Again Small Oven delivers! Went for Sunday breakfast today and was surprised by bfast being as good and maybe better than already my favorite lunch spot! Omg I kept asking Amanda--'what is that you just served ?' And three times she said 'toast and eggs' Each plate looked more and more delicious--yet was the same dish!! The soft boiled eggs are an egg perfection!!! We had the Tourtine and it was a breakfast for a queen!!! Again soft boiled egg, of course amazing bread, crazy bean spread and tasty arugula with some veggies. Ah-mazing! I really can't say enough about this breakfast. Best best best breakfast! We ordered two layer cakes for a family celebration. Not only were the cakes delicious, they were beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. Our guests loved the lemon cakes, one with a chocolate ganache filling and frosting, the other with a buttercream filling and frosting. The cakes had a delicate lemon flavor and were not overly sweet. Staff were helpful and professional and we were able to order the cakes over the phone. This is a very friendly little place. That's why I gave it 3 stars. Luckily the cappuccino was only $2.75 as it was one of the most depressing cappuccinos I've come across in this area. I had a ginger scone which was very dense and I ended up throwing it out. All the other baked goods ...croissants etc was baked towards the " burned side " so I wasn't tempted to get that either. Whoa I had the best "sandwich" here, if not the best in my life then at least in a very long time. It wasn't a sandwich so much as hummus toast with vegan yumminess all over it. There were bites with preserved lemon, which is now one of my favorite things, and occasionally something sweet, and the greens on top were fresh and perfectly dressed. My daughter had the egg and cheese sandwich, which was also delicious. I wish I lived nearby but I'll definitely be back when visiting the area in the future! read more

Food is good, but not good enough to wait in a 20-40 minute line like there was this morning. A queue for just coffee and pastries on one side and a queue for bigger food orders on another might allow more people to be served in a timely manner. I did not know that bread could be so delicious. My girlfriend and I have become bread fiends because of this place. If we aren't careful we can devour full loaves in a single sitting. It's seriously that good. They have pre-made meals, one of my favorite being the goat cheese and fig sand-which. They have wonderful kind service, and they seem to be handling cleanliness during the pandemic with professionalism and courtesy. We will be lifetime supporters of small oven! read more

This was our once-a-week breakfast treat before Covid. Would like to reinstate the tradition, but still being cautious. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious and filling. Last time we were there (2 years ago, so take this with a grain of salt) the coffee was not great. But the food makes up for that. read more

Small Oven is a welcome addition to the Easthampton scene. It's a hands-on little joint that has tremendous ambition and lattes that will have you hopping off the wall for a couple of hours. There is hit and miss on the menu however and Small Oven can also not be very practical, and a little on the pricy side. First off, there is a lot of love for this place and it's very friendly with the owner front and center really engaging with her customers. It sets a warm vibe straight off. That menu has some interesting daily options on the board and the baked goods are fresh. Baguettes are truly top class (and I think award-winning), lattes are STRONG. They are pretty fast in getting your sandwich out to you. It's a tad awkward in the waiting area (if you are getting it to go) but the staff are really on it and seek you out. It does get busy but they can move through a line. The croissants are a bit too crispy and a bit dry. The almond croissant can be spectacular on its given day but it can be a bit uneven. The sandwiches look great on the board but are a little flimsy for take-out. On a rainy day you'll be handed your sandwich in a nice looking but impractical open-ended foil wrapping. Not great for carrying. I've noticed that the orders can be done out of sync too. You'd get a warm breakfast sandwich but cold toast. It's happened a few times. It's a small thing but when you get charged $4 for toast, you kinda want it warm and the butter soft. Sounds first world problem, right? But it's $4...that's the thing. And speaking of first world they don't do a decaf latte yet :) All and all though it's good. Sometimes it's annoying because it's pricy and impractical and just a bit off. They try hard though and they're in the right zone and do well from a small space. read more

One of the better bakeries in the area. Great sandwiches and lunches. Sometimes the staff seems a bit strange. Typical western MA inability to just be good at customer service, as if it offends their "true selves" or something. I haven't really figured out why people do that around there yet. It's awkward to people not from the area or from major cities where people have to work super hard to keep the bills paid. Just about every Saturday my boyfriend and I get pastries from Small Oven. We have never been disappointed. The croissants are buttery, flakey and light. I love the filled croissants also. The ingredients are fresh and the flavor combinations are delicious. My boyfriend loves the sticky bun. The dough is the perfect texture, and it isn't cloyingly sweet. How have I not reviewed Small Oven??? If you haven't been, you need to. Period. I could live strictly on the avocado bacon sandwiches and sticky buns. Everything I've ever had there is delicious - cookies, bread, quiche, sandwiches, pastries, open faced sandwiches with soft boiled eggs, cakes. Some of the flavor combinations are so inventive and just superb. Even the potato salads that comes with the sandwich are so yummy! They also keep a good mix of their standard items on the menu but have inventive specials so you can always try something new to keep things fresh. Breads: I bought a brioche from small oven last week and it was perfect. We used it to made the best French toast of all time. Then we finished off the loaf one buttered slice at a time. I've enjoyed their other breads as well. Eclairs: excellent. Filled with a perfect pastry cream. Yum. Cakes: best ever? I got a birthday cake here, and it was not only delicious in every aspect, it was also BEAUTIFUL. It looked better than most wedding cakes I've seen. I was raised by a baker, so most of the baked goods I eat make me think they either came from factories, or uninterested amateurs. Small Oven's stuff tastes like actual food, made with actual ingredients. Flour, sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon. They put a lot of effort into both the baked goods and the lunch menu, and it shows. This is a wonderful place for Easthampton to have. It's small, but it's also a home grown operation, not a chain or a place that gets their stuff delivered from a "bakery" factory fifty miles away every morning. As for the people that complain about the sticky buns (or whatever other authentic thing that they're not used to): I am reminded of children raised on fish sticks and frozen fries that poutily push away their first order of real Fish and Chips. The sticky buns aren't puffy dough filled with cinnamon-flavored goop, they're croissant dough with sugar and cinnamon. It's *actual food*, which I know is startling for some people, but if they don't like it, there's a drive through on the way out of town that will happily serve them burnt coffee and a breakfast that will never rot because it's mostly fillers and preservatives anyway. read more

Another pit stop while in Easthampton ... everything looked great but wasn't! The sticky bins were the worst ever ... I know .. someone out there is thinking W-H-A-T ?? ... sorry that was OUR experience. They were DRY and the bottom was burnt as in had black marks ... we took a bit and they ended up in the can. No something that is normal for me to do to a sticky bun!. Maybe an off experience, ?? but the person behind the counter should have known they were not lookin' good that day! We got one sandwich, a special of the day and it was very good but took forever to make .. a ridiculous amount of time... I love these ladies. They are amazing wonderful incredibly hard working people. Their bread is some of the best in the valley, and honestly this is the level that Easthampton needs to aspire to (along with Captain Jack's and Coco). I'm giving them five stars because it is some of the best in the area, if not THE best in the Valley for what they do, and they're some of the nicest people I've met - fantastic business owners that know how to make clients happy and welcome. That being said, I was raised by a baker and I can see some of the limitations to their "petit four" cooking methods (they literally only have an oven and small portable induction burner, so it limits their offerings). For example, I've never been a fan of their quiche because they cook it fully, then when they warm it up again (in their oven) it gets burned. They do an amazing breakfast sandwich, but it often sells out. Also, they make a cortado, for $2, which is awesome. Visit them, get there early, and get the breakfast sandwich. They'll probably know your name by the next time you come in. read more

I've give this locale the title Bohemian Food Boutique. I had the quiche and Earl grey mousse pie! Incredible!!!! My quiche was yummy but, it was served room temp with salad. I still recommend the place! Look forward to going back and tasting everything else on my next visits. read more
