I got bids, and was the most impressed with Danny L at Signature Windows. We had a tight deadline because the home was going on the market and access to the window, especially in the rain, was really challenging. Meeting the deadline, and the safety of the installers, were non-negotiable. Danny came out the very next day to measure the Window From Hell and, not only did he give me the best price, but his company was the only one that had all the scaffolding equipment readily available at no extra charge. The window arrived sooner than expected, and installation was quickly scheduled to meet the deadline. Then we hit a snag: some epic rain made the cedar roof too slippery for safe conditions. Brent and his crew of expert (and very brave) installers rigged up a safe way to haul this brand-new Mother of ALL Windows up to the second floor and install it using very long ladders, secure scaffolding, and harnesses. I think we had 4 or 5 installers for this job. It took all day to get the old Window From Hell out and the new Mother of All Windows installed. But what a job! Perfect caulk lines, perfect cleaning of the glass, perfect clean-up of the job site, indoors and out. Job done ON TIME, SAFELY, and at an excellent price. If Signature can handle my Window From Hell, I am very confident they can install ordinary double-hung windows that exceed your expectations for quality, price, timeliness, and workmanship. Being told they would publicly respond and report the review to Yelp and Google if I didn't remove it felt unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating. Also in response to their comments below Thank you for confirming the exact root of the problem: you looked at a three-pane window, saw that only the middle section was currently foggy, and assumed I only wanted that single section replaced. As a professional window company, it was your responsibility to clearly state: "We see only the middle pane is failing, so this quote is strictly for one pane of glass, not the entire window unit you asked for." You didn't do that. You just wrote "1 glass replacement" on a quote for a "window replacement" request and expected a regular homeowner to know the technical difference. The fact remains: I asked for a window replacement. I provided a photo of the entire window. Other companies looked at the exact same information and managed to quote the entire three-pane unit for a price comparable to what you charged me for just the middle section. You can keep calling a customer's genuine financial frustration "deceptive" to protect your online rating, but your own responses show a complete lack of accountability. You made an assumption, failed to communicate it clearly upfront, and I had to pay the premium for it. Prospective clients can read this back-and-forth and decide for themselves if they want to risk dealing with a company that hides behind ambiguous quote terminology instead of practicing transparent communication. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication during the quoting process, only the middle section was replaced. That was really frustrating because it made the overall cost much higher compared to other companies I had received quotes from. To their credit, they did offer to replace the remaining sections at a discount after I brought up the issue. However, even with the discount, the final price still ends up being significantly more expensive than competitors. Had everything been communicated more clearly upfront, I likely would have chosen a different company. The biggest issue for me was the lack of clarity during the quoting process. It felt misleading to realize afterward that the quote only covered one section instead of the full window I thought we had discussed. That said, I do want to give credit to the installation crew because they were excellent. They were respectful, worked quickly, kept everything clean, and did quality work. My frustration is mainly with the communication and quoting side of the experience, not the installers themselves.

I called the phone number on their website, left a message and was in the process of filling out their contact form when the owner, Paul, called me. That fast! He was even out of town. He called his son, Sean, who called me within minutes. He had a cancellation and was actually at my home in about 20 minutes. I need a new door, but he fixed the door frame, the door itself and installed my new deadbolt. The price was less than I expected, the work impeccable. He measured and has ordered my new door. Most importantly, I feel so safe. The fact that they understood my situation is priceless. I cannot recommend them enough.

The Rheem estimate from the big box store was ridiculous; the teaser price went up by 50% once they actually itemized the install. Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

They look nice and the low-E panes on the south side of the house made a huge difference this summer. The estimate was two weeks for the job, and then did finish on time. On the negative side, they didn't do a good job cleaning up afterwards. Besides the trash left in the yard, I picked up around 3 dozen (I started counting after the first handful) screws and nails from the driveway. They keep showing up because they left so many in the yard. We've had two flat tires (although it is hard to directly state it is from the window install, it is likely). I also found one screen that didn't fit right. I reached out to the project managers about the issues but never heard back. Watching them install the windows, I suspect they will hold up well this winter when it rains, but won't know for sure until a full season has passed.

The old windows had all the tabs cut off and were simply slid into place and screwed down. Ryan and Luis from Renewal by Andersen were the crew that removed the old windows and installed the new ones. I can't say enough about Ryan and Luis as the installation team. They worked well together. They each know a lot about the windows and home construction. Their attention to detail was greatly appreciated by me. They finished the scheduled 3-day job in just under 3 days. Their workmanship is top-notched. On day 3, they installed the two specialty windows. They custom-built the trim work for these windows onsite and to the exact specifications. I'm very happy with they way these look. I also really appreciated being kept apprised of the project status. I had great concerns, since we live in Washington, that wood rot would be an issue. They kept me informed and showed me that rot was not an issue. We did have one issue along the way. There was one window that had 120V wiring inside the window framing. Ryan showed me this issue and worked with me to install that window the next day after I was able to have my electrician confirm how to reroute the wire and then I safely remove the old wire from the window framing. I had numerous questions along the way. Both Ryan and Luis were great at answering all my questions. When he learned that we had been without hot water for several days, he went out of his way to rearrange a busy schedule and send technicians the *same day* to install the new heater. That level of consideration is truly impressive. As always, Jesse's work was exceptional. (He previously installed a shower for us.) In addition to completing the assigned tasks, he took the time to explain how to maintain the new heater and how to minimize damage if a leak ever occurs. We called, someone came out and supposedly fixed the problem. After being away for several months in the winter/spring, we came home to 2 other major leaks/stains in the dining room/kitchen/living area. Someone came out to fix it, but mainly to deny that the new deck had anything to do with the leak (we had NEVER had a problem in 13 years). When we had the original roofers come to repair the damage, they found the major leak source in a place where the deck people had inadvertently sliced into the membrane in deciding to reroute the downspout, other damaged areas were smaller holes probably due to heavy boots or stepping on fallen nails, etc. Since then, as advised, we sent a registered letter, which was received and have heard nothing back, so unfortunately the next step is small claims court.

Our condo's previous owner took out all the closet doors. So, we were missing doors for our two…read morebedrooms and pantry. We suspected this would be an expensive project, so for years, we just put it off. Finally, last year we decided to get it done. In addition to the closet doors, we also replaced 5 interior doors for "free" (I say "free" because there were other costs associated with the interior doors). Yes, this was an expensive project--there's no sugarcoating that. BUT, it was worth it. Someone comes out for initial measurements. Then, you go to the showroom to pick your doors, and get a breakdown in pricing. The cost of the doors adds up quickly (e.g. knobs, installation cost, etc.). But, they're not trying to pressure you into anything. Once you place the order, it takes several weeks for the doors to come. In the meantime, someone comes back out to do more precise measurements. The install took a full day and a couple of hours the next day. After watching them work through some challenges with the install (e.g., crooked walls), I began to understand why it costs so much. I mean, I don't think we would've gotten close to the same results going with a big box hardware store. It's been about a year, and our doors still look great. We just wish we would've tackled this project sooner!

Second, they are balanced, and open and close smoothly. And third, and perhaps most importantly, the bifold doors aren't falling off the tracks anymore. Replacing the hardware was also a huge improvement, with levers that are easier to use. Eric and his team did such a great job with installation, and I really appreciated all of the suggestions. Several of the door frames weren't standard, and rather than ordering custom doors, Eric suggested reframing the opening, which saved us a lot of money. Another closet wasn't the standard depth, and Eric designed a closet with built-in shelves that work perfectly for the space and for storage. I couldn't be happier with the work, and I highly recommend Seattle Doors & Closets.
