The double western cheeseburger with fries. Looks a lot better than it was. You have been warned!
Michael B.

Way back in the mists of time, Johnny Carson once joked, "I just saw that McDonald's served their 100th million hamburger. They've had to have killed what, six cows by now?" Well, I'm afraid that applies to Smashburger as well. Look, I know that a smashburger by its nature is supposed to be thin. I also know that prices at the airport are wince-inducing by nature. But this sadly is the extent of my excuses for this place. I'll give one star for the decent service and the Arnold Palmer. But as to the rest? Ehh...it's a crowded, chaotic mess inside (again, it's the airport) but there's no reason for a stale bun, fries as hard as glass, and a burger patty that's paper thin. What's more, I got the DOUBLE! I'm not a burger snob. Heck, I had high hopes getting the double western-style cheeseburger. But with the dry bun, drier non-existent patty, and hard fries, I can't give this any more than a single star. Congrats, Smashburger. You've officially earned the 'Worst Burger Ever' award in my book. This place scores a 1 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

We walked in and were hit with a blazing‑hot dining room that was impossible to tolerate, so we moved to a cooler table near the entrance. There's no table service at all -- you have to scan a QR code to order food and drinks, and everything is just dropped off. They also tack on a mandatory 20% gratuity with zero choice in the matter. Food was very good, but a sweltering room, no service, and forced tipping deserve no stars.

Mmmm, my first time ever at Smash Burger! What a delicious burger... served hot with American cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The French fries were also piping hot, served with both mayonnaise and ketchup. Service was quick.... it worked perfectly between our flights! It was very noisy, being in a busy airport. I look forward to eating here again on my return.

Where's the staff?

I thought surely the reviews could not be this bad for a burger place. I was wrong. I ordered a classic smash single with cheese. On first inspection I opened the bun and could not see the burger. It was under the tomato and was not very large. The patty was charred and very salty. The bun was room temperature and a little hard. The fries looked good, but were lukewarm and limp. I had to run for a flight so I did not have time to talk to the manager.

This is the worst food I've ever had in an airport. It was extremely expensive (i know, airport) and the burger was not fresh. I was disgusted with the plastic baggy i was provided with soggy lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and onion. They charge almost $20 for a burger and can't even assemble it for you? I ordered in the kiosk inside and there was no option for dipping sauces so i asked for ranch when given my order. I was told it was a dollar but they would just give it to me.... I also ordered a fountain drink that was $4 and ridiculously sweet. It was the dragonfruit whatever. Not that anyone reads reviews before deciding where to eat in an airport...but if you happen to see mine, save your money and eat literally anywhere else. Ps also a long wait for said terrible food. Fries are soggy and ranch was terrible.

Classic Smash Burger.

Picture this: Concourse C at Denver International Airport, a land of weary travelers, rolling suitcases, and delayed dreams. And there, amid the chaos, it found me -- a classic smash burger so gloriously seared it could've been forged by the gods of caramelization themselves. The first bite? A meteor strike of beefy goodness. Juices cascaded like a Colorado waterfall, molten cheese bonding to the patty in a way that made me briefly question every life choice leading up to this moment. And Marie -- oh, Marie -- the bartender who guided me through this transcendental experience with a smile that could calm the turbulence of Frontier Flight 732. She poured my drink with the precision of a NASA engineer and the compassion of someone who knows you've been stuck on a layover since sunrise. Now, was this burger better than a steaming plate of Panda Express Orange Chicken? That's like comparing Shakespeare to a Michael Bay movie -- both masterpieces in their own, chaotic ways. The burger whispered umami poetry; the Orange Chicken screams in glorious, sticky-sweet harmony. One flirts with elegance, the other body-slams you with sugar and regret. Did this smash burger change my life? Not quite -- but it did change my layover. For fifteen glorious minutes, I wasn't trapped in an airport; I was soaring through a meaty Valhalla, guided by Marie and her arsenal of condiments. Final verdict: If you find yourself in Concourse C, follow the scent of sizzling redemption. Sit at Marie's bar. Order the classic. For a brief, shining moment, you'll believe in airport food again.

Chicken sandwich and fries

Usually I pass by since there's a line but today no line and I was able to get a quick order in. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and it comes with fries. I also got one of the bottled drinks. The chicken sandwich was good, although by the time I ate it in my uber ride home, the lettuce was already soggy...not their fault. The fries were crunchy but didn't have much flavor so I needed ketchup. Good value meal option at the airport.

Not a smash burger at all. Chewy buns and wilted lettuce.

Stale everything! It's also not a true smash burger. It's just a regular old burger. The buns are chewy and way smaller than your typical $16 burger. The veggies were all wilted especially the lettuce. The fries are probably the worst i've ever had. If you are going for not so fresh fries, you can't do shoestring style. You need to opt for a thicker cut fries so you can at least serve edible colder fries. The service was also as cold as the fries.

the ice location is scary. When cleaning the counter debris falls there! ID cards from their lanyards drag across the ice. please move it.

I really like this place. It's easy to get into and out of, and that's one of the big things you need at an airport. The employees are super quick to get your food. The kitchen gives them 100% support and turns you quickly. Every time I come here, the food arrives before me, lickity split. It is hot and tasty. My Coke is refilled fast and often. Highly recommended

The best part of stopping in at Smashburger in the DIA was my server, Anthony. He was happy, enthusiastic and willing to help. Otherwise, the food was room temp when it arrived, the chicken tenders were dry (although the crunchy coating was tasty) and the wine was way over-priced. The restaurant is also in need of repair. The cushioned seat where I was supposed to sit was ripped. I had to sit to the side of it to avoid getting the loose material on my pants.. If I had read the other reviews before going in (and I typically do), I would have gone somewhere else. Hopefully someone in management will read the reviews and take some corrective action. I believe they are lucky to have Anthony as an employee. Otherwise, this would be a one or two star review.

Fries

Avoid if possible. But maybe the smash burger gods were punishing me for ordering a crispy chicken smash burger?! The picture on their video menu looked better than their hamburger. There was nothing "crispy" about it and it was very, very salty. Condiments come in a separate plastic baggie with no sauce at all. Would have tossed it except for it cost me $20 and I was in a rush to make a connecting flight. Fries were just ok. Pass, not smash.

Came with friends. Heard so many wonderful things about this place. Nope. It's a hard no for me. 2026 and still ZERO plant based options. No, apologies, I'm incorrect. French Fries, Lettuce & my Shirley Temple. Veggie patty has milk & cheese. Get outta here with this mess.

I forgot to take a pic of my burger

We had a layover in Denver and stopped in a a Smash Burger. Delicious and fast service. I'm surprised at the bad reviews. Maybe it's the time of day you are there. We are here at 12:30 pm and they are busy and service is great!! Marie was our server and she rocks!!

Rudest servers I've ever been around. I'd fire everyone of them. Food was average. No place to sit ..... I'd definitely pass on this place.

Easy ordering, long wait for cold burger & cold fries. Lettuce, tomato pickles came in a plastic bag. Just shy of $20. Not likely to return.

Food is just not taste. Expensive and met doesn't taste like a smash burger. It was at the airport so maybe that is why.
