We've been working our way through all the pizza parlors in Gloucester for the past couple years and gotta say I really liked the pies here (got a meatball onion). We'll be back plus they're open on Monday! read more

Such a great place to eat. The service was so fast and efficient and the owner is so awesome and friendly!!! could go recommend this more!

I'd give Leonardo's a solid 4. I thoroughly enjoyed the pies I ordered, and I would definitely go back! The slices were crispy and had the perfect amount of sauce and cheese! read more

My lamb Gyro and Greek salad were very good. My wife enjoyed her eggplant Parm sub. Service was excellent. They were quick and since I tested positive for covid, they carried my dinner out to my car. read more

Friendly service despite busy take out orders. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

it has a great atmosphere! it's a little, cozy place with high quality food. the pizza is a must try, and so are the chicken fingers. The wait is not too long, and everything went so well for me and my family! read more

I really dug this place. It is tough, in this area, to find good pizza. Or to find pizza at all. So much is geared toward seafood. Thankfully we found Leonardo's. I really enjoyed myself here. First off, their menu is huge. It is not just pizza. You can get sandwiches, tenders, burgers, Franks, anything really. I love the feel of the inside which is all brick. Prices are good. It is a comfortable casual atmosphere and the pizza was quite good. They do sell slices. Leonardo's is a little off the beaten path but I enjoyed it. They offer both good food and a really cool atmosphere. read more

Best Chicken (or not) Broccoli Alfredo in town. 1 serving quite huge easily a meal for 2.

Not a fair rating, only stopped in for a couple slices. Slices were fresh, sauce was good, dough was soft. Wasn't bad but wasn't great either. read more

I never leave poor reviews but after the experience and call to the restaurant...don't waste your money or time. Worst chicken parmigiana it was a frozen patty. Asked for spaghetti was given over cooked dry angel hair. The salad had old slimy cucumbers and carrots. Ordered the fried dough as stated on the menu with sugar came with cinnamon a wet awful sauce that made it a wet soggy dough. It was awful food, execution and attitude when I called. This place was consistent and fairly good...it had gone beyond down hill. It far from authentic or quality Italian food. I ended up ordering from causeway... read more

A small hole the wall vibe, but the product was phenomenal. Cheese pizza was one of the best I've had. The steak & cheese could give any from Philly a run for their money. I will definitely go here again if I'm in the area. read more

If I ever come here again, it will only be for the pizza. This review is only for the other food. To start, we ordered a bunch of food that came to almost $100 and one of the dinner plates was missing when we got home. Portions are not the best. Chicken tenders looked and tasted like frozen store bought ones and they were not crispy or juicy. Same with the fries, probably frozen. I've seen better chicken strips from Tyson. The BLT was just average. Too much mayo, and the bread was soggy. The best thing about our order was the mozzarella sticks which were somewhat decent. If you come here, I suggest to only try the pizza. read more

I ordered a mushroom and pepperoni pizza and a side of zucchini sticks. While the zucchini sticks were very good, the pizza was terrible. The pizza tasted like cardboard and the mushrooms were from a jar or can, not even fresh. The cashier guy told me that they have the best pizza in town and raved about how they had outstanding reviews. When I went in to order, I saw the cook open the pizza oven and check the cooking time of a pizza with his bare hand by picking it up to see if it was cooked. I wonder if that's a health code violation. The place kind of looked dirty to me, but since I was ordering for takeout I didn't really care. Based on the pizza tasting like junk, which I threw away by the way, I'll never go back to this place again. It was absolutely terrible. Domino's Pizza would have been a way better option in my opinion. read more

Ordered 3 pizzas for delivery. Promised 45 minutes. Nearly 2 hours later pizzas showed up cold and crappy. Called and let them know. No apology. Couldn't have cared less. Never again. read more

It's funny, I see I reviewed this place 10 years ago and also gave it 3 stars. I hadn't been in a long time since I moved away from Gloucester but my mother wasn't feeling well and really wanted spaghetti and meatballs (from a local place was her request) so I decided to stop in and get that and a pizza for me and my dining partner to share. I liked the menu. I don't remember if they had all those interesting pizzas years ago as I mainly went for subs but it was a good selection. Prices were also good, not too expensive for a large. I called in and ordered the "special pizza" from the menu which probably should have a more distinct name (more on that later) and spaghetti and meatballs. The woman on the phone thought I wanted spaghetti put on a pizza and was confused since they don't offer that. Everything got sorted out, got the standard pick up in 20 minutes. Arrived in time and nothing was ready. Several other people were waiting. Watched Frozen for about ten minutes. Smelled yummy food and dreamed of my pizza. Got my items and got to her house about 10 minutes away only to discover instead of the "special" pizza which should have had a variety of meat, mushrooms and peppers I had a regular cheese pizza. Boo. I called back and she said she thought I meant the special of the day which was a cheese pizza. Might want to think about the name of a pizza on your menu that shares the name of the special of the day to avoid confusion. We wanted the pizza we paid for so they said bring your pizza back (weird) and we'll make a new one. So off my partner went while my mother was happy with her spaghetti. Pizza took quite awhile to be made. And sad to say it wasn't that good. Not very special. Very greasy, like falling off because of grease. The toppings were sparse. It had little flavor. We thought in retrospect we should have just kept the first pizza. Thumbs up from my mother on the spaghetti and meatballs (great taste, huge portion) but very disappointing and lackluster pizza and customer service experience. read more

The pizza is very well made no complaints, the best pizza in Gloucester in my opinion, they don't have that super sweet sugary sauce alot of places use read more

Went today for lunch. Ordered a large pepperoni. It had good flavor and it was larger inside than I thought. But I thought it was too souppy and the crust was soggy in the middle. I would go back and try a sub. read more

Yuck STAY AWAY Calling board of health in the morning This food is obviously not prepared in sanitary conditions with proper food handling I bet this kitchen is crawling with filth ..is the "food" not being stored properly or has it all expired?! Ugh Omg BEWARE Unless you want to hug your toilet all night read more

I was craving something and didn't want to cook. The wife wanted steak tips and I wanted pasta. Well this was the only place open in Gloucester at the time (covid 19) I regret all of it. The "medium" tips were well done. The fries were disgusting. Soggy, no salt. Now I got the carbonara Linguine... I asked for a little extra sauce. I regret my decision. I don't know if it was the onions had gone bad in addition to the cream being curdled but when it was made but it was a sour heavily white onion taste that was like licking a gym locker. It was so bad. All of it. I will NEVER order from there again. read more

The pizza is pretty good. Lighting could have a warmer glow. Overall, good pizza even though the crust was average.

I used to think Leonardo's fell in the mediocre category but the last two times I've ordered, I've been pleasantly surprised. Pizza was really good and arrived pretty quickly. read more

This place is a joke. Placed an order at 8:45pm on a Saturday night through Uber eats for pick up. They said it would take 5-15 mins putting the puck up close to 9pm, the time they close. Moments after placing the order, Uber Eats notified me that Leonardo's canceled my order. We will never go there again. read more

This place is pretty indicative of what you'll find in Gloucester. Crappy food and crappy service. I've lived in alot of towns, with tons of roast beef/sub shops, and never once has my experience been as bad as it is here. I've also run a few kitchens/restaurants, and if any of the places in worked for were like this, I would have quit. The only thing this place does consistently is get your order wrong. With all the mistakes I've seen from this place, it amazes me that they're still open. read more

BEST ANTIPASTO SALAD THIS SIDE OF THE MASON-DIXON LINE, AND THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MASON-DIXON LINE. why do i like random italian meats on my salad? i don't know but i friggin like it, and leonardo's is the only place in my heart of hearts that wins my love. i don't know what they do any different than anyone else. i don't know if the meat is a better quality, cause i don't like these meats other than on top of a salad (to the point where i cringe a little at the thought of a mortadella sandwich). i think it's just that it's made with a loving hand. leonardo's is great for everything else, too. i've heard they have amazing pasta dishes. i've gotten a few different subs and i've never been disappointed. when you pick up your order you're treated like a friend of the family. i miss the crap out of leonardo's, for sure. i'm on a quest for a good antipasto salad in salem and so far, no dice. i know gloucester isn't far away, but it's too far when you're just picking up subs/salads. if i'm spending any amount of time in gloucester and my family is not feeding me, i'll absolutely be picking me up some antipasto love. read more

very solid food, the employees are respectful and welcoming ! pizza was cooked exactly how i asked it to be

You can tell that Leonardo's is onto a good thing when their seated dinner crowd are mostly local Sicilians eating pasta dishes. Gloucester Sicilians eating pasta dishes at a restaurant is a rare thing to witness and telling. (This probably means either their stove at home blew-up or their Grandma died.) Anyway, it's really a pizza/sub shop by look and feel - but they put a little extra into it and have some exceptional menu items. I usually go for lunch and order one of two items. The Chicken Kebab Salad w/ Feta is huge and amazing simply for Leonardo's trademark juicy marinated chicken which is grilled perfectly and goes great upon the bed of fresh crisp veggies. The other lunch fave is the Meatball Sub which is put into overdrive from the homemade tomato sauce -made daily says Lenny, the proud owner. I'm sure the sauce (fresh, tangy, and a touch of sweetness) is part of the appeal for the evening pasta crowd too. Oh, the meatballs are juicy and tasty and ask for extra provolone for true sensory overload. Yeah, you can order a decent pizza here, but save the pizza order for Maria's or Sebastian's. You want to be ordering one of Leonardo's salads, hot subs, or pasta dishes. And if you do it enough, Lenny will remember your name as he does with hundreds of his regulars. read more

Now under new ownership. If you are going to keep the same name, keep the quality and quantity. Suggest going back to the original menu if they plan on succeeding. read more

Ordered takeout and it was abysmal. we ordered a sausage and onion pizza, got plain cheese. Ordered plain pasta for my kids, it came covered in pesto. Definitrly not recommended and slow as molasses in winter. read more

Leonardo's is a small family-owned pizzeria/sub/Italian food shop on downtown Gloucester's Main St so it's metered street parking. Friendly, very casual, & BYOB. Their prices are reasonable. Their slices of pizza are pretty good, but only available till 1PM. The sauce on their pizza is sweet & tangy. The cheese is a little oily, but plentiful. And the crust is thick, chewy, & dusted w/semolina. They have a wide variety of subs & pasta dishes. Their pasta Alfredo was somewhat gummy. I've heard they prepare things that are not even on the menu! Eat-in, take-out, & delivery. read more

Love their pizza & other foods. Prob order from them or dine in 1x a week. They also made special party pizzas for my daughters 1st birthday party. It was 3 HUGE pizzas divided into about 8 pizza boxes for under $55! My new "go to" for take out in town read more

I went in last night and placed my order. I stood there and watched the cook Handle raw chicken and not wash his hands then he proceed to make my salad. After that he then knocked the container that was holding the raw chicken on to the ground and scooped up pieces and placed it into the trash (still did not wash his hands). When I said something to the Lady behind the counter she looked at me and did not say anything to him so I made a comment to her she turned to the cook and said I guess you need to wash your hands. At that time my party of six walked out the door and I will never return to Leonardo's again. That is just disgusting read more

Zero if I could. I watched them take food I had returned and serve it to another customer. They picked the buffalo chicken out with bare fingers, toss it on the flattop, then serve. All.In.Front.Of.Me read more

I eat a LOT of Pizza. Being a local Gloucester girl, most of it comes off the island. Leonardos hasn't been on my radar since Lenny left but I gave it a whirl last weekend. Large cheese pizza and small meat lovers pizza. Service was good and efficient on the phone. Delivery was quick and the price was right. Oh ya.... the pizza was damn good. Crust, toppings, sauce ect. I really liked it. read more

We got 2 large cheese pizzas for Easter and it was excellent!!! Would go there again, delicious.

I love this place! My husband and I go here for a cheap night dinner, we pick up a bottle of wine next door and bring it right in , it's BYOB at Leonardos, some may not be aware of that. Would give them 5 stars except for one thing, Would love to see them add checkered tablecloths and maybe even a candle on the tables in the weekends, for us cheap date nighters read more

Pizza was ok, nothing special. Garlic bread was burnt. Love the thinner crust vs the traditional pizza places out there.

Good solid food, no real complaints on this one other than they are closed on Sundays. This is a standard sub shop during the day with a line out the door at lunch cranks out the best chicken kabob sub I've ever had. It seems like everybody else feels that way too because I'm pretty sure they have one grill devoted to just chicken during lunch hours. At night they have dinner service with pretty much the same menu as lunch but the wait on you. Everything here is homemade and you can tell when you bite into the lasagna or meatballs that the people running the place love what they do. You can also BYOB and I've found that Lenny (owner) has no problem taking any unwanted beers off your hands when you leave. About the owners, they are some of the nicest people you will every meet. They are from Gloucester and their kids go to Gloucester schools. Everybody that works for them is very friendly and you never feel like you are in a rush. read more
