Also loved that they had packets of hot sauce available. My son got a bagel with cream cheese and my partner got a bagel with butter and jam plus a chai latte. Only note is that the bagel came with a ton of cream cheese, so if you don't like it piled on, I'd recommend asking for light cream cheese. The decor makes you think of what you'd find at an eccentric great aunt's home, but in a positive way. Each area has its own mini aesthetic that contributes to the entire place; in the back are color themed books that give it a more serious look, while upstairs is more whimsical in it's random assortment of chairs and couches. There is also plenty of indoor and some outdoor seating. Parking is a bit sparse, so you might have to look a bit of park across the street. When you walk in, they have cases of pastries that you can choose from. You are able to grab the pastries from the cases yourself. I ended up with 4 pastries. I really enjoyed the bacon and cheese bread pastry that I got, it was tasty. I tried the strawberry croissant roll which was okay, it was crispy but lacking flavor. The cinnamon roll was disappointing, I prefer my cinnamon rolls to be soft over crispy. Also the almond croissant was okay, it didn't have a lot of flavor. I also got the dirty chai latte, which I didn't like. It had so much cinnamon, I had a hard time drinking it. They even put a large cinnamon stick in the drink. We are suppose to be eating healthy but they looked too good to pass up! The service is great here. There were no pistachio croissants out so I asked the cashiers and baristas if there were anymore. I was so excited when I got to Chateau de Chantilly. It's not every day that I'm in this part of NoVA so I convinced all my friends to stop by on our way out of town. By the time I got home, the matcha crinkles I got were super hard (almost impossible to eat), and the only thing I was really able to eat was the red velvet cake that I did not regret one bit (though - if I did have one piece of advice, it would be to switch to cream cheese frosting). I come to this cafe weekly and usually am met with fantastic drinks and ambiance. Today I was met with the opposite. I came on Sunday, May 31st, around 2:00pm with a couple friends and we ordered a strawberry matcha with oat milk. We've had it multiple times before and never had an issue with the taste. This time, we were not satisfied with the taste, which was okay because we were going to communicate it with the staff and hopefully resolve the issue. When presenting this problem with the staff, we were met with passive aggressive and rude attitudes the whole transaction. We had communicated that we were unsatisfied and if we could return the drinks (we did not drink out of them, besides the initial taste) for another drink in exchange. The initial worker I talked to seemed dumbfounded as if I was the first customer they had ever spoken to that was unsatisfied with their drink. Another lady with braids came to speak to us and this is where the passive aggressiveness began. To reiterate, we had no issue with communicating our issue and finding a solution without causing any unnecessary problem. It felt like me communicating my dissatisfaction with the drink was an inconvenience to the staff. If customers don't feel comfortable conveying their concerns comfortably to the staff.. why should we continue to come back. read more
