Our new favorite chinese food in Millburn! Since moving, it's been difficult to pinpoint which chinese restaurant would become our go-to. Dragon Garden is definitely it. The food feels fresh, the kitchen was immaculate, the staff was kind and helpful, and everything was delicious (and affordable!) Its also the easiest to park by, making pickup quick and stress-free. Dragon Garden is our go to location in the area for takeout Chinese food. They are multiple dollars cheaper than the closest competitor with excellent food and good portion sizes. Unlike other local Chinese restaurants, they also always provide accurate time estimates for how long it will take for our food to be ready. The owners of the restaurant are also incredibly kind and always ask after our children or offer them additional treats when they come in. Best of all - the food offerings are extensive, the owners are accommodating, and anyone in our group, including those with allergies or restrictions (like no fish sauce) are able to find something to eat. We've found our local Chinese-American food takeout joint! The owners are super friendly, nice and accommodating. We appreciate that they allow us to substitute brown rice for white without additional charge and are flexible with requests to add less sugar (to their General Tso's chicken, for example, as we found it a bit sweet). Their singapore mei fun was SUPERB! Best we've had and we've been around. Chicken with broccoli, beef with mushroom, fried chicken wings, and egg drop soup were delicious as well. The food was super yummy and came out really fast, which is always a plus. My girls loved their broccoli and chicken--it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I tried the Singapore mei fun and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It had lots of flavor and just the right amount of spice. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. I heard about this place thru a social media post from a friend, had never heard of it and I've driven past it 100 times and never saw it, it's that non descript. They don't deliver, it's take out only and there no sign to let you know it's there. I'm fact when I parked in the strip mall I honestly had to walk around to find it. All that aside, this was amazing food. Hands down, the best hot and sour soup I've ever had and the noodles were so crisp, not the stale ones that so many places give you. The fried wonton were also freshly made and so delicious. Chicken with mixed vegetables was equally fresh and yummy. I must warn you, don't try to banter with the woman at the counter, she ain't having it, there are even signs that say" no cell phones" and please be quiet. This is a must try if you live close. While the food was passable mostly, the customer service is horrid. 2 stars for food, only. The eggroll had about a tablespoon of filling. Soup was hot, entree edible. Please don't yell at me when giving me my order for which I have already paid. Why must this woman be so mean. Only one other customer ahead of me. If things are so busy, that's great, be happy for the business dollars. If business stinks (and it's tough out there for small shops), make an effort to be pleasant and even thankful. Terrible place. I ordered food at the counter, and before the meal was ready, I questioned something about the food (just a question and a small suggestion). The woman suddenly changed attitude and face, all vicious words came out of her mouth, and then refused to complete the order. I wasted my 15 min there, nevertheless, was happy to have skipped the order there since I knew a shrew and liar could not produce healthy and tasteful food. We had lunch yesterday from DG. It was delicious. One order of Kung Pao Shrimp from lunch menu and Lake Tung Ting Shrimp from dinner menu. Nestled somewhat behind a subway in the strip mall, it can be quite easy to overlook Dragon Garden. It is a total hole in the wall take out/delivery joint since they only have a few seats to sit at while you wait for your order. They don't offer anything too special, just the standard fare that you would expect. I ordered their beef with broccoli, lo mein, and some chicken wings. I don't have anything particularly exciting to say about any of them, but that's not really such a bad thing. When you get that craving for cheap chinese food, give Dragon Garden a call. read more

Although the General Tso's chicken had a pleasantly smoky aroma, there was no crispness and just some mildly tangy sweetness to the sauce. So so sad. There are new people working here now and it is NOT the same. I won't be back. This was never an amazing Chinese take out place but it was decent and made comforting American-Chinese food and really good dumplings. Now, the old couple have left and gone back to China and the food is all bland. The ingredients aren't as good either! The sesame chicken used to have a nice flavor and was strips of chicken breast meat. Now they use frozen little balls of breaded chicken and the sauce is just sugar sweet with no savory flavor. Bleh. We also ordered chicken and cashew extra spicy and the hot and spicy beef. Both were bland and flavorless and the chicken tasted like the water in a can of raw water chestnuts. I threw them all in the trash. We also got a simple steamed chicken and broccoli for my little girl and the broccoli was raw and undercooked. They were also putting all of the brown rice in the microwave and then into to-go containers while it used to be in the big rice cookers up front. Worst of all, the dumplings are terrible now! They're the main reason we used to come here. :( They look like perogies now. Whoever is making them doesn't know what they're doing. Recently had a great take out experience here! We tried a small boneless spare ribs but the order easily fed 2-3 people. The meat was sweet, tender and delicious! Hot crispy eggrolls, tasty wonton soup, fresh moo shoo chicken, and zesty orange chicken all made for a wonderful dinner. Something I particularly like about this location was their service. It is owned by a family who cooks and operates everything together. Something about a small business these days is charming and makes me want to keep giving them my business. First time ordering from this place. Placed my order over the phone. Got to the place. You stand outside the main door while you pay and receive food through a slide in the doorway. Long story short, expect to pay cash if your bank card is not with a BIG bank. They don't accept credit unions nor American Express. Food turned out to be decent. read more

When I moved to the area, I was looking for a good local Chinese food place. Dragon Garden is still one of the best places I've gone to get food. I have yet to try something on the menu I don't like, from the fried dumplings (mouth watering) to the variety of entrees. The owner is incredibly nice, and if you go there regularly, she greets you and knows what you like in your order.
