Came here on grand opening day and what a fun and chic vibe to come and dine for date night or to grab drinks for a girls night out! The decor really compliments the restaurant well and the area since it's nestled in the heart of Design District. We had a good time and the truffle pizza is to die for!! We couldn't stop eating it. The drinks were also refreshing and tasty! It's a must try! read more

place is beautiful. hostess super nice gave us the cutest seat. place was warm. they told us the AC was partially out. Then we ordered a bottle of Prosecco. and it came warm. we asked for any other Prosecco that was cold and were told that they didnt have any. in addition the manager stated that in the wine industry they keep the prosecos like that but offered to add salt to the ice in order to cool the prosecco faster. we just got up and left. not a good experience. read more

Package pasta drowning in pre-made fat sauce, Fritto Misto also with an awful egg-smelling sauce on top and around it. Tiramisu looks like a sad version of an Oreo with on top and inedible flower. More like an American restaurant serving Italian style-ish dishes. Undercooked pizza bottoms... Coming from Italian origin, we will look a bit further next time for a real Italian dish.

I was unimpressed with Sofia. The portions were petite and the food was overall lacking in many areas. I had the ravioli di ricotta e noci. The walnuts have no place on this dish! The pasta was cooked well, however. Someone at our table ordered the prosciutto and it was barely enough for our small group so we ordered a second. Honestly, as someone of Italian background, this is not Italian, Italian fusion or my idea of anything remotely Italian, from my meal experience. The menu just feels disjointed and leaves a bit to be desired. It is, however, a nice place which is why assume it attracts a lot of people. Restaurants have become all about taking aesthetically pleasing pictures rather than good food. The ambiance and decor were well-thought-out, but again wish I could say the same thing about the menu...The service was fine and our server pleasant. Food did take a bit. For those looking to visit, make sure you visit their web site and view the menu first. Also, there is a 20% service charge which I think is expected in some high-end restaurants across Miami. My only issue with the 20% is if the service isn't great, the server still makes 20%. I may consider giving Sofia a second chance, but for now I will just wait and see. read more

Service was incredible, our waiter Sal was absolutely fabulous. perfectly timed our courses, which were all delicious. Fun upbeat ambiance, perfect for a girls night or occasion to celebrate. read more

Food is okay, service needs major help. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. We waited 35 minutes before our waiter made it to our table to take our drinks order. The ambiance is very nice, we loved it, it was actually our favorite part. There was a dj playing music which we thought was a nice touch. To find our waiter again to order our apps and meal was another mission. The waiter seemed overwhelmed and rushed. The appetizers arrived quickly and were actually better than the entrees. The pesto pasta was underwhelming and the spicy rigatoni had way too much tomato sauce. It does have a nice spice factor which I loved. We asked for the dessert menu but honestly nothing really caught our eye so we skipped dessert. Honestly I would come back for a drink at the bar but I think there are better Italian restaurants if you're looking for good food. read more

This is one of those places where you only come once. And only because you thought it was going to be good but turns out to be terrible. The pasta was alright, but definitely not 36 dollars alright. And the burger was just a burger, nothing special. Service was great and ambiance was great. It did get a little too hot for me though. Just get drinks. They're also not worth it read more

I recommend checking out Sophia in the Miami Design district. ambience in the restaurant was perfect. Mishko, who assisted us along with all of the other staff were beyond attentive. The food was amazing The drinks were perfect. I enjoy variations of some Mixology cocktails and they had no problems switching things up to what I liked. we were celebrating our anniversary and they made it even more special by sending out dessert. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Miami. read more

I thought because Sofia is in the Design District and it's a beautiful restaurant that it would be style over substance and that the food would just be an afterthought. Nope, not at all because everything I tried was surprisingly good. A Tuna Tartare appetizer looked different than most versions and was truly excellent with a nice citrus and basil taste. A Cacio y Pepe with Truffles had more depth and was lighter than most versions and wasn't just a one note heavy cheese dish. A pasta with lobster dish (Campenelle con Aragosta) was also good and was pretty straightforward with nicely cooked pasta BUT there was very very little lobster and at $44 I didn't expect a whole lobster but I expected some lobster and this was just stingy. A chocolate dessert (torta al Cioccolato) didn't look very interesting but was addictive with excellent ice cream and a good crunchy praline base. We chose to eat outdoors because we are more informal and it was a good choice and I don't think there is a better location for people watching in Miami. Also the Geodesic Dome and sculptures serve as a nice backdrop. Sofia is a great addition to The Design District. read more

Great location in the heart of the Design District. Aside from that it was a total disappointment. Overall, average and overpriced Italian cuisine. The wine list did not have anything priced in the moderate range, with everything starting above the $200 range for a bottle. Since gratuity is already included, there is no incentive for good quality service, and therefore not surprisingly slow and dismal. If they were trying to reach and compete at the level of Il Gabbiano (Italian cuisine in Downtown Miami with exceptional views of the Bay), they have failed miserably in quality, service and ambiance. There are plenty of other options in the Design District where you will not be disappointed such as Michael's Genuine, just around the corner. read more

I imagine this place would normally be hopping. But we went on Wed when Hurricane Milton was slated to hit the west side of the state. We had several appetizers and they were all pretty tasty. I especially liked the scallops and the carpaccio. For my main entree, I had the branzino. It was probably the best one I've ever had. We had a selection of dessert. Normally I'm a tiramisu person but they make it with ice cream. It tasted great but I was looking for that creamy mascarpone. Overall, it was tasty if a bit spendy. Probably a special occasion kind of place. read more

Was extremely pleased with my experience at Sofias. I chose to celebrate my birthday here with a few friends. After an unsatisfactory experience at another establishment, I was extremely discouraged from celebrating. However, my experience at Sofia completely made up for it. Fantastic restaurant it has a great atmosphere excellent food & great service. I could eat there all the time. A must !!!

My boyfriend & I were shopping around after a meal in design district - we will usually grab coffee somewhere along the way so we decided to stop here for drinks. As I was speaking to hostess to ask for a table she stopped me & said this is an upscale restaurant insinuating that my bf and I did not belong.... & she also suggested he use the public restroom when indeed she didn't even let me finish asking for a table. She said that not knowing the type of people we were,We are upscale & avid spenders. Unacceptable.... This restaurant was empty. Waiter didn't even ask us how everything is. Sofia needs a lesson in customer service. read more

First, the good stuff: the design and ambiance of the restaurant is top notch. It has mega potential to be a Grand go to destination. Now, for the bad stuff: we were there for brunch and the food was awful. So awful that I left hoping that their chef was out and they had to fill in the kitchen w someone else. The food was so salty it was inedible. I commented to the manager. She said she would tell the kitchen- that's it. read more

Came here for dinner and it was disappointing. The hospitality group INK is similar to Groot where they open very mediocre restaraunts and similar to Nurset by Salt bae it's a giant money scam for rich kids or people with expendable money to buy food that they believe tastes better just because it's expensive. A lot of the dishes were overpriced and as mentioned no rum cocktails (not for me but my boyfriend) it's disappointing they don't partner with Miami brands like Club rum or other places to fulfill where they lack. They seem to put a lot of lean on luxury but it's tucked away in a little nook right below a food court with better options. Again like in true fashion with Mia, Dalia and Amal (all of which Ink operates) the service was shitty because I'm assuming they don't pay enough or the first round of servers quit by being treated badly and this was the B team they scraped together who would work for little recognition or pay. They are just bad, you're rushed from your table after paying and you're made to feel like this palce is busier than it is. It's a shame and a waste of money to try and make something this "lux" in a "lux place" when it's just overpriced nonsense. I would have rather seen a restaraunt like Bombay darbar or a little lux Cuban place come here and turn some heads . But overpriced Italian food that you could make at home ? Nah. read more

Terrible service. The waiters were un attentive, we had to keep asking for water. Seemed like we were being rushed to get out of there. One of the waiters spilled water all over the take table including me at the end of service... just an overall horrible experience. Over priced and the food is subpar at best. 3/10 would not come back and wouldn't recommend this place in 200 centuries. read more

We were really excited to try Sofia's and passed on Swan and Contessa to do so. I regret doing so. The decor inside was gorgeous. Temperature was fantastic and hostesses were friendly. We were seated right away. Unfortunately our server was VERY kind but very soft spoken. We considered the citrus salad and he let us know it had no greens but was sliced citrus - which was SO GOOD to know, we wanted greens if we were having a salad. Our poor waiter was doing his best but the kitchen moved insanely slow, and the runner delivered the food need US to tell him the food on our tray was ours. He then proceeded the wrong order to us - someone else. We ordered the pizza, burger and french toast. All were good but even for Miami levels, this was very very small. What was supposed to be a stop for lunch in the Design District was an all day affair. We even had to wave our poor server down for the check in between playing damage control for the rest of the staff. I would be shocked if Sofia sees its second anniversary. read more
