If you haven't been to The Beehive in Ukiah yet, you're seriously missing out. This place buzzes…read morewith flavor, creativity, and an atmosphere that somehow feels both upscale and completely unpretentious. The oysters? Absolutely immaculate and so fresh they taste like they just leapt out of the Pacific and onto your plate. Briny, clean, and ice-cold, they set the tone for a dining experience that only gets better. Next up: the torched salmon sashimi which is a masterpiece of craft. Lightly flame-kissed to bring out the richness without losing its silky texture, it's the kind of dish that makes you slow down and savor every bite. And then there's my personal addiction: the glazed pork belly. Perfectly rendered, meltingly tender, and finished with a glaze that strikes that magical balance between savory, sweet, and just a hint of heat. Honestly, if they offered this by the bucket, I'd order two. The Beehive doesn't stop at the food either. Their bar is loaded with a thoughtfully curated selection of spirits, including some incredible homespun specialties you won't find anywhere else. Happy hour here is happy for a reason combining amazing deals, handcrafted cocktails, and a vibe that just makes you want to linger. Bottom line: The Beehive isn't just a restaurant, it's a lifestyle decision. Fresh seafood, inventive bites, incredible drinks, and a welcoming scene all in one spot. Trust me this needs to be your go-to for any occasion when you are in our County seat.

I could get half a draft beer, there's a nice outdoor area, a cool bar cat that I became fond of, live music on Friday nights, and the staff is pretty awesome. The last time I went there was 4 weeks ago and unfortunately I will not go there again. My partner went there (he's also been there before) looking to see if I was there because I told him I was going there to retrieve my umbrella I had left there the night before. He was treated quite disrespectfully, even was threatened to have the cops called if he didn't get out of "his " parking lot. Mind you, this was during the day and my partner wasn't causing any trouble, he was just looking for me. This act alone was enough for me to decide that I wouldn't go there again. I understand people have bad days but when they are in service industry, you need to check that shit at the door before you start your shift. After all, the customer is paying their salary. Don't let my rants discourage you from going to Sports Attic 2, it's a cool place. I just can't get over the way my partner was treated.

We walked in and it was hopping with the locals. The bartender was personable and provided suggestions. He let us try the cider before we ordered. We tucked into The Grove (with reservations) on a rainy Friday for an early dinner. Despite having…read morethree menus - drinks, dinner, and happy hour - choosing what to order didn't feel overwhelming, and we quickly landed on the anchovy toast, beet salad, shrimp & grits, and mushroom risotto. Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.
