My husband and I had delicious lobster rolls from this place for dinner last night. It was Monday, so each roll was $13.99 and let me tell you, that is some deal!!! It was filled with pure meat-no fillers like celery. It came with a side of potato chips and 3 slices of sweet pickle. So Yummy! The people behind the counter too taking orders are so friendly. I'm going with a 4 here because Surfside Subs is a very reliable spot in between Good Harbor and Long Beach, they absolutely get the job done. The service was sufficient and I was certainly swooned by this excellent deal - $5 for a cheeseburger! I was gonna dive into my (insufficient) bank account and get a steak bomb for $12.99, but upon seeing the 5 dollar deal that includes a burger and chips, I pushed the idea of getting steak aside like a pride of lions to a zebra. The burger wasn't the best one I've ever had, but it was surely good, I enjoyed how the bun was toasted. This made my early summer's day feel complete! read more

We tried the Tuesday night Lobster Roll special. Two good sized rolls on toasted hotdog buns, classic. Well worth the like $16 for both. Lots of lobster, not much filler, just like I like it. Hard to rate. I've loved this place the last few years, but lately, my lobster rolls have had pieces of shell. The last time took out part of one of my fillings. It's too bad because they're a good size and made the way I like them--no filler besides light mayo, and a buttered, toasted roll. We had a large group of us and figure we should just order some pizza to hold us over for the evening. This place was recommended by a local as having 'killa pizza'. We got a few different types with various toppings on them. The pizzas were fairly large and covered well in toppings. The pizza was good, but nothing to write home about. I will say that it did get cold very quickly. If you wanted it warm you needed to heat it up in the microwave for a few seconds to get the cheese melty again. read more

Food was good, I went for half off lobster Tuesdays and will not be back. First off the ambiance is dangerously hot. I understand today is a very hot day but the establishment should have powerful enough AC especially for the staff! Service was good, everyone was friendly, not timely though. What i dont get is this is a weekly thing so how are they not better prepared? I see the lobster rolls are prepackaged, if thats all I ordered how come not just hand one to me? It's a roadside sandwich, pizza, ice cream stand with picnic tables. We loved it. We went because of the recommendation from a local business owner. "Where can we get a good lobster roll without spending $40 for a sandwich and where we won't need to push through a crowd." It was delicious. Grilled buttered roll topped with minimally dressed lobster. A satisfying bite. Crispy chips and couple of slices of sweet pickles were a perfect accompaniment. Spent less than $40 for two sandwiches and drinks. On Tuesdays it would have been less. We had ice cream for dessert. Portions were very generous. read more

We were driving by and sandwiches sounded good. I told hubby to ask if they did hot buttered lobster rolls and if not to get a sub. He was going to get a steak bomb after he asked what was on it. When he came out, he already had a look of regret on his face. He said there was a big language barrier and he thought the guy understood what he was asking about the lobster roll but it was clear when he handed him a heavily mayo'd roll that he didn't. When he couldn't explain what was on the steak bomb, he said to just give him a cheese steak. I dumped my lobster and had the world's most expensive hot buttered hot dog bun and my husband said whatever they gave him was not a cheese steak. Not sure why nobody has really talked about HOW AMAZING THE LOBSTER ROLLS ARE HERE! They use a high quality bun that is toasted well, it is served with cold fresh lobster that isn't dressed with all of that lobster salad non-sense certain places have that takes away from the taste of lobster. One of my go to spots for lobster rolls in the area now! Service is quick and very no frills. There is an ice cream store next door (Long Beach dairy) which has dole whip! On Tuesdays the lobster rolls are only $13.95! Unfortunately I've never been able to come on a Tuesday. But definitely a great value if you're able to try it on a Tuesday. Highly recommend anyone to check out this hidden gem if you are looking for a good lobster roll, and trust me, I've tried ALOT of lobster rolls. read more

I found four bugs in my salad there could have been more. The salads are obviously not made fresh on order like their website says. Note; expensive but enormous. Brought home 3 remaining slices. Flip-flop atmosphere. Fountain drinks. Ice cream out front. Only reason not 5 stars is Otto Boston still rules roost. Got a pizza last night and it just doesn't taste the same anymore. They use less cheese and the sauce tastes different. I got over the service (which is horrendous btw) AND I got over the fact that they lazily close for half a year. But, now the pizza isn't that great anymore. Wtf guys! Don't you know that changing the recipe is a recipe for disaster? Honestly, it pains me to post a negative review but I'm so ticked off I can't count on Surfside for a good slice anymore. Not sure what happened or changed from this summer to last but after two attempts the pizza is just not even close to the same enjoyable pizza we had at this place. I get over the rude service for good pizza. But wow this isn't the same pizza at all! No cheese! Barely any sauce. All Very bland. We ordered the margarita and it's not a margarita. Very disappointed in the service I was given tonight. Called and ordered a pizza,was given attitude by young girl on phone, and was told 30 minutes, went in a few minutes early so was already expecting to wait a little bit. They were busy at time so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. 20 minutes had gone by So i asked the girl how much longer, she proceeded to scoff at me telling me she didn't know right this second. She then turn around and my pizza had been sitting there for 10 minutes. She gave no apology whatsoever. I have worked at a pizza shop before and understand that when it gets busy, it gets frustrating but that is not an excuse to treat paying customers in that manner. Re: Pizza-good luck getting what you order. We ordered 3 larges. 1 basic cheese, 1 cheese and pepperoni, the third (we have a lactose intolerant person in our party) we asked for just sauce, grated Parmesan, meatballs, green pepper and pepperoni. We got sauce, Parmesan, ONIONS and meatballs-NO PEPPERONI & NO GREEN PEPPER. We didn't even order the onions. WTH? We are 2 strikes on the pizza front on Cape Ann. Do not order pizza here! We do that one night of our vaycay as a cost savings and also to bring to the picturesque Headlands for dinner with a view. Been a tradition of ours for several years, until now going forward! Food is decent but service was insulting. I ordered two pizzas (keep in mind these are $25 pizzas) and 1 salad on a Saturday night. The online order said it was going to be 20-40 mins for pickup. We arrived at 45 min mark and they said it would be another 30 minutes. Sent my husband back 30 mins later since we had a carful of kids waiting, and they didn't include the $12 salad. I tried calling repeatedly and got busy signal and got hung up on several times. I called again the next day - same thing, busy signal. Finally got through to them days later and they said there was nothing they could do and I should've called the day it happened. Infuriating. Will never give them business again.
