand with a location here it can go from being empty to completely slammed in a matter of minutes! If you're looking for a cool, comfortable bar without the pretentiousness or judgment, check out My Boy Tony.
