Haven't been here for a few years due to Covid and they were closed and the started opening late. Anyway we decided to give it a go and stopped on our way home about 4 PM, place was dead, like 6 people in the whole place but we decided to try it anyway. I ordered ribs (duh!!) and my wife opted for the salmon. We ate at the bar and had a very pleasant bartender, Rhyan as I recall. Anyway, all I can say is this was the best meal I've had at Smokey Bones, ribs were done to perfection, my wife thoroughly enjoyed hers also. We came away with a new respect for the restaurant. Bathrooms .. trashed 1/3 of tables not bussed (at 3pm) Order placed and apps showed up. One was wrong. Server replaced after we asked why portion was wrong. Meal showed .. 3 of 6 items cold and 1 item missing. 2 tables around us left before orders placed due to slow server and dirty tables. 2 people. 1 slab ribs, 16 wings, 1 bowl of Brunswick stew, and 1 app of 8 cubes of fried pork belly. $100 bucks. Not worth it. Took 3 asks to server to remove side that was never delivered. Asked for manager. Showed up 10 mins later. Told him about bathrooms, people who left, our food issues. He said thank you and walked away. Apathy at its best. Told him, I have had many $100 meals...and this was not one of them. No apology, no how can we fix it, "Thank You" and walk away. Smoked wings were good. Give the whole experience a D+. Clientele there has changed. Overall same as Red Lobster and Olive Garden. Bad service, poor quality, and dirty surroundings are more acceptable for them. We are not going back. read more

Fantastic place to eat comfort food. I don't think there's anything on the menu less than 1000 calories, but if that's stopping you then you're just wrong. Our server Bobby was absolutely phenomenal. Dinner was alright, the flat top grill was out so most food couldn't be cooked. Mashed potato's tasted like the came out of a box, bacon tasted like it had been reheated, pulled pork was dry without sauce. Service was very slow, wasn't that busy. Meant to write this sooner, but as the old adage states, "It's never too late." Ordered the smoked wings about a month ago (via carry-out) and they were truly the BEST that I've gotten from Smokey Bones thus far (or anywhere else for that matter), as they were extremely plump, juicy, saucy, and cooked to perfection--just downright delicious, to sum it up in a nutshell. There was a nice mix of drums and flats, and you just can't beat the sweet and savory glaze that is drizzled on them (we always order extra!) nor their Ranch dressing, which is always super fresh, tastes homemade, and compliments the wings to perfection. Although my previous review included a few complaints, I certainly still attest to their having THE absolute best wings over all competing restaurants (especially if you love SMOKE flavor), and may just be returning this weekend to enjoy another batch on our patio before the weather turns too cool. An all around great disappointment. Decent and quick service is the only reason why this rating is not lower. I ordered a Brisket Sandwich the quality of the meat was quite low a lot more fat and grissle than I would expect. As to the flavor of the meat... I couldn't tell... it was drowning in mayo and cheese. This might be expected at a seafood place or a burger place but with a name like Smokey Bones... I would assume that smoked meat would be thier speciality... very subpar and disappointing. read more

We went around 4 on a Sat. it was not busy. We ordered the bonfire and salads. After 30 min my husband asked about the salads. They went and got his salad but, not mine when we asked about it the server said ohh you wanted one too. I said yes I ordered one, About 15 min later I got my salad and the food. After I was done with my salad the food was getting cold because they brought it at the same time. The server said sorry for the waits we had a to go order we had to work on. They really need to hire more people or let them write down the orders if they are not able to remember them. I guess to go orders are more important then the customers in the dinning room. My parents & I used to come quite frequently. The servers were so personable & the food was so delicious! Over time; however, the service continued to be great, but our ribs almost always were dry, with burnt ends & we'd end up returning the food. We felt like complainers...but rightfully so. The other night I really was missing Smokey Bones ( over year+ since I'd been), & asked my father to take me . Ashley, our server was gracious as ever! The ribs...OMG.....what happened?! Come to find out, about a year and a half ago, Brent, the rib chef, was transferred to the Pickerington location. WOW!!! The ribs fell off the bone! They were moist & tasty!! I also want to point out I had asked for Tamara, who had served us regularly in the past. She was not working. I must say-Ashley did NOT disappoint! See you all soon! read more

We have eaten at this establishment many times. Our last visit there was not so good, we took a break and didn't want to go back for a while. We decided to back tonight and it was another bad experience. The food took 40 minutes to get to the table, I only saw 3 tables in the whole restaurant. My husband's burger was requested to be cooked medium, it was very well done. So I don't think we will be going back again. Mentor just has so many other choices for dining. read more

We started with a 25 minute wait with a room full of empty tables. The host and hostess were not helpful. She stood at the front on her phone sipping her drink. She could have at least said she was sorry for the wait. Wouldn't have been so bad had we not heard the manager tell them to hold the people for 20 minutes because the kitchen was behind. It was obvious they were struggling to keep up with only two people in the kitchen. They could have at least sat people at their table a f given them time to get a drink and read the menu. The waiting area isn't large enough for all the people that had to stand and wait. The take out orders weren't ready either. Once we got seated our waitress Amanda was very nice. The appetizer was cornbread and it came out quickly. However with the appetizer came my daughters broccoli that was supposed to come with her meal??? Odd!!! The bar drinks were very weak. We ordered four and they were all weak. Tasty but weak. The cornbread is very good. Not very corny but sweet and warm. I had the Hawaiian steak it was very good. Baked potato loaded was great. I also had the apples which were sweet and cinnamony. My husband had the baby back ribs. They were excellent and fell off the bone. The coleslaw was terrible. Very vinegary. Daughter had the pasta with tomato sauce. It had barely any sauce and very little flavor. For dessert the chocolate cake was amazing. We split it three ways and we were stuffed!! Went for lunch and was looking forward to some good bbq. I know that restaurants in general are struggling with staffing but when it takes 20+ minutes for someone to take our order when there are only 4 occupied tables, this is unacceptable. At the same time some staff were taking selfies off to the side. As for the food, my wife had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the brisket. Both were very good. I would definitely recommend either of these. The beans were average and Mac and cheese was 8 out of 10. Overall the food was good and made the overall experience tolerable. I may try them again and if the service remained the same I would not recommend them but it improves I would definitely recommend them. read more

Had dinner at Smoky Bones in mentor. Server said be careful the plates are hot. It's the only thing that was. 5 meals and there one one slab of ribs and sausage that were warm. The rest of all 5 plates were cold. They brought over 4 plates with microwaved broccoli. Then we waited for 2 full meals that they were supposed to remake for 20 minutes so that 3 people were done eating by the time the other 2 got their dinners. Manager not really very apologetic and didnt offer to comp anything. There were only 5 tables in the whole place with people at them. Hate to see what would happen if they were busy. We headed here late last night and based on reviews we weren't sure what kind of service or how the food would be but it was great! Brittany was our server and she was great! Super attentive and super sweet! Our food was delicious!! We had the mac and cheese loaded with meat, the loaded bake potato and salad, a pulled park sandwich and the super burger (I can't remember the name- hamburger, fried pickles, coleslaw and pulled pork- DELICIOUS)- all of it was amazing!! All three of us ordered the Texas Style Beef Brisket Platter and for $17.99 it was a great portion plus you get two sides. I love coleslaw that is actually creamy and this coleslaw did not disappoint. The onion rings were okay, but honestly nothing to write home about. I did love the garlic bread and am wondering if I was supposed to get two pieces because that is what the picture shows, but I digress. I have had brisket in Cleveland, I have even had pretty decent brisket in Cleveland, but nothing prepared me for the brisket Smokey Bones serves up. They give you the meat and they don't mess around with giving you a little meat and the rest is pretty much inedible. It was juicy, it was flavorful and I even had some to take home and enjoy later that evening. I hate chains - even small chains and yet trust me when I say Smokey Bones is doing it right. I cannot wait to go back and try the brisket again, plus I look forward to trying the rest of their menu too. Our waitress Angie was a delight. She was honest (everyone I spoke with while there seemed very laid back, but not so laid back that they forgot their customers) and funny and I loved her tattoos. Also she made sure to keep checking on us and Angie absolutely made the experience that much more enjoyable. Smokey Bones is great and we shall be returning soon. MY family and I used to go here 2 to 3 times a month. About one year ago, my husband became ill, and our dinners out had to stop. Last night, I wanted to treat my daughter and her husband and child to a nice dinner out, so we decided to go there. The place has changed in the space of a year. My "build your own" cheeseburger was pretty pink inside even though I'd asked for well done.. The son-in-law ordered the steak, which he enjoyed. My daughter ordered the southwest mac and cheese which is supposed to have Jalapeños, chicken & salsa, Cheddar Jack, & crushed tortilla chips. She received a dish that tasted like tuna helper. We all tried it and agreed. Very little chicken, one miniscule bit of Jalapeño pepper about the size of a hangnail. No tortilla chips. The benches we sat on were painful. We each experienced back pain from the bottom slat of wood and had to roll up our coats to pad the booths. But they kept falling through to the floor, so we'd have to get up and crawl under the table to drag them out, roll them up, etc. several times. The worst part was when I had to go to the ladies' room to change our 2-year-old's diaper. There is no diaper changing station in the men's room (SEXIST: SOMETIMES DADS DO TAKE THE KIDS OUT). The ladies' room was FREEZING. This is January, in Cleveland. No heat whatsoever. The poor baby had his teeth chattering and was shivering. Now, last year, my husband and I took our grandson to this place very often. We had to change diapers and the ladies room used to be heated. Also, no warm water to wash hands from the sinks. I left that hot water faucet running the entire time I changed the diaper and it was still icy cold by the time I was done. I'm leaving two stars based on our waitress' wonderful service. I highly doubt we will ever go back there now. It's a shame. It used to be so good. read more

My brother ordered a medium cooked 12 oz steak, and he got a well done that was more like a 6 oz. they insisted it was a 12oz, but I call bs. Service was awful. I love food. All types, barbecue especially. There is nothing more fascinating yet delicious about the process in which food becomes barbecue. The slow cooking, the smoke, the time, the energy, and the heart all somehow combine with an artistic array of ingredients to make a food so good that your mouth waters just thinking about it. Here at smokey bones you won't get any of that. I'm at the point where I believe that there is nothing more detrimental to good food that mcdonalizing it and selling it in franchises. Here at smokey bones that exactly what they've done. You will find a wonderful selection of mediocre and soul-less dishes here, all served in heaping portions. If you really enjoy this place, I question how you live your life. I know this is Ohio, it's not known per say for great BBQ. But any person who has emotion will know this is one sad thing that has happened here. I got ribs, a full slab, with two sides. The ribs were supposed to be "st.louis" style, however they were not anything like st. louis style bbq. Plus the additional sauce they provide is even more lame, some how the sauce just tastes greasy more than anything. The ribs where cooked ok, a little tougher than what I know but they were cooked ok. The flavor was just terrible. In short, this place is anti-food, don't go. It's lame. read more

It was a good overall experience. The smoked food was cooked/smoked well. Appetizer tasted good. The wait staff was very attentive and was very good. Then the wife and I found out it was only the second day the waitress was waiting tables solo. She did a great job. Kudos to the training of new staff members to the management. This may be a very small chain - I'm just not that sure and didn't have time to really research it - besides - you are reading this because it's a review. Went here for lunch with two colleagues and our server's name was Charles - very nice gentlemen - almost like I was down south where the service is always friendly. We each ordered something a bit different from one another and all three meals were served together and in a very timely manner - considering this was lunch and I needed to get the training done - time was important and it met my plan! The food was great and they were accommodating to my requests. I wanted the pulled pork BBQ sandwich without of course the bread - that way I saved carb counting to the french fries that were really delicious. In fact - the pulled pork was good and the brewed ice tea - perfect! + Place was clean - prices were reasonable - service and speed were good - and the variety was great. So - let me end with the phenomenal soup - yep - it was that good! Every day is different and I'd be willing to try them ALL! In a word, intense. Everything here is maximized, from the nearly ridiculous rustic huge rough hewn logs holding up the front porch, to the incredibly fast service, to the super sweet butter for our cornbread. Even our server was incredibly friendly and fast (drinks came out in almost a minute!) I had a salad with strawberries, fried chicken tenders, dijon dressing and goat cheese (how deliciously surprising to find goat cheese at a chain restaurant!) and it was lovely. My friend had a burger and baked potato, very good as well and amazingly fast. The menu is just a few pages but everything sounds good, even the donuts for dessert with chocolate and strawberry sauce. Everything had so much flavor, I could only eat a bit of the salad (might get the dressing on the side next time) but it was good. They also have a large bar, tv's, and a sound system to hear the tv's at your table (though it's hard to position yourself in a place to see them well). I would definitely come back! Now I must admit at this one I never consumed a beverage because yesterday I sat at the bar 10 mins. and the bartender was slammed and didn't even say hi and didn't smile and so I left. And then today for lunch I went in and there was no hostess around 2 p.m. and there was (possibly the same one?) a bartender doing other...stuff and I left after waiting and I believe the couple waiting in front of me left too. Last night the guy standing at the bar next to me when I wanted to eat also left and I left when he did. So in actuality I owe the bartender a drink at BRAVO! next door because that meal was divine, thank you very much actually. read more

Very good decor! Server was nice! Place was busy do to Mother's Day I had the fish and chips shore the fish was not fresh fried looked frozen tasted frozen. My wife had the beef brisket tasted ok but looked like mush on a plate not Good. They forgot my vinegar. They forgot the Mac cheese. The cole slaw was way to wet I almost choked on it gggggaggggg Had three people that were involved in my table not good. I see this place has a number of low ratings, but for all intents and purposes this is one of the better bbq places I have been to in NE Ohio. Now to be clear, this is not one of the best places I've ever eaten for bbq as it is a chain, but overall they do a good job. I do not drink so my review is not based on alcohol but simply food. Every once in a while when we go their service is a little slow but that is usually pretty good as well. The food is quite tasty. They have a number of options to choose from ranting from smoked meats to sandwiches to even pasta. I've enjoyed basically everything I've gotten there with the exception of the Cuban sandwich which was very skimpy on meat. I'd recommend this if you like ribs also because they do a good job of smoking them and retaining the smoke ring. read more

I start this by saying I hate barbeque sauce and most anything thats slathered in it. But....We checked this place out a few weeks ago and I was very impressed. I say this coming from someone who hasn't experienced true authentic KC, Louisana, Carolina, or TX barbeque or whereverelse that crazy blend of sauces comes from. I ordered the pulled pork entree with a side of coleslaw and smashed red skins. Loved it! all because it had no sauce at all on it and they have quite a selection of sauces to choose from at the table. So I choose the Caroline Moppin and the Chipotle, really spiced things up. He had a pick 4 with about everything on the menu, he was impressed as much as I was. For the price and atmosphere, it was a good place for him to get his meat fix and for me to come out of my barbeque shell. We will be back. Simply put, not so impressed. But I should have figured/known better what I got myself into. It was my mothers idea, take out there, with the 10 dollars for 20 dollars worth of food. The place is known for barbecue, ribs, burgers I guess... I decided to try their new Asian Chicken Pasta Cream...thing.. because I'm not a fan of barbecue to much... I was figuring something good with grilled chicken with a bunch of flavors on top, with alot of sauces like they smear sauces all over their meats.. but on the pasta..... turned out to be a big fat no. Was in a little container, and looked like something from a microwave meal dish. Unhappy, I ended up putting it in the fridge the next day and doctoring it up with my own sauce homemade on the stove to make it actually have a taste.
