Amazing hole in the wall! The little store is deserving of its name with its comfy and cozy ambiance. This is an absolute gem hidden in Marblehead with excellent food. Flavors pop without over saturation on any spices and portions are perfect. The chicken in various dishes are tender and moist. The mushroom dishes are cooked el dente and you have a choice of home made pasta! Yum! Another plus for BYOB. Must try is the Chicken Parmesan! 5/5! read more

Amazing little gem of a neighborhood place in the heart of historic Marblehead. Seats about 22 people total inside, so get your reservation locked down and bring your favorite bottle of wine to complement the meal. Some of the occasional negative reviews of this place are shameful and totally unworthy from my experience. The gnocchi in "the Little Store Gnocchi" dish was melt in your mouth perfection. Best I ever had in the USA (I have been to Italy 40+ times). The mushrooms, truffle oil and Alfredo-like sauce (it's better than classic Alfredo ... smoother, less sticky, less fatty, more garlicky - and scrumptious... it was so tasty, I could drink the remnants like a divine soup -- and frankly, I did! The Veal Marsala was tender and seasoned perfectly, coated in tasty mushrooms and a dark Marsala sauce that was done with just the right balance of sweet and savory. My wife had the Seafood Di Mare that was piled high in a skillet full of calamari, shrimp, mussels and scallops on top of homemade fettuccine. The white wine sauce this was bathing in was a little tame for the magnitude of the dish - good, just not spectacular. All in all, we loved our food so much that we ordered a Haddock Francese "to go" so we can have it the following night and expand our Little Store palate. The ambiance is cute and quaint, old school pictures on the wall in unmatched frames that you would find at a garage sale. I felt like I was in a neighborhood ristorante in Tuscany. We saw only 1 employee all night and she was a hustler (in a great way). She did everything ... never stopped buzzing around to take care of a full restaurant-- not to mention a thriving takeout business (folks ... please tip this gal even when ordering takeout - she is busting her tail for you!). I love the BYOB approach because I always have lots of wine at the house - I don't need to spend an additional $100 on a $40 bottle of wine when I go out. One last comment - this is an adorable romantic place - unless the guests who visit make it otherwise. I was there with my wife, as were several other husbands enjoying a relatively quiet night out with their significant others. One younger group of 5 friends took the center table, and as the alcohol consumption rose, the volume crescendoed to the point of shouting just to be heard. A neighboring gentleman intervened and asked one particular girl to please stop shouting. He was right to do this - and to the girl's credit, she apologized and the rest of the evening was so pleasant. I say this just to remind people - restaurants are only as pleasant and romantic as the guests who honor them. By all means - celebrate life and friendship ... but be wary of your surroundings when your neighbors are just an arm's length away. Food was AMAZING. Donna was the best server ever. We live this neighborhood gem. However, please get better air conditioning!!!! It was so hot inside we couldn't finish our meals. Our server was sweating because she was working so hard. A "heat pump " unit could not cost much for such a small area. Please update so we can come back in the summer. read more

Ordered potato gnocchi and was looking forward to my dinner. NEVER AGAIN!! It was awful. The gnocchi were mush and no more than 15 in a bolognese sauce that I paid extra. The bolognese sauce was Salty Salty with more carrots than meat. The few gnocchi were swimming in the salty sauce. With so many videos out there you can educate yourself on how to make the gnocchi and how to serve them. If you are going to make Italian food, please make sure you have an understanding of how to make it if not stick to making hamburgers! The eggplant rotini were good! This is my third attempt at making this place work and unfortunately the last.. Save your money! read more

My wife and I discovered this hidden gem three years ago and made it our regular date night outing at least once a month. We order the same thing every time--crab cakes and Di Mare in the chef's special sauce. It's a small place, so reservations are a must. One helpful reminder: bring your own beverage. Food is definitely on the top of my Marblehead list! Everything we had was delicious beyond. Cucumber salad. Light and divine. Beautiful presentation. Crab cakes best we ever had! Seafood so fresh and tasty. Chicken cutlets and homemade pasta to dream about. Desserts were worth the calories! Cheesecake rivals New York!! Lemon cake was sublime. I was looking forward to my spaghetti and meatballs, but was very disappointed. The red sauce was orange with a thickener, not a tomato to be seen. How hard is it to add a can of tomatoes to spaghetti sauce? the meatballs were large but mostly bread crumbs. Could be half the size so you can taste the meat. My husbands bolognese had similar problems. Even the oil served with the bread was too full of garlic, and not fresh, but the pre ground up that comes out of jar. Too bad this cute little restaurant can't make tomato sauce. read more

Incredible! The service is always great, never be in a rush it's a small restaurant made to order food. They have incredible carbonara, hand tossed thin crust pizza, so delicious! The penne vodka is always incredible! Make sure to ask which dishes come with " House made pastsas" there homemade pasta is COOKED SO PEFRECTLY EL DENTE' it's an absolute sensation to your palate! There is a few tables for outdoor dining, and indoor dining can be, cozy, romantic and fun! The staff is super! Friendly, courteous, fun, and hard working! Found this restaurant on yelp, when we first arrived it looked like a small take out restaurant. We were skeptical about staying but we decided to try it out. It was the best decision. The food was amazing. Everything was fresh made to order. The pasta noodles are homemade. The service was also great. Server was fast and shared the daily specials with us. They had a grilled romaine salad that was to die for. The pastas are flavorful the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The shrimp scampi pizza was my dad's favorite. Definitely recommend this place. We will try to make it back one more time before flying back home. read more

When we travel we use Yelp and always find a Gem of a restaurant and this was our Gem this trip!!! The four of us each loved our dishes and the waitress Donna was the icing on the top of a perfect meal. I wish I had gotten photos of the salads because they are truly perfection, we ordered the Farmers Citrus Salad and the Cucumber Salad and shared them. I had the Piccata, and it was delicious, it was more of a brothy dish than creamy that I am used to. My husband got his usual eggplant parmesan and he thought it was the best he had ever had. My sister in law got the shrimp alfredo and we all loved this dish. But the star was my daughters Mushroom Gnocchi!!! So flippin' amazing. We loved this spot and highly recommend. read more

I have taken out from the little store about once a month for the last year. A couple of these times it was some really delicious food. Especially have appreciated some of the seafood dishes like lobster ravioli and risotto. A couple of times we ordered here the food was way over seasoned to a level that it was nearly inedible. The other 10 or so visits have been average to above average. At the end of the day, the Little Store is better than Antique Table for takeout Italian and if they can get a handle on consistency it is worth of 4-5 star review. read more

Let me start by saying I loved the last incarnation of the little store. The sandwiches were fantastic, menu was original and prices were fair. I went in a few nights ago to check out what has changed since the new owners took over. What I found was another overpriced Italian restaurant in Marblehead. The menu is unoriginal, they don't turn tables over fast enough so wait times are long and they have no parking. I got the Bolognese. It was bland and unseasoned and the pasta was not fresh like they claimed all of their pastas were. I can't confirm, but it was like they just put a bunch of ground beef in a mediocre red sauce and put it on a plate. While I'm happy to give new restaurants in Marblehead a shot, unless they make some big changes to the quality and prices, I won't be back. read more

Fabulous find. I had heard how good it was for some time, and finally had an opportunity to try it Wednesday night. From beginning to end, it was a fabulous dining experience. Donna quickly rearranged our table to accommodate an extra person, explained the various specials, answered all our questions, and was simply superb. The ambiance was fantastic; it all felt so cozy. I remember when it was a deli/small grocery store; never imagined it could be turned into something so delightful. Our food came quickly and was delicious. A friend had the thin-crust pizza (my favorite) and it looked wonderful. Others had mussels, chicken marsala, and swordfish. Me? I had the chicken francese, and it was among the best I've ever had--and looked beautiful on the plate. Prices are reasonable, portions are large, and the restaurant seemed to enjoy a thriving takeout business. No problem bringing our own wine. Wish I could post a photo as well. The Little store was transformed into an Italian restaurant a couple years ago, and I've gone to it twice since even though I wish I could go every night. When I recently came here I got the Margarita pizza and the raviolis, both of which were phenomenal. The tomato sauce that the pasta came with was great, it had notes of fresh garlic, along with fresh tomatoes. The raviolis themselves were perfectly al-dente and the cheese had a great texture and flavor. I enjoyed the leftovers the next day and I'm already craving it again! The waitress went out of her way to help us order the right thing and we were highly satisfied. Finally, I liked the ambience and it is a fun little gem in Marblehead, there are nice aromas coming from the kitchen due to their fresh baked bread and homemade pasta being made. Additionally, I recommend that you get there around five if you can when you're going out on a weekend night because it gets pretty packed. All in all, I rate The Little Store a 9.4/10 and it is a 2 minute walk from my house which adds to the convenience. read more

Obsessed with this place! Avocado toast is to die for as well as their chicken finger sub and "Header" sub. And the prices are the best in town. The food served here is outstanding. I highly recommend. It's the same food you find at any Antique Table. The service however is amongst the worst I've experienced. No long story or specifics just try it for yourself and see. You won't be disappointed with your meal but you will be hugely disappointed with the attitude you receive. On Saturday, I went to go try the Little Store with my friends and it was absolutely incredible. The cashier recommended the Nick-Filet and the meatball sub. They both sounded so good that my friend and I decided to get both and split them. Both sandwiches were delicious. The chef-owner Nick was nice enough to come out and ask us how our food was. He explained everything was freshly made in house. This capped off a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back! I think next time I am going to get an Italian Sub, the people next to me had one and they said it was the best sub that they ever had. read more
