Mixed experience but overall decent. Service was the highlight our waitress was super honest about what was actually good instead of trying to upsell, which I really appreciated. Food was okay and prices were mostly fair, but the duck was a letdown. Around $20 for what felt like a small lunch portion (just a couple pieces), so not worth it. Seating wasn't great the cushions felt awkward and there was kind of a dusty/old smell in the restaurant. Has potential. read more

Such a great restaurant!! We are from Tampa FL, and have a normal Thai place that might have moved to second place lol. Services is spectacular we were taken care of way beyond bare minimum. We ordered the pad Thai which was the best pad Thai I have ever had. The fried pork egg rolls were so so good and the fresh rolls were great! 10/10 wouldn't go anywhere else in Salem. read more

Thai Place Restaurant - Dining room - Thai Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

We're relatively new to Salem and this was on our list as there are no other Thai places - though there may be place that serve Thai food. Everything is just tired - the food, the ambiance. Looks like a mom and pop shop now being run by their adult children. Although it's a decent sized space we rarely see it even 1/4 full - and that really says a lot. They do advertise a full bar, but the cocktails all appear to be made with some sort of mix (i.e., margarita mix, sour mix, etc). I skipped the liquor and chose beer (Sing-Ha to match the food). The food was not great. It wasn't exactly Trader Joes, but it certainly didn't level up to restaurant quality. Service was not great either. Our server seemed pretty disinterested. She did not even see if we wanted another round. The final straw was the bill, which was just way too much for the quality of food and service; a terrible value. We will not return. read more

Food is amazing as always However the service is horrible! The server pays very little attention to the customers even when there are 2 occupied tables, she looks right through you and doesn't listen. read more

This place was great years ago, I was greatly and sadly disappointed this year on my visit there.. the food had good flavors but the dishes where minimal, they claim to be Thai but there's nothing Thai about it! Not even the chicken wings.. so sad this place has gone down the drain... three stars the most read more

The food was terrible, really low quality. Prices were super high for such bad food--everything just tasted off. Even the drinks came with old frozen fruit. read more

Thai Place Restaurant - Shrimp Dumpling Steamed, Crab Rangoon* - Thai Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

Rude service, overpriced especially during Halloween and the food is not that great. Don't go here! Not worth it!

My husband and I decided to give this place a try since it was located away from all of the tourist locations. The service was good, but the food not so much. Our sodas were served from room temperature bottles which made the ice melt pretty quickly. I got the fried rice and it was not seasoned very well. The restaurant was very overpriced. For just my husband and I, the bill was $70.00. We didn't even order any appetizers. If you're looking for good Thai food, don't go here. read more

According to the store and the menu they open at 11am. Not true. Online it says they open at 11:30am. I was not looking online I was there in person. Only one waitress who acts like she would rather be anywhere else than serving people. Never smiled, never said hi or welcome or thank you. No verbal communication. read more

A little pricey for what it is, but I continue to go back. I find the noodle dishes to be flavorful & well sauces & my partner enjoys the chicken fever. The drinks are reasonably priced (not as strong as I'd like tho) to entice you to go in person although the service was a little odd. I do enjoy the older woman who is always so friendly! With little to no Thai options in Salem, I'm happy it is here. read more

I often come here whenever I'm in Salem. I enjoy Thai dishes with decent prices. However as of 2023 the menu prices spiked. A Pad Thai dish is like over $17.00 plus taxes, auto gratitude tip which is $4.00 extra, and you're own tip. You'd be spending more on a single dish. Seriously what the heck! read more

The ambiance was fine inside. The food itself I wish I could say was better. I had been here before and when I went this year it was incredibly disappointing. The food was at best a 4/10. The crab ragoon was the blandest I have ever tasted, good crunch though, the wings were a 3/10 when I asked about if they had an Thai chili or sauced wings she straight up told me Thai places in general don't have that (which I know for a fact is untrue and so easily debunked idk why she would even say that to me). The pancake scallion was basically fried bread as it had nothing inside. I also orders shrimp and broccoli that came with white rice, I will say that was the only thing seasoned well. The dumplings were seasoned well on the inside but had so much dough it was not enjoyable. They had about 5 options for entrees. I ended up doing about 4 apps for a meal and the people with me got a pad Ty and an 1 order of dumplings and the total came out to 160 with tip included already. If it were up to me I would have paid 20$ for base ingredients tbh the food was horrible and ridiculously overpriced. I don't know why they have a limited menu now as well. If you're in Salem I suggest literally anywhere else! read more

Went to Salem to sightsee and bump upon this restaurant. I ordered the Thai iced, chicken with that I sauce and tom yum as starters. And for main course, Triple sizzling platter, Beef panang and Thai Basil chicken. Thai Iced tea- bland, it was not sweet and a little watered down for my family's taste. Tom Yum- Only comes in single serve bowl, unlike other Thai restaurants that I've come to love. It was okay. Not impressed. Chicken wings with Thai Chíli sauce was basically fried wings (could use a little more salt) with bottled egg roll sauce. Triple sizzling platter- was thin slices of chicken, beef and pork mixed with vegetables and a gravy that needed more flavor. Kinda bland. The panang beef was descent, a little too creamy and needs a tad of salt and flavor. The Thai Basil Chicken was a different story. This is a must have! It was packed with flavor that it made up for the rest of the dishes. The saltiness, spice and its natural sweetness (not sugar like) combination was so good that you can't stop eating it. Could use a bit more basil but it's great the way it is. The service is a tad slow but granted there were only 2 people working the tables and the place has descent amount of customers. read more

This Thai restaurant is such a hidden gem: Located inside of an old-fashioned Mall in Salem, Massachusetts. Authentic, Family-Owned Thai Food. For my first Thai food experience this place was perfect! Pros: - piping hot food that was ready in minutes - large menu with many different options - $6 drinks!! (great selection as well) - friendly and hard working staff - great quality and quantity when it comes to the food Something that really stood out for us was when our lovely server brought us our check she also brought two small bags of candies for us. It was the most thoughtful and well put together "thank you" I've ever seen from a restaurant and really shows how much they value their customers. read more

Needed food after the museum... we entered behind a party of 13. The hostess seated us and took our order before the large party to avoid a long wait for us which I thought was kind of her (I was thinking the same.. let's get our order in fast!) Took a little bit for us to get water and our drinks. Thai iced tea was delicious and hit the spot. Food was decent and service was good overall. read more

The food tasted good. The chicken in the pad Thai was dry. Plenty of chicken in the curry.

Wish there was a way to give 4 1/2 stars, as Thai Place is really really good, but not great. Luckily, there are several asian food options on the North Shore and I frequent many of them and for some reason I don't order from here enough, and after last night's meal, I am reminded that I should! After viewing a new exhibition at PEM across the street, walked over and placed a take-out order of two fish main dishes (salmon curry and a white fish), two appetizers and an order of Pad Thai. All the ingredients were fresh and none of the sauces overpowered the original intent. The Pad Thai was absolutely fantastic! There's no way not to find something to satisfy your wants. read more

This place only advertises themselves with pictures of drinks but doesn't let you order more than one drink. I ordered one plate of pad Thai to share with my friends while we had drinks and they told us we didn't order enough food to get drinks. We also ordered crab Rangoons and they kept telling us we never ordered them even though we did. The waitress also rolled her eyes at us when we tried to order a second round of drinks. if they don't want to serve alcohol I don't understand why all their ads are picture of drinks. its also insanely expensive even though the atmosphere isn't nice. read more

Well the name says it all. Your average thai restaurant. I've had better pad see ew but the crab rangoon was especially good here. More crab than cheese. And we both liked the thai iced tea. Fancy interior and not crowded at all! The ladies working were also very nice read more

This is a solid Thai restaurant. I had the vegetable pad thai with tofu. The noodles were great, the tofu firm and crispy, the veggies fresh. So, I'm mad I forgot to check in or take pics!!! But this place is awesome. I've been here a lot of times and it's always great!! My grandmother comes here ALL THE TIME with a bunch of friends, also and we really love this Thai restaurant. The staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. Excellent service and the food is ALWAYS awesome!! I love it here! This restaurant has been here for years and years. We've had more than one kind of curry, more than one kind of pad Thai, & drunken noodles as entrees.. all excellent! And we've had thai rolls, scallion pancakes, Golden bags, and sautéed chicken on skewers as apps.. all wonderful! They're Mai Thai mixed drink is also great!! I recommend this place and I go here usually every time I'm in salem! Very good all around read more

Thai place in Salem MA, has by far the best Thai food I've had in the New England area to date. Their tom yum soup and the jungle curry entrée were excellent par none. Owned and operated by an elderly Thai couple, they delighted and fascinated us with stories of their ingress into the United States perfected with a sprinkle of their love for customer service and in serving excellent, authentic Thai meals. Upon enquiry, the owner revealed the secret to their delectable cuisine: natively sourced ingredients - all items on their menu contain ingredients imported straight from Thailand, a fact unmistakeable from the first bite. Visit the Thai place for a great meal, and an everlasting memory of a superior dining experience. read more

If I could leave negative stars, I would. Truly terrible service. They were unwilling to attempt to resolve any issues what so ever.

Don't expect Thai seasoning. Or quality ingredients. The food is adequate at best. You can eat it but Thai food doesn't come to mind. The only reason it didn't get below two stars, the decor is nice and the server is polite. Lychee martini is very good. read more

This is, by far, the best choice for lunch or dinner in the Witch City Mall. For less than half the cost of a pizza down the hall (Essex Pizza), or a cheeseburger and beer around the corner (Village Tavern) you can treat yourself to authentic Thai cuisine. I got food here a few years ago...the food was good but the service was not. My waitress was extremely nice and polite but when we're given a check a man (im guessing who was the owner or a cook or something) ASKED us for a tip. He did not serve us. When we said no he stormed off angrily. We hadn't seen this man the entire time until that very instance. Weird. read more

Family owned restaurant. Service is always good and the prices are typical of Thai food - around $11 - $16.00. For the we ordered steamed dumplings dipped in sweet soy sauce. I've also had their Yum Neua Beef Salad before. Hot spicy beef in chili paste, lemon grass with tomatoes and scallions. Served with a lemon dressing. Tasty! I love their Crispy Pad Thai. I load it with peanut sauce! Crunchy with a slightly sweet flavor. Panang Curry Chicken was delicious. Just the right amount.of spices and hotness. We also ordered Yellow Curry with Chicken. Nice pieces of white meat in a mildly spicy yellow sauce with pineapples. For some reason they only serve beer and wine during the winter months. Full liquor license starts every April. read more

Don't be deceived by appearances! The mall Thai Places is located inside is pretty run down and kind of grody, but this is the best Thai food I've had, and some of the best food I've had period. Yesterday, I brought my family there for my birthday dinner. The staff was delightful - when they found out it was my birthday, they surprised me with a lovely little bag of chocolates from a local sweet shop! And the chocolates were delicious, but not as delicious as my tom kha. My whole family raved all through dinner about how amazing the food was and how happy we all were that we decided to brave Salem on a lovely, sunny Beltane afternoon.
