My favorite Chinese food restaurant. The food is always delivered fast, hot and as ordered.

It has been over a decade since my last review.. and I have come again many times since. The food has been consistently good, which means an update is in order. I've been coming here since this was named "Ling Ling," for 25+ years. The last time I came to get takeout, my family really enjoyed the chicken lo mein which they make with mushrooms (yum!). I've ordered takeout three times from Ms. Lin, and all of the dishes I've tried end up disappointing. I've tried the lo mein, chow fun, vegetables and brown sauce, and chicken; the food is so greasy, and it tastes so cheap, it's nearly inedible. I'm giving the restaurant this low rating bc I feel like the standards for decent Chinese takeout are not very high to begin w/, so to serve food this greasy is pretty bad in my opinion. I will say though that the restaurant itself is clean, and the service is quick. read more

Popped in for a quick dinner on a weekday, they were quiet and it was early still, around 5pm. They seated us quickly and took the order quickly, served quickly and had us out the door quickly, so that was great! BYOB, I think. Started with a snack of fried wonton skins with the duck sauce, simple and left me wanting more. Hot and sour soup is mostly water and cornstarch, very little vegetable inside and the flavor was a bit too thin - I like a stronger soup with more spice and white pepper. That was the only disappointment (I do love my H&S soup). The beef chow fun with the wide rice noodle, that was actually pretty good and not too oily which was nice, though it did lack some scallions or other flavor to enhance, and some of the onions were a bit undercooked. The last dish we tried was the mushu chicken, and that was actually quite good, better than expected and worked well on the rice as well as the flat wraps they provided. Will come back for this. Overall I've had better, but this is the best local Chinese restaurant I've had so far - I'll still travel to some of my favorites in Manhattan and elsewhere, but at least I know where to get a couple of good dishes if I'm too lazy to cook! read more

I'm so disappointed with the quality of food at Ms. Lin. I've been ordering here for years but today it was a total disappointment. Did it change ownership? The Mapo tofu did not taste anything like what it should have. The chicken in the mixed vegetables dish didn't taste fresh. The sauce looked thick and stale, but with no flavor. It looked like they used the same sauce for the mapo tofu and the mixed chicken dish. But with no flavor! So disappointing. read more

We like the food at Ms. Lin, but the prices are very high and the food is comparable to other local restaurants. However, we'll always keep coming back for the vegetarian won ton soup. It is a unique and delicious offering and we haven't been able to find anything similar elsewhere. It's a comfort food favorite in our household and we come back often for it! read more

Everything is very garlicky! If you're allergic or intolerant as I am, be warned. Even the scallion pancake dipping sauce was LOADED with garlic. The pancakes themselves were dripping with oil. I'm not one to waste food, but I threw it away. The hoisin chicken was a little on the bland side, but at least it did not have garlic. We didn't order anything (like egg rolls) that required soy sauce, duck sauce, or hot mustard, but we got about half a dozen little plastic zip-up baggies full of the plastic sauce pouches as well as some plastic forks. They also use all plastic packaging, not the old-school paper fold-up Chinese food containers. A lot of waste. I tried this place about 10 years ago when I moved to the area. Surprise for us!!! It was a pleasure to find a local Chinese full service restaurant nearby with excellent food choices. We no longer have to trek into the City. Definitely recommending to all we know. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and with wait staff pleasant with answering questions and offering suggestions. read more

I drove past this Chinese restaurant a few times and decided to finally check it out. Not what I expected! Big mistake. The food was just OK. Considering the price my meal was without a soup. I wasn't even offered tea and or any other beverage. I was reluctant to leave a tip, but I did anyway. That was my second biggest mistake. I would not recommend. read more

ok, todays order was outstanding. the ( 2 ) bbq ribs were meaty and cooked well. The ( 1 ) Spring roll was crunchy and tasty. the (1) general tso's was good, they even tried too follow my request to make it crunchy. the (2) steamed dumplings were great, not dry. Someone else ordered (1) cold sesame noodles which they said was good. The wonton soup was tasty. The order cost $75 Been a customer for a few tears now and they've gone from, OK, GOOD to VERY GOOD. Great healthy Chinese food. My family loves it and have been ordering from them for over 8 years. Food is far less greasy than most Chinese food in the area or anywhere for that matter. Best dishes, dumplings, General Tsos white meat chicken and Chicken and Broccoli! read more

Soooo I recently moved to the area.... A matter of a few months, and struggled to find a Chinese food place that was good and delivered. Food was super good... don't know what it looks like inside.. found it on go to yelp, of course.. the trustie go to community site and so happy. The service was outstanding! I had such a great experience here. Parking can be a little challenging but found street parking no problem on a week night. Came in for dinner, and the dining room is really pretty. I just loved the environment. Service was excellent. Ordered soup to start and shared an entree. Wonton soup was perfect. Portions are a really good side and it was really delicious. Unfortunately this was one of the worst chinese food orders I have encountered. The only thing I enjoyed was the wonton soup and for that I will give it one star but the shrimp and broccoli was awful and tasteless broccoli did not taste fresh at all. The egg foo young wasn't terrible but the gravy they provided was watery and not what most restaurants provide. Waste of money and will not be back. read more

Experience April 17 2020* may 102020* I was looking for some great Chinese food with good reviews and I came across Ms.Lin's . I'm so happy I did. Being new to the area I wasn't sure about were to order take out from especially during the shutdown of the pandemic . Ordering was super easy and once they even gave me a call back when my order was ready . When I arrived they were pretty organized as far as having a line for door dash amd having pick up orders .They even offered a little sanitizer station near the door also after you finished using a pen to sign for your food . Big menu but our server was a great help with suggestions. Definitely would go back for a relaxed dinner. If you're a hot sauce lover their oil was a good kick! My favorite was the house special fried rice. The only struggle was finding out which wine to bring for a Chinese diner. read more

Quality and flavor are just not the same. Sorry to write this review. Over the years we have always found Ling Ling or Ms. Lin as the better Chinese food place. Whether it's the soup or shrimp rolls for lunch or or delivery of a full meal, it's always been good. This past Friday evening we ordered the General Tso's chicken and paid extra for the white meat version. I looked for a way to order extra brown rice but could only write it in the notes section of the item. So delivery came and no brown rice. So a little problem with the onliine order process. Not a big deal. But, the flavor was just not there, the chicken tasted microwave thawed and the coating was thicker than usual. There was very little sauce on the meal so it was kind of dry. We may order the soup and shrimp roll but no more meals. read more

Needed dinner. I was going to just get white rice than saw the steamed chicken with mixed vegetables on the menu. Than I saw I could get gluten-free brown sauce. The only negative was it took over an hour to make. I placed the order online, through the Yelp app, at 4:30pm today and I didn't get notified until 5:30pm that it was ready. I think they were just busy. When I picked up the order, they had plenty of staff. I enjoyed every bit of it. I have enough for a second meal too. I only wish there were more other vegetables and less broccoli. I'm going to request this next time. I will be back. And I recommend. Also very close to downtown Millburn. read more

Delivery via Uber for Dinner It was a bit expensive, but it was very good quality! Had a Vegetable Roll - very good Fried Dumplings - very good /loved the Hoison Sauce too! General Tso's chicken - picture on there website showed broccoli n it, but it came with green peppers. Thought it could of had more sauce - but the chicken chunks we very big and not like normal "all the same size" nuggets most places have. Pan Fried Beef Noodles was huge and didnt have noodles in it. It came with a bag of hard noodles that I mixed in with container and it was okay. I was expecting big "linguine like noodles" instead it was the super skinny ones that resembled a "bird's nest". Excellent Chinese food, and one of the few restaurants with indoor dining during these virus times. Visiting from Los Angeles and was so glad I found this gem. Ordered the Szechuan Dumplings for the appetizer. Was delicious. Main course was Tangerine Beef. Very tasty and filling. The fresh hot mustard was just that - hot! So glad I gave them a try. My friend bought lunch from here today. Sesame Chicken, MooShu Shrimp, shrimp fried rice and a few other things It was inedible. The Moo Shu Shrimp was mostly lettuce, poorly cut, white whole tough dried mushrooms, whole shrimp and no flavor. The Sesame Chicken was large chunks of dried out chicken breast in a overly thick tasteless cornstarch sauce with no heat or any spice. We ended up throwing it out as it was an inedible. Part of the problem my friend was saying, is the cooks are lazy. They are lazy with knife cuts of veggies, lazy using the proper ingredients, lazy cutting protein properly, they are lazy with spicing and there was no 'wok hei' that is so necessary to make Chinese food have that flavor that makes it a unique cuisine Hard pass read more

Had takeout and it was honestly the blandest, horrible tasting Chinese food I've ever had. Absolutely horrible.

The food - ordered steamed chicken, steamed beef and chicken wings - was ready for pickup in 10 minutes. I picked it up and returned home in 5 minutes. It was completely cold; obviously had been cooked much earlier and put in the fridge and not even heated! Okay I heat it up and it is awful - scrapings that reminded me of dog food and completely tasteless and bland. The chicken wings were edible but hard and dried out. Terrible experience. read more

Anyone who knows my reviews, knows i am a critical hump. So 4 stars is huge, this place is really really good, everything was fresh, good sized portions even for a small size. Overall food was on the bland side. However compared with other chinese restaurants in the area, it was not greasy and had no hair or bugs in it. The pork lo mein and the pork fried rice have huge hunks of pork fat and really zero pork meat. Also the pork fat was cut in huge strips and chunks. The other entrees were fine, not bad after doctoring up with soy sauce and mustard. Food seemed fresh. Very friendly staff and the restaurant was busy. I would try it again. The owner, Kevin, is a gentleman, who takes customer service and preparing the absolute best food for his customers, very seriously!
