We went here for dine in and ordered dukboki, chicken wings and chicken bites. Duckboki and chicken bites came out quick (maybe 10 min) but we waited almost 30 min for chicken wings. We already expected the long wait as it was written pn the menu. We felt that ddcukboi is pricey ($15) compared to other koream restaurants, but the quality was worth it.. The rice cakes were good and sauce too. The soy sauce chicken tatsed very good, crunchy and juicy. The spicy chicken tasted a little too spicy. As local residents, we will definately come back for chicken bites and try other different foods. read more

Wow! I am so happy we have a Korean go-to place in the Ashburn/Chantilly area! The soups (jjigaes) are outstanding - very authentic flavors. They have Korean chicken (similar to Bon Chon/Chimac), Korean ramen, excellent Bulgogi/Kalbi, etc. I think their kimchi is nearly identical to my Mom's, so it reminds me of my childhood. I highly recommend this place. I'd even prefer it to many of the Annandale/Centreville/Chantilly Korean restaurants! I love the owners and frequent this place. My personal favorites are the kalbitang soup, fried dumplings, and bulgogi for family ordering. read more

I'm pretty excited to have this new option in my neighborhood, as authentic ethnic food options, particularly korean food, is very limited in the area. But the employees are so very nice which compensated for our appetizers coming after our entrees and the lack of flavor. We got: - seafood pancake (pretty good flavor, but they forgot to provide sauce, had to ask) - ddukbokki (was fine) - boneless fried chicken in spicy (no flavor!) - bibimbap (was fine, they forgot to provide sauce and we had to ask again) - the banchan was kimchi and radish kimchi. This is in Stone Ridge/Aldie Va even though the physical address says Chantilly. Food and service was great. Last call for kitchen is 9:30pm on Sundays. I got their galbi-tang and the boneless chicken. Galbi-tang was okay. It was more on the oily side which I didn't particularly care for. The chicken though... on point!! Lol. I asked them to make it extra crispy and omg. Delicious!! It's normally topped with sunflower seed and almonds. We just got them on the side cause we had someone with us who has a nut allergy so the photo I took doesn't have the toppings on it. Excited to have this new location. Love the friendly service here. I always get my order to go, & the owner is so polite in taking my order. The food is also amazing! My go to chicken was Choongman, but after discovering this place I was hooked! I love the spicy wings chicken. Crispness, size is just right. The fried dumplings is also a must try. If you're on a budget and just wants to try a little of everything, the lunch bento box is a must! read more

I don't recommend the Galbitang because it had a very plain tasting broth (they offered salt and pepper with the dish...) I asked for a refund after taking a few bites and the servers told me the manager refused. Definitely not the best Korean place ive been to. Food is ok.... The chicken bites are probably the best thing to get. Donkatsu was soooo tough like leather and can tell it's been frozen for a couple of days if not weeks. the portion was SMALL. Also, took 45 mins for them to make two things when no one was at the restaurant. read more

What? I haven't reviewed this place yet? Long overdue review for our new favorite area spot for Korean fried chicken! Bonchon is conveniently down the road, and a few others, but Somac remains the best option. Their fried chicken is so flavorful, and the seasoning permeates the skin and soaks into the flesh, not like other fried chicken places where the fried skin is great, and then what's beneath is impossibly bland. Besides Somac's star dish, they also excel at more traditional Korean bites and slurps, like soondubu, galbitang, kalguksu, etc. I am not as big on their fusiony dishes, but they do them well, too. All in all, a great neighborhood spot for superb Korean fried chicken and more homey soups and plates, if that's more your speed. Service is always friendly whether we dine in or get carryout. I went to Somac for dinner for only the second time since it has been opened. For some reason I keep forgetting that it is near me due to its location and lack of advertising. I guess out of sight out of mind. Both times the food was excellent. I have lived in Asia and this was the closest to authentic Yakisoba that I have ever had in this area. My only complaint is the serving size for the Yakisoba. The container was half full. For $17 you expect the container to be full. read more

This place has to be taken on it's own terms, it's worth it, but do it the right way, or you'll run into trouble. Do not: Try to order takeout at the desk. Expect a quick pop in pop out. Do: Order takeout an hour in advance. Bring friends and spend a couple of hours. The food if phenomenal, but it's all cooked fresh. Any of the fried chicken will take at least 35 minutes to be ready, but it's worth the wait. Other things will come at other speeds. Bring a group, order your chicken, and then have apitizers, shared entrees and drinks while the chicken fries. Savor each new dish as it is brought out, and enjoy the company of people who you actually like; then sink your teeth into the crunchy goodness of the chicken. Or, phone in your order and believe them when they tell you how long it will take. The space is clean and well lit, there are TVs, and while they serve alcohol, you may see well behaved kids there as well. read more

Sure, the place is under-staffed and they kind of run behind, but they cook as the order comes through, which is understandable that things get delayed. Taken into consideration the currently situation we're in, the food and wait is worth it in my opinion. I would rather have less hands dealing with my food, but that's a personal opinion as well. The food quality is still top-notch, and would definitely pick here over other Korean fried chicken places in the area. Owner/manager (not sure which exactly) is very courteous and nice. She also said she is confident her food is 100% good (which I don't know why it shouldn't?). My food was a lunch order and the yookgaejang was very good and tasted fresh with the right amount of spice. Also ordered the chicken wings and my favorite was soy garlic. The sweet and spicy wings tasted lacking in flavor but that may be because I'm used to traditional sweet spicy KFC. We also got an order of spicy pork lunch box which came with crispy pieces of tempura vegetables which were a nice addition to cool you off from the spicy pork. This was my first time visiting this spot. It is located kind of in a far off set part of South riding, but I would definitely try it again. My coworkers and I ordered here for lunch and picked it up for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by the very polite ladies working. We placed our orders online, which I was surprised at how smooth and well put together the ordering system was considering its a small place. They even had an order queue for online orders, I was happy to see that type of organization. On to the food: I ordered the lunch special Bulgogi burger which came with fries. For something that I picked up almost 30minutes later than I was supposed to, I really loved it! great amount of fries came with my order and it still tasted delicious! Not too many places have good tasting food that is almost room temperature. I would definitely recommend this Korean spot if you're in the area or looking for a new spot to try. If you plan on dining in, not too sure how packed it gets for dinner, but lunch there was plenty of tables available.
