Mixed experience but overall decent. Service was the highlight our waitress was super honest about what was actually good instead of trying to upsell, which I really appreciated. Food was okay and prices were mostly fair, but the duck was a letdown. Around $20 for what felt like a small lunch portion (just a couple pieces), so not worth it. We're relatively new to Salem and this was on our list as there are no other Thai places - though there may be place that serve Thai food. Everything is just tired - the food, the ambiance. Looks like a mom and pop shop now being run by their adult children. Although it's a decent sized space we rarely see it even 1/4 full - and that really says a lot. They do advertise a full bar, but the cocktails all appear to be made with some sort of mix (i.e., margarita mix, sour mix, etc). I skipped the liquor and chose beer (Sing-Ha to match the food). The food was not great. It wasn't exactly Trader Joes, but it certainly didn't level up to restaurant quality. Service was not great either. Our server seemed pretty disinterested. She did not even see if we wanted another round. The final straw was the bill, which was just way too much for the quality of food and service; a terrible value. We will not return. read more

My husband and I decided to give this place a try since it was located away from all of the tourist locations. The service was good, but the food not so much. Our sodas were served from room temperature bottles which made the ice melt pretty quickly. I got the fried rice and it was not seasoned very well. The restaurant was very overpriced. For just my husband and I, the bill was $70.00. We didn't even order any appetizers. If you're looking for good Thai food, don't go here. read more

The ambiance was fine inside. The food itself I wish I could say was better. I had been here before and when I went this year it was incredibly disappointing. The food was at best a 4/10. The crab ragoon was the blandest I have ever tasted, good crunch though, the wings were a 3/10 when I asked about if they had an Thai chili or sauced wings she straight up told me Thai places in general don't have that (which I know for a fact is untrue and so easily debunked idk why she would even say that to me). The pancake scallion was basically fried bread as it had nothing inside. I also orders shrimp and broccoli that came with white rice, I will say that was the only thing seasoned well. The dumplings were seasoned well on the inside but had so much dough it was not enjoyable. They had about 5 options for entrees. I ended up doing about 4 apps for a meal and the people with me got a pad Ty and an 1 order of dumplings and the total came out to 160 with tip included already. If it were up to me I would have paid 20$ for base ingredients tbh the food was horrible and ridiculously overpriced. I don't know why they have a limited menu now as well. I often come here whenever I'm in Salem. I enjoy Thai dishes with decent prices. However as of 2023 the menu prices spiked. A Pad Thai dish is like over $17.00 plus taxes, auto gratitude tip which is $4.00 extra, and you're own tip. You'd be spending more on a single dish. Seriously what the heck! read more

Went to Salem to sightsee and bump upon this restaurant. I ordered the Thai iced, chicken with that I sauce and tom yum as starters. And for main course, Triple sizzling platter, Beef panang and Thai Basil chicken. Thai Iced tea- bland, it was not sweet and a little watered down for my family's taste. Tom Yum- Only comes in single serve bowl, unlike other Thai restaurants that I've come to love. It was okay. Not impressed. Chicken wings with Thai Chíli sauce was basically fried wings (could use a little more salt) with bottled egg roll sauce. Triple sizzling platter- was thin slices of chicken, beef and pork mixed with vegetables and a gravy that needed more flavor. Kinda bland. The panang beef was descent, a little too creamy and needs a tad of salt and flavor. The Thai Basil Chicken was a different story. This is a must have! It was packed with flavor that it made up for the rest of the dishes. The saltiness, spice and its natural sweetness (not sugar like) combination was so good that you can't stop eating it. Could use a bit more basil but it's great the way it is. The service is a tad slow but granted there were only 2 people working the tables and the place has descent amount of customers. read more

Wish there was a way to give 4 1/2 stars, as Thai Place is really really good, but not great. Luckily, there are several asian food options on the North Shore and I frequent many of them and for some reason I don't order from here enough, and after last night's meal, I am reminded that I should! After viewing a new exhibition at PEM across the street, walked over and placed a take-out order of two fish main dishes (salmon curry and a white fish), two appetizers and an order of Pad Thai. This place only advertises themselves with pictures of drinks but doesn't let you order more than one drink. I ordered one plate of pad Thai to share with my friends while we had drinks and they told us we didn't order enough food to get drinks. We also ordered crab Rangoons and they kept telling us we never ordered them even though we did. The waitress also rolled her eyes at us when we tried to order a second round of drinks. if they don't want to serve alcohol I don't understand why all their ads are picture of drinks. its also insanely expensive even though the atmosphere isn't nice. read more

This is a solid Thai restaurant. I had the vegetable pad thai with tofu. The noodles were great, the tofu firm and crispy, the veggies fresh. My kid has the chicken satay and a side of steamed rice, and really enjoyed it. The folks who run the place are kind and efficient. This is, by far, the best choice for lunch or dinner in the Witch City Mall. For less than half the cost of a pizza down the hall (Essex Pizza), or a cheeseburger and beer around the corner (Village Tavern) you can treat yourself to authentic Thai cuisine. Thai place in Salem MA, has by far the best Thai food I've had in the New England area to date. Their tom yum soup and the jungle curry entrée were excellent par none. Owned and operated by an elderly Thai couple, they delighted and fascinated us with stories of their ingress into the United States perfected with a sprinkle of their love for customer service and in serving excellent, authentic Thai meals. My waitress was extremely nice and polite but when we're given a check a man (im guessing who was the owner or a cook or something) ASKED us for a tip. He did not serve us. Don't be deceived by appearances! The mall Thai Places is located inside is pretty run down and kind of grody, but this is the best Thai food I've had, and some of the best food I've had period. Yesterday, I brought my family there for my birthday dinner. The staff was delightful - when they found out it was my birthday, they surprised me with a lovely little bag of chocolates from a local sweet shop! And the chocolates were delicious, but not as delicious as my tom kha. My whole family raved all through dinner about how amazing the food was and how happy we all were that we decided to brave Salem on a lovely, sunny Beltane afternoon.
