Had dinner here the other night. I loved the Moroccan salmon with succotash and saffron rice, it was delicious! I would eat this dinner all the time if I could. My husband got the sultans meshoui, which consists of chicken, lamb and beef over rice. The meat was overcooked, mainly the chicken. But the flavor was good and had the meat not been overcooked it would have been a home run! My teenage son got the chicken over rice and his complaint was the chicken was so dry from being overcooked. We also got the mushrooms and garlic appetizer and everyone enjoyed these!! The service was good and we sat outside on the patio which is near the bewitched statue.

We were visiting Salem and wanted to eat something different than the usual pizza and burgers and decided to come here. The staff was extremely nice. We decided to eat outdoors cause the weather was nice. We ordered the traditional tea. I ordered lamb Tagine and my husband ordered chicken Tagine. The tea was supposed to be peppermint however it did not taste like peppermint and it still had the leaves inside. My dish came out right away. The food was a bit cold very flavorful and the lamb was very fatty. My husband's dish took forever to come out. I was already done eating by the time his plate came out. The waitress came out and apologized and said that the chicken was marinating. We thought he was going to receive chicken on the bone and he ended up getting chicken breast which to me should've been done very quickly however we both ended up eating by ourselves then the icing on the cake was when the bill came out! The waitress wanted to apologize by giving our drinks for free, which we appreciated, however with that said we paid $90 for a meal that we did not enjoy! I remember visiting Morocco and with $90 could've feed an entire village! Extremely overpriced dish.

We got the mosaic platter and it was absolutely delicious! All the flavors were great and unique to each dish. Nice portion, too. Would definitely come again and try other dishes, or the same thing again because it was so good!

This was the first time in ages we had been to Salem and during fall season. Lovely spot in downtown area and cozy interiors and ambience . We went on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was short staffed, but they did their best to get to all tables as fast as the way could. We started with the falafel and eggplant zaalouk. Falafel was a bit oily for me but tasty and the eggplant tapas was delicious. I wish they served it with pita bread in the side vs two tiny toasted ones. We are not huge eaters so always end up sharing the entree between me and my husband so we ordered the Tagine Marrakech with couscous. It was plenty for us and delicious. Just wished it was a bit more hot(temp wise) as it was a chilly night. Finished it with a dessert of Moroccan puréed dates with ice cream. It was more than enough for two and just the right amount of sweet for us ! Loved it! Really nice spot in Salem and I wish we had something like this closer to home .

Delicious food and drinks. The couscous royal with lamb shank was amazing, as was the strawberry ice cream. Highly recommend!

Great restaurant in the heart of Salem. It was not busy during a weeknight and the waiter was very helpful. There is nice art work on the walls and traditional music playing. I ordered the mint tea which was not on the menu to share with my table. It came out in a pretty silver pot and had enough for at least 4-5 cups of tea. I ordered the lamb shank tagine which was delicious. Very tender and flavorful. The couscous under it was also very tasty. The portions are very generous and I surely could have split with another person.

Joined a few friends here on Saturday night. We opted to start with the Mosaik platter, a delightful sampling of all their apps. From the hummus to the beets and grape leaves, everything was seasoned and prepared to perfection. At the suggestion of our server, we also got an order of meatballs; these were tender and seasoned just right. Knowing we were saving room for dessert, we opted for the Lamb shank with couscous across the table. The lamb was so tender and juicy, the couscous so huge and, dare I say, fluffy! There were roasted carrots and, much to my delight, parsnips as well. For dessert, we chose the pistachio mouse cake and the Morrocan crepes. Beautifully plated! The pistachio really didn't have much mousse, but the cake was very good. The crepes were fried and drizzled with honey and nuts; so fricking yummy! Service was impeccable as well! Can't wait to come back!

Lovey decor, friendly staff & absolutely delicious Moroccan food. The wrap was perfectly toasted will grilled chunks of tender, flavorful chicken breast , hummus, olives & feta. The Mediterranean pizza, which my hubby who does not love fish did modify to remove anchovies) also did not disappoint with its olive and onion goodness. The appetizer that we got was the hummus's , which was absolutely delicious and the cucumbers not to gush or some of the freshest in the flavorful Persian cucumbers I've ever had.

    Octopus appetizer

Blue Fez was just simply superb! We were here for an early dinner just after Blue Fez opened. The staff was very welcoming and the server helpful and attentive. The octopus appetizer was about the best I ever tasted and the accompanying humus and veggies were flavorful and added a good contrast. The other two main dishes we had were different, but great in their own way. Both featured a lamb shank that was tender and flavorful with couscous and a mix of vegetables. One was delicately flavored with saffron and the other was complex; both savory and sweet-ish at the same time with cumin, cardamom and coriander. Cost was modest for such fine fare.

The menu doesn't look particularly amazing, standard-ish pub fare (steak tips, fish&chips, mac&cheese) but they do them EXTREMELY well. The tips were tender and flavorful, the sneaky star of the entree was the salad with feta though. I'm pretty sure the feta was marinated in whatever outstanding salad dressing they use. The havarti grilled cheese with avocado, garlic aioli and fried egg...C'mon. You have to spend the extra $2 for the bacon jam, you will not regret it. I'm sure we've all seen truffle fries right? Some bullshit frozen garbage either drowned in cheap truffle oil, or "dusted" with truffle salt. Well, they don't do that crap here, however they do garlic fries. Hand cut, with whole cloves of roasted garlic all over. Not one or two cloves, like several heads worth of glorious, slow-roasted garlic. I managed to scrounge a couple spoonfuls of the kids mac&cheese from my son, almost lost a finger in the attempt and I found out why. They put just as much effort into the kids food as the adults. We split the Caesar salad to start and it was delicious. We expected a longer wait for the food but it came very quickly. For my entree, I got the Jean Louis sandwich. After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting with no service, we were about to leave when a server finally came to our table. Since they were obviously busy and weren't keeping up with the crowd that night, we tried to order two drinks each so they could save a little of their time and we could relax without worrying about if a server was going to take our order again before the end of the week. The server very sharply said that he was NOT going to give us two drinks at a time, CERTAINLY not with drinks of this high alcohol content. We ordered one drink each, cashed out and bounced. The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Now I've been to Bambolina's before and you can either sit outside (even this time of year) and take in the passersby and their numerous themed costumes or you can sit inside and enjoy the lowered mood lighting with more wood and tan accent colors. It feels sleepy in there and for me that equates to comfort. On this particular occasion I decided to get a Rosso Pizza from the Bambolina menu and my fiance got the Pork Belly Ramen from the flip side of the menu, that second restaurant I mentioned: Kokeshi. The food overall here is very natural and fresh tasting- none of that processed jargon you get at chains. You might think having two totally different culturally distinct menus under the same roof means one gas to be better than the other or one takes a hit in quality but no, not at all. I can pleasantly say having tried from both the Bambolina and Kokeshi menus that options on each are solid. You won't be disappointed if you go here, though it is more of a surprise if you're used to having processed pizza and ramen frequently. This place tastes very fresh and we are often excited to go whenever we hit Salem.
