Did not like my experience at Hollywood nails. I made an appointment for me and a friend a week in advance, and when we got there we waited an hour to get in, luckily we didn't have a lot going on and had just gotten off work but it was definitely annoying. I pretty much never get my nails done but wanted to get a full set. I wanted them pretty much as short as possible because I just wanted to have nice looking nails for a couple weeks but long nails bother me. After my nail tech glued on the tips and cut them, I asked her to make them shorter because they were too long. She refused! She said that they were "already short". Look at my picture they were definitely not short. I even had friends ask me why I didn't ask for them to be shorter, and I did! Before I started getting my nails done, I showed my inspiration photo and asked if it was something she could do and she assured me she could. I asked for 3 brown nails, two green nails and the green nails to have white leaves on them. When it got around to the time of the design, she brought out a bunch of stamps and asked me which one I wanted. I looked through all the stamps and they were flowers, and fruits and stuff but I didn't want any of that I wanted leaves... but I picked one out anyway because at that point I had been there for close to 2 hours and wanted to leave. She tried to apply the stamp but could not get it to stick so then finally said she would free hand it. After free handing it she kept shaking her head and acting disappointed. After she was done, she brought me out to all the other techs which was like 5 people and they all laughed at my nails and made fun of them. I was shocked. And then they still had me pain $70 for them after gathering around and laughing at them. After 1.5 weeks, a nail popped off, and I went to another nail shop to get them removed. Amazed yet again-- This salon is clean and welcoming. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is calm and it's a nice place to relax and enjoy your services. Even when several customers came in one after another, the vibe wasn't hectic or rushed. They are also kid-friendly, and it's fun to see how kind they are to kids getting little manis/pedis. The prices are fair for the quality of their work and attention to detail every time. Love it! read more

Helen had done my nails - full set acrylic. My nails lasted a really long time (2plus weeks). They were really pretty and what I wanted. The only reason why I didn't give full stars was because I waited 15 minutes (I made an appointment before hand) and when she was filing my nails, she was a little rough. I asked her to be gentler because she was hurting me, and then it was fine after that. read more

My mom had been raving about her new nail salon and she made us appointments when I was in town. She talked about how she loved the salon and John, her nail tech. I figured I'd be the judge of that when I went in. The verdict? She was right (aren't moms always right though?). We had appointments at 4:30 today and it was not at all crowded or packed when we walked in. However, we did have to wait for quite a bit after our appointment time to be seen. It's not a large establishment, but the staff were very nice and accommodating. My mom started her gel mani with John (Dinh) while I started my pedicure with another staff member. I only got a basic gel pedi, but the attention to detail was incredible. Generally, a basic pedicure (at least in my experience) does not come with this level of care. Once I wrapped up, I was sent to John for my manicure, as he had finished up with my mom. I had dip on my nails and was charged $5 extra for removal of the previous polish, even though I was going to get a gel manicure. Just a tip to maybe ask about this in advance as I have never been charged for polish removal when I was about to get a manicure. I opted for my first ever French tip manicure (also an extra $5 for the French) and John did a great job. He is very thorough and patient, so heads-up that it may take a bit longer than the manicures you may be used to. Overall, Hollywood Nails is excellent and I would highly recommend it! I'm sure I'll swing by next time I'm in town. read more

Hollywood Nails is the best nail shop in town. You can see John or Helen and get the best manicure and/or pedicure. They are friendly, welcoming, reasonably priced, and they do a great job. John just did my nails today for a Christmas party, and I love them. read more

My boyfriend and I made appointments because I have been going here since I was a kid. It seems they have new owners and the energy of the place was not as friendly or inviting as it used to be. It was pretty expensive I paid over $100 for a orange French tip and another $50 for the pedicure. My acrylics were really chunky but I felt to rushed to say anything so I had my friend fix them later in the day. They prioritize more clients than creating a quality experience. read more

Used to love this place for pedicures - but came in recently and had a really bad experience. 1) Don't bother making an appointment. I came in with a girlfriend and she started within 10 minutes, but I sat at the bowl waiting for 30 minutes after my appointment time. Even more annoying, my nail tech sped through my pedicure so I finished at the same time as my friend - she had a 40 minute pedicure, I had a 20 minute pedicure. 2) The place was really dirty and dingy. All of the nail tools came out of the same container - I did not see any sanitizing of the tools after each new customer. The walls are dirty and so are the floors. Came here for a mani/pedi on Mother's Day weekend, invited by a friend. It wasn't bad, the experience was definitely nice but the paint wasn't worth the price whatsoever. I paid $95 for gel polish on my fingers and toes, so pretty typical, but I would expect better quality. It looked good the day of! And the colors are gorgeous! However...My fingernails are already peeled, chipped, and the layers of paint are coming apart. The paint on my toes is bubbly and already chipping, and there's polish up in my cuticles. Keep in mind this is GEL polish, it's not supposed to peel or chip for quite a while. I got this done last weekend. For me this wasn't worth it at all. If you're going to get services done in a salon, there's plenty other better ones in Reno. read more

Came here as I was in the area, made an appointment for 12:30 and although I wasn't started until 1 it was well worth the wait. Helen was very nice and assured me she would fix my nails, see my sparks nail review for more info. I am very pleased with Helen and Hollywood nails and will be back. I also got a pedicure since I needed that as well and their massage chairs were diff from other places, very deep pressure on my back which felt good read more

Nice little place that provides great service for your pedicure and manicure needs. Came here with 3 other people and got them a little bit overwhelmed as they only had so many people to serve 2 of us at a time.. The others had to unfortunately wait for a bit. Prices are reasonable and the folks here are friendly. Since we were from out of town, we also asked for recommendations for places to eat and they were able to suggest several locations nearby. Clean business and the gentleman did a good job with how rough my feet were. Reason for the 4 stars 1. Not very friendly I understand with masks it's hard to talk but still could do conversations. 2. Pedicure water wasn't warm long 3. Just basic nails couldn't do a design on big toe. Pro feet and legs felt great after & with the leftover cbd lotion I used it on my hands, also got me in within a hour. Would consider going again $65 for a Hollywood nails gel pedicure just hope this pedicure lasts as I read some reviews after booking they chipped. read more

I visited for the first time on April 25th after scheduling a 11 am appt. I requested a full set and a pedicure and all I can say is oh my gosh the service I received was incredible everyone there is so polite and so friendly and my pedicure alone I was treated to an hour. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name that did my nails but he is the one right when you walk in and amazing my nails are absolutely beautiful for my first set of Stilleto nails and for being new to the area. I definetly will make this my go to salon- My grand total with tip was $120 read more

Honestly I am very dissatisfied with this. The nail tech was nice but everything else was a mess. For $45 and just one color I expected a better job. This barely 3 days in and my cuticles look ROUGH. I sit down for my job all day and I do not really do much with my hands. I am disappointed and will not be returning. Didn't even want to go through the hassle of calling to see if I can get nails fixed. Again, maybe it was just an off day and I still do not like it. read more

Such a good nail salon experience as far as they go! I called when they opened in the morning to book an appointment for later in the day. As soon as I arrived, I was in the pedicure chair. The lady did a great job on my pedicure and I was very satisfied. A different lady did a full acrylic set for me, and she did a very good job. She actually spent TIME on my nails, making sure they were each lined up perfectly, shaped properly and even. Both ladies were very sweet and provided good conversation. They stated that if one of the nails broke or I was unhappy with them, I could come back and they would fix it at no cost. The place was clean and the price was very fair for the services provided! The review about the basic massage being more than what you expect is what really reeled me into trying this place. When I walked in the place smelled like lemongrass essential oil which drew my senses in more. Setting was small alike most nail salons which a line of spa chairs on one wall and nail stations on the other. My favorite part was the different colored glass on the work stations. I was greeted and asked what I would like right when I came in. Sat quickly after I chose my color. The place wasn't too busy for a Wednesday afternoon but oh boy did the phone ring for appointments and availability. My lovely nail tech was Le whom was friendly and provided detailed service for my mani pedi. Since I was doing a manicure as well with my pedicure she worked on my hands while I was in the spa chair waiting for the paint on my toes to dry. Did I say detailed already? She definitely was efficient, more so than what I'm used to. Oh and the hand massage topped my expectations as it was more than needed. As a finishing touch with the gel on my hands, she used a small mirror to make a "cat eye" to reflect the light in the paint to go the same direction on my nails which I've never seen before. So now I can't stop looking at my hands in the light lol Overall I would state that 9/10 I will be back as the pricing for my services (gel Mani and regular paint toes) was only $58 and they were efficient enough to even on a slow day. I would definitely recommend to always call ahead for groups and around the holidays. read more

My wife has been going to Hollywood nails for quite sometime. She has always left a tip for her pedicure. But recently when she went to pay the girl who did her pedicure, she had an attitude that the tip was not to her liking. If this is the unprofessional response that is how they treat their customers then this is not the place to take your business. No one should expect this but they should appreciate what extra is a given. read more

Been wanting to get a full set of acrylics but didn't know any places in Reno. I'm glad I gave this place a chance and will definitely be going back. Bee did my nails beautifully and I recommend her 100%. She really cares that the customer is happy, unlike other places who just care about the money. I was paired with a different nail technician, and the quality of service was noticeably different. She asked if I wanted my toenails trimmed, and I said yes, but she only trimmed my big toenails and left the rest untouched. The polish application was also very poorly done. It was uneven and looked rushed--the worst polish job I've ever received during a pedicure. I considered mentioning it, but her two children arrived during my appointment, and I got the impression she may have been distracted or trying to finish quickly. Based on my second experience, I don't plan to return. It's unfortunate because my first visit set such high expectations. I hope the salon can provide more consistent service in the future.

Throughout the entire service, Lily was constantly grabbing, repositioning, and forcefully moving my foot every 30 seconds. I have NEVER experienced anything like it during a pedicure. It felt like I was being manhandled rather than receiving a relaxing $65 service. I specifically asked for my toenails to be cut VERY short and for the ingrown areas to be carefully cleaned out. Instead, Lily CUT MY FOOT. Then, to top it all off, the gel polish application looks terrible. The polish is pushed all the way down into my cuticles, and the edges are jagged and sloppy. For $65, I expect someone to be able to apply gel polish cleanly and professionally without injuring me in the process. A pedicure is supposed to be relaxing--not an experience where you're being jerked around by your feet, cut, and then sent home with sloppy polish. I have genuinely tried to give this place multiple chances because the location is so convenient, but convenience is not worth paying $65 to be manhandled, injured, and leave unhappy with the quality of the work. Unfortunately, after this experience with Lily, I will not be returning.

My issue is specifically with the nail service I received from Nancy. Before we started, I explained that I wanted my cuticles cleaned. At other salons, and even at this location years ago when I used to go to Queenie, my cuticles were always cleaned before the acrylic was applied. This time, Nancy waited until after the acrylic was already on to clean them. I even asked during the service when she was going to do my cuticles and was told "not yet." Because the acrylic was already applied when she finally did them, I don't feel like they were cleaned properly, and she also ended up cutting the corner of my right thumb while doing them. I was also charged an additional $15 for the cuticle service, which was disappointing because they still don't look properly cleaned. I asked for a skinny square shape, but the finished nails look much wider than what I requested. The acrylic also feels extremely thin, and overall I am just not happy with how my nails look or feel. There was also very little communication during the appointment other than being asked what color I wanted. I understand every nail technician has a different personality, but when you're paying for a service, communication about what you want and whether you're happy with the shape and nails makes a big difference. I also want to make it very clear that the price was NOT the issue. I was told the price, agreed to it, paid $95, and still left Nancy a $10 tip. I am willing to pay for quality work and good service. I didn't complain while I was there because I didn't want to make a big deal or make anyone uncomfortable, but after looking at my nails, I honestly regret not speaking up. For $105 total, I expected to leave loving my nails, and unfortunately I didn't. I really wanted to like my experience because the remodeled salon is beautiful, but I was very disappointed with the quality of the service I received.

I was used to having a manicure and pedicure every fortnight and asked my husband if he knew of a good salon where I could continue having my hands and feet done. He wasn't sure but took me to a few around here. They were so-so and the charges, though on the high side were not commensurate with their services. We chanced upon HOLLYWOOD NAILS and my search ended here! Boy, wasn't I pleased!!! The moment I walked in, I felt relaxed and at home, thanks to Sydney, her brother, Delvin and his wife Hannah. The ambience, the cleanliness, the spa chairs and the soft relaxing music added to my feeling of comfort and relaxation. I was suffering with 'IN-GROWN NAILS' for a long, long time and wasn't able to rid myself of this predicament, and because of which I wasn't able to wear pretty and elegant court shoes. During my pedi, I mentioned this to Sydney. She flashed her contagious smile at me and said: "Don't worry; you'll soon be wearing your pretty and elegant court shoes. You'll see!" Winter poked her bleak face in, but mine wasn't; for true to her words I was back to wearing court shoes and FASHIONABLE BOOTS!!! GEE WHIZ... my "in-grown nails" had vanished!!! THANKS TO THE LOVING and TENDER CARE of SYDNEY and her TEAM!! I always used a natural polish for my nails and toes... She coaxed me into wearing darker colors, and chose polish that matched my skin tone. I was very impressed by her innate art of persuasion and 'dress sense'. Their Spa chairs are in tune with their Pampering! One can actually doze in them while getting "the works" done to her hands and feet... washing, scrubbing and cleansing with gels and lotions, followed by cream massages, topped with hot rocks and hot towels dipped in scented oils...ALL OF WHICH ARE NOT OF LITTLE VALUE!!! And the charges, YOU ASK, for this PAMPERING and attention to the minutest detail?? 'EASY ON THE POCKET' will be my answer... By Jove, I was not the only one receiving "ROYAL TREATMENT" Each and every one who walked in, WALKED OUT WITH an AIR of CONFIDENCE and EXUBERANCE writ large on her face! This place is great! Very nice and clean! Staffs there are very friendly! Most important Pedicure is wonderful with good amount of massage your legs along with hot stone massage, also they did very good job with the callus removal of your heels! Definitely is not in and out pedicure! Ought to come back for the mani next time when I am in town! I saw they had the hot mitten to soak the clients hands with for the mani! Best nails I have ever had done! I actually got them done about 1 week and a half ago and I was pretty nervous but it was a great experience. I had Hannah and my mother who went with me had Hannah's husband. They both were so sweet and they are so cheap for the great service! That's why I will be coming back. Terrible...first time and last...nail polish is all old and clumpy. They do not use reputable brands like Essie , etc just cheap Chinese nail polish. Technician didnt paint entire nail just the middle and color was totally streaked. I have been to many inexpensive nail salons and this was the worse. read more
