Had a wonderful service on Monday. Relaxing, techs are friendly and the drinks are a must have!

I was very disappointed with my $68 pedicure! Basically I got my toe nails trimmed and painted. The girl was very nice but inexperienced. I expected more for $68. I won't go back. read more

I wanted to try a new place for my pedicure but I was very disappointed. The front desk girl had me pick out a color and then sat me down in one of the sofa chairs. Very worn down and dirty. Not your traditional massage chair with its basin. The girl came out with a large bowl of warm water and marbles at the bottom of it. Very unusual for me. She didnt introduce herself and didn't make any conversation. The techs chair has the built in foot rest. It kept sliding in and causing me to stretch my legs further. It was uncomfortable and tiring. I wasn't able to fully relax. Now, with the actual pedicure I was disappointed with as well. Usually, the nail tech goes in and cleans the nail if there is anything under over grown nail. This one didn't go in with the stick. I asked for my feet to be scrubbed for them to be soft but i came out with the same rough feet. As she was applying the polish, she wasnt cleaning up the edges. Since they were gell, i was expecting my toes to be cured with the purple light but she put my sandals on and applied the polish. No time was given for them to dry. Literally, right after she finished with the last toe she picked up her supplies and left. I wasnt given direction or instrcted to go to the front desk and would be taken care of. I had to ask her. When I was paying, they receptionist couldnt get the system to work. It took 5 minutes to pay due to thier outdated system. In my car, i noticed my polish was already messed up and smeared. And uneven coats. Never going back. read more

This business is very caring, compassionate, and focused on the comfort of their customers. I brought my two little grandkids that just lost their Mom to breast cancer two weeks ago. They did such a wonderful job with them from being at their eye level, bringing hot cocoa with whipped cream, and helping them with self care. I could not have asked for more. My mail professional was awesome and my gel mani was amazing. You should try to visit for this one of a kind experience by an organization dedicated to customers as the primary focus. PS I had a mango mimosa that was to die. read more

So decided to try this place, very minimum on what you get for there 65.00 pedicure/ manicure. I had to come home and take polish off my skin around my toes. She cut into my cuticle have blood on my nail and it's super tender. As for my manicure she wrapped my husbands hand I never got my hands wrapped or massaged. Usually tip 20 for both manicure and pedicure but only tipped 10.00 and probably should have tipped nothing. Very, very disappointed. Wanted to make this place a once a month trip, but my husband was disappointed too. So it will be the first and last time we go there. Update ... can't put shoe on this morning. She Fed up my toe! read more

My feet are literally still in pain four hours after my pedicure is finished. The technician scrubbed so intensely that she scratched both of my ankles. When I got two huge red spots right away she said it was a reaction to the chemicals in the product. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but I have scratch marks from the sponge corners... that is not from the product. My feet were both stinging for the second half of my pedicure and they still sting. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because my nails look pretty nice. I am pretty disappointed with this treatment to say the least. read more

So tried this place out with the girls since I'm pregnant and the usual spa day was out. I heard it took a normal pedi and added to it and the price is for the pampering "experience" The ladies doing the pedicure were amazing. Super sweet, professional, and did a good job. Had they been the only encounter I'd give this place 5 stars. Drinks were cute, pink everywhere was cute. And I mean I LOVED these mani/pedi ladies they were absolutely incredible. But the lady at the front counter was rude and rolling her eyes the second we, walked in. She had a horrible attitude and really just disgusted look on her face. (So I can see why when you're paying for a pampering that takes a lot off the experience). We then have an amazing time and forget how terrible she was but have to go check out and pay with her. I grab a hat with a $5 price tag thought it was cute, she's again rolling her eyes and super rude at check out. Then takes the hat, rips the price tag off and says "nope, it's $15 so your total is $16" then gives a fake smile with an extra eye roll. So I paid the hat price and my bill with a 20% tip for the ladies, but if I'm paying for a "pampering experience" I'm not going where a staff member is rude. All in all Soak is really cute and fun idea (I thought I'd be a regular after my nail lady was so great) but I can see where the bad reviews come from because that front desk lady, just made it bad and feel kind of like a waste. She totally took the good parts away and left the last part you remember as unprofessuon read more

Monica is the best! so sweet and professional. She takes pride in her job and truly cares about her customers! Thanks Monica!

When you walk into soak, you immediately feel like you're having a ladies night (or afternoon). Comfy welcoming chairs, sequined pillows, crystal chandeliers and pretty nail polish galore! It's very inviting and different from any nail salon I've been to before. I had a gift card so I decided to indulge with a girlfriend. We both went for the seasonal pedicure which came with all the bells and whistles of a spa pedicure - scrub, mask, massage, and a complimentary drink. There are definitely some great things about soak including the fun atmosphere, cocktails, and nice organic products that they use. However, there are a few things that I didn't enjoy - the price being the first - eek! At $80 for a spa pedicure (with an extra 10 mins massage) I'd rather enjoy a day at the atlantis and the amenities that the spa has to offer. The other thing that I couldn't get over was the chair - while it makes for a cool atmosphere, it's somewhat uncomfortable to have to keep lifting your legs so high (unlike most nail salons with chairs on elevated platforms) and the nail techs were clearly uncomfortable (stretching breaks needed) having to continuously hunch over to do their jobs. Overall, my experience was nice. I had a fun ladies date, enjoyed a special drink and a nice spa pedicure. I likely won't return however because the price is just too high for what I received. And honestly, the polish job was slightly sloppy... especially for $80! read more

I called cause I won a gift card on a local radio station. I was excited to use the gift card due to so much personally has happened this year but unfortunately live further out so have limited availability due to this and my jobs. The receptionist was nice but was like himhawing around what I wanted as a new client and was short when I gave her my availability. I explained to her I was new. They offer nail extentions but only have a limited amount of people who do them she said the south store had more people that do them and only one person who does them at the second street store. With the holidays, I'm only off a certain timing and unfortunately, they could not accommodate this. Unfortunately, I'm off late enough in the evening from my job that is right around the corner from the 2nd st location that we would not be able to do both services that I was looking at having done. When I did mention that it looks like I'll have to give away the gift card to someone else she was like yeah I guess so so sorry that we couldn't do more for you and had a little bit of an attitude. I know I was trying to book last minute, but even tried to offer another option for after work and both of them would not work. The next availability would be on a Sunday in January which unfortunately I have to go back to my second job by then. For the prices that are here and some of the reviews I now understand some of the frustration. read more

In preparation for a trip to warmer weather, I scheduled a mani/pedi at Soak only because I received a gift card. I was apprehensive, as I have been disappointed with services in the past. My appointment was at 10, the technician didn't start my service until 10:15. She rushed through my service, caught up with the gal next to me who started her service at 10. The quality of cuticle attention, massage, scrub and polish was appalling. Please see pictures showing the lack of attention to any amount of detail. Now I will have to scramble to try and find someone else to take off the gel and redo it before leaving town in 2 days. AND pay for the services again! I always try to support local, but my Mom receives much better quality at Walmart. read more

A couple of years ago I treated my mom and sister to pedicures here. We had a great time and I cherish the memory as my mom has since passed. However, a few weeks after my pedicure, I took the polish off and discovered I had toenail fungus! Yikes! It was an awful ordeal to say the least. I have never experienced this before or since. I'm guessing they skipped a step with me since I asked to forgo the massage part. I tried everything for the next year to deal with this disgusting problem, except oral medication, that came with great risk. I was able to recover after a year of going without polish, the damaged nails eventually grew out. Thankfully. So last week my husband gave me a gift card for our anniversary to of all places...Soak! He knew from my reaction I was disappointed. I told him it was the salon that gave me the fungus and I just can't ever go there again. He tried returning it the next day. They said to come back later and speak to the manager, which he did. He even tried the other location explaining the situation. They said sorry, but no returns! He said but, I'm not the user of the gift card, I'm the purchaser and it's only been ONE DAY. Nope. They told him they also sell handbags, lol. So, he's out $118 and I'm out an anniversary gift. I gave the card to a friend, I hope she enjoys it. read more

Atmosphere was decent. They soak your feet in a bowl with lukewarm water not much of a massage really you're paying $100 for a nail polish change. Drinks are not free. They charge minimum $16 not worth the money. read more

The 2 things I liked about Soak were the fact that they autoclaved and the techs and receptionists were friendly. Beyond that I would not recommend this place. They charge WAY too much and they don't give the techs enough time so the service feels rushed (you might as well go to Walmart if you want to get your nails done in a hurried manner, plus at Walmart you would pay half what Soak charges). They do serve drinks, but so do a lot of other salons in town. The ONLY reason I kept going back to Soak was because I loved my nail tech, now that she no longer works there I won't be back. read more

Finally decided to give it a try (because my friend received a gift card from here and really wanted to go) even though I have stayed away knowing this is an expensive place and have heard they don't do the best job for the price. The chairs and ambience was pretty cute..I really enjoyed putting my feet in the bowl with the little marbles inside. Felt very therapeutic for me. The lady was very kind and gentle. The pimosa (pineapple mimosa) was a great drink. Wish they did gel polish but they don't and my nails don't last very long unless I do gel. Otherwise I would be coming here again! read more

*UPDATE* the owner of SOAK contacted me the next day after my original YELP post and has since redone my nails and found that the same issue occurred on the second round. They are looking into the situation and believe it's an issue with polish shrinkage, that will be fixed. I've updated my review to three stars as working with the owner has been nothing but pleasing and very accommodating. Original review: The polish I received in my standard mani was an absolute wreck. I'm not entirely sure how this nail salon is still in business, see photos. Maybe their other services turn out better results but I'm pretty sure painting nails is where the service should excel, right? After all it is a nail salon. read more

This was not my first time here, and I did not have particularly high expectations yet I was still incredibly disappointed. For a business that prides itself on high quality soaks and services I at least expected some level of quality and pride in the service. I booked the "tailored" pedicure for yesterday. They called and cancelled an hour before my original appointment, which I understand, but the did not offer me an upgrade or anything for the inconvenience. I finally got my appointment today, and I felt rushed and not at all relaxed. I was not asked about what I would like to focus on for my pedicure. The nail service itself was fine, but I still have a fair amount of dead skin on my feet, and the whole service was very perfunctory. The service was scheduled for an hour, and I was out and done in less than 50 minutes, 10 of which were spent under hot towels without the tech. So maybe 40 minutes of actual time with the tech? Certainly not "tailored" The massage was nice enough, but I certainly would have enjoyed a significantly longer massage for a "luxury" service such as this. At the end I was rushed on out with wet nails. I am hard pressed to see how this service was worth 60 dollars plus tip. Completely unacceptable and I could have done the same for myself or gone elsewhere for half the cost for a mediocre service. read more

This was my second time in this Soak location. We had a party of 4, all for pedicures. 2 of us were at 5pm and the other 2 were at 6pm which worked because we were able to have more time to socialize. I like coming because they bring out bowls of hot water with marbles in the bottom to soak your feet in, but with that being said, if it's too hot they don't have a tap right there to cool it down and usually it is a little on the hot side for me so cooling the water is almost a pain for the tech because they have to bring out cold water from another room. Just a waste of time in my opinion. The chairs are leather or fake leather but whatever the material it is uncomfortable and I'm assuming whatever they are using to wipe the chairs down it makes the material a little tacky/sticky feeling. They didn't feel clean to me with they way they felt. Good news- they serve wine! (A little on the pricey side). Also available are some mixed drinks prepared in house. The pedicure was great though and the technician I had (Jeanea, I don't know if it's spelled right) was awesome, she was great and very detail oriented even though it was just one color she made sure to take her time and make it even. read more

I scheduled an appointment at Soak for a pedicure. The day of my appointment I got a call that my aunt was in the hospital and in my rush to get to the hospital I totally forgot about my appointment. When I finally left the hospital I had 2 voicemails about missing appointment. I felt terrible that I didn't cancel and called the salon to apologize. The receptionist was very kind and understanding and offered me a refund. She said her supervisor would call me in the next day or 2 to let me know it had been processed. A week later I still hadn't received a call or refund. I called to see if they were still going to process the refund and I was again told the supervisor would call me. It's been 3 weeks and no call or refund. Either way it would have been nice to at least get a call. read more

In order to book an appointment, you have to call almost a month in advance to get the date and times that you prefer. They book up fast because they are that good for the price. My husband and I visited the South Reno location. When you walk in it is VERY feminine which you have to expect, but the comfortable chairs and the relaxed atmosphere made my husband feel comfortable being there for his first pedicure. Also, the fact that they serve cocktails during your service is wonderful. The chairs need a little TLC since they look worn out, but you do notice how clean the place is and the fact that everyone wears gloves which I appreciate. Our pedicures started at the same time which was great and the ladies we had were wonderful. Rad Nae was very thorough and took her time. I feel the young woman doing my husbands' pedicure was kind of rushing through it. Rad Nae was kind and made us both feel comfortable. They both made our feet look great and we had a relaxing experience. read more

I don't often post negatively; went in for a pedicure and my 4 year old daughter for both pedi/mani. The hostess said it would be about a ten minute wait after appointment time. I figured no big deal I get we all run a little behind here and there! We waited and my nail tech (who was phenomenal) saw me within 15 minutes past the appointment time. No big! My daughter was still waiting. They gave her the mock tail and she was being patient. 40 minutes go by and still no nail tech to attend to her. One of the employees was kind enough to contact the owner to discount our rate and Comp any additional beverages. Here's my problem; the audacity to ask if I can reschedule my daughter because she's waited so long was a poor judgement call. I told the the lady I appreciate the accommodation and effort to try and make the waiting time worth it but please...do not tell a 4 year old little girl, who's been looking forward to getting her nails painted with lots of anticipation that the wait is too long therefore she cannot be seen. Just to top it, her feet were already in a bowl of water which MY nail tech did. What, I'm supposed to let her feet soak in water for 40 minutes and tell her no she can't get her toes done and put her sandals back on? She's 4, she wouldn't understand. She heard the whole conversation. After 1 hour of waiting, my service was complete and they just started on my daughter. The nail tech was very withdrawn from conversation and took 1.5 hours on tiny nails and toes which ended up smudging. After we were done for being the nearly 3 hours, I noticed within the end of our time that two other little girls got the same package and were accommodated promptly. I told the hostess as I was paying; "you guys didn't bother to reschedule them?" We felt the treatment was poor for her and the experience was bad. So bad she fell asleep. She sat in that dam chair for 3 hours to put it in a nutshell with the staff asking if we could reschedule. As an adult, I would reschedule, but your taking the magic out of a little girls experience. That's where I had the problem. Thank you Soak for making the best accommodations to make it easier but never tell a little girl she can't be seen because your team is lacking in time management. read more

I was taken here by a friend for a pedicure back in December, which was really sweet. She had the special coupon for buy one get one free and chose to take me! I hear a lot of good things about Soak from customers who visit Whispering Vine, so I was excited. Walking in I was surprised that the nail technicians looked to be very young white girls (no offense to anyone). Okay, that's alright, but sometimes the white girls don't do as good of a job as other nail technicians who aren't afraid to get down and dirty with my running, beat up feet. I also noticed the chairs were not massage chairs, they were big white leather chairs. I was slightly disappointed because all day I was looking forward to an electric back rubbing machine. Next came the giant bowl of water with glass stones placed in the bottom....ugh another frowny face. I don't like my soaking water to get cold and that's exactly what this water did. Sure, it's more sanitary, but I'm not a fan. We were immediately offered a complimentary cocktail from their drink menu. Rumor is their signature 'Pink Drink' is the most popular but I wanted something different so I chose the pineapple something or other and it was as simple as canned pineapple juice poured into a martini glass. Meh. Since the drink was included in the promotion I don't think she put any booze in it, not like I needed it nor did I want the booze, it just would have been nice. It was strange how my technician asked if I wanted to smell the scents she was about to pour in the water bowl, I gladly said yes while still feeling confused. In the end, my experience here at Soak was nice, long, and simple. Both of the girls were really sweet and it was nice that we could engage in an actual conversation. The calf and foot scrub was my favorite part, but never long enough. One of my favorite things about getting pedicures is how they dig out junk and clean up your feet skin, heels, toes, etc. My last two pedicures seemed to be nothing other than getting my toenail polish removed then painted. I can do that at home. Yes, my polish is still on a month later, but polish always seems to stay on my toenails for months until they grow out. For me, I think that Soak is overpriced for what it is. It's located in an upscale shopping center in South Reno, while I love that area and everything there, it's just not for me. I'll stick to what I know and pay just under $30 for a great, relaxing, top notch pedicure at nearby locations. read more

UPDATED REVIEW - I've already given SOAK 5 Stars in a previous review. I really genuinely love the idea of this salon and both locations are great. I have to say if you want to be pampered this is probably the best place to go. Unlimited cocktails (~$7 each) Try the pink drink. Lots of options and very posh boutique style salon. They have a seasonal/monthly special pedicure and manicure they do where they have a special scented candle, a special mask or scrub, includes a free cocktail or nail art. (Mani/Pedi Special $100) Now with that being said, I've gone here numerous times. Michaela is my favorite. She did an awesome marble design on my toes and completely rocks my manicure. Last time I went, I had someone else (Lovely lady, lots to talk about) . I paid for the $100 seasonal mani/pedi - I normally just do the regular but I figured what they hey, splurge. My nails looked awesome!!! She did a glitter dip with the gel primer and didn't coat it to keep the sparkle and it looked crazy good! It only lasted about 4-5 days without the top coat before it started rubbing off. But it was amazing while it lasted! The most disappointing part about it - I never get a hand/arm massage when I come here for a mani unless it's Michaela. This last time she didn't do the hand mask either - maybe pressed for time? Pedi - great soak, leg mask, hot towels, lotion with about 2 or 3 minutes of light rubbing ( not really a massage). I asked for orange with white and blue chevron symbols which is literally just a "V" design on the big toe. It literally looked like a 5 year old drew on my toes, I asked her to fix it which just made it worse. She became frustrated so I just let it go. This was a Saturday and I called to ask to speak to the Manager , the next day, Sunday. I was told she was out and would call me back. I never got a call back. I haven't been back since - it's really expensive for service that isn't consistent. If I could guarantee I get what I pay for I would go back. A lot of the girls I know go here for pedis so I definitely would try again if they invited me, just a bad experience I suppose. read more

Is there really such a thing as a bad manicure? The answer is YES but not here! I have been visiting SOAK since I moved to Reno (almost 3 years ago) for my manicure/pedicures. I love the atmosphere here because I feel like I walked into Girly-Girl heaven....and what can I say I am a girly girl! I love the decor, the bling, and of course the cocktails! I mean i get wine and my nails done....heaven!! I never request a particular tech because I always have a great experience with whoever they put me with. The concept is cool to me because they have comfy chairs that you sink into instead of sitting at a chair and table. They put a pillow on your lap and bring the manicure to you! Pedicure is the same way, you sit and they bring a big bowl to do the service. I always feel relaxed at SOAK and never feel like I am being rushed....a big plus for me! They have seasonal scrubs...I cannot remember what I did this time but I do remember it felt wonderful and the scent was clean but now over-powering. I think out of all the of the different choices I love their Get Fresh service the best as it is super hydrating. My mani/pedi always looks great, they have a ton of color choices, and it always lasts for a few weeks (4 if I behave). I also like the fact that I can book on-line because usually when I decide I need a mani/pedi it is 2 am so I can get on their site and book in my jammies! I have been to both SOAK locations but I like the one in the South the best because it feels more comfy to me BUT they are both nice! read more

Eureka, I have found the best mani/pedi place in South Reno! You get what you pay for. Is it a little pricey? Maybe. All the ladies were very nice and friendly. It's very clean, and you can have a complimentary drink and/or choose from a cocktail list. You are not rushed at all. This incident happened over a week ago and I am still seething about it. Not only did I receive a terrible manicure, but the process in which the ordeal was handled by management was absolutely unacceptable. I came in for a regular Gel Fill Manicure - just like I have done every 2 weeks since I've moved to Reno 3 months ago. I always get french tip and I've had several different technicians at both this location and the one downtown -- although everyone has a different technique there has always been a standard among them and I have always left completely satisfied. This particular day, I had Cassie. As sweet and friendly as she is, she is a terrible technician. I had to correct her several times during the service to straighten the smile lines --which seemed to be very difficult for her to do. Usually the service takes about 1 hour and 15 min or 1.5 hours -- we were approaching that mark and she hadn't finished the other hand yet. I decided then and there I would have to come back and get them redone because I didn't have time to have her start over from scratch or have someone else do them. Upon check out I told the receptionist that I would like to make an appointment to have these redone. She looked at my nails and agreed that they were terrible. She then went into the back and spoke to management via phone (no one was on site that day) to which she told me that my next visit would be complementary and I was given a $5 gift card for my inconvenience. I said to her...that sounds fine...but I would rather have this session be comped and I would happily pay for my re-do with someone that I've had before (Clarissa - who is fabulous). She said they couldn't do that (for whatever reason I never fully understood) and so I paid for my awful service and came back 2 days later to have them redone. I was also told that the manager would call me and speak to me directly about this matter - who never called. When I was leaving after my second appointment I was stopped and told that "I don't know who told you that this would be free, but it's against our policy. You're going to have to pay for this service as well." I said...you've got to be kidding me. In no other service industry, i.e. hair salon, car mechanic, restaurant, etc. would you be expected to pay for terrible service and then double pay when the service is done right. She explained that I would have had to re-do my nails the same day that I originally made the complaint. As I stated on that day, I didn't have time to devote another 1.5 hours to getting them done that day. I had to hire another sitter for my baby on a different day in order for me to come in -- and to make matters worse, I was going out of town that day to attend a family wedding for the weekend. Even after all that, the receptionist firmly stood her ground "I'm sorry - it's just our policy that we've always had." I refused to pay and left. I was called 6 hours later by someone (NOT MANAGEMENT) who said they would make an exception in this case and not charge me for the service. Gee...thanks.... Moral of the story...I am NEVER coming back here and I will strongly dissuade others from doing so. If you decide to take the gamble and go to this establishment, I hope that you have the luck of getting a great technician. But if you happen to get a mediocre one, you have been warned -- they will not try to make it right and they will force you to double pay for it. read more

I LOVE getting a pedicure. As a runner my feet are so ugly if I don't keep up with them. So today I thought I'd try a new spot. You can book online, which is nice and easy. But honestly, it was not my favorite pedicure. I booked a fresh soak pedicure on a Wednesday evening. The place was pretty empty, which is good for COVID time. But the pedicure itself was not so good. It took almost 1.5 hours, the massage was just her rubbing her hands up and down my legs and the filing was pretty painful. At $58 for a basic pedi I'd have expected more. The pink drink was delicious though. Just tiny, and also expensive. It was $10 and I finished it in 6 sips. Not worth it. All in all I'd say I was pretty disappointed in my trip in and I'll stick to my usual spot in the future. read more

I was very disappointed. I tried to FAX over a reservation form, I emailed it over and finally called when I got no response to my other forms of communication. I was going to make a reservation in February for April for a group of 5. When I told her the date, she said she only had 4 spots and one of us would have to wait until after. Does that make sense to anyone? Why would one wait for the other 4 and then the other 4 would have to wait for the one?! I thought maybe she would ask for my number to call me back because she would try to get another technician for that day, but nothing. Customer service and communication is not this places strong suit. With all the great reviews, I thought it was going to be a fun day. Now I have to find another salon. read more

Got my nails done at Soak, SC yesterday and I'm not impressed. I had hard as nails on, which is clear, and the technician commented "Its hard to see if the Polish is all gone because it blends in." She almost started my Mani when I still had Polish on my nails until I pointed it out. In the photo, you can see my pinky is already chipping, they look grown out, & lumpy. I also got a go-time pedicure and each foot massage lasted about 25 seconds. Definitely NOT worth the 80$ I paid.
