I went next door to Unique Salons for a different appointment; After, I walked to my car when I noticed a new sign that said NEW OWNERS... I decided to do a walk-in. Everyone who approached me was so polite. I waited a few minutes before they pulled me back to the Pedí Chair. While I waited, they handed me a booklet to pick the color for my toes. I was helped by Jane. She was so polite, she was so patient and I feel like she went above and beyond to make sure I was relaxed and pampered. About a month ago, I went to my old nail place in another part of Reno... who also had new owners and boy did it seem too hectic with new rude employees who I felt were shoving suggestive items in my face. This NEW Top Coat Nail Bar gave me all the reasons why I should go back. Thank you Jane for all you did today; I was so relaxed I nearly dozed off in the quiet salon. read more

I've been hopping between nail spas for the past couple years [until this last year] due to lacking service; when service doesn't serve or show care about retaining patronage any longer, I get the hint, and shop around for a place that will - especially in a competitive market. Well, I can now say that Anna at Top Coat Nail Bar has won me over. She takes the time to listen to what I am asking for and delivers. It's now been about a year, and I'm still sticking around. I have had pretty good & consistent service over the past 12 months as an adult, but I do not recommend bringing your child for a mani-pedi to Top Coat Nail Bar! Our manicurist was rude and lacked any initiative to provide the services listed within the services menu for an 8 year old. read more

I came to the salon as a recommendation from my mother. Her and my sister have been going there for a couple years. The girl who did my nails was very sweet. She worked very hard for two hours. I made an appointment to get my nails fixed when I went to the appointment they offered me my money back and not to fix the problem. I received a receipt stating I should have a credit. this was on August 31. as of today, the credit has not hit my account and I have to go somewhere else to get my nails fixed. I have never felt so belittled and pushed aside. Why schedule an appointment if you are not going to fix the problem? read more

I've been a consistent customer at Top Coat Nail Bar for almost 5 years, and I can't recommend it enough! Lana is truly the best. She's quick but never rushes, always delivers beautiful, consistent designs, and her attention to detail is unmatched. On top of her talent, she's so funny and personable; appointments with her are always a highlight of my week. Lee and Cynthia are also amazing--friendly, skilled, and always make you feel welcome. Top Coat does such an amazing job every time, no matter which technician you get! My favorites are Lana and Cynthia, but everyone else is also great. I've tried out so many different designs, shapes, lengths, and no matter what I ask for, they do a fantastic job every single time. The new owners are very committed to ensure that the best parts from the former owners are kept. The quality of the work I've had done here is nothing short of incredible. It has a boutique vibe-very chic without making you feel as if you fell into Barbie's townhouse. I enjoy getting my mani/pedis here. I love how my nails look when I am done. I used to loveee coming here for my pedicures. Everytime in the past that I've had Tony or JJ my toes come out so perfect. I went in today and while they're always great at accommodating walk-ins, the tech I had today didn't do that good of a job :( several of my cuticles are flooded and the polish on several toes is lumpy and not as smooth and even as it should be. Not sure if it's worth it to try to get a refund or get the pedicure fixed since I've never had a pedicure this bad and I don't know what their policy in regards to this. Only reason I did 2 stars instead of 1 is because I've never had any issues with coming in for a walk-in and everyone's always been so kind and friendly here, but not sure if I'll come back for my next pedicure read more

Extremely overpriced. I had gel polish removed and the cost of removing gel polish from my fingers was more expensive than when I paid to have it put on. I will NEVER return here-I felt completely taken advantage of and on top of that the stylist cut my nails extremely short and I had to go home and re-file them because they were catching on things. Would not recommend this nail salon. read more

Another churn and burn nail salon that can't do more than simple nail designs and charge for EVERY single thing. Had decent experiences up until recently. The person that did my nails was very aggressive. Kept pulling my arm and aggressively hitting my hand to get my attention. Didn't ask my nail shape. I asked for the old nails to be taken off and was ignored. I asked again, the tech said they were already grinded off. Okay? The last time I went, I had broken a nail, and mid way through tells me they have to charge extra to add a tip. At this point you're just paying for them to do whatever they want and tipping to be courteous. Not for actual good service. On to the next salon. I really want to like this salon but I just can't get on board with paying for mediocre service and sour customer service. Then I'm just seeing some of the more intricate designs and I'm like???? Maybe they just don't want to do it for me. Mind you the things are ask for arent excessive. I also wanted to add that after paying $60, they chipped the next day. read more

Decided it was a "treat yourself" kinda day a few weeks back and stopped at this spot after reading some good reviews. Although they were packed, they had enough staff to get me in for a manicure within 10 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and professional, she did a wonderful job with my nails, not rushing even though people were waiting. The space is nice and clean and they use OPI which I appreciate. We had set up a pedi appointment more than 24 hours ahead. Got there on time. Was told to sit down. Waited and waited Nothing. Saw other customers who came in after is with appointments got taken care of except us. You would be better off going somewhere else where your time is going to be valued. Price was absolutely no where near the quality or service Made an appointment in advance and was taken almost 45 mins later Technician had no clue the differences in pedicure packages I said i just wanted one with a massage she said that only one specific one had it (the most expensive) i didnt get it. The "jelly" that is supposed to be a big part of the markup smelled awful "natural aloe" is not supposed to be lime green Pedicure was very good but not worth the price i paid I had picked two colors (that matched as close as possible) for pedi and mani and was told i didnt have to that they had the same color for gel and dip with the same code My hands are basically translucent with a hint of pink instead of the clearly pastel and opaque baby pink of my toes. I showed a picture of the design i wanted they said no problem All of a sudden i get an ok cash or credit and i asked about the design. The response i got "sorry i got distracted" i said ok but they can still be done yes. The response "thank you see you next time" i asked if the color would darken - he said ok yes its the same color. Incredibly frustrating to pay so much money and not get good quality and still not get two big aspects i was looking for. read more

My friend and I walked in for pedicures and within 29 minutes they were able to take us. It was clean and comfortable in the pedi chairs. The service was quick and good. The leg message was really nice. They have gels and regular polishes. read more

Horrible staff member who yelled at and berated my spouse in front of all other customers, due to her being dissatisfied with her nails. She was allowed to embarrass her as no other staff bothered to stop her completely unprofessional behavior. Ridiculous that any of this was allowed to happen. read more

I went to this salon 3 times, my first experience was great but the last 2 were frustrating. Honestly, I could have done a better job painting my nails myself than having to pay for it. I had gel nail polish manicure done the first two times, then changed it to regular top coat polish only. The polish is so uneven, also it took almost two hours. I will never come back. read more

OMG. This place is such a rare gem here in Reno. I came here yesterday for my first time & was beyond delighted. The place itself is super clean, organized, and spacious! You can tell the owners take good care of the place. I got a full set of acrylics done by the owner (I forget her name) & she did such an amazing job all for an affordable price. My nails look high quality even though she managed to get them done in just an hour. The best part is she was very engaging with me as a customer & I was enjoying our conversation so much that it felt like my nails only took ten minutes. 5 stars for a clean place, friendly staff, & a quality job done. I visited this salon on August 1st 2022. I had acrylic placed over my natural nails. The woman who performed my service was subpar but the salon appeared hygienic. Today, I'm at a different salon and whatever monomer Top Coat used is essentially impermeable and impossible to remove. I am highly suspect an illegal monomer was used. I would not recommend as these illegal monomers are harmful to your heath. read more

I was paired with a different nail technician, and the quality of service was noticeably different. She asked if I wanted my toenails trimmed, and I said yes, but she only trimmed my big toenails and left the rest untouched. The polish application was also very poorly done. It was uneven and looked rushed--the worst polish job I've ever received during a pedicure. I considered mentioning it, but her two children arrived during my appointment, and I got the impression she may have been distracted or trying to finish quickly. Based on my second experience, I don't plan to return. It's unfortunate because my first visit set such high expectations. I hope the salon can provide more consistent service in the future.

A coworker of mine has had a similar experience here, so I made a point of requesting a woman, hoping I would have a better experience. Unfortunately, I was given Lily, and today's experience was just as bad. I have been getting pedicures for over 25 years. I know what a good pedicure feels like, and I know when someone is being unnecessarily rough. Throughout the entire service, Lily was constantly grabbing, repositioning, and forcefully moving my foot every 30 seconds. I have NEVER experienced anything like it during a pedicure. It felt like I was being manhandled rather than receiving a relaxing $65 service. I specifically asked for my toenails to be cut VERY short and for the ingrown areas to be carefully cleaned out. Instead, Lily CUT MY FOOT. Then, to top it all off, the gel polish application looks terrible. The polish is pushed all the way down into my cuticles, and the edges are jagged and sloppy. For $65, I expect someone to be able to apply gel polish cleanly and professionally without injuring me in the process. A pedicure is supposed to be relaxing--not an experience where you're being jerked around by your feet, cut, and then sent home with sloppy polish. I have genuinely tried to give this place multiple chances because the location is so convenient, but convenience is not worth paying $65 to be manhandled, injured, and leave unhappy with the quality of the work. Unfortunately, after this experience with Lily, I will not be returning.

I didn't get anything crazy done in terms of design because I was on a time constraint, so I just got a simple red nail and was on my way. They felt SO much better after my appointment (iykyk). The shop itself is also pretty standard in what you'd expect at most other nail salons and is pretty clean from what I saw. The price was a little more than I was expecting, but she did have to do a little more repair than normal so I'm guessing that was the reason. Later, I realized the creator worked nearby and appeared to know the owner--he even stopped in during my appointment to ask to borrow staples. That made me question how unbiased the recommendation really was. This salon has a lot of potential, but the customer service fell short. I was the only customer there, yet I still felt overlooked and uncomfortable. Between the paid parking, the price of the service, and the overall experience, I don't feel it was worth the cost.

I called to ask if they accepted walk-ins and asked how much is a medium French acrylic full set I was told that this started at 55 and it would go up depending on the size I decided on. When I called, I was sure I wanted almond nails, but as I was waiting, I saw a Pinterest picture of Coffin Square, French nails, and asked if it would be possible to do that one instead. Up until that point everything was fine and everyone was kind. However, once I asked him to change the shape. He said he would show me one nail first to see if I like it so he would do the rest, but instead, he continued to cut them all once he was done with one hand. I kept looking at it because I wasn't sure that I was satisfied with it and right when he was done cutting down I said I'm so sorry but I don't like the size is there anyway we can make it longer I know you're gonna have to put them again but I can pay and if not, that's OK too, and he got very upset and Huff and puff and told me to take them off myself and that I should tell him next time when he before he does it. Right then and there I wanted to get up and leave, but I understood that he was frustrated and due to my lack of communication so I just said thank you and we went on with the appointment . I asked for the color to 218 which was a lilac purple I was given color, 128 which looks a lot more white than it does purple but at that point, I was too uncomfortable to say anything again. towards the end of my service a lady came and sat next to me to get her nails done and the lady that was doing her nails started talking shit about me and how indecisive I was and how people shouldn't be doing stuff like that it was honestly really unprofessional and really uncomfortable and she still had the audacity to turn around and say be careful that out there cause the weather is bad like she wasn't just talking so nasty in front of me to somebody else honestly, it was just a really shitty experience and I would never give them this again. read more

If I could give this place a zero stars I would. The customer service is horrific if you make your appointment at 4 PM they will have you waiting not every time but definitely have you waiting they give you complete attitude. I've never never gotten fungus on my nails before my life and I've gotten fungus from this place on my toenails and my fingernails. Do not recommend LEE She is money, hungry and the worst. If you try to reschedule, the MANAGER will block you they're horrible. Their money hungry do not come here. Worst place I've ever been to in my entire life!!!! I had my friend come in and translate, their language that they speak, and they talk horribly about the customers calling them fat saying their nails are weird and also making fun of kids with disabilities.
