Let me start this review by saying...I wish Sofia's was closer! I travel all the way from Weehawken to come to Sofia's. It's a delicious Greek eatery. Although the restaurant is small, Sofia's churns a ton of business out of their small kitchen. Everyone in the area knows this place is wonderful, so there is usually a wait here. However, they do offer take out. Every time I dine at Sofia's, I always start with the fried eggplant and zucchini chips. They are a delicious, crunchy, savory way to start the meal, and their homemade tzatziki can't be beat. I usually stick with the chicken gyro or chicken platter - both are delicious. Their classic gyro pita / platter is delicious too, as is their falafel. All in all, Sofia's is a solid choice if you want yummy Greek food. While I only tried the sandwiches and platters here, they have classic dishes such as spanakopita and moussaka. Also, I went recently during COVID, and the staff was very attentive to details such as mask wearing, sanitizing, and social distancing. read more

Nice, casual Greek restaurant. Booth style tables on one side and regular tables on the other. Came by for lunch with my husband. Service was very good. Portions were generous and delicious. We shared the grilled octopus app. It was tender and seasoned perfectly. We also shared the hummus. I like how they gave us fried and regular pita with it. For lunch I had a small Greek salad and my husband had the same but also a trio of meat on a stick (shrimp, chicken and pork). The chicken was a tad dry but everything else was delicious. As always, when I'm out here flying, I seek out the best local restaurants that I can. I don't bother giving bad reviews unless it's really horrid. Whenever I fly into Teterboro, I make sure I go to Sofia's. Hands down one my TOP 5 places. I've told many other flight crews to go and they have all reported back that it was fantastic. Every person is in there is welcoming, funny and they know the dishes inside out. It's hard to find a group of 20/30 year old kids that are passionate and professional. They are. Please note This review is only for the vegetarian food at the restaurant and not about any meat options available here. I ordered for take out from this place as have been hearing rave reviews about it from friends and fellow yelpers. Also this place is very close to my house so wanted to give it a try. But unfortunately we did not like the food from here so definitely not coming back. This place might be good for meat options but for the falafel and beet salad it was not the greatest. For the price I paid the falafel was less in quantity and the taste was also not great. When I asked for extra tahini on top of it they charged me $1 extra and even after paying that the sauce was not good. I am also not a big fan of their hummus as it felt like too thin in consistency. The beet salad was ok seemed too salty for my taste and since it had more salt it became watery and had to throw it away. I might be sticking with mamouns or taiim for my falafel needs! read more

I had Sofia's bookmarked for a while so when I was in the area I had to try. This is a greek spot through and through. The greek music was blasting and it has all the greek heavy hitter menu items. They have saganaki which is a classic but I was bummed to see that they dont flame it at the table. All good. The chicken with orzo dish was not my favorite and looked a little watery. Good flavor but the dish didn't work. I also tried the falafel pita with tzatziki and it was delicious. The tzatziki was freshly made and had good garlicky flavor. It is a solid place just probably not a 5 star place for me. 3.5 stars all the way! read more

Place is BYOB, so liquor store is one the same block. Food, not much to say but just amazing. So fresh, beautifully served and simply mouth watering dishes. On weekends they have lots of specials. We came to this friendly authentic greek restaurant on a Saturday evening, place was packed, there was a short line. No wonder, they have amazing food. I had a chicken soup, was really nice. I was in the mood for Greek/ Mediterranean food and found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out with a girlfriend. Really happy with my choice. It was delicious. I had the grilled octopus, a side Greek salad, and a grilled chicken skewer. The octopus was tender the chicken was perfectly cooked and the salad was good as well. My friend enjoyed her meal and we agreed we would definitely be back. The only thing that made us laugh the entire time, was the fact that they have so many typos on their menu, they should really look into getting that edited. We shared a delicious Greek salad which was more than enough for two people. (Although it listed dolmas on the menu and we didn't get any) the gigante beans were honestly the beat we ever had . If you're looking for delicious homemade tasting food this is the place. As other reviews stated, I was greeted immediately after walking through the door and given a table. I asked about their vegan options and the hostess knew about everything vegan available on the menu. I ordered the stuffed tomatoes. They were delicious, filling, and not overly spiced. They came with a delicious salad and a stuffed grape leaf. I will definitely be returning. My only suggestion is someone should go around and fill waters more often, but the waiter apologized for taking awhile which I appreciated that! read more

Best Greek salad I've ever had!!! My office orders lunch from here practically every week and everything we've had has been super tasty.

I'm so upset.. Sofia's is our favorite Greek restaurant in the area.. Tonight we put our name on the wait list at 7:30PM, we were told the wait would be "30-35 minutes" .. an hour later at 8:35 I called up just to inquire how much longer. The woman told me they were waiting for a few more tables but "soon". After waiting an hour when being told "30-35 minutes" we waited another 20 after the second phone call and STILL NOTHING. Finally at 8:50PM we left and NEVER received a phone call.. not even now as I type this at 9:30PM. Meanwhile, they close at 10PM. Sadly this makes me feel a way about this place now. No phone call? What if we continued to wait up until 9:30PM? We even drove by the front when we decided to leave and there was no one waiting.. very unprofessional. read more

Originally, we were a party of 6, but then we had unexpected guests arrive from out of town and Sophia's was kind enough to accommodate them without much notice! The service was impeccable! The food was sensational, very authentic and cooked to perfection. We were lucky enough to be served by Tony who was very attentive without being hovering. Food remains exceptional, but service has taken an extreme nose dive. Last three times we frequented Sofia's servers seemed disassociated, cold, lethargic, and messed up our orders. It's like if you're not friends with the owners or staff you're not part of the cool kids club. One dine in experience our section's waiter was no where to be found, so another waitress seated us. Only time we saw him was to take our orders and when he flew on by dropping off and picking up plates. Forgot his name, but he is the muscular tattooed guy. Most recent experience my wife orders take out; two bifteki pitas. Woman on the phone asks if we want platters, my wife says no we want the sandwiches. My wife asks for no onions and put the sauce on the side as we won't be eating the sandwiches right away. My wife asked for hummus on the side, and I wanted tzatziki on the side. Both sandwiches came with tzatziki on them, and with extra sauce on the side. My wife scraped off the sauce and tried to make due, but disposed of half the fries and tomatoes since the counter woman can't understand how to take an order. There are too many Greek restaurants in Bergen county to focus on one. When something that doesn't sit well happens, just keep it moving to the next one. Sparta isn't too far. read more
