Attended as part of a group. We had to flag staff to take our order and food was incorrectly ordered. It was delicious and they did not charge us for the food we did not order but were served. It was a touch too loud and had to shout to hear the person next to me. read more

Smith is an excellent restaurant! I recently went to Smith with a gal group that I am a part of and I was very impressed with the food quality and the service. The service was a bit slow the day we were there, but probably because we were such a big group. I had the breakfast poutine with mushroom gravy and it was excellent. They have a limited selection of vegetarian options, but the ones they do have are delicious and served warm and fresh. They also have an excellent selection of mimosa flavors. They were a great spot for brunch on the hill. The staff were very nice, kind, and efficient and gave great recommendations. The vibe was very much western traditional meets casual. I really liked the vibe and the music (although a bit loud). Overall, myself and my group had a great time and I highly recommend Smith for a good brunch! read more

Delicious brunch at Smith today. Great bloody Mary's, shakshuka and chilaquiles. The huevos rancheros were different - real meaty (instead of the typical beans) and without any sauce... still good but mom said she probably won't order them again. This was my first time at Smith for brunch... it was fun to see the suave in daylight. I loved the laid back morning vibe. read more

Came here for Valentine's Day, so they had a preset menu. They were having a great deal at $50 for 2 people. It included a salad, one appetizer, 2 entrees and one dessert. The salad itself was good with a house vinaigrette. We chose the calamari as the appetizer and it was perfectly crisp. For our entrees, we ordered the salmon that came with orzo and a white wine sauce and a 10 oz sirloin that came with potatoes and broccolini. I enjoyed both of these dishes a lot and preferred the salmon, but I typically prefer seafood dishes. For dessert, we ordered the NY cheesecake which came with some fruit and it was the perfect ending to a meal. Overall, the service here was great and I enjoyed all of our food. I would come back here. read more

I came here for brunch with a party of 8 on a Saturday with a reservation. This place is also street parking only. The interior was interesting with various paintings, portraits, and taxidermy (along with Halloween decor for the season). I enjoyed the space a lot and the service was nice. I got the breakfast poutine with the duck gravy and it was pretty decent. Others at my table got chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, etc. and no one was wowed. Overall, the food was meh but the space was cool. read more

I mean... 50 cent wings on Wednesdays? You can't go wrong with that! The wings itself were a bit dry and their sauce collection was minimal, but damn. The deal makes it delicious that's for sure! The service was perfectly fine. Our order got out quickly, which we always love. They have a nice little outdoor patio perfect for the summer nights! I haven't been any other time besides their wing days, but I do want to try their happy hour read more

The Chicken Marsala with grilled asparagus was a nice square meal. The sauce was rich and creamy and clung to the protein and veggies super well. There was also shaved Parmesan over the chicken for extra decadence. The house salad had an interesting use of oyster sauce in the vinaigrette which was very noticeable but made the salad unique and a bold contrast with the Marsala sauce on the main. I'll definitely have the chicken Marsala again - I hope it'll be consistently good in the future! read more

Visiting from Houston and stopped in for a late dinner on a Sunday. It wasn't busy and Uriel (sp?) the bar tender was running a one-man show. Service was attentive, drinks were great, food was good, and ambiance was cozy and comfortable. The Brussels sprout appetizer was amazing. We were told that the place suffered under previous management but that new management had made changes - based on our experience Smith is back. Give it a try Seattle. Cheers! read more

4.5/5 Came here for a surprise engagement party. The owners were nice enough to host us and accommodate our decorations and other requests. Ambiance - real "old school pub" vibes here. Bar takes up a bulk of the room with wood booths lining one of the walls. They have a garage style door near the entrance that they opened up which was perfect in the summer time. Also outdoor seating available. Service - service was top notch, we were a large party of over 15 people and they took care of each and every one of us. Food - shared the rigatoni vodka and the Brussel sprouts. Both good, nothing really "stand out" but just a decent bowl of pasta. read more

Cold water was provided right away, but there was no AC. Their Cucumber Refresher was something new that I liked. Their Cesar salad was smaller than I expected, but it turned out to be a good amount for me. read more

We have lived in North Capitol Hill for 17 years and have seen Smith switch management a few times now. The latest switch with Abraham has improved quality and service a great deal. This brunch spot had outdoor and indoor seating and street parking. I got there at 12pm and it wasn't busy at all. Service was great and food came out quickly. Their eggs Benedict was good, but didn't stand out to be anything special to me. Overall decent food and excellent service. read more

Came for brunch, but unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. The salmon Benedict arrived slightly cold, and the smoked salmon and avocado had a mushy texture. The cocktails were overly sweet, and the overall balance of flavors felt off. Everything just seemed a little off--maybe I caught them on a bad day. read more

We were a group of five. Our service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had a huge burger and fries that lasted me for days as leftovers. Even when the place emptied out and I thought they were going to ask us to leave, they told us "please stay, we're here for you." read more

I came here with my friend before a show next door at the Comedy Club Seattle. Smith has a cool old timey bar and offers amazing craft cocktails. We ordered the most refreshing drink called the Lavender Empress. It was a summer delight. Not too sweet with the distinct taste of lavender. We also shared a chicken marsala that had fresh mushrooms and a light creamy sauce. We only had 45 minutes before the show, and our food came out in 15 minutes. The bartender was attentive and provided great service. The restaurant also has an outdoor area as well. I intend to return to try more menu items. The casual hip vibe was perfect for meeting up with a friend. read more

This used to be an amazing restaurant with a cool vibe, interesting menu, and great bespoke drinks. Now, it just seems...empty. No hosts at the door most times, mediocre service, and predictable food. The drinks are still great. The location is so awesome and could be turned into an interesting experience again. Needs some TLC. read more

Terrible brunch. Really mediocre. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the croque madam. The croque madam was so so oily that you couldn't really taste anything else. They used a mixed shredded cheese on top instead of Gruyère that really over powered it. The bread was way too thick compared to the contents so it just kinda tasted like bread you dunked in oil and melted cheese from Costco on it in the microwave. The chicken and waffles tasted like it was cooked in really old oil and the waffles were so hard that they cut up the roof of your mouth. There are a lot of better brunch places out there that also don't cost $$$$. Felt a bit robbed when we left because we just couldn't stomach anything served. The service also was extremely slow. read more

The food was really good and we loved everything we had. I also love that their patio was dog friendly and partly covered/shaded as I burn easily but still like to be a sun lizard if I can. The servers were very kind and helpful. The only drawbacks were that the kitchen service seemed very slow. It took a long time for our food to come out. Also, the patio was great but quite dusty and it left marks on our clothes if we bumped up against tables or chairs and our dogs' paws were super dirty after. We would still come back but I wouldn't plan anything that wasn't flexible right after. read more

I'm writing to share my disappointment with the experience my party had during our recent visit on Sunday, Oct. 5th. First, we were charged for two coffees instead of one, unless they think top-offs are considered two cups of coffee? I was also charged for a beer that was suppose to be on my sisters tab. The breakfast was cold and not very good, and the service was very poor. Staff seemed more focused on decorating for Halloween than checking on our table or ensuring we were taken care of. On top of that, a 20% tip was automatically added, even though we were a party of five adults and one one year old, not six adults - the waitress did not deserve that kind of tip! Overall, the experience was disappointing from start to finish and we will never go back there again. read more

Great little brunch spot! Aye outside with amazing sunny weather, good service. Food was excellent! I'd go back!

Charming neighborhood spot with a great happy hour menu. I tried the pork chop which was cooked and seasoned well and came with rich polenta and well seasoned collard greens. I had their steak and fries to go. I like how they give you a massive amount of fries. At first I thought it was overkill. But I actually ended up eating nearly all of em. As for the steak, I think they should season it more. I think they rely on you pouring the chimichurri sauce on it but I didn't like that sauce. So the steak was 100% plain, it wasn't even salted. I'll still give it a decent rating though because it very tender and cooked perfectly. read more

Came here for brunch! Stylish, sophisticated interior with a rustic vibe (lots of taxidermy) Food: -Eggs in Purgatory ($15.5): Poached Eggs swimming in Tart Plum Tomatoes sprinkled with crumbled feta -Brioche French Toast ($14.5): not overly sweet, lightly battered with an interesting banana puree on top. I liked the salty-sweet combo with the crispy prosciutto (wish there was more of it) and the chili-dusted nuts The food was beautifully presented but in my opinion, fell short a bit on flavor. I did like how nothing was super heavy though! read more

Okay, I am a huge fan of Linda Derschang. And though she no longer owns Smith, the new owners have really kept to the Derschang atmosphere, making this restaurant and bar quirky, fun, with elements of eclectic and old-fashioned charm. I love, love, love the vibes at Smith. My friend and I visited for Sunday brunch and we came here half an hour after it opened, which was smart because soon after we arrived, the entire place was packed. By the time we left, there was a line outside the door. Get here early, folks! Smith is a popular spot for brunch (and likely everything else). My friend and I shared the poutine, which was my favorite item! The poutine was a dish made of hand-cut fries that were smothered with gravy, thick cheese curds and a fried egg on top. We also chose to add duck confit for some meaty goodness, which is how the gravy is made. It's a heavy dish, so is great for sharing. Though, no judgements at all if you order this as an entrée because it's one of the best poutines I've ever had! For an entrée, I ordered the burger and added gruyere cheese with. Snaps that Smith offers cheese options beyond cheddar for the burger. The burger was solid and it's a hefty one at half a pound. In fact, it's served on a cutting board, so yeah, it only adds to the immenseness of the burger. However, the only issue is that I asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it sadly was overcooked. It was still juicy, but it could've been outstanding. With that said, it would've easily been a five-star review had the burger been cooked to my preference. BUT, Smith is still awesome! The food was delicious, the staff were suppppper friendly, even with how busy the place got, and I absolutely love the décor here. Yes, the toile wallpaper in the bathroom spoke to me. I definitely will be back at Smith, to explore more of what this wonderful restaurant has to offer. read more

The worst !! Place says it was supposed to close at 11 pm a Saturday night, got there at 9.30 and the host tell us that the kitchen it closed, and the bartender wasn't very thrilled to see us. Customer service and sales is not the priority, maybe the owner should reconsider their employees because they aren't working for his/her interests. Came from NYC to visit and saw social media videos about the place and was very excited, it's very disappointing after spending time and money to come to this place. read more

We live around the corner and are not regulars. There's a reason. The food is what I'd call edible. Just like how a single dried mushroom is edible. The duck poutine is clumped. Everything is just sad. This last time, our appetizer and entrees came at the same time, and all were cold. Who even is our server? We've been trying to pay for the past 15 minutes, just let us leave, please? How we come back every few months and try again is beyond me. read more

I live in the neighborhood and have patronized Smith on and off over the years. It used to be a great spot, but prices have increased as quality & atmosphere declines. They've stopped doing their early evening happy hour. It's now from 8:30pm onward. There are so many spots on 15th - I'm not going to pay full price for a beer at Smith when I can get one for half the price at a happy hour down the street. It's a recent change, but it's really poorly communicated and certainly a bad move. read more

I was super excited to come to Smith, since I have heard good things about it from friends! Fortunately, even though we came on a Saturday night, the restaurant was pretty empty and we were able to seat ourselves. I wasn't too hungry so I decided on the Duck Poutine (Small), which actually was on the Starters part of the menu. When it came out it was huge! I'm so glad I opted for a small, since I had trouble finishing it. The poutine itself was great and came with tons of cheese curds, but I think the star of the dish was the duck confit. I am a huge fan of duck and Smith really does the confit right. I would come back just for that dish. The one downside is that the service took a bit long. I had to flag down the waitress to order, and again for the check. The food took a while as well, but it was worth. read more

Waitress was kind. Patio seating was lovely on a sunny day. Interior was meticulously decorated with framed images and taxidermy heads. Dark and moody yet hip.
