I will never spend another dollar at Solar Nails ever again. I've gone here a few times when not able to go to Portland or Eugene and they've always been rude and not done what I asked. I still paid and tipped. However, my daughter really wanted to get her nails done there for her birthday because everyone else always has a good experience. Which is also why I kept giving them a try. I figured maybe it was just those particular nails techs because everyone else's always looked so beautiful. So I made two appointments and when we came in this afternoon and then took my daughter but said that no one would do MY nails in particular and loudly like I had done something wrong or not paid. So incredibly impressed with Solar Nails! My experience was wonderful! I love getting my nails done but I am a barista and my hands are constantly wet and around steam. This means that anytime I get a shellac manicure it peels off within a few days and the only way regular polish will stay on is if it's on acrylics. I walked in wanting a full set of acrylics and was surprised at how busy they were at 10:30am on a weekday! They fit me in though right away! The lady who did my nails looked at them and told me my nail beds were so healthy looking and asked why I wanted acrylics. I told her my reasons and she recommended I try a shellac manicure from them. I agreed and she started on my nails! She was very talkative and attentive and even recommended a little glitter ombré to make it fancy for thanksgiving! I still have my manicure on over TWO WEEKS LATER! Before hand I would like to let everyone know that I am a usual at Solar Nails for a good 4 years or so . When I first started going I was going with Teresa who is the owner of the place . I loved her quality of work but throughout time she was rushing her work and leaving my nails dry and un even with even powder that had already hardened behind my nail. I decided to change techs and started going with Ming . She is the absolute best and I hate to write reviews like this towards the salon she works for because she is so dedicated and takes her time and I love her ! But , in all honesty I would say .. SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE . 1. They never seat you at your appt time not knowing or because no considerate of your time 2. They over book themselves and end up rushing your set because the next set has already arrived 3. They will automatically speak in their language among each other after your ask them something or being up a concern 4. I actually did an experiment one time and walked in stating I had an appt when I really didn't and they took me in . What this means is that they don't ever keep track on their book . 5. As with other reviews... I will agree that they way over book. Every time I go in there to get my nails done, and I have an appointment, I'm waiting 15 to 30 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, for someone to get started on my nails. They have no consideration for their customers schedules and time. Furthermore, most days, from the moment they open, my guess is that they take their phones off the hook because their phone line is constantly busy. I have called repeatedly within seconds, within minutes, for up to an hour, and the line is constantly busy. If you open at a certain time, you should be taking phone calls at that time as well! People can't just walk in and get their nails done here. Every time anyone tries, they don't have time unless you have an appointment. So when people try to call to get an appointment, and their lines are constantly busy for hours, what sense does that make? Also, they probably don't even look at these reviews. They probably don't care about these reviews. The only way that anyone is going to get through to them, is having a face-to-face conversation with whomever is in charge... and good luck with that because they are always with a customer. It's sad too because their customers are the reason their business survives. Sometimes they do a great job on nails, and sometimes they don't. Any time I have a bad experience there, their tip gets lowered, or they don't get one at all. I don't see myself being a long-term customer of theirs. read more

After asking several girls where to go for solar nails here in town, I was told by several Solar Nails on River Road. Well I'm a skeptic, which is why I was going on 5 weeks w/o a fill, I am SO tired of people who don't understand me and my simple, english speaking requests, and sick to deathe of the girls who butcher my hands so badly that by the time the scabs, swelling and cuticle burns have healed, it's time for another fill! Not so there, I walked in and was seated immediately, the girl was gentle and concientious, paying attention to me, and not chatting on her cell phone as she worked (I really hate that). When a new customer came in, she spoke with them for only a few moments, and din't just saw away at me as she did. She was careful about insuring the length and shape that I wanted, quick and efficient and the nails were smoth and nicely coutoured when she was done. Tina Dang who owns the store is a very friendly woman as is the rest of her staff. They are very attentive and are very delicate on the hands. The prices they charge are not ridiculous at all, for a manicure it was only $8 and an eyebrow wax was the same price. I enjoy going to this place for their service and for the affordable options. When I answered the woman and said I had an 11 o'clock appointment for two people she didn't say a work back, so we sat down and waited (time was 10:45). We were seated at 11:15 in the pedicure chairs, water was started, and the woman went and sat down and started someone's manicure. We sat there until 11:40 and at this point the water was cold, and nobody had come over to start our pedicures. We got up, dried our feet, and walked out. No apologies were given, nothing. This is my second time going to Solar nails. This time I wasn't happy with how rough the lady was. She cut me multiple times, one cut got bad and it started to bleed. At first she apologized then she was blaming it on the file. Wasn't happy because once I got home every time I touched anything it hurt. I am rating because of the following: 1. I have been a client for 2 years complete with tips! 2. 6 months ago my REGULAR acrylic fill (not pink and white)went from $30.00 to $35.00 with no notice 3. Just two days ago my REGULAR acrylic fill (no pink and white) went fro $35.00 to $40.00 with no notice. Again, just plain regular acrylic fill. 4. They almost ALWAYS start 1/2 late even with an appointment. I have meetings to keep and have to re-schedule a lot because they cannot seem to start on time. 5. Often times the dremel is set too high and they cut into my cuticles which are super sensitive. I mention this each time but apparently American English doesn't always translate. This had always been my favorite place to have my nail done - they do a great job, the price is reasonable & most of the staff has been very nice to me over the years. But I won't be back during the Covid restriction and may never. Yesterday I had an appt after a long nail hiatus due to covid. I was very disappointed on how they were handling the pandemic. They had expanded their space but still there was no social distancing, I was placed right next to someone that was a "guest" of another customer (should never have been allowed) and I had to wait almost 30 minutes before my appt started (if I had known I would have waited at least outside). I was also amazed at how many people were allowed to congregate in the lobby area (which is not more than a 10 x 4' area) and wondered why people weren't complaining - I at least was sat down away from the main front area. Most every nail station was full and I counted at least 45 people in the business - a very busy business - definitely like pre-covid. They even had a table set out with their nail color samples that people could pick up, look through and set back down. I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't walk out when I saw what was happening! UPDATE: After ONE WEEK the polish on my thumb is coming off of the acrylic. So disappointed!! Will find another place to go to for my next fill. I came here after I had 2 people tell me this place was the place to go to. I'm very disappointed with the quality, especially after seeing all of the pictures they post on their FB page. I had higher expectations than what I received. False advertising almost. I called ahead of time and set up an appointment, they took my name and everything. When I arrived there were a lot of people waiting in the chairs at the front (very crammed btw) and none of the nail techs acknowledged that I walked in and one nail tech said to "sit and wait"... about 10 minutes later I was told to sit at a table and someone that walked in after me was told to sit by me. We sat there for 5 minutes and then was told to move to another table. The lady then started on the other girls nails, when I had an appointment and at that point it was 25 min past my scheduled time. I then got pulled to move spots AGAIN by another nail tech. This lady was very short with me. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and the color. I did ask to switch from the acrylic nail to their "solar" nail (hardening gel, my friend gets) and she ignored me and continued to shape and shorten my acrylics. She did do a good job on the length and shape. On my thumb though she filed so much on the one side that she went down to the nail bed and when I flinched and moved my hand (in pain) she didn't care and grabbed my thumb again and kept filing. I asked for chrome on one nail and full sparkle on another, but light blue instead of grey (in the picture I showed her) and that is NOT wh. Nails shaped unevenly, couple of tips glued on crooked when I advised her she said yeah I'll fix and then she kept applying acrylic powder and did not fix them, some spots were missed with acrylic powder, sloppy application by cuticles and underside of nails were not cleaned up so I had to get my electric drill at home and file out chunks of acrylic myself. This is the best place I have gone in the Salem Keizer area.. and I've gone to A LOT.. however, I only go to Heidi. I've gone to another lady here and didn't like them. She always works with me considering how picky I am. I will always go to her now I love my nails every time. They are surprisingly affordable as well! I went in to get a fill and wasn't sure exactly what I wanted so the lady grabbed multiple different colors and swiped each of them on my nails so I could see what I liked the best. Also, she even offered to fix the coffin shape because the person at a different place that had done them before had messed up the shape of my nails, but she was very precise and gentle. The place was pretty packed but my wait time was no longer than 10 minutes. When I first sat down I asked how much pedicure was the lady who help me said it was $22. She did a decent job on my feet I get better pedicures at my other place but I wasn't complaining. Right after my pedicure I went to go get my eyebrows waxed, The lady burned me with the wax. I'm the type of person that doesn't like to argue in public especially with a group of people who speak another language and you can't understand. So I decided to not say anything and just pay. $22 +8 dollars is $30 when I asked how much I owe she responded $33. Three dollars more is not a lot to argue Over plus I wasn't going to tip her because she had burned me. I came in last Friday for an appointment for a fill. I asked the nail lady to refile/reshape the nail, because from my previous experiences I was told to tell them before they put on the polish. I am a Vietnamese person myself, and when I went this older lady with glasses was talking shit this entire time in Vietnamese. The worst experience I have ever had. Getting my nails done is suppose to be an enjoyable experience. This was definitely not. On top of that she cut my finger and kept complaining about how tired she was.
