Was here on Halloween night with my son and two friends. The food, service, and atmosphere were incredible. Amazing! We got the large Mediterranean Grille, Octopus, and Hummus. All were fantastic! Even the Bread they bring out with that Eggplant appetizer was absolutely delicious. Loved it and can't recommend this 4.8 rated on yelp Greek Restaurant. They're getting a 5.0 from me!

We decided to come here after finding out that the local Thai places were closed this week They are a family owned and operated Greek restaurant. We met the son (bartender) and the dad (who brought us to our table). We were a party of 5 and we made a reservation on Open Table. I am unsure whether or not we were marked here for our reservation but I do know we were there! We waited about 10 minutes more for our table so we decided to have a drink at the bar- wine, Deere's and a grey goose vodka with club soda! We brought our drinks to the table and we were very happy. They brought us toasted bread with olive tapenade to share. We then ordered fried calamari (Calamari, spicy avocado aioli, marinara sauce.) which was delicious. And then we ordered moussaka which came with potatoes and carrots, salmon (Feta cheese, Greek cous-cous, baby spinach, grape tomatoes, herbs, garlic and tzatziki called the Ella salmon), Kalamakia dish which is a choice of pork or chicken skewers, tomatoes, red onion, tzatziki, pita, lemon potatoes - here we opted for chicken; gyro carvings (Ground lamb and beef gyro, tzatziki). Yes, all luscious .We did want lamb chops but they were all out! It was very loud here with lots of activity which I actually liked! I would return and try their specials at happy hour on Wednesdays! I love Good Greek food so I was very happy here!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I was up in the area photographing my friends son's college graduation. After graduation, they had reservations for dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Probably the best service at any restaurant that I have ever been too. The food was delicious. I tried things I don't normally care for and it was made in a way that I enjoyed it. Needless to say I left stuff! Appetizers, main course, and desserts all too notch. If you enjoy Greek food and you are in this area, it is a must stop!

Wow what a fantastic restaurant- everything was crazy delicious, well priced, service was great, and atmosphere was lovely. Great new addition to Marblehead and well be back soon!

Very friendly and helpful owner and waiter, Michael, who steered us to the Mediterranean Grille for 2...it gave us a sampling of several meats and was very enjoyable! We will be back for excellent Greek food!

We moved here from Chicago and we missed Greek Town. Well, Elia Taverna has made us feel like we are on Halsted again. The food is excellent and the service is amazing. Full bar. And it was really hopping last night, fun vibe. This is just what MHD needed. We will be going back.

We knew that they were very good at handling large groups, and we were treated once again to excellent and attentive service by our server, Gabi, and the hostess, Mariana. We arrived at 6:00 PM and were given the time to linger, closing the restaurant at about 9:15. The entire evening was leisurely and allowed for conversation between courses, including a nice break for coffee and dessert. We enjoyed and shared a variety of the small plates (which are not at all small, in reality): Mussels, Calamari, Falafel a la Petros, Greek Fries, Greek Salad (Horiatiki), Cauliflower, Mushrooms, Baked Feta, and Taramosalata. Our party chose beers and also shared the Decoy Cabernet and the La Crema Chardonnay. The main courses were all very pleasing, and managed to satisfy the vegetarians and those who need to avoid gluten. Among us, with some sharing, we had the lamb shank, the mushroom pappardelle, the Moroccan crusted tuna, the blackened salmon, the gnocchi & burrata, the baked eggplant, and the roasted chicken. The service was excellent. Gabi was careful to allow everyone to finish each course before removing any plates, which really encouraged sharing and made us feel like family guests. One of my pet peeves at restaurants is when servers begin to clear plates and cutlery while others are still eating. We had eaten so well that we shared just 3 desserts with our espressos and Greek coffees: Molten Chocolate Cake, Galactobouriko, and Ekmek. We lingered over desserts and had great conversation, since we had guests from England and western Massachusetts and we really needed time to chat. At no point did Gabi or Mariana make is feel that we needed to leave. It was a great evening!

April 17, 2026 I…read morewent with my parents tonight to the Adriatic Restaurant (Washington Street), Salem, MA. We've started having dinner out twice a month and this was the most recent experience. I had gone online to the NORTH SHORE DINNING PAGE on Facebook and asked people about their experiences with the restaurant in the last two days and here's what people said: "great, tender meatballs", "great eggplant parmigiana", "very good experience". .... And what we found out is that they were right. Those things were all true! Now.... As to what we ordered: I got the grilled octopus. It was the only partial miss on the menu. Arugula just doesn't make a very good sauce and it was a pretty bad base for what would otherwise might have been a great appetizer. My mother got the Caesar salad. It was good. It's a hard thing to screw up. My father ordered the meatballs. They were amazing and delicious - just like Facebook promised. The tzatziki sauce was good. Maybe not as good as mine, but good nonetheless. So dinner.... Mine was the Chicken Saltimboca. It was so good that I'd bathe in the sauce they make with it. I loved eating forkfuls of the chicken with bites of the mashed potatoes. That was really luxuriant. My mother had the Eggplant parmigiana and she wiped out the entire plate. She loved it. My father.... Beef tenderloin tips. Maybe cooked slightly too much, but delicious. He wiped out the plate. To drink.... I was out of the hospital and recovering from brain tumor surgery, so I had the hard cider (3.5% BV), my father had the Peroni (Italian) beer, and my mother had the Bud light. I tasted the Peroni and liked it very much. The hard cider had almost no sweetness to it. It was dry as a higher end brut champagne.... Which actually set off the meal really nicely. My tastes weren't clashing and that was good. Our waiter, Sean, was great. Ask for him! We left a $32 tip, so the bill came to $197.85

I had a delicious espresso martini and for apps I tried the arancini and picked off my sister's caesar salad. They were both alright, but the caesar could've used more dressing and I didn't love the flavor of the arancini - just a bit bland. For my entree I had the shrimp scampi. This also really lacked flavor, and I was yearning for more tomatoes. The service was great and our waitress Leanna was attentive and super sweet. They had clean bathrooms and ample parking out front and around the block. However, the food wasn't memorable, and I don't think I'll go out of my way to return.

Now The Gyro Spot has no frills to their business, but if you're popping in, you're stopping for food not the ambiance of being in Salem. The staff working behind the counter were really nice and even apologized for a little bit of a wait when receiving my food. I got the traditional gyro with beef and lamb and let me tell you that was the best gyro I've had. They don't use the pre-formed meat slices; they actually use slices of lamb meat which I thoroughly enjoyed. And the fries were crispy and seasoned. My only grip was I didn't ask for the sauce on the side, because I often find they put too much sauce and I'm not a huge fan. However, that was a mistake of my own and the gyro was still amazing. If you're in the Salem area and looking for a quick grab and go bite to eat, then pop into The Gyro Spot.
