Enchilada Verde
Theresa F.

Worth the drive we went for Taco Tuesday this week for the third time and I just had to make a review!! I love the options here for vegetarians!! The helpings are huge, so go hungry... They are very attentive to your needs and are able to help you make the best choice for you!! Their beans are so delicious a mix of whole beans and mashed beans so good!! Crispy chips!! My husband had the chilaquiles and ate every bite!! My mother in law had the vegetarian burrito full of fresh vegetables and cheese. And I had cheese enchilada Verdes loved the tangy sauce and it is the only place that I can have this sauce in town so I really enjoyed it!! For me it's my favorite in town especially because they do make me a special pico de gallo because I can't eat onions! Ukiah has lots of options for Mexican restaurants but don't forget about my number ONE choice just north of the 101 on North State st next to the Yokayo Vet.

not on the menu - a custom requested three egg migas srambled with carnitas and green sauce, refries and queso

I have been eating here for well over 25 years now and its still one of the best traditional Mexican food places in Ukiah. The owner and staff are all kind and professional and will go out of their way to make sure you are a happy customer. My most recent late breakfast with a friend was no exception, case in point my friend who had not been in before, literally asked our waitress if they could prepare a special breakfast he liked from interior Mexico that was NOT on their menu and her response was yes. Even his requesting of specific ingredients was accommodated. Needless to say about 15 minutes later his custom requested breakfast appeared and it was in his own words "better than he makes himself" which just goes to show that great restaurants that make it this long are something special. The owner is very present and in the restaurant most days, even taking time to stop by our table to say hi again and meet my friend - telling my buddy, that he and I have known each other for several decades and thanked us both for stopping in again. I don't get down this way as often as I used to when I lived here, but this traditonal Michoacan style taqueria has some of the best food in the area. 4.5 Stars - rounded up for going out the way to make a new customer feel welcomed 00675

Deluxe Fajita dinner with beef, chicken, and shrimp.

Saw some nice reviews so wanted to give my feedback too. Be prepared to eat well here. The plates were huge, and very delicious. We took more home than we could eat there. Ambiance was cool with live mariachi. Next time we're in Oakland, I would go again.

Refried beans, rice and old lettuce you call that a veggie burrito?

Second time I've gone there and second time they screwed up my order I paid for something and they didn't even put it in the bag plus the food really is not good

Seeing reviews made us choose this place but honestly look at who is reviewing them. This place is not authentic Mexican food. When we got our drink with no flavor that's when we should have just walked away. Food was horrible not good and burnt. Will definitely not go back. If you don't know authentic Mexican food go here but if u do please just run the other way.

Shrimp taco combo

Trying to find a restaurant to eat on my way to my son's baseball game at Mendocino College. You can miss restaurant easily as the sign is hard to see but I saw and made a u-turn. My mom and i had a pleasant experience. The ladies were nice servers, answered our question for recommendations and took our orders, which we both took her advice. Ordered shrimp taco combo for lunch and was so delish! Perfect serving size too. Tasty and left full. Plenty of shrimp in one taco too. Fresh home made chips and good salsa that wasn't spicy. I would give it a try. They have a walk up counter as well as sit down. Posted daily specials too. Nothing fancy and very casual. Friendly service and also a good value.

Machaca with carne asada

Stopped here on the way home and was craving a Mexican breakfast. I was very impressed, really nice workers, super tasty salsa and homemade chips. The salsa was sort of chunky with lots of cilantro and some oregano, yum. I ordered the machaca with carne asada and the carne asada was very flavorful and meaty but not tough texture. Beans were the runny kinda that I like and rice was good. Also a hearty serving enough for leftovers tomorrow. Highly recommend.

SOOO GLAD I found this place. It is legit!! We ordered 2 carne asada burritos with everything to go!! So dang good!!! So authentic! The rice, The beans. The asada and everything else!! Yumm!! So good for my weary soul. The homemade flour tortillas reminded me of growing up in central California. I have been craving one ever since. This place did not disappoint! My one gripe is they only give you one side of salsa for your GINORMOUS BURRITO!! Which is probably enough for a normal Person BUT...This salsa roja is FIRE!!! Fantastic flavor with a solid kick!! Hunky hubster and I love heat so for us it was perfect and we were wanting MORE!! Hubs finished his whole burrito but I could only do 1/4 to 1/3 it was so packed full of goodness!! Everyone was helpful and friendly from the employees in the market to the servers/ cooks outside. Was great to watch them make the tortillas while you wait. 5/5 with no complaints only ravings and a deep abiding sadness that it is 8.5 hours (on a good day) away from home. We travel this way once a year to visit my Mother in Love in Brookings for her bday. I will be looking forward to next July when I can have my old school Mexican food longings fulfilled!! If you are bougie don't bother. But if you love the non fancy down to earth road side Mexican food with no flairs or fusion BS, it's definitely worth the time. $30 for 2 Carne Asada burritos LOADED WITH EVERYTHING!! Worth every penny and for me, more than enough to share! Again... if you like heat ask for extra salsa!!

I grabbed the menu and started looking for my go-to, the CarneAsada Burrito. The server came up within maybe 3-5 minutes asking if she could start us off with a drink or she could take our order if we already knew what we wanted. The five of did make our order and had our drinks in maybe 5-7 minutes. Maybe 20-25 minutes later our food arrived and when the server gave me my burrito I was kinda depressed because my burrito wasn't very big for the price. I assumed it was going to taste amazing but was sadly mistaken. I mean it was good but for sure not worth the price. The server was awesome with the service (drinks) but honestly if I go back, I will not be getting the Carne Asada burrito.

I started with one of their house margaritas--great flavor, a solid punch, and just enough tequila to spark a pleasant buzz. For my main dish, I went with the steak taquitos... or maybe they were flautas. I usually prefer corn tortillas for taquitos, but these were still quite good. The steak was well-seasoned, and the garnishes and salsa rounded out the plate nicely. My friend ordered the sizzling trio of fajitas and asked for the veggies extra charred. Honestly, I don't blame her. The aroma of blistered peppers and onions filled the air in the best way. Service was also good but can use a little less checking in. We enjoyed the food, but even more, we enjoyed the atmosphere and each other's company.

But, hey, they have a salsa bar that doesn't look like it's cleaned out very often, so that's probably why the food was expensive. One salsa, the red salsa, was horrible. I think someone dropped some Fabuloso in it or something. The rest of the salsas were watery and terrible. They did give us chips (a little stale) to wait for the food. We waited about 20 minutes for the food to get to us, and there were only 2 people other than us in the restaurant. The torta was terrible. It had absolutely no flavor. And I'm hazarding a guess that the meat was previously prepared, then microwaved. The burrito was less better, with the red sauce tasting like someone had run out of red sauce, then added a bunch of water to make more red sauce, then drenched the burrito in it. No flavor. The coke and the jarrito were good. As an extra, my son got sick from the burrito later. So there's that. No, not coming back.
