I would not trust this company. I checked out the website and saw that the pricing mentioned for a 10x10 was a "promo deal" but it did not provide details about the length or terms of the promo. Wanting more information, I called the facility directly, using the number listed on the website. The person that answered was pleasant and informative, and I had the information I wanted. No reservation or promises to rent were made or implied. A short time later, I received a call from a different person, Matthew, from a different phone number acknowledging my reservation for a 12x35 unit for $1360 a month. I called back, using the first number I called, and got the same representative as before. After explaining the situation, she advised there was no reservation in the system and claimed there must be some sort of error in the system. I took her on her word and was fine with that. The problem is, 7 hours later, I got another call from another different person, Brandon, from another different number again advising I had a reservation 12x35 unit and wanted me to visit/tour the facility. Something is very wrong with this organization. Either there's some sort of scam or bait and switch going on or the incompetence of the system is overwhelming. Since SmartStop acquired the Extra Space Storage location on Terrace in Ladera Ranch, rent increases have become excessive and relentless. We have just received another increase, bringing our monthly rate to $653 -- an amount that far exceeds reasonable market value for long-term customers. This location appears to operate on a churn model where existing tenants are repeatedly hit with steep increases to offset deeply discounted "introductory" rates offered to new customers. In other words, loyalty is penalized. The office staff has confirmed they have little to no control over pricing, which leaves renters stuck with take-it-or-leave-it increases. Prospective customers should understand that the advertised low rates are temporary, and long-term occupancy can quickly become unaffordable. Transparency and fairness for existing customers are clearly not a priority under the new ownership. read more
