Something about sitting in almost complete darkness with a decadent cocktail makes me feel alive. Great food and better drinks. I especially like sitting in a zone that's marked "high traffic" on the reservation app. People really can't see where they're going in there...my buddy almost got knocked over by some guy in a rush to the car with a pizza box. That being said, if a high-paced environment doesn't suit you, there are plenty of romantic little tables out of harms way. Don't worry about reapplying your lipstick before entering....everyone looks perfect in the candlelight of a soma table. read more

Just a quick review. The pizza is terrific & the burger is even better! Got a large plain cheese which was near perfection! Also got the Chicken Parmesan Pizza. Also terrific. 9.0 on the plain cheese and 8.5 on the CP pizza. I just prefer lager pieces of fried chicken, but it was very good. I'll be back! read more

By far- my favorite pizza in Beverly and Salem. Can't go wrong with a plain cheese well done, ask for a side of their homemade ranch and blue cheese too. We get it at least once a week! read more

Never disappointed when I come here. The somatini is delicious. This place is great at the bar or at a table. They humas and bread for the table brings out my inner glutton. I've been here 6 times in the last year. I'm newer to Beverly so I keep meaning to try new places but when i know somewhere is good I don't want to chance my dinner and drinks. read more

This place probably has the best food in Beverly. I have never been disappointed with my food here. The only complaint I have, is that reserving a flat top is pretty much pointless. I've done it a few times. It's never one free at the reservation time. You basically have to wait for one to free up, like you normally would, without a reservation. The bartenders are professionals and the drinks are great. read more

Soma is one of the best spots in the north shore if you're looking for good quality food and a relaxing ambiance at night. I got the mushroom ravioli and it was the perfect portion and so delicious. I also tried the fish tacos (not the best pic) but we couldn't help ourselves can't wait to go again and dive into the drinks. read more

5 stars, can't wait to go back and try their pizza! This place has great cocktails and food. I had the strawberry basil martini and the blackened chicken. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. They serve you bread with hummus which was an interesting twist! It was fairly dark inside which for me is no problem but I could see some people not liking that. This seems like a great place for dates or a girl's night. I went on Friday around 5 and go in no problem. It quickly got packed as we ate so keep that in mind. read more

Have not been back since Covid. Great cosmos and other cocktails. We loved the pizza and the arancini was amazing.

Food is amazing!! Tuna is so fresh. Swordfish was the best I've ever had. I am super picky about swordfish because it never comes out good. This place nailed it. My boyfriend got the mushroom ravioli- hands down amazing I forgot about this place ,but I will for sure come back. Service was great and fast and it's not like those chain restaurants with mediocre food. Portions, are great as well. Drinks are fun and they are stingy. Can't wait to come back! read more

Great dinner before a show on New Years eve. Octopus appetizer Lamb shank, pork tenderloin all great. I have lactose intolerance and they fashioned my meal to fit my needs. Will return for another meal definitely. read more

Service was horrible. Seat yourself, wait 25 minutes for the server to come to the table. She told our party of four that it would be an hour before we could expect any food. The server was fraught and rude. She informed us that there was a large party that was clogging the kitchen. She then told a tale of how there were only two servers and they were working very hard. Sorry we tried to get food at your restaurant but it is the management that didn't staff enough for the dinner rush. I guess we should have been more understanding and tolerated the poor service but to also comfort the server for being busy and working hard. Would never go to this place again. read more

Soma is the first restaurant my husband and I went to after moving to Beverly a couple months ago. It's highly recommended and we had a pleasant experience. Service was good, it's a nice ambiance (not fancy and not too casual), and the food was good. I don't remember not liking anything. If you want a classic nice dinner then this is a good spot with a wide variety menu of good eats. read more

We had tickets to a show at the Cabot & wanted to try Soma. So glad we did! The butternut squash soup was the best I've ever had & my husband loved his RI style calamari. For entrees we got the ribeye special & salmon. Both were absolutely delicious. Will definitely be returning! read more

I just placed an online order for pickup at 8pm- 30 minutes from now. I opted to "schedule for later" instead of "ASAP". I can't get there before 8. It's a pizza. Soon after ordering, I get a text saying that my order is now ready. Ready to eat now. Problem is, I can't get there now. erghhhh I wish that I was looking forward to picking up my cold pizza at 8:00pm. I am confused as to why there is an option to 'schedule for later' when the order will be ready "ASAP", regardless??? It's a good thing I didn't schedule it for 9pm. I'm going with Elios from Stop and Shop next time (for $3.19). At least it will be hot. (Why spend 20 dollars on a cold pizza??) read more

I wasn't sure how to rate this experience. I've never had one like it before. The food was really good and so was the service but something was off. I parked around back and some employees were coming out of the restaurant. They said something to me but I couldn't really hear it. I just just said "Oh hey what's up." Then I was asked if I was going into Soma. I said yes and headed up the stairs. I thought maybe it was an upscale place and that was the reason I was questioned. I had on polo shorts, a long sleeve T-shirt, and tennis shoes . Once inside I saw that wasn't the case. A couple in their mid 20's, one covered in tattoos wearing shorts, a polo shirt and vans had a toddler that was on the loose. I ordered an appetizer and a drink to start, then a 12 inch pizza. All of it was delicous. The music volume was perfect and no one was loud. Towards the end, after signing the check, my waiter was clearing the table and spilled water all over me. I was embarrassed and left. I'm hoping my phone still works after it dries out. At least the miniSD card is still good. read more

Mediocre and confusing. We were immediately confused by how dark it is inside. Feels like it's trying to be fancier (and more expensive!) then it deserves to be. The meal started with bread and hummus which was an interesting combination. Why not oil? Or pita? My husband got the fish tacos which had rice in them which was odd. I got the mushroom ravioli which was meh. There was a soups worth of sauce on the plate and clearly nothing had been cooked in the sauce as the flavors didn't meld. Soma has great Buffalo tenders. It may not sound like much, but if you like Buffalo tenders at all definitely try them . Also, if they have fish tacos on special definitely get those. They were the best fish tacos I've had in a long time. Pizza isn't bad either. They have a nice crust. Overall the service is very good. They also have a decent beer selection including Young's Double Chocolate Stout. That's not something you see everyday. read more

Eclectic restaurant with nice ambiance,attentive wait staff and very good food. We had the calamari app which had just the right kick plus the Caesar salad and arugula and spinach salad with pecans and goat cheese. Yum. Pizzas here come in individual and larger sizes and the variety and ingredients are wonderful. My wife had the sea food pasta which had more seafood than pasta. Been a frequent visitor here since we moved to Beverly in 2013. Always loved their martinis, and the hummus simply cannot be beat. I unfortunately write this review as this is my third time this year having the most atrocious customer service experience. I'm not sure when Soma started thinking a 4 star Yelp review makes it the upper echelon of restaurants, and could treat paying customers with such disregard. The gentlemen host purveys a condescending air of arrogance that I have never encountered, even at Michelin star restaurants. Just because we do not make reservations 3+ days out does not mean we do don't deserve to be treated like valuable customers. We will not revisit this establishment until either his demeanor changes, or he is held accountable for his self-righteous indignation. Extremely unfortunate since we love the food and drinks here, I just honestly can't justify occupying the same space as that disgruntled curmudgeon. Do yourself a favor and walk the two blocks down the street to the hip fish joint that is unassuming and more creative. Alternatively, there is a McDonald's a short three blocks away that will decidedly have better service ambassadors. read more

AN ABSOLUTELY MUST DO! DELICIOUS FOOD! One of the Best Restaurants in Boston isn't in Boston but in Beverly MA. If this restaurant was in Boston there would be a line out the door. It is located just 45 minutes north of Boston in Beverly. There is metered parking on the street & there are also adjacent parking lots on the various side streets as well. Inside there are wood tables & chairs with dark hardwood floors. There is also a bar. Our party of 4 went to SOMA for a Late Lunch. We all split Everything a Salad, 2 Swordfish Entrees & a Salmon Entree. They start you off with a basket of Bread & Hummus - Excellent. The Salad was Excellent as well. The Entrees come with 2 Sides of your choice. The Grilled Swordfish was DELICIOUS with mashed potatoes & Veggies. The other Swordfish dinner had the Baked Mac & Cheese side. The Salmon came with Mixed Veggies. We ordered 1 Dessert to split, so we all had a bite. & a bit of ice cream too. EVERYTHING WE ORDERED WAS DELICIOUS! They have a really good Chef here who knows your tastebuds. The chef has a complete Understanding of what Great food should taste like - the balance of textures & flavors. You don't need lots of sauces. Sometimes Simple is Simply Delicious! The Waiter was very easy going & accommodating & provided extra plates for Sharing. I Definitely will be Coming back here to try some of their other Entrees & Menu Selections. A GREAT Restaurant that is on the outskirts of Boston. We visited Soma recently. We ordered a couple of pizza's with drinks after hearing good things. Pizza was excellent. We just had pizza from the Regina's and in our opinion Soma's is better. Soma now serves the best pizza in Beverly in our opinion. The waitress was also excellent. Overall five stars. They also have parking out back and a rear entrance so pizza to go would be pretty easy. Boyfriend and I were semi in the area, we went to salem for the day, so i suggested coming here for dinner! just as amazing as i remembered. As i stated in my previous post the burger was one of the best i've ever had, and still is. we ordered the calamari which was delicious! i ordered the same burger as last time, the mushroom burger, and my boyfriend ordered a pizza, the largest one. Prob should've ordered a smaller size pizza considering he only had two slices of the pizza before he tapped out haha. it was a delicious dinner and i definitely can't wait to come back! read more

We ate dinner here before seeing a show at The Cabot. It was very busy and so there was a bit of a wait for our food, but it was worth it! My husband had the crab cake appetizer. It was served with a salad. He enjoyed it. I had the calamari. It was served on a salad and was perfectly done! We also had the complimentary hummus and bread. The bread was hot and delicious! The hummus was so good, too! We both had the same entree - blackened swordfish. It was delicious and seasoned well. Our server was friendly and engaging. My friends and I came into town for a couple of days. We were staying at a hotel across down the street and to be honest, we accidentally came upon this place when we found that our initial dinner spot was closed. What a wonderful stroke of luck. Since then we have been back again. Between our two visits, me and three other guests have tried 4 of the appetizers, and 8 of their dishes and we had not ONE complaint. Not only were the drinks and food on point when it comes to taste, quality, AND price..but the SERVICE was amazing. Night one we had Francesca and night two we had Erin (?Aaron?) and both were great. Now a days with staff shortages and other pandemic related ripples that have affected much of our society, it's rare to find a place that seems to run like a well oil machine.
