So Cal Arborists removed a large, invasive-rooted sweetgum tree in my courtyard. It was between my house and a low wrought iron fence, and my garden. They did a fabulous job! Didn't hit the roof or the fence, or damage my shrubs. They removed the roots (some were as large as the trunk!) and ground down the stump. Raked all of the debris, including sweetgum balls that bounced all over the yard, and swept up everything. Left me with a tidy layer of sawdust mulch spread neatly and evenly across the area. The crew were respectful and hard workers. The entire job was finished in about 2-1/2 hours! They are licensed and insured. I was pretty anxious about the job and the cost, but watching them work safely and efficiently was fascinating, and my confidence grew very quickly. Debated about having them only remove the tree, but it turned out that having them remove the roots was worth the price! I'm really glad I did that! Obdulio is the one who started the company about 35 years ago, and he semi-retired last year. His son Alex is running the company, while Obdulio does estimates. Roberto climbed the tree and did the cutting, while the other guys eased the limbs to the ground, cleaned up and processed what he cut down. They were a great team. read more

The price and the mega work to get this job done was good. If any tree trimmer misses an appointment, I'm sure they're having a hard time finding guys to bust their humps on your yard. We had them remove a large tree near our cement patio; grind down the remaining stump; grind down the cement corner that the tree lifted; and trim a huge White birch over our pool. My Birds of Paradise were way overgrown and I needed them cut back and a bunch just plain cut off and SCA put a business card on my door. Our big Sycamore tree in our backyard was really overgrown and we had a palm tree that had seen better days. We called and got someone to come out for an estimate same day and said they were available to cut a few days later. They were right on time when they said they would be and were finished in under 2 hours including clean up of all the branches. They even used a leaf blower to get all the little dropping and all the wood chips from the wood chipper off the street. I am super satisfied with their work. read more

We had some trees cut down by this company. After the job was completed, there were food containers and trash left in the backyard from food that was eaten by the workers, along with plastic bags. Ok, not that big of a deal, we cleaned up the trash after them. There were large items in the backyard that they moved and said they were going to put back in their place and they were not put back as specified. We had to move everything back ourselves. There was trash left in the front yard as well. We had to clean up after them in the front yard as well. A couple of days later, we noticed that several of our shovels and tools had gone missing from our property. We called the company a few times to have our items returned back to us and after a couple of weeks, they came back to return all of our tools back to us. We also noticed that 3 of the sprinklers had been damaged by the workers, along with a long pipe that is connected to one of the sprinklers. When we called to inform them of the damage that had been done, they stated that "whatever was damaged during the process was not their responsibility", but to send them a picture of the damaged pipe. A picture was submitted as requested and additional calls were placed to this company without any response back again. Very disappointed with the lack of professionalism from this company, among other things mentioned above. read more

We had a 40 foot high pepper tree right next to our utility pole, so our and our neighbors' phone, power, and cable tv were all tangled in the tree. Alex and his crew cut down the tree and removed the stump in ONE DAY, with no damage at all to any connections. Wow!! And a good price too, way less than we expected. They came out and seemed very nice during the quote - they even promised to not get anything in our pool without me asking that. However what happened was completely different. We were left with broken sprinklers, a poor job planting the plants we provided, a completely messy yard, branches in our neighbor's yard. They did not do what they said they would do, We had to take 2 Home Depot buckets of debris out of our fishpond, and spent four hours cleaning out our pool which now we have to pay for a professional cleaning of our filter, and will probably have to throw out our pool cover. They even got debris all over our pool equipment area and our brand new $3500 heater. One of the things we paid for was to dig out a stump and they cut it at dirt level. I have called four times and written two emails and have heard nothing back. The only good thing about this is I had them quote two houses and only had them do one and obviously will not have them do the other and will never hire them again. We were excited when they first showed up because there were so many people and we really thought they'd be done fairly quickly but they worked until it got dark because they basically left a couple people here to work - who knows maybe they pick up day laborers and drop them off at your house - not sure. Couldn't really see the extent of the mess when they were done because when they left it was dark. read more

So Cal Arborists did a great job removing our trees in the front and back yard. Although we loved the shade and greenery our trees provided, we wanted to prevent any potential root problems and cut down on maintenance in the future. Special thanks to Alex, Andy, Oscar, and Sal for all your hard work! They did a wonderful job cutting and hauling the trees away, ensuring the roots were removed, and trimming our fruit trees and bushes (pictures attached). Alex even spent some extra time repairing one of our broken sprinklers! What kind of business schedule an appointment but never show up. Not even a call to tell their customers. Not once but three times this had happen to me with these guys and I have the text to prove it too. Also the girl who took the appointment never once explain why there was a no show and just ignore you straight out. It took me 2 appointments for the guy to come out and gave me an estimate and took another 3 for the guy to never come back and do it. Good luck with these guys. If they show up anyway. read more

I contacted them via their website once and by phone at least twice asking for current proof of insurance. I have not received anything. I cannot recommend them based on my experience. read more

No show, no call for an appointment that I scheduled the day before. What's odd is this guy has basically stalked me for about a year to trim our trees. He would stop by and drop off his card about once a month. Very nice guy and reasonably priced, but once I finally schedule something, they don't even bother to call and say they will be late?! Unacceptable. I called the number on the card and the woman that answered the phone said she would find out where they were and then never returned my call. I called back a couple more times and she wouldn't answer the phone. Don't do business with these guys unless your time is not important to you. read more

I hired SCA to remove 28 Italian cypress trees from my mother in laws backyard. This company was extremely careful at all times. They had to work around a large pool and only about three feet from the wall to the pool edge. Also, there were electrical wires. They covered the pool so very little dirt went into it. They spoke to the surrounding neighbors to get permission to enter their yards to clean up. This was a huge job and they hauled away everything and asked us not to pay them until we were happy with the outcome. We got the referral for Socal Arborists from my brother-in-law who was very happy with the work they did. So we decided to use them too and we're so glad we did! 3 very tall palms, 3 very large pine trees plus 7 additional trees were all expertly trimmed/pruned. In addition, everything was cleaned up before they left. Two days before Socal Arborists were scheduled to come, I was having second thoughts about having 2 of the pines removed and wanted to get an idea of what we could have them plant after the trees were gone. So Alex and Obdulio came out to talk with me. After looking at the trees, they explained that both of the trees looked healthy and after being trimmed they wouldn't be top heavy. Then we wouldn't have to worry about the pines falling down in windy weather. I was so happy that we didn't need to have the beautiful trees removed. And I appreciated that they cared more about the trees than the extra money they would have made by cutting them down!
