After removing the broken window and putting in the new glass he presses the window button to move the regulator up and down. With each press of the button there is a loud audible clunking noise, but that doesn't stop Allen. He keeps pressing the button until finally - CLUNK! Allen says "you didn't want to hear that" Very long story short, Allen the master window guy says, while holding the newly broken plastic pieces in his hand, "some JB weld might fix this." After I declined the JB weld, he calls a local auto part store to get a quote on a new regulator to replace the one he just broke. He hangs up the phone and tells me how much the new part is going to cost ME! Yah, you read that right, HE WANTS ME TO PAY FOR HIS CARELESSNESS! I asked Allen to see his business license and insurance information, to which he quickly said "NOPE" and he started packing up his tools. Now not only do I have a broken window, but I have to spend more money to fix his careless mistakes. So in closing, before you do any business with United Glass, just b reak out the other windows in your call and call an actual professional. It will save you time and money. Just avoid this his circus show disguised as a reputable business at all cost.

I used them to make my decision to call United but think these reviews are dubious at best. So here is the reason for two stars - he was late on both occasions coming to my house. Not 15 minutes late but like hours late. Then he was very slow in doing the work. We are talking SLOW - 4+ hours. Then he really shouldn't be doing tint - I had another guy come do windows in my house and he took one look at the tint job Allen did and asked me if I had done it. I was embarrassed to admit I paid Allen to do it. I'd take a picture and let you all see how bad it is but don't want to embarrass him. He offered to come back to my house to redo it and I was like ummm okay. But then thought it would take him hours to do it but first he would have to show up on time. So I didn't call him back. Bottom line - think twice about the other reviews and about using United. The prices were high,the work substandard, took way too long and didn't show up on time.

Before the job: He was extremely prompt in coming out to provide an estimate. He spent time talking with us about the value of the products that he uses, and informed us about a 50-yr warranty that we could get. He told us that other companies might be slightly cheaper, but they won't offer the same warranty or quality of products. With the few other contractors who came out for an estimate, he was exactly right. They offered a lower quality product and very little cost savings. Not Mike. He's proud of the materials he works with, and he'll tell you why they are the best. The project: The work started on-time and was complete within the timeframe we were expecting. The crew was relatively neat and tidy. After the first two days of work, my wife and I had some questions about a few of the aesthetic details. Mike took our call and spent a lot of time with us, trying to figure out how to make sure that we were happy once the project was complete. He wrote and incredibly thorough recap email that provided suggestions for how to address our questions. The result: We are very happy with the end result of the renovation. The new roof looks fantastic and works much more efficiently to vent and protect the tiles. Mike provided an itemized list of other projects we should consider doing, but he was entirely no-pressure with us when we only decided to do a few (not all) of them through Hawks. I never felt like he was up-selling us. Just looking out for our house. Sidenote: I believe Mike said he used to do home inspections. It's clear from my experience with him that he knows a lot about how to keep a home protected from the elements--functioning properly. I felt that I could always depend on him to give me honest advice for the best way to update and protect our home. Summary: I'd recommend Hawks for anyone who needs work done on their roof. As I said before, no renovation is painless, but Mike and his team made sure to do the best quality work, with the best materials at a price that was within our budget.

We hired Shirey Home Pro for significant deck repair on our 50plus-year-old house: A couple of…read morejoists had rot and the wood deck boards needed replacing despite regular maintenance through the years. At Shirey's suggestion, we used TimberTech Azek boards and found a MAXI version in Coastline grey. We're now done except for the custom railing on order, and couldn't be happier. Lead carpenter Bryan is a deck mastermind who was great at figuring out sound, good-looking solutions to our issues. Both he and fellow carpenter Jeromy were highly skilled and efficient, left the work site immaculate at the end of every day and were also just nice to have around. We like the results so much we added fascia and new board for our catwalks to the original agreement. Shirey's inside staff -- coordinator Ashley and bookkeeper Brenda -- are equally great, and especially good at timely, clear communication. We look forward to using Shirey Home Pro again and highly recommend them.

Five years ago we had carpet installed and were left with an annoying gap between the carpet and the baseboard. It drove me crazy! Carl not only handled the installation beautifully, but he also made sure the new padding was thick enough to eliminate that gap entirely. A problem that bothered me for five years - gone in one day thanks to Carl. Fast, professional, detail-oriented, and genuinely thoughtful. We couldn't recommend him more!

We will not be working with Better Call Carl again. Last November, we hired him to perform a…read more"bathroom refresh". Hooked us in with a great price and great initial communication. On the first day on the renovation, we went through all the details of changes we wanted to make with his team. Somehow, these details never came to fruition. They did a great job with the drywall, painting, and tub installation - however, their tile work in the shower is subpar (the tiles were placed crooked and we had to go in to regrout ourselves). We previously had plumbing work done, so the cabinetry underneath the vanity had to be replaced. Better Call Carl figured the best way to do this was to just patchwork plywood (we went back ourselves to fix). He also didn't see the need for continuous baseboards (see photo). The biggest problem we have is with the floors - we also had terrazzo floor tiles placed and confirmed with the team prior to starting that there were enough tiles to complete the project. The floor is not up to industry standard nor ADA requirements. The grout lines are all different sizes and the actual tiles are not level, resulting in a trip hazard. There are also tiles that have been chipped both during and after installation. We reached out to Better Call Carl after work was complete to see if he could replace the floor - he was reluctant to come back, but he did end up replacing two tiles (out of 21). Even after the second round, the floor is a little more level, but nowhere near the standard or expectation. There are still chipped tiles, uneven grout lines, and tiles that are not level. We will be buying new tiles and having the floor redone, so we asked for a partial refund (for just the work on the floor), which was denied. We then tried to see if there was any other resolution we could agree on since Better Call Carl claims he has a one-year warranty. He refused to uphold his warranty. We'll be going with another professional from here on and would not recommend Better Call Carl to anyone.

Since it'd been 6 years, I wasn't sure Robert would remember the job or fix the issue, but I didn't need to worry. He sent someone out the very next business day.
