Beef Brisket Rice Noodle (bottom) Ground Berkshire Pork & Fried Egg Rice Noodle (top)
Sarah X.

It's been a while since I've been to an authentic Chinese restaurant in north Jersey! I came here on a Tuesday night, and there was no wait for a two-person table. The vibes were really cool; I loved the warm lighting and modern, cozy interior. We ordered the Beef Brisket Noodle and Ground Pork and Fried Egg Noodle, they were both amazing-- so flavorful and authentic! My beef was perfectly tender, and the spice was pretty mild. We also ordered the Tomato and Eggplant, holy sh*t it was so saucy and flavorful; it tasted just like how my dad would make it at home. I would definitely come here again. The only reason I took off one star was bc my dish was really salty; but overall, highly recommend for anyone in the area craving authentic Chinese food.

Food is delicious, the service is top notch and the ambiance is super clean, classic and chic. A beautiful restaurant to stop by. Love the attention of the details and how nice the staff of this location are. Their beef briskets soup is the ultimate holy grail so delicious. Popcorn chicken was a wow moment and my husband loves the eggplant and tomatoes casserole dish.

Stinky Tofu

Some great Chinese food with stuff that's hard to find in America. I actually found this as a Google Ad when looking up food so it was rly just luck. When I saw they had stinky tofu I was immediately sold. Despite this, if you look up stinky tofu and you're not specifically next to summit or in summit you won't find it that way. Anyways, the stinky tofu was sooooo good. It tastes exactly like the ones in Changsha China, possibly even stinkier (a lot of the main stream places weren't that stinky :(). I was so surprised, it's faint but definitely closer to the taste of Taiwan's stinky tofu but with all the yummy sauces of Changsha stinky tofu. I've been on the hunt for truly stinky stinky tofu and this one hit the spot. It was so good I had to get a second one. The rice noodles were also good. The egg was very jammy. The soup dumplings were pretty yummy as well. The shop is also very cute, it reminds me of the mall restaurants in China. It's in a nice area in Summit too so you can go shopping, get cream, or anything afterwards.

Shrimp Fried Rice

This place is so cute!! I would say the dishes they serve here are pretty authentic and I enjoyed all the apps I got, but was not blown away by the entrees. For apps, I tried the cucumber salad, popcorn chicken, and the pork soup dumplings. The popcorn chicken pieces could have been a little bigger. For my entree, I had the beef brisket noodle soup. This is one of their most popular items, but for me I felt like it was way too salty. My party also tried the mapo tofu which was a big hit and a great vegetarian option. The shrimp fried rice was good, but also nothing extraordinary.

This isn't Americanized Chinese food; it's an authentic Chinese restaurant with delicious food. If you can handle spicy food, I highly recommend it!

Rice noodle with beef and onion

The fish with green peppercorn was a true highlight here. Fresh, flavorful, unique for this area, and authentic. It was a little small for the portion size, but will definitely get this again. The beef noodle was also very tasty, but had so many onions it was a little overpowering.

Garlic Cumin Spare Ribs 蒜香孜然排骨

Everything we had was delicious. We got garlic cumin spare ribs, crispy beef, black pepper beef fried rice noodle, Berkshire pork & fried egg, beef & pickled pepper rice noodle, cucumber salad, and for dessert we had a coconut mango mousse. My personal favorites were the spare ribs and the black pepper beef fried rice noodle

34 Maple St, Summit, NJ 07901Sofun Noodle Bar is a lovely spot with a clean vibe and approachable dishes. We tried several items: spicy trotters, mashed eggplant with century egg, and cold rice noodles. Everything was enjoyable, but don't go in expecting authentic Hunan food. It's Chinese-style with some chili kick, but the soul of true Hunan cuisine isn't quite there. Still--solid option if you're in the area.

Fried Pumpkin Ball

One of my favorite restaurants ever! I am so happy to have an authentic Chinese restaurant In town. Everyone is so friendly And the decor is gorgeous and modern. You have to try the fried mochi pumpkin balls! Such a fun texture and the plating is so cute! I can't wait to be back . :)

TLDR: It's a Chinese restaurant that you can trust. The english menu won't tell you everything they…read moremake, and you will be rewarded by knowing certain foods in Chinese. Tofu and Fish hotpot: Fried white fish, fried tofu, string beans, bell peppers in a sauce that is probably reduced chicken stock. I'm biased since it's one of my favorite chinese dishes. I don't know when this specific dish is amazing, but I can tell you when it's bad. Green Lake's version is anything but bad. Shrimp Stuffed Tofu: We were given a sample since they were trying something new. The sauce is similar to the tofu hotpot but has a porkier feel because of the ground pork within the dish. The tofu is the same, but the way they fried it is different, so it took a step up. The shrimp was fine, and I think they should have this on their menu. Whole Fried Chicken: It's fine. Didn't love it. There's no batter to speak of at all, and you're reliant on the spicy sauce and ginger sauce provided. Stir Fried French Beans w/ Salted Fish: Crunchy French Beans, and very salty salted fish. Not my favorite, but it keeps things different. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Hokkien Fried Rice: My chinese restaurant guilty pleasure. How else can you get a shrimp fried rice bathed in an umami sauce? The restaurant did a really good job with this and I'm glad that I asked if they had it (in chinese). Service: It was a slow night, so we had all the attention that our table needed. Ambiance: The location is big and can support small families to larger gatherings. They have a private area that fits 30+ people, so they look like the go-to spot for parties.

They roll the carts through the restaurant offering lots of dumplings, soups, noodle dishes and more. We loved everything except the Turnip Cake was way too salty. Someone dumped salt or too much soy sauce onto this dish. Also we were offered vegetarian dumplings that had some greens in it, but was mostly pork. Be sure to ask about the ingredients if you don't want pork or meat in a dish. We've been here before and all other dishes were great...Chinese broccoli sautéed, dumplings with shrimp, eggplant with shrimp, sautéed wide noodles with some veggies, soup dumplings, etc. finally tried the mango dessert. It was yummy.

So…read morewhen I found Qin Dynasty in North Jersey, I was willing to make the trek - especially since I had a dim sum craving one weekend. We got there at around 11 on a Saturday. It was crowded but not packed yet. We were seated right away (your whole party needs to be there). There are so many options for dim sum - some that you don't even typically see in Brooklyn/Chinatown. For example, I saw some lobster tails, and a giant cheesy oyster that looked really good but I'm sure they were $$$. We stuck to the dim sum basics - ha gao, shumai, beef churng fun, chicken feet, chicken sticky rice, steamed cha siu baos, and tofu pudding. I don't have any complaints about the dim sum. All were good and some were even better than ones in NYC. And let me tell you - they do not skimp on the meat here. The ha gaos and shumais were so plump! Since it's a rarity that we get to have authentic Chinese food, we also ordered the salted fish and diced chicken fried rice, and the pan-fried noodles with beef. Both were good and had lots of meat. Service was surprisingly attentive - unlike in NYC where it takes forever to flag down a waiter. Our waiter was always nearby and seemed happy to help with our requests of water, chili oil, etc. I think we might have found our go-to Cantonese restaurant. It's just a shame it isn't closer to home.

The great thing about eating dimsum in an 18 person group is that you get to try everything in a happy, non-rushed environment. So many dumplings, rice noodles, seafood and sweet dishes to choose from. I loved the rice noodles with beef and also with shrimp, the baked roast pork buns, sesame balls, shumai ... the list goes on. I don't usually get dessert but the mango and coconut puddings were so good. I also liked the egg tarts. It was a very genuine experience and I'm glad I got to try. It's very refreshing to not have to travel to NYC for great dimsum!

I've never had anything I didn't like. The food portions are nice and big - you will have leftovers (which you take home in a reusable bag!). The highlight for me is their drinks. Let me get one thing straight. Shan Shan Noodles doesn't care about this review. They don't care if…read moreyou come. Why? Because they are busy AF. They are buzzing. We went for the first time Sunday at like 3pm? Full. Take out orders flying out the door. It's a cute place. Standard strip mall aesthetic. But they do have a window where you can see them hand pulling the noodles. That's right, hand pulling the noodles which is the main attraction. The food is from the North Western part of China near Pakistan so there are some Indian influences like their Cumin lamb and pulled noodles one of their most popular dishes. But I'm getting ahead of myself. With my vegetarian wife who as usual ruins everything by insisting we order vegetarian appetizers. Scallion pancakes were delicious. No pictures because we ate them immediately. Pan fried dumpling. 9 of them. That's a big portion. And it was like 9-10 bucks? They make their own dumpling wrappers, their own dipping sauces. Dumplings were very good. You could really taste the vegetables. Focused on the quality of the ingredients. My wife had the hand pulled noodles in hot oil. Marked spicy it was American spicy. Did not blow your head off. O enjoyed them. They give you a pair of scissors. Because it's one long noodle. Do not use them on your birthday. More on that later. I had the aforementioned cumin lamb and pulled noodles. I liked it but it was overwhelmingly cumin flavored which obviously is the point of cumin lamb. I'm not saying over seasoned I'm just saying it announced itself as this is cumin lamb. Period. We also had bubble tea! How fun is that? My wife had taro which they made with non dairy milk for her. I had pomegranate with exploding bubbles. Never had those before. Also super fun. They did not explode in an American way or even a Chinese way as both countries let's face it are pretty well known for making things explode. No in a pleasant way. Waitress was delightful we had obviously a long conversation about the food and the restaurant. The scissors are for Americans who share their food. In China you would eat the noodles slurp them without cutting them because eating long noodles especially on your birthday is supposed to promote a long life. We did not learn this until after cutting my wife's noodles. It was her birthday. I will miss her but also look forward to meat based appetizers. One door closes and all that. They also own the bakery a few doors down. Very light chiffon style cakes. Not too sweet. Chocolate Oreo cake. I asked if that was very traditional. Oh how we laughed at my hilarious joke.

The broth's flavor was on the mild side, whilst relying on the spice's heat to shine as the primary flavor. The beef was also mild, but especially tender. There was also a good amount of proteins in the soup and the hand pulled noodles were perfectly thick and chewy. Overall it was a great dish for a chilly night out.
