I really wanted to patronize Tesoro Cucina on a regular basis. The quality of the meatballs and of the pizza is always the litmus test of an Italian joint, in my opinion, and Tesoro Cucina nailed both. Their pizza is the equal of Regina's, although I would have to make sure that mine wouldn't come out well-done if I ordered it again. I say "if" because I'm not sure if I'll be doing business there again. Last night, my wife and I decided to get meatball subs from Tesoro's. She encouraged me to hustle because they close at 7:30 and she told me she'd phone in the order before I got there. When I arrived at approximately 7:07, there was a guy locking the door from the outside. It was dark and I had just got out of my car, so I couldn't tell if it was the owner or not, but before I could approach, he said "We're closed." My reply was "Oh. didn't my wife call in for a couple of sandwiches?," to which he replied "No." Maybe it would have been expecting too much from him to include a "Sorry" in our brief exchange, but he was brusque and dismissive which really stuck in my craw because the Tesoro take out menu states that the business stays open until 7:30. The last time I was there, I was tactful enough to not complain about my pizza being scorched and I was also tactful for not calling the guy out for advertising their closing time at 7:30 and then then turning away a prospective customer in a less-than-polite manner. We've been searching for another good place other than the Riverview to get a pizza and maybe that search will have to continue now. However, all was not lost after my being turned away by Tesoro's because I stopped at Mikey's Famous Roast Beef on the way home and brought home a meatball sub that was shockingly delicious and I will henceforth be doing my part to make that meatball sandwich as "famous" as their roast beef. read more

Between Salem, Peabody, Danvers, and Beverly, there are dozens and dozens pizza places in the area. This doesn't even include the rest of the North Shore. One night, while wanting to try a local pizza place but not have to drive too far and not have to fight the difficult parking in downtown Salem, I discovered Tesoro Cucina in Beverly on Bridge Street. What immediately stood out when viewing their menu is their eclectic selection of specialty pizzas. Any pizza joint can have a meat lovers, Greek, and veggie, but Tesoro Cucina comes up with some interesting combinations. Case and point: The "Dill"icious Duo - with their signature "ranchfredo" sauce, whole milk mozzarella, super sour pickles, and North Country bacon. The alfredo and ranch white sauce was so savory, the pickles were indeed super sour, and there was an absurd amount of bacon. Most pizzas that include bacon throw on a few pieces of basic bacon bits but this was real, crispy, big pieces of bacon. I have had plenty of pickle pizzas and this was hands-down the best I've had by far. I've also tried the Old School Gabagool (mozzarella, crushed San Marzano tomatoes, hot imported capicola, cherry pepper relish and sweet onions) and The Big Malaka (fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, feta, garlic, olives, spinach, peppers, onions, oregano, olive oil drizzle), both of which were also great. The restaurant sits in its own little strip mall, making parking extremely easy, and the staff inside have always been welcoming and friendly. Every time I think to try a new pizza place in the North Shore area, I ultimately go back to Tesoro Cucina because you cannot go wrong. read more

I wish I could give fractions on these reviews because I think it would me more of a 4.5. We read several reviews from different sites on how fantastic this place is and I would have to agree. I was a little hesitant to try it at first because of the recent turnover of owners but the reviews swayed the families mind. First of all, we saw claims that their subs were as long as a person's forearm. So, we ordered an eggplant parm sub to see for ourselves and lo and behold, it was. They were not skimpy on filling it up and my daughter said it was delicious. My other daughter had eggplant pasta. It was a large portion that she was able to eat lunch several time during the week. She loved it when it was originally made and said that it was just as good after reheating. Finally, we ordered the Taste of Tuscany. It was a great choice. The chicken was well prepared and cut into long pieces vs. chucks which was different and satisfying. The peppers and onions were well cooked and the fresh basil pesto was very good. The crust was thin and well cooked as well. It was different and extremely satisfying. It's been a while since I had a pizza this different and delicious. The volume of food is definitely worth the price. I'm sure we will frequent this place again. read more

Great pizza in Beverly--wish it was closer to home. Old-school pizza shop vibe. The slice was perfectly thin with a great crunch, awesome sauce and cheese combo, and a super chill atmosphere. The owner was really cool and genuinely nice--clearly cares about the food and the customers. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm definitely grabbing another slice! read more

This place was probably the best restaurant I've ordered out from, the pizza is godly, reminds me of Ancient Rome and it's reign for 1500 years. The fries perfectly seasoned reminds me of Belgium's long and complicated history of a nation, making French fries. Service was good and the ambience was good, nice Smokey smell read more

The food at Tesora is excellent, but two times when I've called to place an order, the person ( a man, I believe the owner) was VERY abrupt, and downright rude as I tried to give him my order. May need to brush up on phone etiquette. read more

I heard they made a good pizza. I was not disappointed. Ordered take out, and was greeted with a smile and a nice crispy thin crust pizza. I got a pepperoni pie, and it was fantastic. I'll be going back again soon. read more

We had an amazing Thanksgiving Eve dinner while food prepping. Firecracker wings, Caesar salad, roni pizza and another pizza with hot honey and chicken... everything was perfect! Service with a smile! Oh and there's a slush puppy machine! read more

After work, I headed into Beverly and stopped at Tesoro Cucina for a pizza for carryout. The owner was running the front counter and took my pizza order, which would be ready in 15 minutes. I waited in my car and returned 15 minutes later as the pizza was hot & ready fresh out of the oven and boxed. I ordered the 16" Sausage Peppers & Onions Pizza ($16 plus tax) and enjoyed some pizza slices back at my vehicle. The thin crust was very firm on the bottom with a crisp and the edges were not thick with the toppings of red sauce, melted cheese, sliced Italian sausage, fresh green peppers & onions filling up most of the pizza almost to the edge (half inch). This was a very good Italian style pizza to enjoy! I was thinking about trying out their subs and pasta dinners on my next visit and getting Nonna's Meatballs too! read more

After being impressed with the first visit to Tesoro Cucina the occasion arose to try it again. You really can't properly evaluate any eatery on the basis of one visit. This place has a good sized menu so there is a lot to work with. We selected the Chicken Pahm Pizza, ordered ahead for takeout. About thirty minutes after the call, it was picked up, ready on time and hot. The price was moderate and you get a lot for that price. The pie was cut into eight slices and cut well. No need for a chain saw to get the edges to separate. The first surprise was the chicken, evenly distributed and outstanding for moisture and tenderness. The sauce was thick and tangy. The other ingredients were fresh and evenly distributed. The crust was not too thin or too thick even at the edges. There was no evidence of oil, frequently over done elsewhere. All in all a very enjoyable meal. Probably, the next time, the meat balls. read more

Fantastic food. Great service. Neighborhood charm. I have eaten here countless times and have never been disappointed. A must try.

I have bought food from this small delightful place several times and I must say. The food is always fresh and delicious. The Nonna's Meatballs are to die for, handmade and out of this world. They are amazing. The Chicken Parm sub is superb, tender and juicy. The Really Italian sub is an old school Italian delicatessen flashback and a quality item. The is always friendly and respectful. Unfortunately, there is a ton of roadwork currently being done but this place is a hidden gem of epic food. It's worth the trip if you're in Bevelry or the North Shore. Also before I wrap up this review, there is plenty of parking. Sadly my food never lasts long enough for me to take a picture of it because I just can't wait to taste it. Enjoy. read more

I called them up and got "Tony's Tacos" so I hung up thinking I got the wrong place. They called back and said they do that joke to out of state numbers thinking it was a spam call. I laughed, I just moved here so I get it. My wife and I got pizza, salad, and the meatballs and pasta. 5 stars. Incredibly good food, and the pizza was exceedingly good for a place that wasn't that busy. The food was ready in only about 12 minutes, and when we went in to pick it up, the place was spotless, and they had a great selection of chips and drinks. Hopefully some day they serve beer. read more

I have been dying to try this restaurant and finally did. I am so glad that I did. I have a new weely stop! Today I tried the meatballs and chicken parm subs. Quality, fresh, scratch made classic cooking by the owner. Super friendly. Great portions and value! I am going to have to try the pizza next week!!! Can't wait! read more

Got an Italian, sub was quality and hit the spot. The regulars at the store were funny and offered recommendations. Staff was friendly and looked like they enjoyed being there. Only stopped in by accident looking for a bathroom while working but I'd go again no doubt. read more

Service is very friendly and the quality of the meats is good. I had the "Really Italian" and the cold cuts were great. The problem was the pedestrian sub roll that it came on. It wasn't a particularly good sub roll to begin with, but with the "really Italian" name I was hoping for more. A great Scala bread type of roll, the knotted style, is what this sandwich deserves. They offer a Portuguese style roll as an option, but that doesn't work either. I will give it another shot in the future, perhaps they will find a new bread vendor because that would be the difference between 3 star and 5 star for me. read more

My wife and I love this place. We go one or more times a week. The meatballs are HUGE! The sandwiches are great and the pizza is well priced. read more

My husband and I finally got the chance to order takeout from Tesoro and are so happy we did! I ordered the chicken parm sub and it was VERY good. Very fresh and huge! I couldn't finish it and got a size small. I'm very critical of red sauce/gravy and this one was delicious. My husband ordered a small Italian sub and a side of Buffalo tenders and both were really good. Again, the small was huge. The Buffalo tenders are definitely home made and they gave us a ton. We would order all of these items again! The owner was super welcoming and our food was fast and hot. We are really happy Tesoro came to Ryal Side! :) read more

Great food, large portions, cheap prices, nice owner. You get a large cold cut sub anywhere else it's half the size and $5 more

The pizza was massive and tasted perfect. The owner was a great guy. Took care of us! Highly recommend.

Solid local pizza joint. Worth the detour around the bridgework. I'm happy to have this place right in my neighborhood.

Absolutely love this little place. The fresh tomatoes instead of the usual sauce and crisp thin crust makes this a tasty lighter choice. Third time we had this combo pizza and it has been consistently remarkably fresh and great tasting. read more
