Today was my very first visit to SOAK. There were three of us in our party, and I was "gifting" a pedicure to my friends as a belated Christmas present. I wanted everything to be perfect and amazing. It was. From the friendly greeting we received when we arrived, to the cocktails being served to us in our chairs while our pedicures were taking place, everything exceeded our expectations. I felt that the $40 cost of the pedicure was a great value for the service. We met the owner while we were there. She welcomed us personally and thanked us for coming in. Our nail techs were friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a relaxing manicure or pedicure (or both) to visit SOAK. I will definitely be visiting again! read more

This is the second time I've been to this location and my experience was nothing like my first time. This review is based solely on customer service. I am happy with the way my pedicure looks. I'm not happy with the customer service that my mom and I received. I had gotten my mom a gift certificate for a seasonal pedicure for Mother's Day and yesterday we went to Soak to have our pedicures together. Seasonal pedicures include an alcoholic drink from the menu and the total cost per pedicure is $65. We were seated and our drink order was taken promptly. Our nail techs started our pedicures and about 25 minutes went by and we still didn't have our drinks. I hated to mention it and the nail techs didn't seem to notice. The front desk girl is the one responsible for taking drink orders and bringing them to clients. I mentioned out loud finally that we didn't have our drinks yet. My nail tech got up to check on our drinks. She came back and said "oh she's planning her birthday party for tonight, it's her birthday today." She then went on to say how she thought that everyone should have their birthday off as a holiday from work. I really was speechless and my mouth was probably wide open. Even after she checked on our drinks it was still a good 10-15 minutes before our drinks came. By this point our services were more than halfway over. I also would like to add that my nail tech was wearing shorts that were cut like a swimsuit. I can't believe a place of employment would allow this kind of attire unless you worked at the Wild Orchid or some other strip joint. She also was either very bored or very tired and she yawned throughout my service. I was prepared to tip $15 to each of our nail techs but after this experience I only tipped them each $10 and this was pretty generous considering. Honestly I can get a superb deluxe pedicure from my regular nail tech Leslie at Lucky Nails. $40 is the price of a deluxe pedicure at Lucky Nails and it includes at least 10 minutes of massage and a paraffin wax treatment. When you are paying $65 for a pedicure you expect great customer service and detail. This didn't happen yesterday at Soak unfortunately. read more

No moisturizer or oils on my hands or my feet, no hot towels, no drink offered. No apology or acknowledgement for making me wait for 20 to start my mani pedi. Even though I paid extra to get a design on my nails I have been discouraged from getting one each time I booked it. I have been going every two weeks fairly regularly for the past couple of months and each time it seems to be getting worse. No $200 a month is a lot of money for lack luster service, unfortunately I'm going to have to find a new place. 2nd st location read more

I love soak. We have been several times. I love the sweet employees. They are so sweet and just very real. You feel very welcome. The Wife and I love Soak. Friendly environment, clean, all natural. My feet always feel great after a pedicure! They do a really good job, and the Techs are always friendly. Love the Pineapple drop cocktail, delicious. Can be hard to get an appointment, a bit pricey, and often it goes by to fast, but great overall! :) read more

NAIL INFECTION! BEWARE! My daughter and I visited Soak on 12/26/12 for standard manis. Within 24 hours the polish was chipping, but even worse, I developed a nail infection from bacteria verified by a doctor who prescribed an antibiotic. I called the owner, Shannon, and asked her to pay the doctor/prescription bill of $40.00 and to refund the remaining money on a gift card ($86) since I will never return to this shop. I DID NOT ask for a refund on the manicure. Shannon asked me to drop off copies of the receipts, and she would talk to her business partner to decide what to do. Four days later I still hadn't heard back from her. After 2 hours at the doctor, a trip to the pharmacy, making copies of the receipts and then driving back to the shop to drop off the receipts, I had hoped that Shannon would take the initiative to contact me, but that did not happen. So, I phoned Shannon, who said she had not received the receipts (I left them at the front desk), but would find them and get back to me. We shall see if that happens. Bottom line...this event has turned into a nightmare of pain and time for me. I realize bad things happen, but this business is not treating me as a valued customer. My requests are not unreasonable and it's shocking that a business owner would not step forward, take responsibility and immediately respond to my request. read more

Soak, you ought to work on customer service. Before I tell everyone the mistakes you made I'll give you a chance to make it right.

Soak is my favorite nail spa to go to anywhere. The atmosphere is wonderful and most importantly, everything is very clean. I got a Get Fresh mani and pedi with Anna and she was so nice and paid a lot of attention to detail. read more

Beware of the 2 for one emails you receive. My daughter and I periodically go for a pedicure together and we thought this would be a great last minute opportunity. When we booked it on line it appeared that we chose one that was under the "special" but learned after the fact it was not. Paid for 2 over priced, for what you receive, pedicures. read more

As a long time Soak client it pains me to have to leave an updated review with 1 star. We recently quit Soak due to multiple reasons. First, all the good techs seem to be leaving these days. And it's no surprise. You can tell they aren't treated very well based on the interactions wight them. They won't say anything when asked, which is almost just as telling. Second, they hire techs right out of cosmetology school. Who wants to pay the price they charge for AWFUL service. Lastly, the owner could care less about the quality of the performance by the techs or client retention. We had booked a private party for 13 people and when we chose to "fire" Soak and cancel our reservation, I had asked to have the owner call so I could explain why.. Not a word. Which is fine since 8 of the people who were part of our reservation were Soak clients as well and after explaining why we cancelled our party and how awful Soak treats their employees, our friends have decided to quit Soak as well. I do miss the environment and concept of Soak, but do t miss over paying for lackluster service. read more

I was really excited to try out Soak because I had heard that it's an up-scale place to get your nails done in Reno. Upon arrival, I had high hopes because of the ambiance and decor was nice. However, I have never had such a poor nail experience. I found the seating arrangement very uncomfortable; my nail lady was a bit crude, with her boobs hanging so far out that I could not help by stare at them (and not in a good way); and my nails came out horrible! I got gels with white tips. They were so thick and trashy that I was embarrassed to show them in public! I showed a picture of very natural looking, short, rounded white tips and I got chucky, long, square, trashy-looking nails. They were horrible. On top of the initial poor impression, one nail started lifting after less than 1 week! By a week and a half later they all were lifting and looked even more horrible. On top of this, they were $65! Overall this is by far the worst nail experience I have ever had and I will never be returning to Soak. read more

My mani/pedi were decent and the atmosphere is very cute (foothill rd location). However, I had a HUGE problem with how rude the girls in the front were towards me for asking a question like "Do you have any multi-colored glitter?" I also said I had an appointment for 3 (meaning 3 pm). They treated me like I was crazy because they thought I meant for 3 people (pretty common mistake). I don't treat myself very often, so the last thing I want is to go into a salon and be made to feel like an idiot when I am so happy and excited to be there (not to mention paying 100$). They were unfriendly, rude and not helpful whatsoever. I wouldn't go back simply for that reason. read more

I received a gift card to Soak for Christmas from a fantastic friend. She knew about my recent foot surgery and that I was in desperate need of a pedicure. I booked my appointment online for the get fresh pedicure - I love that I can book online instead of calling. They have a well stocked bar that you can order from with their own specialty drinks and wine too. They do not have the large massage chairs, instead they have large overstuffed chairs with throw pillows and they bring your soak to you in a large stainless bowl which was new for me. From there your tech comes out to take care of you. Kaylynn (Sp?) was great with me, she was sensitive to my foot injury and double checked to make sure I was okay throughout my pedicure. They have a large selection of colors for you to choose from and a little shopping area out front stocked with purses and jewelry. Soak would be a great place to go with a group of friends, special occasions or when you're in the need for some extra pampering. read more

I was back home visiting family and my mom kept raving about some new mani pedi place in Reno. She told me it was named Soak and I randomly drove by it and decided to stop in to check it out. The place was very cute with modern décor and fun bright colors which made it look like a perfect place to go with your girlfriends to get your nails done. I was greeted by a guy at the front, I believe his name was Brendan, and I explained to him that I was looking to book an appointment for my mom since she said she loved the place so much. He was extremely helpful and proceeded to tell me all the different services and options that Soak offered. He was able to help me with my inquiries as well as attend to the other customers at the same time. I decided on getting my mom a gift certificate, that way she could pick the services she wanted on her own. I was quite pleased with the service I received and impressed with how cute the place was. I hope to get my own nails done there next time I'm in town. Thank you Brendan for the wonderful service and all your help! And thank you Soak for what I know will be a wonderful gift for my mom! read more

Best pedi ever!! The experience was nice beginning to end. The receptionist was knowledgeable and sweet. Ali was my nail artist and was amazing!! My nails not only look perfect, but my feet and legs feel softer than ever. Plus, the perfect pedi was paired with a delightful cocktail menu!! Super clean and sterile methods of pedicures. You will not regret making this your monthly go to nail salon. read more

I have gone here four times since I have moved here. They don't due acrylics so the smell isn't intense like other places which is why I I chose this place to begin with. I like that the people speak English here. However, I always seem to get the person that is having a bad day. My friends always seem to get someone that listens to what they want and get taken care of. Every time I've had different people and for the price you pay I expect to have friendly service and someone that does the best job they can. My massage was way shorter then my friends I went with. That's my favorite part and she skipped it all together pretty much... Three out of four times. I was bummed. None of the ladies were friendly as well. They didn't really talked and the last lady asked me if I wanted my baby toenail painted...well yeah I do! Why would I want all my toes painted but not the little one? Maybe it's a new fashion thing I don't know about but seemed strange to me. I am not sure if I will go back. I will try to find another place that doesn't do acrylics. read more

i called to make an appointment and they had me come in at 11am. i walk in wanting a SPECIFIC red, yellow and green design because i'm going to a festival (literally three lines on one toe and red french on the rest, so simple) and they flat out said no. they also said i absolutely could not have gel polish bc they double booked LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT???? but the person doing my toes said she could do the design and gel, so we proceeded. then as i'm getting my toes prepped she says "i guess i can't do it sorry. you can just get a white french tip". so now i can't even leave and go somewhere else bc she already started. this girl was so sweet but this is the worst french ever, she cut my toe because she didn't know how to cut an ingrown, my lines are messed up and my nails are wayyyy too short. i'm so upset she made me pay. 65$ dollars and as soon as i got home my polish IS ALREADY FALLING OFF. AWFUL. AWFUL. do not go here. -10, i want a refund or someone else to fix my toes. read more

I received this email from SOAK Two for One is Lots of Fun Throughout the month of October, 2-for-1 seasonal pedicures Monday through Thursday. Must book both appointments at the same time. While appointments last. " My daughter and I had been to SOAK a couple of times so I thought wow let's take advantage of this amazing deal. So I called and made an appointment for this awesome special, stating that I wanted Shellac polish not regular polish. When we arrived for our appointment the not so friendly receptionist who always greets us tells us to pick out regular polish. I explained to her we wanted Shellac. She not so kindly said the 2 for 1 did not include Shellac and that the appointment was not booked that way and they did not have time to do the "Special" pedicures. That they could do a regular pedicure with Shellac. I asked what the difference was, she replied "product" ok so again I asked what do you mean by "products" she again replied "the products we use". At this point we should have just walked out because she was being so rude to us. We went and had our less than par pedicures and our little pink drinks that were supposed to be complimentary with the 2 for 1 special. When we went to check out, the receptionist, tells us at this point that we are now NOT getting the 2 for 1 special because it does not include Shellac and we have to pay for our pink drinks that we thought were free. My daughter asked her why she didn't tell us this before our service she quips back "it clearly states it on the email" So what we thought was going to be a nice relaxing pedicure for $70 turned out to be $140 plus a stressful experience with pedicures, and foot massages that were less than par. No where in this statement nor on their website does it state what comes with this special. Had she explained this to us before the services we would not of had them done. To be surprised with a bill that is more than double what you thought and be disrespected is just too much. This is by far the worst customer service we have ever received. SOAK is expensive to have services done and I don't mind paying more if I am getting value for my service and feel respected. If you are going to run a special then be precise and list exactly what it does or does not include. And if you don't then educate and train your staff on how to give great customer service and explain your services. We will never return to SOAK. read more

Brought my 9 year old daughter and 3 bff's for a little miss birthday celebration complete with a soak, massage, nail art and mocktails. They had a great time! Great experience during my pedicure at Soak. I went to the Foothill location in South Reno. Renee did my pedicure and she was very friend and made me feel comfortable and welcome. Not bad service, but if your in a group setting, they rush through a bit. Wish that went smoother, but when my wife went by herself aside from her company outing, she was impressed with the little snowman they put on her feet and talks about the Pink Drink. read more

I really wanted to like this place, so much that I gave it a second chance. Unfortunately, I'm just done with them. It's too expensive for the poor service. I went in for my second service and the receptionist was not friendly or helpful at all. I had accidentally booked a service at 2nd street on line and needed to cancel. She was frustrated that I asked her for this and she told me I didn't have anything booked. I checked later and I still did. I had to call them to cancel it. Then she puts me by myself, in a section filled with children. There were two little girls wheeling up and down the aisles on the chairs that the technicians sit on. A mother was holding her crying baby while getting her service done. The baby spit up all over the floor and the mother used the technicians towel to clean it. The little girl kept stealing my polish bottle and just making a mess, both of them screaming while the mother said nothing. I was never given a drink menu, offered a drink or checked on by the receptionist. She did apologize for this when my service was over. She spent a lot of time cleaning the place after the family with the kids left and she did put a lot of attention into the cleaning. I was impressed with that. I had the seasonal pedicure and asked for nail art on each big toe. My technician said this was extra but I pointed out I didn't get a drink and I thought I could substitute a drink for nail art; she said she wasn't sure. My service was decent. The technician paid attention to the the fact that I was ticklish. She didn't help me put my flip flops on or give me glow spray but another technician noticed and took care of this. I was disappointed to discover that my polish chipped that day. After my service, $65 later, I was emailed a survey to complete. I put on that survey what I put on here and the manager left me a message to discuss the survey and get me back in to Soak. I called her twice and she never called me back. After sending them a message on face book, she finally called me. She offered me a free polish change, because my polish chipped, and a $5 credit. Really? From all of that, she gets my polished chipped? No screaming children, no children throwing up, no drink menu or drink? So in other words, I have to drive down there to get my polish changed and pay $60 instead of $65. Ummm, no. I will not be going back. This place is ran too poorly. Lime Spa it is! read more

Well, I do understand that people call in sick however, it is not correct to call 1 hour before your appt. for a pedicure to tell you they have to reschedule you because there is a more important party of 3 coming in. I had a very special pedicure scheduled with my sister who is from out of town and I was a regular at Soak until today. I think the pedicurist's are good however, the receptionists there seem to not care about customer service and don't care about accommodating a regular customer. They stated we only have a 1pm available, well I am not available to accommodate them, which is why I scheduled the appt. far in advance. Sorry SOAK but there are tons of nail salons that are happy to provide me with excellent service. BTW I get a pedicure at SOAK once a month, but who cares about Good Customer Service right? Guess what SOAK there are a lot of nail salons that have 5 star reviews and compared to your reviews, Hmm I think it's time to make some changes to your customer service, don't ya think? read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! I came to SOAK to get a shillac manicure with a regular pedi, paying $100 with tip and one drink! Within two hours of getting home, 3 of my nails had already started chipping off!! All I did was drive home and lay on the couch to watch tv. Nothing that should have caused my fresh shillac manicure to start chipping. Beyond upset because I was leaving the country at 8am the next morning for vacation, I gave them a call to see what my options were. They said the only thing they could do was get me another appointment later that week. I explained to them I was leaving the country the next morning and if there was any way they could just give me a partial refund or possibly a discount for my next manicure. NOPE. The only thing they could do was "schedule me later that week". Even the next day, talking on the phone with the general manager, who was absolutely rude and unprofessional, they still decided there was nothing they could do. I vowed I would NEVER go back and waste another cent on this awful place. I advise you not to waste your money there either, trust me, you'll regret it! read more

I made an appointment at SOAK at Foothill after a recommendation from a friend. She raved about a technician named Rose. I made the appt a week in advance and specifically asked for Rose, waited a week for the appointment. I arrived a few minutes early only to be informed that Rose isn't there. They said she called in as one of her children were ill/hurt. They said I was rescheduled with someone else. I asked why they hadn't called me and I could decide if I still wanted to keep the appointment. I showed her my nails and they assured me that the other technician could do the type of gel polish, an American manicure, and was experienced in it. She had me sit and the technician came over. I showed her my nails and questioned her about how she planned to do them. She had no clue what it took to do them the way they were done. I got up and left. What a waste of my time. Very disrespectful not to have called!!! They lost what would have been a good repeat customer who does manis and pedis. read more

I got a shellac mani on 4/22/13 it's supposed to last 3 to 4 weeks, this was about my 4th shellac mani so I was surprised when the color starting chipping off in little over a week. On 4/29 I called left a message with the receptionist explaining how disappointed I was and wanted to know what they could do. I left my name and phone number repeating it twice to make sure they got it. I never received a call back, so I called again on 5/1 again leaving my name and number and repeating slowly, but again no call back. I thought I would go to the salon and show them my nails. The receptionist Dawn stated that oh that shouldn't have happened. I told her that I left 2 messages and the dates and no one called me back. She said she needed to talk to her manager and they would call me and let me know what they would do. Well I did get a call back on my work number telling me sorry it's out of the 2 week range. They left the message on Sunday, well last time I looked Sunday was a day within the 2 weeks. Someone from Soak called my home number on Tuesday 5/6/13 and told my husband they were trying to schedule a complementary visit he asked them to call me at work after 1:00 PM. Surprise Surprise it's now 5/9/13 and no ever called. I guess customer service doesn't mean anything to them. Unfortunately for them they aren't the only game in town. At $48.00 a visit including the tip I would expect it to last more than a week. Nice place unless you have problem! read more

If I could give them one star I would have. My adult daughter and I went, both had pretty much the same experience. First we had an appointment and waited for about 15 minutes in the chair. Then the techs came out, nice people but more mall worthy than spa worthy. No callus removal, just roughed the heels up real good so that my feed snagged on the carpet in my car on the drive home. My daughters were the same, so rough and snagging we had to go from Soak to another pedi place to have them fixed after 65.00. The massage went just very slightly above my ankles, not a leg massage. The nail polish was just ok, put some stuff on it that made it look like it was chipping off. Not what I requested but by then I was done. Paid and tipped cuz I don't believe in punishing the techs, they are clearly trained on sub standard service. Survey was received and I gave my phone, name and email, no response.....shocking. My daughter called and spoke to the manager who said she would speak to the owner...no response again after several days. Called again, and again, and again, owner said she didn't know she was supposed to respond. To a complaint. Times two. Said she would " investigate" but what we don't know, still no response. Bottom line, save your money, better service to be had just about ANYWHERE, they charge premium price for strip mall product. read more
