Husband and I thought we'd try a new place. Never heard of SOAK and it was a 1/4 mile from my grandbabies, so we thought it would be convenient. We really did not do any research prior to making the appointment like 3 hours before. Well the ladies were sure VERY NICE! Had great conversation! It was pretty private and my husband and I both felt very comfortable. We ordered a beverage (champagne and a pink drink - both yum) and then they brought out two x-large silver bowls filled with tepid water. Soaked our feet for 5 minutes. I believe my husbands feet were taken care of sufficiently. Nothing special. I got the WORST pedicure of my life. I asked for a French tip gel manicure - which I usually get any time I go anywhere to get a manicure... she said she "hadn't done one for a while" so I was in the position of having to pick a color that I could wear for the next week or two. That was the most upsetting thing and we felt like walking out. Then - I got the shittiest pedicure of my life. None of this would have bothered me - except it was the absolutely most expensive pedicure that we've ever had. (We get a lot of them.) I'm talking $250 for a man's basic pedi and my crappy gel pedi. Disappointed to say our most recent experience was subpar, at best. The receptionist and technicians are very nice women and incredibly kind but the experience today fell short. Overall the pedicure service was just okay. On our way out I noticed my polish was slipping and notified the receptionist and she just said I'm sorry! For an $89 service this is unacceptable. We pay for the "monthly" membership which has specific requirements we were not made aware of upon enrollment and have not once been offered the "free" upgrades since we began in March. I've enjoyed this place for many years, referred many people and at this point will not be back! read more

Inquired and was told they could 'possibly' give me a $5 gift card for a future visit. Still awaiting return call from owner as I was told this from mgr on duty. Happy w/pedi but feel slighted didn't receive what I paid for and I tipped generously even as FORCED to tip seperated for front desk gal.... This place is the definition of A for effort (but still can't justify giving it more than 3 stars). I live in CA so used to getting my nails done very quickly, very professionally, very cheap. The competition in CA just forces everyone to be on their A game. Very different in Reno. I have always had a very hard time finding any salon in Reno that does even half as good of a job as my worst nails in the Bay Area... but I was home for the holidays and my nails were looking ROUGH. Soak seemed to have decent reviews so I decided to check it out. The salon is very clean and cute but they didn't really have any formal seating to do nails which I thought was an immediate red flag. The whole room was basically just comfortable seating for the guest but no nail tables. The nail techs were all super hunched over sitting on little ottomans doing nails which is WILD to me.... I would quit in a heartbeat with the back pain that would give me. They asked if I wanted to order an alcoholic beverage which is wild to me because I did not know nail places could sell alcohol LOL gotta love how Nevada embraces alcoholism!!! My people! I obvi got a peppermint martini that was so strong I questioned if I should be driving home after just 1 drink LOL. The staff here are truly fantastic. I had the sweetest girl do my nails but bless her heart she had no experience doing gel nails. She tried so hard and I appreciate her so much for that but it was so clear she was lost, she missed so many steps and the overall nail process took 2 hours for gel nails!!! And she didn't even prep my nails - no soaking and prepping the cuticles. She had to redo a few of the nails because of mistakes. We did eventually get there and from afar the nails looked good! But up close they were very uneven texture, peeling off quickly, and my cuticles uneven since they were not prepped. Really appreciate her effort.... But definitely got them redone as soon as I got back home to SF. A bit crazy how low the standard is in Reno... overall a friendly experience but very poor nail quality so couldn't give it more than 3 stars. read more

Went for a couples pedicures for our anniversary. Much better than any I've gotten in Northern Nevada but could still use some friendly criticism. #1 Massage better and longer!!! I even specified I wanted strong massage when I scheduled and when I arrived!! They did much more detailed cuticle and nail bed work and my polish lasted forever!!! It would be nice if another patron would have taken their loud speaker off during his conversation that lasted the entire 2nd half of our service. Just came in for a seasonal soak pedicure and there are a couple of things I feel I should mention. To begin with they had me wait over 10 minutes for my drink. I ordered a momarita and it was not good! I didn't even drink it. Second, the entire experience was totally rushed. I felt that I spent more time with my feet in the water than actually getting a relaxing experience including a massage. She just poured oil over my feet, rubbed in and that's it! The lotion was applied with a brush and just left on there covered with a hot towel. I wouldn't even call what I received a Massage. And lastly... the part I noticed the most! The difference in service that I received vs the customers that came after me. I wasn't greeted, the tech made no talk with me whatsoever, even after I tried initiating a conversation with her and didn't even smile. The entire time felt like she was upset or something. But the customers after me received a very friendly greeting and what I thought was more conversation in the first 3 minutes of their appointment than I received in mine. Difference here.. I don't know why I keep trying this place thinking it's going to get better. I went in for a pedicure yesterday, and I was asked if I wanted two coats of polish on my toes. I was asked if I was going to want hot towels today? When I'm paying over $70 for a pedicure of course I want two coats of polish and the hot towels that the pedicure comes with. She barely massaged my legs or feet. Came home and looked at my toes and she missed putting polish on half of my pinky toe. read more

Tried a new place out that I've heard great things about. What immediately set this place apart was that they brought out a bowl of hot water to soak your feet in, instead of a a tub that's used over and over (with water changes). The gal took her time and didn't try to chat too much, which made it easy to relax and take it all in. I also enjoyed a delicious espresso martini while there. Excellent pedicure in a relaxing location. A little pricier than other spots, but worth it depending on the experience you're seeking. read more

So, I usually go the South Creek Location for my pedicure and ever time I go, the tech always forgets something. They either forget to add my jelly bath option and they always rush the service. They aren't very welcoming and friendly. I went over to the other location they have and although there was a minor hiccup with the directions to get there, let me tell you the service was way, way more fun ! The girl who did my service, was so sweet and friendly. She did an amazing job ! I would say that if you're going to book a service definitely go to the second location ! read more

I won an Instagram giveaway for Soak's new Kokoist nail extensions! This salon had been on my list of places to try, so I was very excited to come try it out last week. They have 2 locations, South Reno and downtown. I came to the South Reno location since I'm off on Mondays and their downtown location is closed that day. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this is more of an upscale salon because of how trendy and well-decorated it is. They have cushioned couches/chairs for you to sit in instead of the typical salon chairs or manicure stations. For a pedicure, they bring a bowl of warm water out to put at your feet. No massage chairs that I saw. For a manicure, they bring out a lap table for the nail stylist to work on. My nail stylist was Sadye, she was personable and I enjoyed talking with her throughout this process! This was my first time doing nail extensions and she was really helpful in explaining the difference between the Kokoist brand and acrylics. She's also the one who does nail art for the salon! The Kokoist service is listed as taking 1h 30mins online but mine took a full 2h. The price was also quite expensive at $115, which didn't mean much when I went since I had a gift card. It would've cost extra to do nail art or get one of their cocktails. Even their basic services are quite expensive. I've heard great things about their cocktails, I was told one of the owners is a mixologist and so the cocktails are pretty high quality. I didn't try one this time since I was there at 10am. I can see why some people would pay the high prices to come here, there is certainly a target audience that they are trying to cater to. It is great for people who want the pretty upscale atmosphere, want nicer products with better chemicals, and want to feel like they are being pampered. However, I know plenty of people that say they get their nails done elsewhere that turn out just as nicely and are a fraction of the price compared to Soak. I enjoyed my experience here and would maybe come back, but I don't think I would become a regular, mostly because of the prices. read more

The staff is the best part. They are always so kind, and they check in you often. The place is always clean and it's also very relaxing to catch up with your girls. I like that they do my pedicures and keep it simple. We are going again, of course, and I want to take my daughter sometime so she can enjoy as well. I'm pregnant and always enjoy their cocktails. It doesn't seem to be the same thing everything. That is very nice. Of course the parking can be packed. It just depends on the day, if there are events, etc. Women take their entire family or even have a day with their husband. So don't hesitate and come on by. read more

I really wanted to love Soak. I went for the first and only time with my granddaughter for her birthday. we both got a mani and pedi. I liked the atmosphere, and everything was clean. It was way pricey compared to the places I usually go, but if it's nicer, what the heck. 2 days after my gel manicure, my polish popped clean off as if it was a fake nail. the following day, half of another nail came off and a third was completely lifting. I called and they offer to schedule me for repair, which I did. I drove back up to Reno from Carson City for the repair. By the end of that week, all of the polish had come off of my nails, with the exception of the 3 they had repaired previously. I was not going to drive back up to Reno. I got a new manicure at my usual place close to home. read more

Not going to lie, the experiences I've had at this Soak location are what I compare any other manicure or pedicure experience to. Nothing has come close in comparison. The staff are always polite and helpful. There is no pushing to add anything on. They ask about water temperature to ensure the experience is exactly what will relax you. They do offer cocktails and other drinks. Their hot chocolate is amazing. I've honestly never had one of their alcoholic drinks so I am unable to speak to those. Even with the drinks though, the environment is great for families as I took my SIL when she was 15 and she had a fantastic time. read more

So I totally avoided the down town location due to the reviews. Honestly, I understand why this place doesn't have the best rating. I had a great time and it definitely is not your traditional salon. I sat in a chair and waited for my service thinking it was in a waiting room until my nail lady came in with a large metal bowl filled with hot water accompanied with marbles on the bottom of it. So that was interesting. I got a gift card for this place and I'm glad about it because it was pretty overpriced. I did the May special which came with a complimentary drink and other stuff and my total was over $90. I've gone to salons out here where I got a margarita, gel polish, hot stones and the works and it was only $75 and I left Soak feeling a bit underwhelmed. I'll stick to my other shop from here on out but the polish is still on my toes and my lady who's name I was (I think) Tauni or Tami or something along those lines. She was great and personable. My mother in-law booked an appointment for hard gel today and when she arrived her nail tech told her that she did not have time to do her appointment. The tech made her feel like it was her fault that she didn't "have time for this" even though she booked the correct appointment and showed up on time. She proceeded to try and send my mother in-law to a different salon and told her word for word "we can't help you" and "we don't have time for you" regardless of the hour and a half appointment that she booked. extremely disappointing experience. read more

Not super consistent in quality. On Saturday I got my nails done with extensions and paid a total of 160$ with tip. By Wednesday three of the nails had popped off and others were lifting. I ended up making an appointment with another salon to get them removed and replaced. Another set I had done here before was the complete opposite, lasted three weeks and perfectly applied. So it really depends on who you get assigned. I just wish I hadn't splurged so much to have to redo them elsewhere, it's a very pricy salon and I didn't really get what I paid for on the most recent set. read more

My experience here was quite interesting.. I put 2 stars because the staff were really cool. My friend booked a mani/pedi for me. I was instructed to come with bare nails. Which I understand, but if I had previous gel on my nails I don't know what I would've done to get those off.. All the other places I've gone to have taken them off for me before even if it was an extra charge. I was sat down in one of many chairs. The chairs were quite dirty. They wipe them down between clients, but there's dirt stuck in the cracks of the leather seats. I think this place could use a good scrubbing. When my nail girl came out, she came out with a metal tub for my pedicure. I've honestly never experienced that before. They brought a smaller metal bowl for my manicure as well. These bowls of water got cold pretty quickly. To do my manicure, they squished a tray into my chair. Kinda weird. Before starting my service, my nail tech asked what colors I wanted. I told her what I wanted for my toes and asked if there's any way she could do a design on the nails and elongate them. She was very nice, but her response was that she doesn't do designs. If I wanted a design, I would've had to submit a picture of the design beforehand. They only have 1 person in the salon that is able to do designs. Same with elongating, I would've had to let them know beforehand. What I was asking for were some flowers on the nails. She offered to not do my nails that day and then have me come back the next day (which was very kind instead of just taking my money and for me to disappointed) but unfortunately I did not have the time to come back. These were nails for my wedding and I had a lot of things to do the days following. The staff were nice here, but for the price you pay.. It doesn't feel worth it. There are better salons. The salon I usually go to have taken me as a walk-in and have been able to accommodate designs and full sets without submitting anything beforehand. The nail techs are almost all capable of doing these things. At my usual place, the water for the pedicure stays warm, they really exfoliate and moisture you, and they're also really nice and friendly. So sad to say that I won't be going back to Soak ever again. read more

I brought my girls here as a treat to celebrate one of their birthdays. The pedicures went well, but my oldest decided to get a manicure. They turned out beautiful, and we had a nice experience. The downfall was about an hour after getting home. Her nails started sliding off. The nail technician must have forgotten to wipe the lotion off before applying the polish. She was so bummed. I have tried to reach them a couple different ways, but have not heard back from anyone. We are a bit disappointed. Just keep this in mind if you decide to schedule a visit... make sure they wipe your nails before applying the polish. read more

I recently had a pedicure at SOAK and it was okay. SOAK advertises itself as offering "Reno's best nail spa experience". They talk about the luxurious experience and charge luxurious price but the service delivery and actual experience fell a little short for me. They also advertise their house made cocktails but the cocktails aren't included with every service. Now, if SOAK had average prices and advertised a "nice" experience, I'd be writing a 4- or 5-star review. SOAK just didn't live up to its advertised experience for me. Upon walking in, the nail polish colors are on the right side of a dimly lit corridor. I had to use my cell phone's flashlight just to see what color I was picking. That was a little off-putting. In the actual salon, the rooms are decorated in fun ways and there is pretty good lighting. I had the "tailored pedicure" and asked the nail technician to spend a little more time buffing the dry skin off my heels. My nail technician was very polite and I enjoyed our conversation. I felt like she did a pretty good job with my rather simple pedicure. At the beginning, I was never really asked how they could tailor the "tailored pedicure" so I thought it was just odd to offer the tailored option at all. It seemed like just a normal pedicure - maybe with a little extra buffing per my request. I spent around $70 for a one hour pedicure with plain polish. I don't feel like the experience at SOAK was worth $30+ more than other salons in town so I probably won't be back. read more

I have a cut on the side of my foot from extremely abrasive pumice . They need a different type. Then too much acetone used to wipe off lotion from my toenails and it poured down my foot to the the cut. It stung. But I ignored it, thinking no big deal. Now with the cut, I realize why it stung with the acetone. I have never had a cut from a pedi. I've read other reviews. Same problem. I also said don't cut my toenails round, so gee, she only cut the corners round. This is a no-no. Very bad for your toenails. $68 for that! I gave this location a chance, because my manicure at your other location was terrible. She took the gel (a CND product, which you use) off my nails using a sander, no acetone soak at all. I own a small business and do not leave these reviews lightly. I don't mind overpaying for some fun for my tiny daughters on occasion. However, this was simply a poor attempt at a service and sincerely poor quality. I went in for two toddler manicures ( 1.5 and 3.5) before my daughter's recital. I went in hoping for a cute experience and a decent job. They dipped their hands in some water. My older daughter got a little lotion. Neither got a trim or file. We were there a total of 20 minutes, our service was 10 minutes max. The ladies were nice enough but the manicures are bad and the experience was significantly lacking. They didn't even fake file or use a brush. Nothing. I didn't expect perfect nails, it was more for the experience. Their nails look outright Bad. THEY CHARGED ME $64 ($32 each). I asked for a discount (they didn't give me one) and I was upset, because that's ridiculous for the quality of the experience we got. I said as much. They said they would have to call a manager, but didn't offer to do so. This is a terrible place to take your kid for a first manicure, no pride in their service or customer experience. My friend and I had pedicures today. Both of us received phenomenal services with professional technicians. The reason I'm writing this is because during my hand massage I removed my Rolex and placed it in my lap. Unbeknownst to me, I got up and left it in the chair. The front desk phoned me after I was already on my way home. I came back to get my watch and was so grateful to this amazing honest front desk staff. I will definitely be returning. Not worth the money to me. My appointment was at nine. They didn't unlock the door until after 9am, but request you be 5 minutes early. I booked a tailored soak with a gel polish add on as the website told me to do if I wanted gel polish. The girl at the front had to check to see if the tech that I was scheduled with was able to do gel.....to start the chairs are not very comfortable. The front desk girl took a drink order from the lady next to me and then proceeded to ask if i wanted anything. Soak prides themselves on a cocktail/mocktail experience but as my first time here I have no idea what is offered and there was no menu or even a short list of what my options were. My tech, Skye, brought out a bunch of gel option and then went back to get the water bowl. When she came back, a few minutes later, immediately wanted to know the color I chose. So much for a minute to choose. She asked if I was allergic to anything, which I am glad she did because their product has avocado oil and I'm allergic to avocado....that could have been a disaster. She dumped something into the bowl and proceeded to ask me to mix it around. Now it was time to remove the gel I had left on four of my toes. I was asked to put my feet up and then asked to bend them at the knee. So now I am getting a hamstring workout to hold my feet up to the stool without pushing her backwards because it rolls. Not really my idea of relaxing. As she files the top layer of the gel off in order to get the acetone to soak through.....she proceeded to file my skin. I finally had to pull my foot so she would stop. At this point we still haven't discussed what I would like tailored in my "tailored soak". Now to the trimming. She trimmed all of my toes except my big toe. I asked a little shorter and square and she rounded them and cut everything off of all the other toes. Now I have a long big toes and super short for the rest. Okay a little sugar scrub and now I'm just up and waiting with a towel on my feet. On to the painting. Nothing to separate my toes, so the pinky toe definitely stuck to the side of my other toe and wasn't fixed at all. Also, a clear coat that started in the middle of the nail. Not covering the whole thing. She asked if I would prefer a mask or lotion with a hot towel and that was a nice choice. The foot massage is my favorite part and it was more of a rub but it was a great massage on the side of my right calf. I booked the "tailored soak" for a longer foot massage as the option of what I wanted tailored. Still not asked and there was not a longer massage which was disappointing. As cute as this place is, I don't think I would bother coming back. I was expecting more of a higher class experience as they charge $70+ for the experience and pride on their soaks. The whole experience was about an hour and fifteen which is what it was scheduled for. The longest part was the hot towels. Not impressed. Live and learn. read more

This place trys too hard, over charges and kisses your a**. I've been to nail salons in The Bay and LA, and never have I had this experience. This is just a bar that happens to do nails. I got charged for my drink....I've never been to a salon that does that. The Bay and LA doesn't even do that like damn girl you must be hurting for money if you're charging for a complimentary drink and they don't tell you you're getting charged. They add on services without you knowing. I just wanted a regular gel pedicure and the girl kept adding things on. I'm sure it doesn't cost $200 for a regular gel pedicure. Upon booking, you are informed of the pricey cancellation fee if you cancel your appointment 24hrs or less before your appointment time. One hour before leaving for the appointment, I received a call from Soak stating that their tech called out and couldn't do my appointment. I requested a backup technician. The lady on tje phone informed me that there was no backup tech, they were unable to fit me in at ALL today, and I would need to reschedule again another week out. They offered their apology but that's not good enough. You will charge ME if I cancel but offer me nothing for my wasted time when you do? To a new customer, this is not a good practice. A simple offer like $5 off for your inconvenience would have been appreciated on a large ticket. Sorry not sorry but not going to reschedule or try this place again. read more

I received a shellac mani/pedi at their downtown location. I've gotten my nails done here before and although it's very expensive compared to other salons, it's worth it because the shellac stays on for soooo long! After this last mani, the polish started peeling off and lifting after a week which was super disappointing. The salon put me contact with Regina & she promptly arranged for me to have a completely new mani at their South Reno location. I love the atmosphere at Soak! The receptionist was super friendly and offered a drink from the very beginning. While I only asked for water with lemon, she was happy to provide. Heather was my nail technician and she's absolutely fantastic! This was my second or maybe third time with her and we always have a wonderful time chatting about anything and everything. Her work is phenomenal as well! All and all, I love coming to Soak for all my nail care. Heather let's me chill and relax if I need to and chats me up when I feel like having quality conversation! I've been a customer of SOAK for a while now, but never a customer who consistently went for services. I started to consistently go about 6 months before my wedding. At the first appointment I was paired with Isabel. She did a great job I requested her to be the manicurist each time. As we got closer to the wedding date we would "test" different looks I thought I wanted. Each time Isabel was open to my concern with slight changes. Once we finalized the look and color it was just perfecting the glitter placement. I recommend SOAK not only as a once in a while client but as a consistent client. I'm giving three stars because of the tip policy here. I got a pedicure here recently. The technician was professional & friendly. She did a good job. When I went to the front desk to pay, I learned that I couldn't leave a tip because I was using a credit card. Front desk advised cash or debit card only if you want to leave a tip.
