I have used Smart Glass in the past and they could be unreliable but under their new management they are clearly focused on the customer now. The new manager worked with me the whole way through the process and answered my call in the middle of the night. I will tell everyone I know to go there now. If you love your car, please read this. Yep this place is the cheapest, and you really and truly will get what you pay for. [SUMMARY] This shop was the cheapest (by $25) to repair the side window on my Volvo. I brought it in for a 60 minute appointment, which turned into a 90 minute appointment, and left with a scratch on the door where my window was replaced, and black smudges on my steering wheel and inside of the driver door. [DETAILS] The waiting area consists of a stained couch and a stained chair in a dimly-lit room with a coin-op soda machine. The staff members that I interacted with were friendly and casual. The appointment was quoted over the phone for 1.5 hrs, but when I arrived at the shop I was told just one hour would be enough. I checked back in an hour, and was told they needed 30 mins more. Fine. There's a large window in their waiting area that allows you to see your vehicle being worked on. After the window was replaced and the tech parked my car outside, I was shocked to see how dirty his hands were. I figured he must have been using gloves and taken them off. Fine. I pay and leave. I was eager to leave SoDo because I scheduled my appointment the day of the playoff game against the Saints, and the torrential rains weren't helping with game day traffic. I checked to make sure that the window wasn't leaking, and also checked that it rolled up and down normally. Fine. As I'm driving away I start to notice the black smudges on the door and the steering wheel. UGH. And then, I get home and look at the door in my garage (where there is more light), and I find a scratch in the plastic near the window. I know that it was not there before, because I closely examined that door at home immediately after the window was smashed in. I emailed pictures of smudges and the scratch to the owner, and he thanked me for my feedback. He also wrote that I was the "first customer ever" to report issues like this. I came on to Yelp and saw the review from Sam A. and others about damage/black smudges. There was no attempt to remedy the situation, and he's clearly being dishonest about customers reporting issues. [CONCLUSION] For $25 more, there were plenty of other options by established shops in Seattle that could repair my window. I could have had a nicer waiting area and I'm guessing other shops use gloves when they work on your car. The scratch on the door is not a huge deal, but saving $25 for this experience ABSOLUTELY wasn't worth it. I wouldn't come here again, and I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone. read more

I guess the price was to good to be true. I ordered replacement of a few true divided light glass panels in the doors to the deck and one window. First time they came the sizes were so off that they couldn't install the panels. Next time the sizes were close enough but the result is awful. The panels have a visible black frame around. They tried to explain it somehow. One panel is crooked. They've already charged me, but I have to order a replacement from a better company. They are sloppy when ordering the panes and their manufacturer is shabby. Judge by yourself. read more

I wish I could give them 0 star but unfortunately 1 star is the minimum on Yelp! I contacted them more than 40 days ago to install a glass fence for us. The technician came to do the initial measurement. He was a nice guy and quick. Then once he left our home, I've never got any updates from the owner! I called them a couple of days later but Mike told me he'll call me back for price estimate but until now I haven't received any calls/emails from Smart glass! After a Friday break-in, which included a broken window, I was eager to get something scheduled to fix it right away. I had a few minutes before most of the places closed to see who might be able to fix it early on Saturday. Smart Glass was super helpful and said they'd be there 8AM on Saturday ready to go! Their price was amazingly competitive from all the rest, which made a big difference in this out of pocket expense. I have to admit, the location is no frills. But, then again the pricing is very good. The service was quick for me and they had my window vacuumed out, and replaced within 30 minutes. Support these small businesses! I don't recommend them at all. They replaced my windshield right before I left for California. As I was driving down the I5, I started hearing a loud whistling noise coming from my windshield. I called them to let them know my windshield wasn't installed correctly. Margaret was really helpful. She got me in contact with a window company in California to get it fixed. A technician from a glass company in California came out and confirmed that the window was not installed correctly and the moulding was a poor grade. Smart Glass said they would replace everything. When it came down to it, Mike refused. He would only pay for the moulding. I ended up having to pay for the labor and for the window. It doesn't make sense, as this was their wrong-doing. The company in California felt sorry for me and gave me a discount. It was really nice of them but they shouldn't have to pay for the inaccuracy of Smart Glass. The new window from the CA company is so much better than the one from Smart Glass!!!! The quality is drastically higher, the color is much nicer and the moulding was done professionally. The rain no longer flows down in streams like it did with Smart Glass' windshield. I should have taken a before and after photo. I do have a photo of where my friend put a gum box in the windshield to prevent it from squealing. It didn't take care of the problem completely but was a good solution in the interim. In addition to the poor installation job, cheap window & moulding and refusal to pay for their mistake, the owner of Smart Glass (Mike) is a complete jerk!!! He hung up on me and I had no way of communicating with him when the other company was making arrangements to fix my window. I feel for Margaret that she has to work for such a mean person! I had a windshield replaced via their mobile crew. There is now damage to my wiper blades and stems as well as wires hanging down from my rearview mirror. They have been unresponsive, rude, and refuse to return calls. I now have to drive down to SODO to have them look at it. The lady (ahem!) who answers the phone was extremely rude and would not let me talk to the guy who I'm supposed to meet up with when I get there. Now I have to expend (more) energy and time and drive to them to see if they are even interested in fixing a problem that they created. Beyond belief Beyond horrible. Ok, so I haven't had them fix my car window or anything but I've been here a bunch of times for little things and they've been AMAZING! First time I was here I came looking for a cut piece of mirror so I could furnish my Thanksgiving table. They were great and cut off a piece for me at no charge because it wasn't a lot and they had it laying around. AWESOME! Second time: we came back because of the great service and had to replace a pane of glass in the boyfriend's old house. His roommate had tried to knock on the door and instead punched through the glass (he wasn't even drunk or on any sort of mind/body altering substance either). They quickly were able to cut out a piece of glass for us and told the boyfriend how to efficiently slip it into the door. Third time: I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and for Christmas the bride gave me a framed picture of us from her wedding. The frame broke on the plane back from SoCal and so I came here to have the glass replaced. Quick easy fix and cost only a few bucks. This place is awesome, if I ever have any more glass issues (knock on wood that I don't) I will definitely return here. read more

When I called and shopped around this place was the cheapest. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and informative. I made the appointment with ease. The location is great being close to light rail to ride to work after drop off/ to pick up. The receptionist was nice but overall would not recommend and here is why... I cannot speak on the work itself since it was just done last Friday 22nd but will update if the quality of the installation is not up to par or if I have issues with the window itself. The week prior to my appointment I had my like new car detailed for $200.00 so the car was pristine at the time of drop off. I dropped my car off at 7am 4/22 at their location on 4th Ave. They said they would call when it was done and they didn't. That's strike 1. They should know people are waiting for their vehicle so a call is appreciated. I had to call and follow up at 3:30 pm and they said it was done. I am sure it had been done sitting in the rain in their parking lot all day. When I arrived the receptionist was not quick to check and see what I was there for but when she was ready she was pleasant. She almost gave me the wrong repair slip though (with the incorrect total) until I brought it to her attention. They should be better organized on that end. She gave me my keys and I walked to my car. I hopped in into the driver seat and immediately noticed a "soot like" substance all over the dash and on the carpets as well as the seats. I also looked closer at the seats and there were shards of glass on both front seats. I got out and surveyed the rest of the car and it the panels on each side were covered in black from shoe prints. Clearly they did not care how they handled my newly cleaned polished car or their follow through on the job. Most professional automotive places would have covered the seat and the inside of the car with protective gear as well as vacuumed and cleaned the car before they were complete to give back to the customer. I walked back on to tell the receptionist and she said they would get it back into their garage to clean and vacuum. I waited 20 minutes and just left because I was heated and it was a Friday at 5:00 pm at this time and I needed to get on with my day. Honestly I didn't even trust them to clean the car properly. I had my passenger front window broken out, they got me in right away, were 50$s cheaper than the other place I called and made me comfortable while waiting for them to repair it. This place ordered the incorrect glass for my front windshield so I had to wait 3 full hours to get my car serviced to completion. Just got this done today so I can comment too much on the work done, seems perfectly fine overall. Some minor things are the wait time, they left some garbage in my car and the place itself is located in a sketchy area. But the lady that works the desk was extremely friendly and I would give her a 5/5! Price was very affordable on the flip side; I own a German made car so things for it tend to run more on the higher end. Update on review: there is a part of my car that I just discovered as broken. I just called to ask what's the process there and was treated very poorly and was told to "just bring my car in" when this was not any part my fault. I'm on the other side of the state now and will have to drive the 6 hours back to get this fixed. If I could give less than one star, I would. After calling and stopping in to check on the piece, zero communication from them, the glass that finally 'arrived', despite my very clearly labeled pattern, was the wrong type of glass, was chipped everywhere and looked like it had been cut with a spoon. I have used Smart Glass Inc a number of times in the past. Mike has always been fair with pricing, and fast to have my windows repaired when broken. This last time, however he was not. My fault I should of verified the pricing again, but $600 to board up a window while he waited for my replacement window to come in is absolute price gauging. Typically the window that is consistently broken at my business is around $400, this time it was $1400 plus another $600 to put up a piece of plywood while he waited for the new window to be cut. Sorry Mike, not ever coming back. Not only was the bill unbelievable, unfortunately the two guys that were here to install the window were the most unprofessional individuals whom I have ever worked with. They left the keys to the dumpster and locks out, and they were immediately stolen. Just zero care for their customer. read more

Invoice: T12723 Date Installed: March 13, 2014 Check Cashed: August 16, 2014 I was immensely disappointed in this company. I have not had a more unprofessional dealing with any company in recent memory. I spoke to someone over the phone to get a quote and was promised the windshield belonging to my make and model of car. I was guaranteed a professional installer to do the work properly. The day came and an installer showed up who hardly spoke English (Alex). I work in a community where English is often a second language, so I was not too put off by this however the basic ability to communicate should be a requirement. I was unable to understand a single word this gentleman said, but I trusted that he knew what he was doing so I left him to it. An hour later, I went to check on him and he was not even half finished. My car looked like a tornado hit it, there was flecks and pieces of things all over the interior and exterior of my car. I have had "on-site" installation of other windshields in the past and realized immediately that this was abnormal, but again trusted that when he was complete, he would clean it up. Another hour went by and he finally finished. He brought in the invoice and had me sign it before seeing the work, but it was my fault that I signed it. I then went out to inspect the work and found my doors were left unlocked, the mirror was misplaced, and the flecks of everything was still ALL over the inside of my car. I was unhappy enough to make a phone call. I left a message and did not get a return call. Over the next couple weeks it was cloudy but dry so I didn't immediately notice a few things. The first thing is that it is the wrong windshield for my car. My cars model has a "heads up display" that requires a slight tint in the windshield. I mentioned this during my quote and was assured it would be fine. It was not. On the first day it rained I noticed my left windshield wiper was busted. He broke the attachment from the hose to the blades so the hose sprayed everywhere but on my windshield. Again I called and left a message; received no return call. I waited a couple days and called again. At this time I also noticed my check had not cleared and left that information in the message; no return call. I finally spoke to a young guy that expressed my frustration at such blatant unprofessionalism. He told me that I needed to talk with Dillon and if he did not answer to keep calling back because he didn't like taking complaint calls. His start time was 8:00am. I called 5 times the next morning until I reached Dillon who told me to replace the broken part and bill him. I had to replace the entire mechanism because the dealer doesn't sell just that plastic part and it was not cheap, I sent him the invoice and have not received a penny - not that at this point I expected him to. While on the phone with him, I expressed my concern that my check had not been cashed and he stated that it had been "misplaced" but assured me that it was deposited "yesterday". By now I am so frustrated I simply hang up and vowed to never do business with him again. Over the next couple months my windshield started leaking. The lack of "tint" not only made it hard and at some times impossible to use my heads up display but actually distorts my vision because the reflection of the unit on the window itself. It is actually a driving hazard. With all of that, I came to the conclusion that I will just have to pay a reputable company to come out and do it right at a later date. I honestly forgot about the uncleared check until 8/16/2014. 5 MONTHS AND 3 DAYS later, my check clears... I am flabbergasted at the lack of any ... competence. Who cashes a check 5 MONTHS AND 3 DAYS later without giving them a heads up. Run as fast as you can. read more

Avoid this place. Mike, the manager, gave us a quote to replace a windshield, when "his guy" came to do the work, they brought the wrong glass. Once they sorted that out our quote was raised from $450 to over $600! Yes, they were the cheapest. They did the replacement on my truck rear windshield the day it was broken. It took four hours instead of one, so I got to know the waiting room intimately. Dark, saggy couches, smelly bathroom that opens directly into one of the couches. When the work was finally done it was dark and late so I left. It wasn't until the next morning that I noticed all the black adhesive smeared on my seats. And the water leaking into the ceiling of the truck. My second time there took only two hours, while one employee worked feverishly cleaning the stains with W-D 40 (WTF?) the other caught some Z's in the corner of the shop. They re-caulked the head of the window (sure, like a window in an old wood-frame house, makes total sense), apologized, and I was on my way, feeling like a sucker. My third time there they added more caulk and furnished more broken English apologies. The leak has now stopped but humid air is getting into the truck, condensing on the windows every cold night. I can't bear to go back, so I'll probably go somewhere else and have it all re-done. read more
