Update: Smartchoice reached back out and sent a technician who diagnosed and fixed the next issue causing the failure. My AC has been running since, and I appreciate that they came back to make it right. Two suggestions for improvement: 1. Prioritize recurring-issue follow-ups. When a "fix" fails within 24 hours, that customer shouldn't go back into the standard queue for another multi-day wait--especially during a heat wave, and especially with young kids or vulnerable family members at home. A same-day or next-day response window for repeat emergency calls would go a long way. 2. Diagnose more thoroughly, not just the most obvious issue. Finding and fixing one problem doesn't mean the system is actually sound--there can be other issues on the horizon that a more complete inspection would catch upfront. I'd have more confidence in a "fixed" system if the visit included a fuller check rather than addressing one symptom at a time across multiple visits. Appreciate them ultimately coming back and getting it resolved. Requested service for my LG Fridge. Freezer section was busted, but wasn't sure what it would be. The Yelp messaging was quick and effortless. Got a response quickly, and setup an appointment within the same evening. Adam was our service tech, and he was clean (putting on shoe coverings since our house is no shoes inside), explained what the issue was, and was direct with the total cost. The part was ordered for what was shown to me online, and later we scheduled a followup appointment to have the part installed. I had to prepay for the part, but labor will be charged after job was complete. It was about 1 week later for the next appointment. We were assigned a Smartchoice technician through our home warranty for an issue with our guest room lights not turning on despite having recently been installed. Vasyl was the BEST and came to our home THREE times (because the first two times, the lights magically worked again the moment he walked through the door... I'm sure we've all been there). Unfortunately, Smartchoice-Service was the contractor American Home Shield (AHS) assigned to me to replace my stove knob & refrigerator icemaker. I paid AHS a $100 service fee which was wasted because the Smartchoice-Service contractor said my stove knob was broken due to "physical damage" not "wear & tear". He must be clairvoyant because there was no way to ascertain how the knob was damaged. Then, AHS wanted to charge me $119.61 to replace the knob which I purchased on Amazon for $14.70. I will never use AHS or Smartchoice-Service again. read more

I really can't understand all the positive reviews here... my experience was terrible. My AC was very slow to cool. First American Home warranty assigned this company. The guy that came out only checked the freon level and said there's nothing wrong with the system. I told him it shouldn't take 1/2 hour to an hour to cool the house and asked if he could check the condenser, filter, etc. and he flat out refused saying there's nothing wrong with the system. I called the business to see if they could send someone else out but was told they only have that one person in my area. Also, the truck the technician drives has no business info other than a large skull, guns, etc. decals. I paid $125 service call only to have my husband spend hours cleaning the condenser and replacing the filter, which is what he should've done. I do not recommend this business. read more

My oven stopped working, I troubleshooted a bit and was convinced the thermocouple needed to be replaced. The technician came and spent 10 minutes diagnosing and told me needed a new control panel. I pushed back but he was certain. I called a week later to check on status and they said part was on order. They reached out a week later to schedule a service to come back, which I expected was to replace the "control panel". They showed up without the part and said they needed to diagnose the issue because my oven model doesn't even have a control panel. So I was lied to when I called to check on the part and the first diagnosis was completely wrong. The second time they came out, almost a month after the first service, they claimed to have fixed the problem by fiddling with some components, but within 3 hours the oven was not working again. I called back to have them come back and they gave me a runaround about needing to talk to the technician. I've switched to a new service provider because of Smart Choice's incompetence. The fancy Scandinavian dishwasher wasn't working again. This time it wouldn't turn on. Smartchoice said they could send out a technician next day. It was Bogdan! Yay! After checking a few things he gave us the news: motherboard burned out. I guessed that a new one would be pricey, and we already had a problem with the Scandinavian dishwasher before. So while he put everything back together I went online looking at dishwashers. Found one I liked that had great reviews and was on sale and asked Bogdan what he thought. He checked it out and said it was a good one. We got the estimate and it was more than the new dishwasher, so the new one is being installed next week. Smartchoice has sent Bogdan to us twice.
