I was helped by Jane. She was so polite, she was so patient and I feel like she went above and beyond to make sure I was relaxed and pampered. About a month ago, I went to my old nail place in another part of Reno... who also had new owners and boy did it seem too hectic with new rude employees who I felt were shoving suggestive items in my face. She confirmed she could, sent me a link to purchase the necessary products myself, and scheduled the appointment. When I arrived, her attitude was completely hostile. More importantly, she waited until after she had fully grinded down my natural nails--leaving them vulnerable and compromised--to inform me that she "could not fulfill my expectations." Knowing I couldn't simply walk out with thinned, damaged prep work, she painted my nails with something I did not request and still expected full payment before pushing me out the door. Holding a client's natural nails hostage after starting prep work to force an unauthorized service is unacceptable business practice. I purchased supplies on her recommendation and gave a month's notice, only to be ambushed in the chair.

Everyone was super friendly, attentive, professional, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They took their time, made sure we were comfortable, and did an amazing job. This time, I specifically requested a female nail technician because the male technicians I've had here in the past have been extremely rough--one even cut me. A coworker of mine has had a similar experience here, so I made a point of requesting a woman, hoping I would have a better experience. Unfortunately, I was given Lily, and today's experience was just as bad. I have been getting pedicures for over 25 years. I know what a good pedicure feels like, and I know when someone is being unnecessarily rough. Throughout the entire service, Lily was constantly grabbing, repositioning, and forcefully moving my foot every 30 seconds. I have NEVER experienced anything like it during a pedicure. It felt like I was being manhandled rather than receiving a relaxing $65 service. I specifically asked for my toenails to be cut VERY short and for the ingrown areas to be carefully cleaned out. Instead, Lily CUT MY FOOT. Then, to top it all off, the gel polish application looks terrible. The polish is pushed all the way down into my cuticles, and the edges are jagged and sloppy. For $65, I expect someone to be able to apply gel polish cleanly and professionally without injuring me in the process. A pedicure is supposed to be relaxing--not an experience where you're being jerked around by your feet, cut, and then sent home with sloppy polish. I have genuinely tried to give this place multiple chances because the location is so convenient, but convenience is not worth paying $65 to be manhandled, injured, and leave unhappy with the quality of the work. My issue is specifically with the nail service I received from Nancy. Before we started, I explained that I wanted my cuticles cleaned. At other salons, and even at this location years ago when I used to go to Queenie, my cuticles were always cleaned before the acrylic was applied. This time, Nancy waited until after the acrylic was already on to clean them. I even asked during the service when she was going to do my cuticles and was told "not yet." Because the acrylic was already applied when she finally did them, I don't feel like they were cleaned properly, and she also ended up cutting the corner of my right thumb while doing them. I was also charged an additional $15 for the cuticle service, which was disappointing because they still don't look properly cleaned. I asked for a skinny square shape, but the finished nails look much wider than what I requested. The acrylic also feels extremely thin, and overall I am just not happy with how my nails look or feel. There was also very little communication during the appointment other than being asked what color I wanted. I understand every nail technician has a different personality, but when you're paying for a service, communication about what you want and whether you're happy with the shape and nails makes a big difference. I also want to make it very clear that the price was NOT the issue. I was told the price, agreed to it, paid $95, and still left Nancy a $10 tip. I am willing to pay for quality work and good service. I didn't complain while I was there because I didn't want to make a big deal or make anyone uncomfortable, but after looking at my nails, I honestly regret not speaking up. For $105 total, I expected to leave loving my nails, and unfortunately I didn't. I really wanted to like my experience because the remodeled salon is beautiful, but I was very disappointed with the quality of the service I received.
