So, I found Murdoch Pool Service who was charging $180, but had great reviews. After speaking with owner, Brett, who assured me that they provide a better service than the cheap guys I signed up. After a couple of cleanings, I noticed they were only spending about 10 minutes on my pool and not leaving it "sparkling clean". I spoke with Brett about this and, after looking at the photo his guy took, he argued that he didn't see a problem with the service. I thought OK ...maybe I'm being OCD because I'm used to cleaning my own pool and spending way more than 10 min on it. Then we had strong Santa Ana winds hit and it left quite a mess of leaves, debris, and dirt in my pool. I was looking forward to Murdock coming to the rescue to clean it all up. They spent a little more time than the average 10 minutes and left my pool looking like it still needed to be cleaned. The photos were taken immediately after they left and you can clearly see that they failed to brush the sides, clean out the strainers baskets completely, etc. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten this level of service from the cheap guys. I was expecting to have them help me out for at least 3 months, until I could heal and get back to cleaning the pool myself, but after 2 months I couldn't continue paying a premium price for a sub-standard service. I found myself hopping around the pool on one leg trying to clean up after they left. I would highly suggest you find someone else to clean your pool.

They came out and sanded around my skimmer lid as well as removed and reinstalled all of the loose tile on my spillway between the spa and pool. I am glad that in the end they made right what they could. I will also say that they offered to have their team come work on the pavers to improve the uneven cuts the other contractor left. While I am frustrated that they recommended a contractor that wasn't good, the poor quality of that work is not theirs to own. I thank them for the things they did fix, I just wish it didn't have to hinge around a yelp review.

The job ended up lasting more than 6 months, as opposed to a few weeks. While most contractors would have walked away, PS2000 stuck with us and went above and beyond. They ultimately diagnosed the pre-existing issues and fixed them. The HOA board was very impressed with PS2000's customer service, workmanship, and dedication to the job. It cost a huge amount of money to get this done. However, fiberglass lasts 4 times as long as plaster. Kyle was very friendly. The lady at the office could have been a little friendlier. The reason I took away a star was because even though I waited patiently to see if all the little details were going to be taken care of like they promised, near the end on the second week, I had to keep after them a bit to fix minor things that could become a major problem later. There are a couple of uneven tiles that my eyes can't un-see, and I was still finding masking tape after they left. I'm trying to ignore the uneven tiles. The workers moved some heavy objects that never got put back which normally wouldn't be a big deal, but I can't move the planter myself, it's too big and heavy. Overall, the pool coating is supposed to last 20-ish years with proper maintenance. I won't really know how well this held up for about a decade.. Overall, the pool looks great. I've used it a couple of times since it was refinished. Expect a lot of noise and pungent smells. If you have animals make sure they're indoors in an area that has a good air filter to keep them safe. The pool company will give you a letter for all your neighbors. I edited mine just a bit to be more specific for this situation and neighborhood, then hand delivered it to all the neighbors behind us, and on either side to make sure they were safe too. Perhaps one of the things that I most admired about Mike is that he stood by his work. During the removal of the old surfaces, a couple of PVC parts from the attached jacuzzi were broken. Mike accepted responsibility for the damage, and promised to repair/replace them. The pool was built in the '70s, and some items are no longer available. Their bid was in the middle -- very fair price for high quality work. When we signed the contract, they stated the project (complete pool renovation - surface, waterline tile and coping reset) would take about four (4) to five (4) weeks. They completed the work in two (2) weeks. During the process, they clearly communicated day of service, time, their intentions and scope of work. We were very impressed in how they conduct their business. To say the least, Capstone/Dynamic is very professional, clear in delivery expectations and communications, and incredibly skilled in their craft -- pool renovation, especially surfaces. We have a pebble surface that has been expertly done and gives the water a "Caribbean Blue" color. Without question, I highly recommend Capstone/Dynamic for your pool renovation project. We hired Capstone to renovate our pool a few years ago. The project included replacing the original…read moreplaster with PebbleTec, installing new waterline tile, and refinishing the rocks, waterfall, and slide, and new pool lights. Their office staff communicated well throughout the process, but unfortunately the workmanship has resulted in ongoing problems. They have returned approximately five times to address issues, yet we continue to have concerns. One major problem was that the area where the new tile met the skimmer box was never properly sealed, causing the pool to leak. We were told we needed to pay to have the leak detected, so we ultimately fixed the issue ourselves. The pool lights did not work. The paint used on the rocks has also proven to be very poor quality. It continually peels off, exposing the gray primer underneath, making the pool look worn despite only being a few years old. The PebbleTec finish is extremely rough--so rough that it has caused our children's feet to bleed while swimming. We expected a durable, professionally finished pool, not one that has required repeated repairs and still isn't comfortable to use. While the communication from their team was good, the quality of the work did not meet our expectations, and we cannot recommend them based on our experience.
