Hadn't been here in a few years so decided to check back in recently. My wife and I dined in. Food was as tasty as I remembered, but some issues remained that would prevent me from visiting more regularly. My main gripe was with the green curry (my favorite Thai food): I asked for it "extra spicy". The waitress then said, "okay, so 3 spicy, medium?" And I said, "no, extra spicy. As many spicy as you can make it, I like it very hot". Well, the dish arrived and it was pretty mild. The curry also didn't have a lot to it. Green curry normally has a lot of vegetables, but there were maybe 1 or 2 tiny pieces of bell pepper, a few peas and green beans, but most of the vegetable was the bambo shoots. I'd like to see more "green" in my green curry. The amount of chicken was very weak too, especially for a $17 dish. So overall, the portion was small, at least for a full grown man like me who wasn't about to shell out for a bunch of appetizers on a weeknight. They normally include white rice with the curry dishes, but I remembered that it's always a pretty weak portion, especially considering this is what you need to make the curry dish more substantial in the absence of other ingredients as mentioned above. Instead of ordering an extra white rice, I decided this time to order a side of the sticky rice. Big mistake as it was so tough that I couldn't even get my fork in it. I've had sticky rice before but never had to cut it with a knife. I had planned to integrate it with my green curry but it was obviously a poor choice for that. Not worth the $4, despite the fancy little box it was presented in. My wife's mango fried rice was overall more worthwhile as it seemed more substantial and had a nice flavor. She saved about half of it, which was a pretty good amount for leftover. However, they came back out with a tiny box that made us suspect that they didn't really package all of it. Lastly, we didn't order anything with uncooked greens given the cyclosporiasis outbreak that's currently all over the news. Somehow, I ended up with a piece of lettuce on the table (perhaps stuck to the bottom of one of the dishes - not sure if that's a dishwashing issue or if there's just pieces of lettuce sitting around the kitchen). So that was a bit off-putting. Still, overall this is better than some of the Thai places I've been to. If you go, try some of the iced tea flavors like mango or ginger jasmine - very sweet but in a good way. read more

So this is a gem in Danvers. Authentic Thai options and Americanized palate adaptations are plentiful and all delicious. The word that comes to mind when I think of the meal was genuinely savory across many flavor profiles. None of the dishes came out particularly spicy hot. The Larb Gai was tangy with the lime coming through and served with sticky rice. Absolutely delicious. The Penang curry was rich and full of both protein and veggies. We got it with white rice and the curry was so tasty with the peanut flavor present. The Tom Yum soup was among the best we have ever had, with the right amount of rich flavors, saltiness, and slightest bit of hot pepper. The mushrooms absorb the flavor and are so good! We started with Paradise Beef (it comes with 4 strips, but we ate two before I took the picture). It's like a cross between beef jerky and satay, with a flavor that boasts tangy and a hint of sweetness, emboldened by the sweet and sour sauce. This was something we ordered just because the description was interesting and it was a wonderful way to start the meal! The atmosphere is classic with a modern flair and extremely clean. The service was pleasant, prompt, friendly, and natural. We found street parking, which was convenient. Overall, this is hidden gem. We will gladly return! read more

This place has some of the best pad Thai and beef satay I have ever had. The Massaman curry is absolutely divine! Every single time my fiancé and I go in there they are packed! Just moved to Danvers from Boston and decided to try out Sawasdee take out and it did not disappoint. We got the yellow curry chicken, pad Thai, crab rangoons, and spring rolls. This is definitely a Thai gem in this area! The place is easy to pass by as it's not flashy but boy is the food here delicious! We came here for lunch and the first thing I noticed was how good the value was for the noodle dishes! I paid $7.25 for a decent size portion of pad thai and it was absolutely delicious! Very fresh and not overly sweet. My partner got the drunken noodle which has a very good spicy kick so if you're fan of spicy dishes definitely give it a try! Recently stopped as Sawasdee Danvers on a quiet Sunday night. We found parking on the street (free) and went inside to a 1/4 filled restaurant around 7:30PM. The small bar on the right was empty and there were tables of diners spread across the rest of the establishment. We were offered a couple of seats, and chose a cosy table for two. I suspect that they may get a lot of regulars here because we were asked if we knew what we wanted to order as the waitress sat us and handed us the menus. We obviously needed to review the menu as asked for a few minutes. Less than 2 minutes later she returned only for us to ask for more time. Many of the Thai dishes were spicy indicated via 1, 2 or 3 chili peppers on the menu. I opted for the Drunken Chicken which was a 2 chili option while my guest opted for a more mild, traditional pad thai with chicken. I enjoyed a sparking Perrier water (individual bottles) while she tried the ginger iced tea. Both entrees came out fast (less than 5 minutes) and were consumed with traditional American utensils (no chop sticks offered). The Drunken Chicken did have a kick, but I would rate it a 1 chili pepper vs. the advertised 2. The traditional pad thai was warm and filling. Both plates provide ample amounts for a doggy bag (actually a cute Asian take out box) for lunch the following day. The ginger tea was a little heavy on the ginger, but otherwise cool and refreshing. Prices were reasonable and the food average, hence the 3 stars. I have certainly had better elsewhere, but this is a nice, clean, safe choice for the Danvers area. read more
