This place has the best breakfast and coffee in town 10/10 I would totally recommend this spot for anyone that wants to eat something fresh and tasty

This is a favorite stop -- a place we keep coming back to because it's consistently good. I usually forget to write it up because I'm too busy digging in or getting ready for something. Yet, it's a great find. The food is fresh and the service is friendly - The real challenge is going when it's not too crowded. In the warmer weather, the outside space is lovely, but we usually do best sitting inside where there are a steady stream of folks looking for tables.

It was a lovely day to sit outside and have lunch at Esselon Cafe. The tulip garden and quiet patio setting was really a treat. This was my 2nd visit to this cafe so I knew there was no table service ...and while I don't really like that - the food makes up for it. I ordered the grass fed burger with cheddar on a ciabatta roll and it came with some greens on the side. The burger was really very good and was cooked perfectly....it was so good that I didn't even want to put ketchup on it It is not too often that you can eat a burger on a patio surrounded by tulips...really lovely time of year! They still lose a star for not having the table service that I like, but the food is good and I will go back again.

The outdoor setting is effortlessly charming. While the food isn't flawless, it's enjoyable and satisfying.

Food was very good with large portions. You order at the counter get a number and the food is brought to your table. Limited indoor seating but plenty of beautiful outdoor seating. Right down the street from the New England falconry so it was a great stop for lunch after my visit there.

Charming cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor dining options. The lavender latte was flavorful. The cookies here are huge! Delicious too and just perfect crispy top with chewy center. Staff were great and took time to look up allergen content. Much appreciated.

We had our pup with us, so spots where we could sit down were even more limited, but luckily, a lunch at Familiars was only a very long line away. While the group waited outside at one of the sidewalk tables, I went inside to order at the counter. I got the chicken salad sandwich and have to say I was so surprised by how delicious it was. I'm not from here, so from just the outside and where you order, I thought they were a cafe first with food options, but nope. Definitely wrong, they make a great sandwich. And the coffees were also delicious! Baristas and team were all friendly, the space inside was very cool, cozy and comfortable and they had plenty of outside tables as well. You order at the counter and they will bring all of the food out to you, you also grab your own waters inside. A nice mix of casual and service. If I was local or visiting when I needed a space to bring my laptop and get some remote work done, this seems like a great option.

First, tons of outdoor seating, the outside is gorgeous and so welcoming. I got one of their spring specials, the Sugar Bush Latte. The latte had the perfect amount of flavor and not too much sweetness (which I prefer). Before I left, I also got an iced black tea and an iced americano for my husband. The iced black tea was perfection, flavorful yet still bitter. The iced americano (unsweet) confirmed that their espresso was DELISH.

The staff were genuinely welcoming, attentive without being overbearing, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. The menu highlights locally sourced ingredients and seasonal flavors, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Whether you're ordering seafood, steak, or one of their creative vegetarian options, the flavors are balanced and satisfying. The cocktail list is equally impressive, with well-crafted drinks that complement the menu nicely. While our table was being set up outside, we enjoyed a drink at the bar--the 15-minute wait was absolutely worth it. The outdoor setting was beautiful, with greenery creating a relaxed summer vibe and live music playing under a small tent, adding to the atmosphere. Our server was equally delightful--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations. Now, the food: outstanding. We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to the area

We got there around 1:40 p.m. and they closed at 2, so my friend was a little worried, but we were still welcomed and the staff was very friendly. It's a small place, but I actually liked that it felt cozy. We ordered 12 oysters, two orders of gumbo, a kale Caesar salad, the catfish special to split, and a bourbon-based drink. The oysters were $2 each, which I thought was a pretty good deal. The gumbo was really, really good. It came out a little lukewarm, but the flavor was absolutely there 10/10. The oysters were fresh and also 10/10. The bourbon drink was another standout. The presentation was beautiful, the little flower was such a nice touch, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The kale Caesar was where things dipped a little. It was pretty dry, so we asked for extra dressing, but the dressing didn't really add much flavor. When our waitress checked in, we were honest and said it just wasn't our favorite. I hate sending food back or complaining. I'll usually just stop eating it but she was so kind and apologetic. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.
