1/2 We stopped by and tried the black bean vegetarian burger. We wanted Swiss cheese on it, but they were out, so we just got it without cheese. The burger was decent, but without the cheese it felt a bit dry. A little more sauce would have helped. Service was surprisingly slow considering there was barely anyone there at the time. On the positive side, I liked the ambience. They have their own seating area with booths, which makes it nice and comfortable to sit and eat. Overall, it was just an okay experience for us this time. Nothing terrible, but definitely a few things that could be better. We'll give them another chance and see how it goes next time. read more

First time going to smash burger. Went to the location inside Menlo Park mall. The line moved fast and the associate was very polite when they took my order. I ordered a bacon stack smash burger and regular sized smash fries. The burger was great and moist. The fires were good as well. I didn't use ketchup on them. My order was to go There isn't really a waiting area. You have to stand by the soda dispenser or by tables and I felt like I was in people's way. read more

This Smashburger location is one of the best I've experienced. The staff is upbeat, personable, friendly, and helpful. The managers and shift leaders, from everything I've seen, are well liked and the way they interact with the staff shows. The food is fresh, tasty and made quickly. The physical space is older, and it shows as simple age always does, but ownership has been upgrading and improving the space. This location was a rough spot several years ago, and if you'd been here then, I could see your trepidation in returning. That said, the new leadership and crew they have working there today, and the level of care they put into the work shows. Definitely a location worth returning to, or eating at regularly! read more

The cashier initially ignored me and then asked me to wait while they finished unpacking supplies! When my order was finally taken, the burger came out looking and tasting horrible. The fries seemed like a mix of plain fries and pepper fries, which I did not order. This restaurant has gone way down in quality which explains why I was the only customer in there during lunchtime. I stopped in and ordered a smashed bacon burger and a chocolate shake. The burger was very good and juicy and the bacon was crispy which is how I like it. The chocolate shake was good as well and they gave me the mixer cup so I had extra and got my money worth. My family and I ate here tonight. It took us over 30 minutes to get our food, which our fries were FREEZING. this lady kept being nasty and telling us "we are closed" when we had not gotten our food yet. The only lady that I would say should stay is the girl with the pink hair who told us we can stay and finish eating. She was polite and gave us the leftover tots. We stayed and tried to eat a bit because our food was already cold and we were starving after waiting 30-35 minutes to which that other lady came and started telling us we need to leave and they're closed after we were just told to stay. She was extremely rude and honestly, if I were smashburger, I'd fire her for that. Speaking as someone in the food/hospitality industry, I would never speak to people the way she did. read more

Food seems okay, provided you actually eat burgers. I found not many options for anything vegan which is fine but what I got was almost drenched in oil, it was almost unacceptable. Service was not the worst but also not something too special. Atmosphere was average at best, it was at least giving restaurant vibes. I came here to get some lunch with some friends. The staff: They seemed very friendly but can be a little more outgoing by talking to the customers. Crispy Chicken: This was fried to the point where it did not taste good at all. The chicken was dry and I had to force myself to finish it. Tater Tots: These were very delicious but I feel like it was a bit greasy and not enough in quantity. Grilled Chicken: The chicken was juicy just the way I like it and it had just enough flavor to it. Side Salad: This could have been a little better if the chicken didn't taste like something I can get from Wendy's or Mc Donalds. The chicken to this definitely taste different that the grilled chicken sandwich. Overall: This restaurant seems OK with the food but the restaurant can use some cleaning at times since the tables were a bit dirty. read more

The brisket burger is pretty darn good and hella meaty to say the least. I got the double and was pleasantly surprised.

Having late lunch here now. I ordered triple double with no cheese and Smash fries. The order came out fast and served hot. The seasoned beef patties taste great and blended well with onions, lettuce and tomatoes. The Smash Fries was seasoned well and delicious. I could finish three of this triple double smash burger specially when I'm starving. Their burgers are small, but taste good. Their bathrooms are out of order. Friendly and courteous staff. Serving portions are small. Their burgers are little bit bigger than White Castle, I observed. But they have lettuce, tomatoes and fresh onions on their burgers. White Castle has caramel iced onions on their burger. read more

Ok this is Friday night review around 7pm. The food court was pretty busy all over especially chick fil a, not wanting to wait in long lines I tried smash Burger. Should have known as there was no line that it would suck, and it did!. Sucked like a vacuum. If you saw stranger things season 3 with the food court,you will get the same vibe coming here, including Nancy wheeler look alike taking your order which was pretty cool. And she was super nice and did a great job. Ok the problem with this place is the combination of low quality food and the time it took for it to get to my table. I mixed it up with a crispy chicken sandwich and regular fries. Simple right.it took 25 minutes to be put on my table from the time I ordered it. 25 minutes in food court time might as well be 2 weeks. Then the fries were like stale tasting and not barely warm like they had the fries ready sitting there for 20 mins before they threw together my crispy chicken sandwich. so the fries sucked. The crispy chicken sandwich was average. Nowhere near as good as any other chicken sandwich anywhere in the food court, they use one big flat piece of lettuce on it with mayo on too of that so when you take a bite the chicken will slide right out. Easy fix, put the lettuce under the chicken and mayo on top, more friction, less slipping. Anyway I'll never go back there. Any place in the food court is a better choice. read more

In the mood for a nice juicy burger and decided to come here to satisfy my needs and oh man, how disappointing! First, the server and cashier's manner are very polite and friendly. I ordered a classic burger with everything on it meaning lettuce, tomato, pickles onions, mustard and ketchup and American cheese. I added the combo option and inside of fries, paid extra for the sweet potato fries. When the meal came out, the presentation and smell is delicious. As soon as I bite into my burger, I tasted the loaded salt on the beef patty. Damn, my blood pressure probably went straight up the roof! It felt like the cook accident dropped the salt bucket on beef patty. I have had their classic burgers before at other smash burger locations and never had I experience this. Thank goodness for the bread that helps bland out the salty taste. Unless if they change their beef patty tastes, I will not come back here. read more

We walked in, there was a bit of a wait in line but that's expected when at the mall, the cashier taking our order was a bit rude and didn't display much customer care/service which is a contrast from the smashburger near my house that we normally go to. The burger also took a long time to be delivered to our table. The burger was really yummy as always, and I also got a milkshake for the first time and it was worth the price. That being said I want to make a shout out to Analys, the cashier who was a doll. She helped me use a coupon, was very nice and patient. I always stick to the Classic Burger (comes with American cheese, Smash Sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, onion & pickles on an egg bun) and a side of Smash fries (thinly sliced fried with rosemary, garlic & olive oil). The burger has been consistently good. The patties are seasoned and don't taste frozen, I have no yet had an overcooked burger. But the fries are the highlight of the show. As many times as I have dined at a Smashburger, this is my first time reviewing one and it's only because my server was the best. Brittany took my order, was very patient, informative and suggestive. I've had some bad hosts, but she gave me no issues. I ordered my usual, Cobb salad with a black bean patty (they have the best black bean patties) with sweet potato fries. I can see why other consumers didn't give this place a good rating. The only other Smashburger locations are in North Brunswick and in Clark that are close by me including Menlo Park mall. It was lunch time and the girl taking orders was also running food to the tables and clearing them as well. The past 6 years I have ordered the same thing, "truffle mushroom Swiss grilled chicken sandwich". The truffle oil that they use is out of this world and it hasn't change at all in the past few years but the cook messed my order up and gave me beef instead and I ate the smash fries in the meantime while the order was being fixed. This is the first time it didn't taste right. I love their egg bread rolls but it must have been really old because it was hard and flaky kind of. Idk I personally continue to go here because I get the same thing every time but I would agree that it isn't a very clean restaurant and they are in desperate need of more workers. read more

Pretty standard Smashburger, but definitely on the dirtiest side. The whole place smelled sour, and there was a lot of trash that nobody cleaned up. Service was slow, but too bad; at least not as bad as these reviews seem to make it out to be. I ordered the classic smash with grilled chicken and honestly was pretty good. I don't know what people expect from a fast food joint, but I was okay with it. The burger is a bit too salty, but again, are you looking for something really amazing at smash burger? The smash fries are my favorite and they were still really good when I ordered them. They are very oily, but the flavor is delicious! I definitely felt sick after eating them because of how oily they were, but that's my own fault for not being able to resist my temptations. While I would love to give food service workers the benefit of the doubt (as I worked in food service for a few years), the attitude of the woman who took my order was abysmal. After waiting in an unattended line for about 10 minutes, I made my order for a double turkey burger. Only when I was waiting to receive my purchase and looking over the receipt did I notice the oversight in that the employee input a double smash burger. I informed her that there was a mistake and that I was willing to pay the difference as long as I received the turkey. She huffed and angrily stormed off to the back for around 4 minutes without acknowledging me at all after she confirmed that she misheard my order. Once I received it, I asked if I could receive cutlery as well and she had the audacity to roll her eyes at me! That's not behavior I expect from someone who looks like she's been working her entire adult life. In addition to that, when I finally sat down to have my burger, it was the most over-salted monstrosity I've ever had the misfortune of eating. Either this branch lacks adequate quality control or the employee who took my order decided to go back and pettily salt my burger. Pathetically slow service and inconsistent quality. They have cashiers double as servers. Usually just 1 cashier because the other one has to go serve and they rotate. They should take a look at how Chick-Fila on the other side work. I always wished Menlo Park could have a better burger place since both Wendys and Smashburger sucks at quality and speed.
