Solera is now one of my favorite restaurants and place to get a drink! I walked in and was immediately greeted by a smile and all staff! Shoutout to Mellanie, Rylee, Kaia, and Christine who made mine and my cousins experience the best! They were on it with every request we had and made sure we were taken good care of The inside is very intimate and on the smaller end but that's what I love about it. We were sat at the bar and it was amazing. My favorites were definitely their artichokes, charcuterie board, and their deconstructed beef Wellington! Rylee had also suggested a white wine to me and it was the perfect drink. I will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes and have a stop for some wine and amazing service ! What a fun evening! The place was packed and lively but the service (by Riley) was still charming as hell. She was attentive without being intrusive - although she was so charming and funny, she was a welcome addition. We had the charcuterie to start - frankly there was so much it could have been the entire meal for all four of us. What a steal at that price! We also had the artichokes - just a beautiful dish of food - and the bread service. Awesome. Two of us got the duck - the mole is the star. One of the best moles I've ever had. Solera is a quaint wine bar where the owner Brandon's knowledge and passion for wine is apparent. I do suggest making a reservation and be aware that the tables are quite close together. It's a very lively, cozy vibe. We felt so well taken care of by all of the staff. I appreciated that they made my 86 year old grandmother smile and laugh throughout the meal, and made an extra effort to make sure she had everything that she needed. We both ordered the same dish, The Hangar, and it arrived to the table beautifully presented with the steak perfectly cooked. The dish was certainly unique, and I found out later it's their deconstructed take on a beef wellington. Personally I felt that the crepe on the bottom of the dish wasn't necessary and became soggy, but otherwise I absolutely loved the cook on the steak and the flavors in the dish. For dessert we had Connor's Closer which was olive oil cake with candied pecans and amaro-infused pears. It was moist and just the right amount of sweet. For the warm service alone, I'll be returning. It's also a perfect place to stop in for some charcuterie and a glass of wine at the bar. read more

Had a wonderful dinner at Solera last night in Seal Beach. This smaller restaurant was full of people and a festive feeling. The crew that night really worked hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. Both my friends had not eaten there before and I wanted them to experience this new restaurant, we go out for dinner every Tuesday night we can. We started with Cesar salads and the had a plate of breads and Burata with tomatoes on basil bread. The plate of breads had 3 delicious butters to choose from. I selected a lovely bottle of Chianti wine for dinner. Main course was delicious hanger steaks that we all decided to get. I especially ended to kale crepe with mushroom relish underneath the well seasoned and perfectly cooked Hanger steaks. I appreciated the steaks coming sliced up on the plate. Potato and carrots completed our plates. My friends were very happy with the meal. They all agreed we will be again. Good food, good service and a good night. read more

Newly opened restaurant in old town Seal Beach is a great location to enjoy before or after a meal. Four of us tried it for the first time this weekend. We did start with Charcuterie and bread appetizers. The different butters were outstanding. Both appetizers were excellent and more filling than expected as we were going to have dinner too. We had a variety of entrees. My pan-seared chicken was good. The sauces were good and there was fruit and sweet potatoes as part of the dish. The sweet potatoes were in the skin and very dry. The halibut was not enjoyed by the person who ordered that and was cooked differently than usual. The hanger steak was okay. The restaurant was full and loud for the early part of the meal until some people left. Seating is good but relatively close to one another. We heard from people next to us the pork chop was very good. Service was slow at first and we had to ask for water refills of the larger bottle they provide a couple of times. We like local ownership and hope they do well. I noticed 15 prior reviews all being a 5 which I think is too high. read more

The Preflight Bread Service, Honey Butter Cornbread, and Ground Control potatoes were the perfect way to start the meal. For our entrées, the Hangar, Wohrman Reserve, Pecking Through the Orchard, and Chophouse Standard were all cooked perfectly and each had its own unique flavors. Dessert was just as impressive. Conner's Closer and the chef's special tiramisu were the perfect ending to an amazing meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. We snagged a cozy lounge corner overlooking Main Street, which made for the perfect setting to catch up over good food and wine. A for effort! First of all, this is a great addition to Main Street, open for about a month now! The decor channels cute French bistro with some beachy tones. The tables are a bit scrunched together so keep your elbows in. No full bar, but the wine list should have something for everyone. My Syrah from the loire valley lost its peppery glory, but such is the risk we take with wine by the glass. The bread trio was a great starter, and the caraway was my favorite. However with the trio of butters was the star of the show: jalapeño butter. No need to change anything about that one. The rest of the food had some problems with execution: my cauliflower steak was quite flavorful but too oily. My friend's duck was also tasty but the skin was not crispy, and the accompanying mole was oddly seasoned with tamarind and cinnamon notes. Our neighbors were not thrilled with their crème brûlée as the custard was too thick and unwieldy. A birthday bonus is kindly provided with a free scoop of gelato, which had very fresh vanilla bean notes but was a tad freezer burned. Service was a bit slow but they were trying. There are still execution issues with the food and other kinks to iron out, but with some more time and finesse, I have high hopes for Solera and look forward to coming back. read more

We went recently for a birthday. I made a dinner reservation in advance. We arrived and they had our reservation, in a seating area by the window with comfy chairs and a couch and a low coffee table. This would have been so perfect if we were there for a glass of wine but not for dinner. We shifted to the bar and had a good time. Although we were all in a row so it was a bit hard to communicate. The appetizers were large portions and very good, the entrees were good. We ordered the steak x2, pork chop and the halibut entrees. The pork chop was the winning dish. Our bar neighbor ordered the cornbread and said it was a must try next time. We ordered some great wines. My advice to anyone making a reservation for dinner is to be specific if you want a table or the bar or the couch area as the restaurant is not that large and enjoy the great wines and food. The waiter kept forgetting that there were 3 of us and only taking a drink and food order from 2 of the guests. Our appetizer came over our main meal was served.
