I love everything about Sawasdee in Danvers. They have all the standards you'd expect to find on a Thai restaurant menu plus a lot more. The descriptions of dishes are enough to give you an idea if your palette would be open to something new. Last night four of us ordered the scallion pancake and crab Rangoon. The pancake is already sliced into crispy triangles and is oh so good! Our entrees included crispy pad Thai, beef Ramayana, pad see ew and larb guy (?). The larb was quite spicy but tasty. It was all good! Service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is very nice-/casual and quiet and more upscale than other Thai restaurants I've been to in the area. Best Tom Yum soup on earth. This place has the perfect balance of sweet, sour, tangy, with a bit of spice in their Tom Yum -- have never tasted anything even close. Love at first Tom Yum slurp, for sure. The rest of the menu we tried was great: + Thai Chicken Wings - Slight spice, perfectly crispy. Divine. + Pad See Ew w/ Beef - Excellent, ate every drop. + Yellow Curry w/ Pork - Loved the curry over rice. Had lunch here today with a friend and it was super cute! Loved sitting by the window people watching on the street. Very nice staff and the inside of the place had nice decor. Plenty of options on their menu so everyone has something to choose from. The pad thai was one of the best I've ever had. Just the right amount of flavor but not bland or too sweet like some I've had. Very fresh and delicious. For Thai Food in the North Shore, you have to try Sawasdee Danvers. This restaurant is just amazing. The inside interior is nice and clean. It is a bit of a sophisticated ambiance but still casually open to any client. The reason why Sawasdee Danvers is so good is the food. I think often times, Thai restaurants due to their great abundance and variety, my friends and I will choose Thai restaurants based on their interior ambiance as a high factor. But Sawasdee Danvers destroys the game in that department because not only is their decor set-up for high satisfaction and cleanliness, it also serves amazing, hot, and appropriately flavored Thai dishes. By the way, I want to emphasize my praise for Sawasdee's usage of fresh ingredients. My friends order the normal Pad Thai pretty often, and I'm always amazed by the vibrantly green and lush green onions that are garnished on top of their dishes. Super fresh. Best Thai place in the North shore. The portions we're perfect. We went a but overload with ordering for two people but got a good taste of the different dishes. The papaya salad was great with just the right amount of spice. The sweet and sour chicken was more tomato based, don't expect it to taste like Chinese food sweet and sour. Since visiting Thailand last summer, I've really made it a point to try and find authentic Thai food. Anywhere you go pretty much there will be a bomb Thai place that serves dishes straight from Thailand. Yesterday I happened to find a really good one in Danvers! Of all places, I mean I don't know much about the area, but Sawasdee made such an imprint on my tastebuds. We ordered a shmorgasborg of goodies. From veggie egg rolls to onion pancakes. The best appetizer was the crab Rangoon. Delicious! It was so cold out, I needed some Tom Kha to warm me up. Love the soft tofu! My favorite dish was the pad see ew. That thick egg noodle with fried tofu, shrimp and broccoli is seriously phenomenal. For dessert the fried banana with sesame seeds and honey with creamy coconut ice cream. I die. Soooo bummed it's not around the corner from me. More like 2,555 miles away. Nevertheless it was an absolute pleasant experience. Zero complaints. I'll be back this summer!! read more

Fresh, delicious, and filling--3 words I use to describe each time I visit Sawasdee in Danvers! From the delicious, fried, crab rangoons with pineapple dipping sauce (not gluten-free), to the Pad See Ew (anything but "ew" and can be made gluten-free), everything is always so fresh and tasty when I eat here. Parking is somewhat "iffy" right in front of the restaurant, as it's on a street shop strip (say that three times fast), but they do have a large parking lot adjacent/behind the restaurant--just follow the street signs from the main road. Another great quality this restaurant has is I always seem to get a table no matter what day/time I go. They turn over the tables really well and the servers/hosts all work together to make sure you aren't waiting long for your table, food, or check at the end. I'd definitely recommend checking this out for a nice date night, quick catch up with a friend, or if you just want some crazy-delicious take out! read more

I ordered the 2/3 pepper rating, which was about perfect (I like spicy food.) Servers were very attentive, food for our group of 14 was impressively quick, and all at the same time. It had been a good 5 years since my last visit and I have no idea why. The ambiance and food are both extraordinary! We were a party of 6... They open at 4 pm and I'd made a reservation for 4:30 (yes, VERY early). They serve wine and beer, interesting teas, and soft drinks. A few of us ordered a glass of wine. One thing I'd remembered about this place is that the actual food menu is manageable... You can scan it in a reasonable amount of time... Some Thai restaurants I've been to the menu goes on & on. We ordered apps - each different with 2 ordering soups. I wish I could remember what people had but not at the moment. All excellent though. Our main courses were served after we had consumed nearly all.of the appetizers which to me is spot on. I really don't like it when timing is off and they bring everything out at the same time.... Or you wait & wait to the point where you might as well not even bother to continue. Our server was quiet and at the same time quite skilled. Throughout the meal she kept our water glasses full and asked if there was anything else we needed etc. But all done without hovering. The curry list here was what I had interest in. Remembering how excellent the yellow curry was, I ordered it with vegetables and pineapple. Wow, it did not disappoint! Ive eaten yellow curries in different parts of the world and to me this is as good as it gets. If I lived closer this place would be my second home! The portion seemed manageable, but along with the rice I got through about half, deciding to take the rest of it home. Most of my party did the same. Tasty dishes, diligent wait staff, and competence in the kitchen. One of the best restaurants in town. We had a very small table, which was nice. The appetizers came along and were simple, but good. When we were halfway through the appetizers the soup came, and there was no room and we were not ready. The appetizers were not done, the soup half-eaten and the two main dishes and sides came along and after squishing them on the tiny table, we had to rush to finish the appetizers, holding the dishes in the air, then make a pile in an attempt to manage the precious table space. It was like a bad flashback to the Newport dining in the heyday of the mansions. We had to fight to hang onto plates, even though it meant we had to literally hold on. I am a fast eater, but the meal here was rushed. The place had three tables, including a woman with an infant. It was not busy and there were at least three staff on the floor. SUGGESTION TO MANAGEMENT: If someone comes in and orders appetizers, soup, two main dishes, sides, and desert - it is not a rush job. It is not a fast food situation. Bring the dishes out, a couple of minutes after the last dish was completed. Soup can wait, and the dishes would have not been hurt to wait a couple more minutes until the soup was done. Even the desert was rushed, the table had not been completely cleared from the meal. And an offer of a little more tea would be appreciated. read more

This was my second experience since I've moved to Danvers over a year a go. I was craving Pad Tai and I figure why not give them a try again. I told the server I was dining alone so she sat me in the back with a view of the dishes and equipment and rubbish that customers shouldn't stare at. The restaurant has beautiful ambiance is you are seated in a nice spot. The servers we not very friendly. I didn't feel like a potential valued customer. Sawasdee is one of the better Thai restaurants I've been to, and I've eaten at quite a few. The food tastes super fresh and flavorful, and service is quick and friendly. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated yet simple, and spotlessly clean. And the prices can't be beat! I tried it for the first time this Tuesday and I've already been back. First of all the food was about half the portion you usually get and the honey sesame chicken had very little chicken and veggies and noodles Looked soggy in the sauce. Stopped by for an impromptu dinner and had a lovely time. I really love the cool, openness of the decor, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. There seemed to be a decent group of regular patrons as well, which is always a nice sign. The Thai iced tea was a little weak, I prefer it brewed stronger - still very tasty though! We ordered pad kee mao and pad see ew. The pad see ew was tasty, but the sauce felt very thin. I've been to Thai places where they'll have a variety of veggies (broccoli, carrots, shoots, etc), but this dish was literally just chicken and broccoli. We also both got tom kha soup, which was full of big pieces of chicken and fresh tasting scallions. Overall it was decent and tasty, and the prices were good. actually has me wanting to re-asses some previous 5 star ratings of mine to knock down by 1 star ... I'm not super picky as an eater + maybe that's the problem as a reviewer ... too generous with 5 star ratings perhaps ? I do often try to think of how challenging it is to run a restaurant given first covid, then inflation, plus being at the mercy of those reviewers who have 0 empathy or compassion .. the ones who give a 1-star rating because there was a water stain on a knife .. you know the ones I'm talking about ... but in any case, this place IS a five-star place, factoring in mostly the food in taste, presentation, freshness, and the ambience of the place is great too .. some background music plays but nothing to detract from good conversation .. all is exactly as you'd hope for in a dinner ... all that, and leftovers too ! :) read more

Thai food will always be my go to. The craving hit and I came here for lunch on a weekday. The pad Thai was super delicious. It came out fast, piping hot, kind of sweet (how Americans like me prefer). Inside the set up was clean, sunny, and inviting. Unfortunately, I was eating by myself so the noodles was scarfed down within 10 minutes and they didn't refill my water so I left. But it does look like a nice place to come with friends. I definitely want to come back and try something else. Unfortunately I did suffer from diarrhea afterwards and this was the only thing I ate all day so maybe something wasn't so fresh. We were definitely in agreement with all of the other reviewers. This cozy restaurant was cute, clean, had great service, and probably some of the best Thai food we have ever eaten. We ordered some plum wine. It was so delicious and very sweet...also went straight to my head and made me a little tipsy... lol! I ordered pad Thai with extra vegetables. The flavors and textures were all wonderful and seasoned perfectly. The veggies were tender crisp, the noodles rich and filling. I had 4 shrimp in my dish, which was okay, since it also had chicken, but it would have been nice to get a few more shrimp. My hubby's Mango curry was spicy, full of fresh vegetables, tender chicken, slices of mango, and perfect seasonings. Another bonus is that the restaurant is located in a cute, tranquil town. We walked around town after dinner, which was a nice change from the congestion and fast pace of Boston. Bumping up my rating to 4 stars after a second visit. Tried the Yum Nua (Spicy Beef Salad) and this dish alone makes Sawasdee a destination for me. Now we're talking real Thai flavors. The Tom Yum Soup (shrimp) was also great. My guess is that they use Thai fish sauce in both of these dishes, which imparts that je ne sais quoi "umami" flavor that totally makes them both pop. Why not 5 stars? Some of the other dishes still seem to miss the mark. The Hot Basil Crispy Chicken was a complete disappointment. The chicken was overly seasoned with soy sauce, which overpowered all other flavors. I could barely taste the basil and the saltiness had me chugging glass after glass of water. We also got a Red Curry Duck dish that was head-and-shoulders better than the chicken, but the red curry sauce was just a wee bit too sweet; otherwise, it would have been perfect. That Yum Nua (Spicy Beef Salad) though... out of this world. I can't stop thinking about it! read more

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon around 2 PM for lunch with a friend. The lunch menu is available until 3 p. The wait staff here isn't overly welcoming. We were seated and given menus immediately. We decided on the drunken chicken with brown rice, shrimp Pik Pow with sticky rice and added the side garden salad with ginger dressing for $2 (aka their "combination" which included choice of several small appetizer portions with each salad so we chose the steamed shrimp Shumai and Gyoza dumplings of which there there 3 each). Salads came first, followed by the appetizers and then within 15 minutes of ordering ... our lunch entrées. Pretty standard salad and appetizers. The chicken in the drunken chicken was a little overcooked and salty. The squid in the seafood entree was quite fishy. 2 scallops, 3 shrimp and 3 small pieces of fish and the sauce was pretty taste but way too much.
