Tried Elia Taverna for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it definitely lived up to the hype. Some of the best Greek food I've had, even though we were only able to order from the brunch menu since it was a Saturday morning. The food was incredibly fresh. We ordered Horiatiki Salad, Bougatsa, Tsoureki French Toast, fresh pita and tzatziki, and everything was phenomenal. One thing that really stood out was the French toast. It was topped with fresh diced fruit, a pistachio sauce, Nutella chocolate drizzle, and real maple syrup. I've honestly never had French toast like that before. It was unbelievable. The service was great, and the whole experience was excellent. I'm already looking forward to coming back so I can try more of the regular menu. read more

Elia Taverna is a great dining experience in Marblehead. It's cute and cozy with friendly staff. We shared the saganaki, village salad, and Mediterranean grill. Everything was delicious. The salad was fresh. The grill platter was very good and my favorites were the lamb chops, and surprisingly for me, the loukaniko. There were plenty of leftovers. We all enjoyed our cocktails. The entire menu looks awesome and I cannot wait to return to Elia to try more options. read more

We decided to come here after finding out that the local Thai places were closed this week They are a family owned and operated Greek restaurant. We met the son (bartender) and the dad (who brought us to our table). We were a party of 5 and we made a reservation on Open Table. I am unsure whether or not we were marked here for our reservation but I do know we were there! We waited about 10 minutes more for our table so we decided to have a drink at the bar- wine, Deere's and a grey goose vodka with club soda! We brought our drinks to the table and we were very happy. They brought us toasted bread with olive tapenade to share. We then ordered fried calamari (Calamari, spicy avocado aioli, marinara sauce.) which was delicious. And then we ordered moussaka which came with potatoes and carrots, salmon (Feta cheese, Greek cous-cous, baby spinach, grape tomatoes, herbs, garlic and tzatziki called the Ella salmon), Kalamakia dish which is a choice of pork or chicken skewers, tomatoes, red onion, tzatziki, pita, lemon potatoes - here we opted for chicken; gyro carvings (Ground lamb and beef gyro, tzatziki). Yes, all luscious .We did want lamb chops but they were all out! It was very loud here with lots of activity which I actually liked! I would return and try their specials at happy hour on Wednesdays! If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I was up in the area photographing my friends son's college graduation. After graduation, they had reservations for dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Probably the best service at any restaurant that I have ever been too. The food was delicious. I tried things I don't normally care for and it was made in a way that I enjoyed it. Needless to say I left stuff! Appetizers, main course, and desserts all too notch. If you enjoy Greek food and you are in this area, it is a must stop! read more

We reserved Elia Taverna for a surprise party for my mom's 75th birthday in November and were so pleased with every step of the event! The owner Angelo was very helpful picking menu items and allowed us to bring decorations which complimented the beautiful restaurant. He was very attentive and seemed to be able to effortlessly pivot with any changes. Our guests are still remarking on how beautiful the dining room was, how helpful and friendly the staff was, and how delicious every dish was. The pastichio and moussaka are still making my mouth water. We love Greek food and love that we were able to stay local and eat 5 star quality food. No notes- it was a perfect evening! read more

How magical to journey back to Greece on a blustery March night by way of Elia's Taverna! My partner is from Greece and we spend many summer weeks gloriously feeding our soul and stomachs to great satisfaction. It's hard to find anywhere that rivals the real thing. Not anymore! Elia's delivers morsels of authenticity in every dish and choice of beverages. I found my FIX beer!! The perfect beer with hints of honey and florals and a lightness befitting for a hot sunny day or a night of nostalgia Now the food: We chose Gigantes Beans & Flaming Saganaki for appetizers. Every bit authentic. Perfectly enjoyed with the flame toasted bread soaked in olive oil and sprinkled with salt and oregano. Our main dish was of course: Mousakka. A large portion of layered eggplant, potato, beef, and béchamel sauce with sides of tender carrots and chunks of roasted potatoes in light tomato. Between the apps and the mousakka, washed down by my two Fix's and my partner's two Tsipouro's, it was plenty enough food. Like stuff ourselves plenty! Not wanting any of it to end, we ordered an AMAZING galactaborico to savor as a sweet breakfast in the morning. Turns out too that the owner and my partner share the same name: Athanasios (Nasos and Arthur for short). And we shared with him and his wife, our true love affair with Greece. Both looking very forward to our next trips. It's pricey but as I said, portions are plentiful and every taste worth its weight in gold. Visited last night for the first time, and was looking forward to it after reading reviews. I guess I'm an outlier. The place is pretty, and we were casually greeted for an early dinner. The service was perfunctory, and a bit defensive. While ordering wine we depended on our server for Greek recommendations, who turned out to be the owner. He seemed offended when we inquired about the wine list, though we weren't challenging him. The appetizer of zucchini and eggplant chips weren't chips at all, but a pile of greasy slices. The tzatziki was amazing. When we mentioned it, the comment wasn't taken graciously. We ordered the gyro and the lamb shank as mains. The lamb shank was delicious, served over a wonderful orzo, but $30 delicious? The gyro was inedible: the pita was scorched and unpliable, and the meat tasted like yesterday's. When asked why it wasn't touched, and we told why it wasn't enjoyed they argued that it wasn't supposed to be a traditional gyro. They were nice enough to remove it from the tab without asking. The service was odd, and the food came out so quickly that it didn't seem freshly cooked. The prices are inflated. I won't return. There are several good Mediterranean restaurants around. read more

First visit last night. Service was very good but it is way way TOO NOISY. Had to practically yell just to be heard across the table. Now for the food - my husband said his Branzino was very good. Three of us had lamb shank and while the shank itself was good, the orzo was mushy. Wine choices were very good and the Cab I had was delicious. Not sure I would go again - it isn't enjoyable with that noise level. read more

Just a fantastic eating experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Greek beer, the appetizers were plentiful and delicious, but the main dishes were definitely the standouts. I split the Mediterranean grill which says it's for 2 but could easily feed 4. The meats were perfectly cooked and the standout was the lamb chops: they were literally falling off the bone. The home made desserts were delicious and generous as well. They atmosphere feels like a small Greek tavern. Although small, it is cozy, warm and relaxing. It filled up quickly for dinner, so I would recommend reservations in advance. The whole experience was so pleasant, I can't wait to return. read more

Really terrific spot. We visited Greece in 2021 and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was everywhere. Elia's Taverna brings back those pleasant memories of sitting in the Plaka in Athens and enjoying great food with friends and family. Much like being in Greece the small things are the most pleasant and surprising. The toasted bread with olive tapenade they bring at the beginning of the meal is excellent as is the hummus and stuffed grape leaves. The real winner may be the lemon potatoes - so good. Last night I had the moussaka and it was excellent. Even the stewed vegetables that came as a side were awesome. It's a little pricey, but what places aren't these days. It's definitely worth the price to enjoy such authentic and delicious Greek food. read more

Went for the soft opening. Great atmosphere and service. Hot bread with olive tapenade was devoured by our group. We ordered a salad appetizer which was also amazing. My salmon dinner so fantastic I couldn't stop eating it as was the shrimp dish another in my party ordered. The chicken and gyro were a little dry...maybe precooked. Visited Elia Taverna for the first time this past weekend and couldn't have been more pleased. Excellent ambiance, service, food and drinks. Having Greek roots myself, it's been challenging finding good Greek food in the area. Elia was just the place I've been looking for. We started with a Greek beer and a specialty martini. To start the meal they serve some tasty toasted bread with Greek herbs with olive tapanade free of charge. Based on some great recommendations from their staff, we ordered the Saganaki (kefalograviera cheese flambéed at our table) as an appetizer. A large portion that was delicious. We split the main course Giouvetsi, slow braised lamb shank in a tomato sauce with orzo topped with feta. It was the best meal we've had in a very long time. It will be hard to order anything else on our next trip there. We also had a side order of lemon potatoes. So good! We asked to meet the chef to complement him on an amazing meal. He obliged and greeted us with a smile. Our server, Dimitris, was very attentive and cordial all evening long. Their menu is extensive with many entrees and appetizers to chose from. Although their prices are a bit on the high side, portions are very large and the quality of the food can't be beat. Two thumbs up. Check it out! read more

Ok so we had take out tonight.we haven't had Greek food this delicious in a very long time! I had the lamb chops with potatoes that was cooked to perfection and so tasty ! I was like a caveman chewing every last bit of meat off the bones. My husband had the lamb shank with orzo. The lamb was very tasty and fall off the bone soft and delicious. We split a mixed vegetables side that was fresh and mixed with a nice tomato sauce. Also very delicious. We devoured everything even though we were stuffed. Lastly we ordered 2 balaclava desserts. Well you get what u pay for! They were large, sweet and authentic homemade baklava. We only were able to eat one and are saving the other one for tomorrow. So delicious!!!! We will definitely be coming back to eat here as it was a wonderful, homemade ,authentic Greek meal! Recommend to my friends and family! read more

Had dinner at Elia Taverna in Marblehead Thursday evening and really enjoyed! They brought us out some olive tapenade and toasted bread. We started off with cocktails... my wife had a lemon drop martini and I enjoyed a Mangkas Manhattan. We shared the Spanikopita app which was delicious in taste and texture. For our main we shared the Mediterranean Mixed grill, wonderfully spiced dish of lollipop lamb chops, skewer of pork and another of chicken, loukaniko Greek sausage, gyro carvings, along with toasted pita bread and a tzatziki dip. Portions were generous, we brought home what we could not eat and enjoyed it for Friday's dinner. This is the real deal if you enjoy Greek food, everything was imported from Greece including the salt shakers on the table and the seltzer water. Service was terrific as well even though our original server had to leave for a family emergency and the rest of the staff picked up the slack. read more
